1. കുറെക്കാലം കഴിഞ്ഞിട്ടു കോതമ്പുകെയ്ത്തുകാലത്തു ശിംശോന് ഒരു കോലാട്ടിന് കുട്ടിയെയുംകൊണ്ടു തന്റെ ഭാര്യയെ കാണ്മാന് ചെന്നുശയനഗൃഹത്തില് എന്റെ ഭാര്യയുടെ അടുക്കല് ഞാന് കടന്നുചെല്ലട്ടെ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അവളുടെ അപ്പനോ അവനെ അകത്തു കടപ്പാന് സമ്മതിക്കാതെ

1. Later on--it was during the wheat harvest--Samson visited his bride, bringing a young goat. He said, 'Let me see my wife--show me her bedroom.' But her father wouldn't let him in.

2. നിനക്കു അവളില് കേവലം അനിഷ്ടമായി എന്നു ഞാന് വിചാരിച്ചതുകൊണ്ടു അവളെ നിന്റെ തോഴന്നു കൊടുത്തുപോയി; അവളുടെ അനുജത്തി അവളെക്കാള് സുന്ദരിയല്ലോ? അവള് മറ്റവള്ക്കു പകരം നിനക്കു ഇരിക്കട്ടെ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

2. He said, 'I concluded that by now you hated her with a passion, so I gave her to your best man. But her little sister is even more beautiful. Why not take her instead?'

3. അതിന്നു ശിംശോന് ഇപ്പോള് ഫെലിസ്ത്യര്ക്കും ഒരു ദോഷം ചെയ്താല് ഞാന് കുറ്റക്കാരനല്ല എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

3. Samson said, 'That does it. This time when I wreak havoc on the Philistines, I'm blameless.'

4. ശിംശോന് പോയി മുന്നൂറു കുറുക്കന്മാരെ പിടിച്ചു വാലോടുവാല് ചേര്ത്തു പന്തം എടുത്തു ഈരണ്ടു വാലിന്നിടയില് ഔരോ പന്തംവെച്ചു കെട്ടി.

4. Samson then went out and caught three hundred jackals. He lashed the jackals' tails together in pairs and tied a torch between each pair of tails.

5. പന്തത്തിന്നു തീ കൊളുത്തി ഫെലിസ്ത്യരുടെ വിളവിലേക്കു വിട്ടു, കറ്റയും വിളവും ഒലിവുതോട്ടങ്ങളും എല്ലാം ചുട്ടുകളഞ്ഞു.

5. He then set fire to the torches and let them loose in the Philistine fields of ripe grain. Everything burned, both stacked and standing grain, vineyards and olive orchards--everything.

6. ഇതു ചെയ്തതു ആര് എന്നു ഫെലിസ്ത്യര് അന്വേഷിച്ചാറെ തിമ്നക്കാരന്റെ മരുകന് ശിംശോന് ; അവന്റെ ഭാര്യയെ അവന് എടുത്തു തോഴന്നു കൊടുത്തുകളഞ്ഞു എന്നു അവര്ക്കും അറിവുകിട്ടി; ഫെലിസ്ത്യര് ചെന്നു അവളെയും അവളുടെ അപ്പനെയും തീയിലിട്ടു ചുട്ടുകളഞ്ഞു.

6. The Philistines said, 'Who did this?' They were told, 'Samson, son-in-law of the Timnite who took his bride and gave her to his best man.' The Philistines went up and burned both her and her father to death.

7. അപ്പോള് ശിംശോന് അവരോടുനിങ്ങള് ഈവിധം ചെയ്യുന്നു എങ്കില് ഞാന് നിങ്ങളെ പ്രതികാരം ചെയ്യാതെ വിടുകയില്ല എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

7. Samson then said, 'If this is the way you're going to act, I swear I'll get even with you. And I'm not quitting till the job's done!'

8. അവരെ കഠിനമായി അടിച്ചു തുടയും നടുവും തകര്ത്തുകളഞ്ഞു. പിന്നെ അവന് ചെന്നു ഏതാംപാറയുടെ ഗഹ്വരത്തില് പാര്ത്തു.

8. With that he tore into them, ripping them limb from limb--a huge slaughter. Then he went down and stayed in a cave at Etam Rock.

9. എന്നാല് ഫെലിസ്ത്യര് ചെന്നു യെഹൂദയില് പാളയമിറങ്ങി ലേഹിയില് എല്ലാം പരന്നു.

9. The Philistines set out and made camp in Judah, preparing to attack Lehi (Jawbone).

10. നിങ്ങള് ഞങ്ങളുടെ നേരെ വന്നിരിക്കുന്നതു എന്തു എന്നു യെഹൂദ്യര് ചോദിച്ചു. ശിംശോന് ഞങ്ങളോടു ചെയ്തതുപോലെ ഞങ്ങള് അവനോടും ചെയ്യേണ്ടതിന്നു അവനെ പിടിച്ചുകെട്ടുവാന് വന്നിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു അവര് ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.

10. When the men of Judah asked, 'Why have you come up against us?' they said, 'We're out to get Samson. We're going after Samson to do to him what he did to us.'

11. അപ്പോള് യെഹൂദയില്നിന്നു മൂവായിരംപേര് ഏതാംപാറയുടെ ഗഹ്വരത്തിങ്കല് ചെന്നു ശിംശോനോടുഫെലിസ്ത്യര് നമ്മെ വാഴുന്നു എന്നു നീ അറിയുന്നില്ലയോ? നീ ഞങ്ങളോടു ഇച്ചെയ്തതു എന്തു എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു. അവര് എന്നോടു ചെയ്തതുപോലെ ഞാന് അവരോടും ചെയ്തു എന്നു അവന് അവരോടു പറഞ്ഞു.

11. Three companies of men from Judah went down to the cave at Etam Rock and said to Samson, 'Don't you realize that the Philistines already bully and lord it over us? So what's going on with you, making things even worse?' He said, 'It was tit for tat. I only did to them what they did to me.'

12. അവര് അവനോടുഫെലിസ്ത്യരുടെ കയ്യില് ഏല്പിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു നിന്നെ പിടിച്ചുകെട്ടുവാന് ഞങ്ങള് വന്നിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. ശിംശോന് അവരോടുനിങ്ങള് തന്നേ എന്നെ കൊല്ലുകയില്ല എന്നു എന്നോടു സത്യം ചെയ്വിന് എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

12. They said, 'Well, we've come down here to tie you up and turn you over to the Philistines.' Samson said, 'Just promise not to hurt me.'

13. അവര് അവനോടുഇല്ല; ഞങ്ങള് നിന്നെ കൊല്ലുകയില്ല; നിന്നെ പിടിച്ചുകെട്ടി അവരുടെ കയ്യില് ഏല്പിക്കേയുള്ളു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അങ്ങനെ അവര് രണ്ടു പുതിയ കയര്കൊണ്ടു അവനെ കെട്ടി പാറയില്നിന്നു കൊണ്ടുപോയി.

13. 'We promise,' they said. 'We will tie you up and surrender you to them but, believe us, we won't kill you.' They proceeded to tie him with new ropes and led him up from the Rock.

14. അവന് ലേഹിയില് എത്തിയപ്പോള് ഫെലിസ്ത്യര് അവനെ കണ്ടിട്ടു ആര്ത്തു. അപ്പോള് യഹോവയുടെ ആത്മാവു അവന്റെമേല് വന്നു അവന്റെ കൈ കെട്ടിയിരുന്ന കയര് തീകൊണ്ടു കരിഞ്ഞ ചണനൂല്പോലെ ആയി; അവന്റെ ബന്ധനങ്ങള് കൈമേല്നിന്നു ദ്രവിച്ചുപോയി.

14. As he approached Lehi, the Philistines came to meet him, shouting in triumph. And then the Spirit of GOD came on him with great power. The ropes on his arms fell apart like flax on fire; the thongs slipped off his hands.

15. അവന് ഒരു കഴുതയുടെ പച്ചത്താടിയെല്ലു കണ്ടു കൈ നീട്ടി എടുത്തു അതുകൊണ്ടു ആയിരം പേരെ കൊന്നുകളഞ്ഞു.

15. He spotted a fresh donkey jawbone, reached down and grabbed it, and with it killed the whole company.

16. കഴുതയുടെ താടിയെല്ലുകൊണ്ടു കുന്നു ഒന്നു, കുന്നു രണ്ടു; കഴുതയുടെ താടിയെല്ലുകൊണ്ടു ആയിരം പേരെ ഞാന് സംഹരിച്ചു എന്നു ശിംശോന് പറഞ്ഞു.

16. And Samson said, With a donkey's jawbone I made heaps of donkeys of them. With a donkey's jawbone I killed an entire company.

17. ഇങ്ങനെ പറഞ്ഞുകഴിഞ്ഞിട്ടു അവന് താടിയെല്ലു കയ്യില് നിന്നു എറിഞ്ഞുകളഞ്ഞു; ആ സ്ഥലത്തിന്നു രാമത്ത്--ലേഹി എന്നു പേരായി.

17. When he finished speaking, he threw away the jawbone. He named that place Ramath Lehi (Jawbone Hill).

18. പിന്നെ അവന് വളരെ ദാഹിച്ചിട്ടു യഹോവയോടു നിലവിളിച്ചുഅടിയന്റെ കയ്യാല് ഈ മഹാജയം നീ നല്കിയല്ലോ; ഇപ്പോള് ഞാന് ദാഹംകൊണ്ടു മരിച്ചു അഗ്രചര്മ്മികളുടെ കയ്യില് വീഴേണമോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

18. Now he was suddenly very thirsty. He called out to GOD, 'You have given your servant this great victory. Are you going to abandon me to die of thirst and fall into the hands of the uncircumcised?'

19. അപ്പോള് ദൈവം ലേഹിയില് ഒരു കുഴി പിളരുമാറാക്കി, അതില്നിന്നു വെള്ളം പുറപ്പെട്ടു; അവന് കുടിച്ചു ചൈതന്യം പ്രാപിച്ചുവീണ്ടു ജീവിച്ചു. അതുകൊണ്ടു അതിന്നു ഏന് --ഹക്കോരേ എന്നു പേരായി; അതു ഇന്നുവരെയും ലേഹിയില് ഉണ്ടു.

19. So God split open the rock basin in Lehi; water gushed out and Samson drank. His spirit revived--he was alive again! That's why it's called En Hakkore (Caller's Spring). It's still there at Lehi today.

20. അവന് ഫെലിസ്ത്യരുടെ കാലത്തു യിസ്രായേലിന്നു ഇരുപതു സംവത്സരം ന്യായപാലനം ചെയ്തു.

20. Samson judged Israel for twenty years in the days of the Philistines.
