1. ഇങ്ങനെ അബ്രാമും ഭാര്യയും അവന്നുള്ളതൊക്കെയും അവനോടുകൂടെ ലോത്തും മിസ്രയീമില്നിന്നു പുറപ്പെട്ടു തെക്കെ ദേശത്തു വന്നു.

1. Then Abram departed out of Egypt, both he and his wife and all that he had, and Lot with him unto the south.

2. കന്നുകാലി, വെള്ളി, പൊന്നു ഈ വകയില് അബ്രാം ബഹുസമ്പന്നനായിരുന്നു.

2. Abram was very rich in cattle, silver and gold.

3. അവന് തന്റെ യാത്രയില് തെക്കുനിന്നു ബേഥേല്വരെയും ബേഥേലിന്നും ഹായിക്കും മദ്ധ്യേ തനിക്കു ആദിയില് കൂടാരം ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നതും താന് ആദിയില് ഉണ്ടാക്കിയ യാഗപീഠമിരുന്നതുമായ സ്ഥലംവരെയും ചെന്നു.

3. And he went on his journey from the south even unto BETHEL, and unto the place where his tent was at the first time between BETHEL and Ay,

4. അവിടെ അബ്രാം യഹോവയുടെ നാമത്തില് ആരാധിച്ചു.

4. and unto the place of the altar which he made before. And there called Abram upon the name, of the LORD.

5. അബ്രാമിനോടുകൂടെവന്ന ലോത്തിന്നും ആടുമാടുകളും കൂടാരങ്ങളും ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു.

5. Lot also which went with him had sheep, cattle and tents:

6. അവര് ഒന്നിച്ചുപാര്പ്പാന് തക്കവണ്ണം ദേശത്തിന്നു അവരെ വഹിച്ചു കൂടാഞ്ഞു; സമ്പത്തു വളരെ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നതുകൊണ്ടു അവര്ക്കും ഒന്നിച്ചുപാര്പ്പാന് കഴിഞ്ഞില്ല.

6. so that the land was not able to receive them that they might dwell together, for the substance of their riches was so great, that they could not dwell together.

7. അബ്രാമിന്റെ കന്നുകാലികളുടെ ഇടയന്മാര്ക്കും ലോത്തിന്റെ കന്നുകാലികളുടെ ഇടയന്മാര്ക്കും തമ്മില് പിണക്കമുണ്ടായി; കനാന്യരും പെരിസ്യരും അന്നു ദേശത്തു പാര്ത്തിരുന്നു.

7. And there fell a strife between the herdmen of Abram's cattle, and the herdmen of Lot's cattle. Moreover the Cananites and the Pherisites dwelled at that time in the land.

8. അതു കൊണ്ടു അബ്രാം ലോത്തിനോടുഎനിക്കും നിനക്കും എന്റെ ഇടയന്മാര്ക്കും നിന്റെ ഇടയന്മാര്ക്കും തമ്മില് പിണക്കം ഉണ്ടാകരുതേ; നാം സഹോദരന്മാരല്ലോ.

8. Then said Abram unto Lot: Let there be no strife I pray thee between thee and me and between my herdmen and thine, for we be brethren.

9. ദേശമെല്ലാം നിന്റെ മുമ്പാകെ ഇല്ലയോ? എന്നെ വിട്ടുപിരിഞ്ഞാലും. നീ ഇടത്തോട്ടെങ്കില് ഞാന് വലത്തോട്ടു പൊയ്ക്കൊള്ളാം; നീ വലത്തോട്ടെങ്കില് ഞാന് ഇടത്തോട്ടു പൊയ്ക്കൊള്ളാം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

9. Is not all the hole land before thee? Depart I pray thee from me. If thou wilt take the left hand, I will take the right: or if thou take the right hand I will take the left.

10. അപ്പോള് ലോത്ത് നോക്കി, യോര്ദ്ദാന്നരികെയുള്ള പ്രദേശം ഒക്കെയും നീരോട്ടമുള്ളതെന്നു കണ്ടു; യഹോവ സൊദോമിനെയും ഗൊമോരയെയും നശിപ്പിച്ചതിന്നു മുമ്പെ അതു യഹോവയുടെ തോട്ടംപോലെയും സോവര്വരെ മിസ്രയീംദേശംപോലെയും ആയിരുന്നു.

10. And Lot lift up his eyes and beheld all the country about Jordan, which was a plenteous country of water every where, before the LORD destroyed Sodom and Gomorra, even as the garden of the LORD, and as the land of Egypt till thou come to Zoar.

11. ലോത്ത് യോര്ദ്ദാന്നരികെയുള്ള പ്രദേശം ഒക്കെയും തിരഞ്ഞെടുത്തു; ഇങ്ങനെ ലോത്ത് കിഴക്കോട്ടു യാത്രയായി; അവര് തമ്മില് പരിഞ്ഞു.

11. Then Lot chose all the coasts of Jordan and took his journey from the east. And so departed the one brother from the other.

12. അബ്രാം കനാന് ദേശത്തു പാര്ത്തു; ലോത്ത് ആ പ്രദേശത്തിലെ പട്ടണങ്ങളില് പാര്ത്തു സൊദോംവരെ കൂടാരം നീക്കി നീക്കി അടിച്ചു.

12. Abram dwelled in the land of Canaan: And Lot in the cities of the plain, and tented till he came to Sodom.

13. സൊദോംനിവാസികള് ദുഷ്ടന്മാരും യഹോവയുടെ മുമ്പാകെ മഹാപാപികളും ആയിരുന്നു.

13. But the men of Sodom were wicked and sinned exceedingly against the LORD.

14. ലോത്ത് അബ്രാമിനെ വിട്ടു പിരിഞ്ഞശേഷം യഹോവ അബ്രാമിനോടു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തതുതലപൊക്കി, നീ ഇരിക്കുന്ന സ്ഥലത്തു നിന്നു വടക്കോട്ടും തെക്കോട്ടും കിഴക്കോട്ടും പടിഞ്ഞാറോട്ടും നോക്കുക.

14. And the LORD said unto Abram, after that Lot was departed from him: Lift up thine eyes and look from the place where thou art, northward, southward, eastward and westward,

15. നീ കാണുന്ന ഭൂമി ഒക്കെയും ഞാന് നിനക്കും നിന്റെ സന്തതിക്കും ശാശ്വതമായി തരും.

15. for all the land which thou seest will I give unto thee and to thy seed for ever.

16. ഞാന് നിന്റെ സന്തതിയെ ഭൂമിയിലെ പൊടിപോലെ ആക്കുംഭൂമിയിലെ പൊടിയെ എണ്ണുവാന് കഴിയുമെങ്കില് നിന്റെ സന്തതിയെയും എണ്ണാം.

16. And I will make thy seed, as the dust of the earth: so that if a man can number the dust of the earth, then shall thy seed also be numbered.

17. നീ പുറപ്പെട്ടു ദേശത്തു നെടുകെയും കുറുകെയും സഞ്ചരിക്ക; ഞാന് അതു നിനക്കു തരും.

17. Arise and walk about in the land, in the length of it and in the breadth for I will give it unto thee.

18. അപ്പോള് അബ്രാം കൂടാരം നീക്കി ഹെബ്രോനില് മമ്രേയുടെ തോപ്പില് വന്നു പാര്ത്തു; അവിടെ യഹോവേക്കു ഒരു യാഗപീഠം പണിതു.

18. Then Abram took down his tent, and went and dwelled in the oak grove of Mamre which is in Ebron and builded there an altar to the LORD.
