1. അനന്തരം യഹോവ അവന്നു മമ്രേയുടെ തോപ്പില്വെച്ചു പ്രത്യക്ഷനായി; വെയിലുറെച്ചപ്പോള് അവന് കൂടാരവാതില്ക്കല് ഇരിക്കയായിരുന്നു.

1. The LORD appeared to Abraham at the sacred trees of Mamre. As Abraham was sitting at the entrance of his tent during the hottest part of the day,

3. യജമാനനേ, എന്നോടു കൃപയുണ്ടെങ്കില് അടിയനെ കടന്നുപോകരുതേ.

3. he said, 'Sirs, please do not pass by my home without stopping; I am here to serve you.

4. അസാരം വെള്ളം കൊണ്ടുവന്നു നിങ്ങളുടെ കാലുകളെ കഴുകട്ടെ; വൃക്ഷത്തിന് കീഴില് ഇരിപ്പിന് .

4. Let me bring some water for you to wash your feet; you can rest here beneath this tree.

5. ഞാന് ഒരു മുറി അപ്പം കൊണ്ടുവരാം; വിശപ്പു അടക്കീട്ടു നിങ്ങള്ക്കു പോകാം; ഇതിന്നായിട്ടല്ലോ നിങ്ങള് അടിയന്റെ അടുക്കല് കയറിവന്നതു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. നീ പറഞ്ഞതുപോലെ ആകട്ടെ എന്നു അവര് പറഞ്ഞു.

5. I will also bring a bit of food; it will give you strength to continue your journey. You have honored me by coming to my home, so let me serve you.' They replied, 'Thank you; we accept.'

6. അബ്രഹാം ബദ്ധപ്പെട്ടു കൂടാരത്തില് സാറയുടെ അടുക്കല് ചെന്നുനീ ക്ഷണത്തില് മൂന്നിടങ്ങഴി മാവു എടുത്തു കുഴെച്ചു അപ്പമുണ്ടാക്കുക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

6. Abraham hurried into the tent and said to Sarah, 'Quick, take a sack of your best flour, and bake some bread.'

7. അബ്രാഹാം പശുക്കൂട്ടത്തില് ഔടിച്ചെന്നു ഇളയതും നല്ലതുമായൊരു കാളകൂട്ടിയെ പിടിച്ചു ഒരു ബാല്യക്കാരന്റെ പക്കല് കൊടുത്തു; അവന് അതിനെ ക്ഷണത്തില് പാകം ചെയ്തു.

7. Then he ran to the herd and picked out a calf that was tender and fat, and gave it to a servant, who hurried to get it ready.

8. പിന്നെ അവന് വെണ്ണയും പാലും താന് പാകം ചെയ്യിച്ച കാളകൂട്ടിയെയും കൊണ്ടുവന്നു അവരുടെ മുമ്പില് വെച്ചു. അവരുടെ അടുക്കല് വൃക്ഷത്തിന് കീഴില് ശുശ്രൂഷിച്ചു നിന്നു; അവര് ഭക്ഷണം കഴിച്ചു.

8. He took some cream, some milk, and the meat, and set the food before the men. There under the tree he served them himself, and they ate.

9. അവര് അവനോടുനിന്റെ ഭാര്യ സാറാ എവിടെ എന്നു ചോദിച്ചതിന്നുകൂടാരത്തില് ഉണ്ടു എന്നു അവന് പറഞ്ഞു.

9. Then they asked him, 'Where is your wife Sarah?' 'She is there in the tent,' he answered.

10. ഒരു ആണ്ടു കഴിഞ്ഞിട്ടു ഞാന് നിന്റെ അടുക്കല് മടങ്ങിവരും; അപ്പോള് നിന്റെ ഭാര്യ സാറെക്കു ഒരു മകന് ഉണ്ടാകും എന്നു അവന് പറഞ്ഞു. സാറാ കൂടാരവാതില്ക്കല് അവന്റെ പിന് വശത്തു കേട്ടുകൊണ്ടു നിന്നു.

10. One of them said, 'Nine months from now I will come back, and your wife Sarah will have a son.' Sarah was behind him, at the door of the tent, listening.

11. Abraham and Sarah were very old, and Sarah had stopped having her monthly periods.

12. ആകയാല് സാറാ ഉള്ളുകൊണ്ടു ചിരിച്ചുവൃദ്ധയായിരിക്കുന്ന എനിക്കു സുഖഭോഗമുണ്ടാകുമോ? എന്റെ ഭര്ത്താവും വൃദ്ധനായിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

12. So Sarah laughed to herself and said, 'Now that I am old and worn out, can I still enjoy sex? And besides, my husband is old too.'

13. യഹോവ അബ്രാഹാമിനോടുവൃദ്ധയായ ഞാന് പ്രസവിക്കുന്നതു വാസ്തവമോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു സാറാ ചിരിച്ചതു എന്തു?

13. Then the LORD asked Abraham, 'Why did Sarah laugh and say, 'Can I really have a child when I am so old?'

14. യഹോവയാല് കഴിയാത്ത കാര്യം ഉണ്ടോ? ഒരു ആണ്ടു കഴിഞ്ഞിട്ടു ഈ സമയമാകുമ്പോള് ഞാന് നിന്റെ അടുക്കല് മടങ്ങിവരും; സാറെക്കു ഒരു മകന് ഉണ്ടാകും എന്നു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തു.

14. Is anything too hard for the LORD? As I said, nine months from now I will return, and Sarah will have a son.'

15. സാറാ ഭയപ്പെട്ടുഇല്ല, ഞാന് ചിരിച്ചില്ല എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അങ്ങനെയല്ല, നീ ചിരിച്ചു എന്നു അവന് അരുളിച്ചെയ്തു.

15. Because Sarah was afraid, she denied it. 'I didn't laugh,' she said. 'Yes, you did,' he replied. 'You laughed.'

16. ആ പുരുഷന്മാര് അവിടെനിന്നു പുറപ്പെട്ടു സൊദോംവഴിക്കു തിരിഞ്ഞു; അബ്രാഹാം അവരെ യാത്ര അയപ്പാന് അവരോടുകൂടെ പോയി.

16. Then the men left and went to a place where they could look down at Sodom, and Abraham went with them to send them on their way.

17. അപ്പോള് യഹോവ അരുളിച്ചെയ്തതുഞാന് ചെയ്വാനിരിക്കുന്നതു അബ്രാഹാമിനോടു മറെച്ചുവെക്കുമോ?

17. And the LORD said to himself, 'I will not hide from Abraham what I am going to do.

18. അബ്രാഹാം വലിയതും ബലമുള്ളതുമായ ജാതിയായി തീരുകയും അവനില് ഭൂമിയിലെ ജാതികളൊക്കെയും അനുഗ്രഹിക്കപ്പെടുകയും ചെയ്യുമല്ലോ.

18. His descendants will become a great and mighty nation, and through him I will bless all the nations.

19. യഹോവ അബ്രാഹാമിനെക്കുറിച്ചു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തതു അവന്നു നിവൃത്തിച്ചുകൊടുപ്പാന് തക്കവണ്ണം അബ്രാഹാം തന്റെ മക്കളോടും തനിക്കു പിമ്പുള്ള കുടുംബത്തോടും നീതിയും ന്യായവും പ്രവൃത്തിച്ചുകൊണ്ടു യഹോവയുടെ വഴിയില് നടപ്പാന് കല്പിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു ഞാന് അവനെ തിരഞ്ഞെടുത്തിരിക്കുന്നു.

19. I have chosen him in order that he may command his sons and his descendants to obey me and to do what is right and just. If they do, I will do everything for him that I have promised.'

20. പിന്നെ യഹോവസൊദോമിന്റെയും ഗൊമോരയുടെയും നിലവിളി വലിയതും അവരുടെ പാപം അതി കഠിനവും ആകുന്നു.

20. Then the LORD said to Abraham, 'There are terrible accusations against Sodom and Gomorrah, and their sin is very great.

21. ഞാന് ചെന്നു എന്റെ അടുക്കല് വന്നെത്തിയ നിലവിളിപോലെ അവര് കേവലം പ്രവൃത്തിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ടോ ഇല്ലയോ എന്നു നോക്കി അറിയും എന്നു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തു.

21. I must go down to find out whether or not the accusations which I have heard are true.'

22. അങ്ങനെ ആ പുരുഷന്മാര് അവിടെനിന്നു തിരിഞ്ഞു സൊദോമിലേക്കു പോയി. അബ്രാഹാമോ യഹോവയുടെ സന്നിധിയില് തന്നേ നിന്നു.

22. Then the two men left and went on toward Sodom, but the LORD remained with Abraham.

23. അബ്രാഹാം അടുത്തുചെന്നു പറഞ്ഞതുദുഷ്ടനോടുകൂടെ നീതിമാനെയും നീ സംഹരിക്കുമോ?

23. Abraham approached the LORD and asked, 'Are you really going to destroy the innocent with the guilty?

24. പക്ഷേ ആ പട്ടണത്തില് അമ്പതു നീതിമാന്മാര് ഉണ്ടെങ്കില് നീ അതിനെ സംഹരിക്കുമോ? അതിലെ അമ്പതു നീതിമാന്മാര് നിമിത്തം ആ സ്ഥലത്തോടു ക്ഷമിക്കയില്ലയോ?

24. If there are fifty innocent people in the city, will you destroy the whole city? Won't you spare it in order to save the fifty?

25. ഇങ്ങനെ നീ ഒരുനാളും ചെയ്യുന്നതല്ലല്ലോ? നീതിമാന് ദുഷ്ടനെപ്പോലെ ആകത്തക്കവണ്ണം ദുഷ്ടനോടുകൂടെ നീതിമാനെ നീ ഒരുനാളും കൊല്ലുകയില്ല. സര്വ്വ ഭൂമിക്കും ന്യായാധിപതിയായവന് നീതി പ്രവൃത്തിക്കാതിരിക്കുമോ?
എബ്രായർ 12:23

25. Surely you won't kill the innocent with the guilty. That's impossible! You can't do that. If you did, the innocent would be punished along with the guilty. That is impossible. The judge of all the earth has to act justly.'

26. അതിന്നു യഹോവഞാന് സൊദോമില്, പട്ടണത്തിന്നകത്തു, അമ്പതു നീതിമാന്മാരെ കാണുന്നു എങ്കില് അവരുടെ നിമിത്തം ആ സ്ഥലത്തോടൊക്കെയും ക്ഷമിക്കും എന്നു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തു.

26. The LORD answered, 'If I find fifty innocent people in Sodom, I will spare the whole city for their sake.'

27. പൊടിയും വെണ്ണീറുമായ ഞാന് കര്ത്താവിനോടു സംസാരിപ്പാന് തുനിഞ്ഞുവല്ലോ.

27. Abraham spoke again: 'Please forgive my boldness in continuing to speak to you, Lord. I am only a man and have no right to say anything.

28. അമ്പതു നീതിമാന്മാരില് പക്ഷേ അഞ്ചുപേര് കുറഞ്ഞു പോയെങ്കിലോ? അഞ്ചുപേര് കുറഞ്ഞതുകൊണ്ടു നീ ആ പട്ടണം മുഴുവനും നശിപ്പിക്കുമോ എന്നു അബ്രാഹാം പറഞ്ഞതിന്നുനാല്പത്തഞ്ചു പേരെ ഞാന് അവിടെ കണ്ടാല് അതിനെ നശിപ്പിക്കയില്ല എന്നു അവന് അരുളിച്ചെയ്തു.

28. But perhaps there will be only forty-five innocent people instead of fifty. Will you destroy the whole city because there are five too few?' The LORD answered, 'I will not destroy the city if I find forty-five innocent people.'

29. അവന് പിന്നെയും അവനോടു സംസാരിച്ചുപക്ഷേ നാല്പതുപേരെ അവിടെ കണ്ടാലോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞതിന്നുഞാന് നാല്പതുപേരുടെ നിമിത്തം നശിപ്പിക്കയില്ല എന്നു അവന് അരുളിച്ചെയ്തു.

29. Abraham spoke again: 'Perhaps there will be only forty.' He replied, 'I will not destroy it if there are forty.'

30. അതിന്നു അവന് ഞാന് പിന്നെയും സംസാരിക്കുന്നു; കര്ത്താവു കോപിക്കരുതേ; പക്ഷേ മുപ്പതുപേരെ അവിടെ കണ്ടാലോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. ഞാന് മുപ്പതുപേരെ അവിടെ കണ്ടാല് നശിപ്പിക്കയില്ല എന്നു അവന് അരുളിച്ചെയ്തു.

30. Abraham said, 'Please don't be angry, Lord, but I must speak again. What if there are only thirty?' He said, 'I will not do it if I find thirty.'

31. ഞാന് കര്ത്താവിനോടു സംസാരിപ്പാന് തുനിഞ്ഞുവല്ലോ; പക്ഷേ ഇരുപതുപേരെ അവിടെ കണ്ടാലോ എന്നു അവന് പറഞ്ഞതിന്നുഞാന് ഇരുപതുപേരുടെ നിമിത്തം നശിപ്പിക്കയില്ല എന്നു അവന് അരുളിച്ചെയ്തു.

31. Abraham said, 'Please forgive my boldness in continuing to speak to you, Lord. Suppose that only twenty are found?' He said, 'I will not destroy the city if I find twenty.'

32. അപ്പോള് അവന് കര്ത്താവു കോപിക്കരുതേ; ഞാന് ഇനി ഒരു പ്രാവശ്യം മാത്രം സംസാരിക്കും; പക്ഷേ പത്തു പേരെ അവിടെ കണ്ടാലോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. ഞാന് പത്തുപേരുടെ നിമിത്തം നശിപ്പിക്കയില്ല എന്നു അവന് അരുളിച്ചെയ്തു.

32. Abraham said, 'Please don't be angry, Lord, and I will speak only once more. What if only ten are found?' He said, 'I will not destroy it if there are ten.'

33. യഹോവ അബ്രാഹാമിനോടു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തു തീര്ന്നശേഷം അവിടെനിന്നു പോയി. അബ്രാഹാമും തന്റെ സ്ഥലത്തേക്കു മടങ്ങിപ്പോയി.

33. After he had finished speaking with Abraham, the LORD went away, and Abraham returned home.
