1. അങ്ങനെ യോസേഫ് ചെന്നുഎന്റെ അപ്പനും സഹോദരന്മാരും അവരുടെ ആടുകളും കന്നുകാലികളും അവര്ക്കുംള്ളതൊക്കെയും കനാന് ദേശത്തുനിന്നു വന്നു; ഗോശെന് ദേശത്തു ഇരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു ഫറവോനെ ബോധിപ്പിച്ചു.

1. And Joseph came and reported to Pharaoh, and said, My father and my brothers, their flocks and their herds and all that they possess, have come from the land of Canaan; and behold, they are in the land of Goshen.

2. പിന്നെ അവന് തന്റെ സഹോദരന്മാരില് അഞ്ചുപേരെ കൂട്ടിക്കൊണ്ടുചെന്നു ഫറവോന്റെ സന്നിധിയില് നിര്ത്തി.

2. And he took five men from among his brothers and presented them before Pharaoh.

3. അപ്പോള് ഫറവോന് അവന്റെ സഹോദരന്മാരോടുനിങ്ങളുടെ തൊഴില് എന്തു എന്നു ചോദിച്ചതിന്നു അവര് ഫറവോനോടുഅടിയങ്ങളും അടിയങ്ങളുടെ പിതാക്കന്മാരും ഇടയന്മാരാകുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

3. And Pharaoh said to his brothers, What is your occupation? And they said to Pharaoh, Your servants are shepherds, both we and also our fathers.

4. ദേശത്തു താമസിപ്പാന് ഞങ്ങള് വന്നിരിക്കുന്നു; കനാന് ദേശത്തു ക്ഷാമം കഠിനമായിരിക്കയാല് അടിയങ്ങളുടെ ആടുകള്ക്കു മേച്ചലില്ല; അടിയങ്ങള് ഗോശെന് ദേശത്തു പാര്ത്തുകൊള്ളട്ടെ എന്നും അവര് ഫറവോനോടു പറഞ്ഞു.

4. And they said to Pharaoh, We have come to sojourn in the land, because your servants have no pasture for their flocks, for the famine is severe in the land of Canaan. Now therefore, please let your servants dwell in the land of Goshen.

5. ഫറവോന് യോസേഫിനോടുനിന്റെ അപ്പനും സഹോദരന്മാരും നിന്റെ അടുക്കല് വന്നിരിക്കുന്നുവല്ലോ.

5. And Pharaoh spoke to Joseph, saying, Your father and your brothers have come to you.

6. മിസ്രയീംദേശം നിന്റെ മുമ്പാകെ ഇരിക്കുന്നു; ദേശത്തിലേക്കും നല്ലഭാഗത്തു നിന്റെ അപ്പനെയും സഹോദരന്മാരെയും പാര്പ്പിക്ക; അവര് ഗോശെന് ദേശത്തുതന്നേ പാര്ത്തുകൊള്ളട്ടെ. അവരില് പ്രാപ്തന്മാര് ഉണ്ടെന്നു നീ അറിയുന്നു എങ്കില് അവരെ എന്റെ ആടുമാടുകളുടെ മേല് വിചാരകന്മാരാക്കി വെക്കുക എന്നു കല്പിച്ചു.

6. The land of Egypt is before you. Have your father and brothers dwell in the best of the land; let them dwell in the land of Goshen. And if you know any men with ability among them, make them chief herdsmen over my livestock.

7. യേസേഫ് തന്റെ അപ്പനായ യാക്കോബിനെയും അകത്തു കൊണ്ടുചെന്നു, അവനെ ഫറവോന്റെ സന്നിധിയില് നിര്ത്തി,

7. And Joseph brought in his father Jacob and presented him before Pharaoh; and Jacob blessed Pharaoh.

8. യാക്കോബ് ഫറവോനെ അനുഗ്രഹിച്ചു. ഫറവോന് യാക്കോബിനോടുഎത്ര വയസ്സായി എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.

8. And Pharaoh said to Jacob, How many are the days of the years of your life?

9. യാക്കോബ് ഫറവോനോടുഎന്റെ പരദേശപ്രയാണത്തിന്റെ കാലം നൂറ്റിമുപ്പതു സംവത്സരം ആയിരിക്കുന്നു. എന്റെ ആയുഷ്കാലം ചുരുക്കവും കഷ്ടമുള്ളതും അത്രേ; എന്റെ പിതാക്കന്മാരുടെ പരദേശപ്രയാണമായ ആയുഷ്കാലത്തോളം എത്തീട്ടുമില്ല എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

9. And Jacob said to Pharaoh, The days of the years of my pilgrimage are one hundred and thirty years; few and evil have been the days of the years of my life, and they have not attained to the days of the years of the life of my fathers in the days of their pilgrimage.

10. യാക്കോബ് ഫറവോനെ പിന്നെയും അനുഗ്രഹിച്ചു ഫറവോന്റെ സന്നിധിയില്നിന്നു പോയി.

10. And Jacob blessed Pharaoh, and went out from before Pharaoh.

11. അനന്തരം യോസേഫ് തന്റെ അപ്പനെയും സഹോദരന്മാരെയും കുടിപാര്പ്പിച്ചു; ഫറവോന് കല്പിച്ചതുപോലെ അവര്ക്കും മിസ്രയീംദേശത്തിലേക്കും നല്ല ഭാഗമായ രമെസേസ് ദേശത്തു അവകാശവും കൊടുത്തു.

11. And Joseph situated his father and his brothers, and gave them property in the land of Egypt, in the best of the land, in the land of Rameses, as Pharaoh had commanded.

12. യോസെഫ് തന്റെ അപ്പനെയും സഹോദരന്മാരെയും അപ്പന്റെ കുടുംബത്തെ ഒക്കെയും കുഞ്ഞുകുട്ടികളുടെ എണ്ണത്തിന്നു ഒത്തവണ്ണം ആഹാരം കൊടുത്തു രക്ഷിച്ചു.

12. And Joseph sustained his father, his brothers, and all his father's house with food, according to the mouths of the children.

13. എന്നാല് ക്ഷാമം ഏറ്റവും കഠിനമായിരുന്നതുകൊണ്ടു ദേശത്തെങ്ങും ആഹാരമില്ലാതെയായി മിസ്രയീംദേശവും കനാന് ദേശവും ക്ഷാമംകൊണ്ടു വലഞ്ഞു.

13. And there was no bread in all the land; for the famine was very severe, so that the land of Egypt and the land of Canaan languished because of the famine.

14. ജനങ്ങള് വാങ്ങിയ ധാന്യത്തിന്നു വിലയായി യോസേഫ് മിസ്രയീംദേശത്തും കനാന് ദേശത്തുമുള്ള പണം ഒക്കെയും ശേഖരിച്ചു; പണം യോസേഫ് ഫറവോന്റെ ഗൃഹത്തില് കൊണ്ടുവന്നു.

14. And Joseph gathered up all the money that was found in the land of Egypt and in the land of Canaan, for the grain which they bought; and Joseph brought the money into Pharaoh's house.

15. മിസ്രയീംദേശത്തും കനാന് ദേശത്തും പണം ഇല്ലാതെയായപ്പോള് മിസ്രയീമ്യര് ഒക്കെയും യോസേഫിന്റെ അടുക്കല് ചെന്നുഞങ്ങള്ക്കു ആഹാരം തരേണം; ഞങ്ങള് നിന്റെ മുമ്പില് കിടന്നു മരിക്കുന്നതു എന്തിന്നു? പണം തീര്ന്നുപോയി എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

15. And when the money failed in the land of Egypt and in the land of Canaan, all the Egyptians came to Joseph and said, Give us bread, for why should we die in your presence? For the money has failed.

16. അതിന്നു യോസേഫ്നിങ്ങളുടെ ആടുമാടുകളെ തരുവിന് ; പണം തീര്ന്നുപോയെങ്കില് നിങ്ങളുടെ ആടുമാടുകളെ വിലയായി വാങ്ങി ഞാന് തരാം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

16. And Joseph said, Give your livestock, and I will give you bread for your livestock, if the money has failed.

17. അങ്ങനെ അവര് തങ്ങളുടെ കന്നുകാലികളെ യോസേഫിന്റെ അടുക്കല് കൊണ്ടുവന്നു; കുതിര, ആടു, കന്നുകാലി, കഴുത എന്നിവയെ യോസേഫ് വിലയായി വാങ്ങി അവര്ക്കും ആഹാരം കൊടുത്തു; ആയാണ്ടില് അവരുടെ കന്നുകാലികളെ എല്ലാം വാങ്ങി ആഹാരം കൊടുത്തു അവരെ രക്ഷിച്ചു.

17. So they brought their livestock to Joseph, and Joseph gave them bread in exchange for the horses, the flocks, the cattle of the herds, and for the donkeys. Thus he fed them with bread in exchange for all their livestock that year.

18. ആ ആണ്ടു കഴിഞ്ഞു പിറ്റെ ആണ്ടില് അവര് അവന്റെ അടുക്കല് ചെന്നു അവനോടു പറഞ്ഞതുഞങ്ങളുടെ പണം ചെലവായി, മൃഗക്കൂട്ടങ്ങളും യജമാനന്നു ചേര്ന്നു; ഞങ്ങളുടെ ശരീരങ്ങളും നിലങ്ങളുമല്ലാതെ യജമാനന്റെ മുമ്പാകെ ഒന്നും ശേഷിപ്പില്ല എന്നുള്ളതു യജമാനനെ ഞങ്ങള് മറെക്കുന്നില്ല.

18. When that year had ended, they came to him the next year and said to him, We will not hide from my lord that our money is gone; my lord also has our cattle and livestock. Nothing remains before my lord but our bodies and our lands.

19. ഞങ്ങളും ഞങ്ങളുടെ നിലവും നിന്റെ കണ്ണിന്നു മുമ്പില് എന്തിന്നു നശിക്കുന്നു? നീ ഞങ്ങളെയും നിലത്തെയും ആഹാരത്തിന്നു വിലയായി വാങ്ങേണം. ഞങ്ങള് നിലവുമായി ഫറവോന്നു അടിമകള് ആകട്ടെ. ഞങ്ങള് മരിക്കാതെ ജീവനോടിരിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നും നിലം ശൂന്യമായി പോകാതിരിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നും ഞങ്ങള്ക്കു വിത്തു തരേണം.

19. Why should we die before your eyes, both we and our land? Buy us and our land for bread, and we and our land will be servants of Pharaoh; give us seed, that we may live and not die, that the land not be desolate.

20. അങ്ങനെ യോസേഫ് മിസ്രയീമിലെ നിലം ഒക്കെയും ഫറവോന്നു വിലെക്കു വാങ്ങി; ക്ഷാമം പ്രബലപ്പെടുകകൊണ്ടു മിസ്രയീമ്യര് തങ്ങളുടെ നിലം വിറ്റു; നിലമെല്ലാം ഫറവോന്നു ആയി.

20. And Joseph bought all the land of Egypt for Pharaoh; for every man of the Egyptians sold his field, because the famine was severe upon them. So the land became Pharaoh's.

21. ജനങ്ങളേയോ അവന് മിസ്രയീംദേശത്തിന്റെ അറ്റംമുതല് അറ്റംവരെ പട്ടണങ്ങളിലേക്കു കുടിനീക്കി പാര്പ്പിച്ചു.

21. And as for the people, he moved them into the cities, from one end of the borders of Egypt to the other end.

22. പുരോഹിതന്മാരുടെ നിലം മാത്രം അവന് വാങ്ങിയില്ല; പുരോഹിതന്മാര്ക്കും ഫറവോന് അവകാശം കല്പിച്ചിരുന്നു; ഫറവോന് അവര്ക്കും കൊടുത്ത അവകാശം കൊണ്ടു അവര് ഉപജീവനം കഴിച്ചതിനാല് അവര് തങ്ങളുടെ നിലം വിറ്റില്ല.

22. Only the land of the priests he did not buy; for the priests had portions prescribed to them by Pharaoh, and they ate their portions which Pharaoh gave them; therefore they did not sell their lands.

23. യോസേഫ് ജനങ്ങളോടുഞാന് ഇന്നു നിങ്ങളെയും നിങ്ങളുടെ നിലത്തെയും ഫറവോന്നു വിലെക്കു വാങ്ങിയിരിക്കുന്നു; നിങ്ങള്ക്കു വിത്തു ഇതാ; നിലം വിതെച്ചുകൊള്വിന് .

23. Then Joseph said to the people, Behold, I have bought you and your land this day for Pharaoh. Behold, here is seed for you, and you shall sow the land.

24. വിളവെടുക്കുമ്പോള് നിങ്ങള് ഫറവോന്നു അഞ്ചിലൊന്നു കൊടുക്കേണം; നാലോഹരിയോ, വിത്തിന്നു വിത്തായിട്ടും നിങ്ങള്ക്കും നിങ്ങളുടെ വീടുകളിലുള്ളവര്ക്കും നിങ്ങളുടെ കുഞ്ഞുകുട്ടികള്ക്കും ആഹാരമായിട്ടും നിങ്ങള്ക്കു തന്നേ ഇരിക്കട്ടെ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

24. And it shall come to pass in the harvest that you shall give one-fifth to Pharaoh; and four-fifths shall be your own, as seed for the field and for your food, for those of your houses and as food for your little ones.

25. അതിന്നു അവര്നീ ഞങ്ങളുടെ ജീവനെ രക്ഷിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു; യജമാനന്നു ഞങ്ങളോടു ദയയുണ്ടായാല് മതി; ഞങ്ങള് ഫറവോന്നു അടിമകളായിക്കൊള്ളാം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

25. And they said, You have saved our lives; let us find favor in the eyes of my lord, and we will be Pharaoh's servants.

26. അഞ്ചിലൊന്നു ഫറവൊന്നു ചെല്ലേണം എന്നിങ്ങിനെ യോസേഫ് മിസ്രയീമിലെ നിലങ്ങളെ സംബന്ധിച്ചുവെച്ച ചട്ടം ഇന്നുവരെയും നടപ്പാകുന്നു. പുരോഹിതന്മാരുടെ നിലം മാത്രം ഫറവോന്നു ചേര്ന്നിട്ടില്ല.

26. And Joseph made it a law over the land of Egypt to this day, that Pharaoh should have one-fifth, except for the land of the priests only, which did not become Pharaoh's.

27. യിസ്രായേല് മിസ്രയീംരാജ്യത്തിലെ ഗോശെന് ദേശത്തു പാര്ത്തു; അവിടെ അവകാശം സമ്പാദിച്ചു, ഏറ്റവും സന്താനപുഷ്ടിയുള്ളവരായി പെരുകിവന്നു.

27. And Israel remained in the land of Egypt, in the land of Goshen; and they settled on property they owned there and grew and multiplied exceedingly.

28. യാക്കോബ് മിസ്രയീംദേശത്തു വന്നിട്ടു പതിനേഴു സംവത്സരം ജീവിച്ചിരുന്നു; യാക്കോബിന്റെ ആയുഷ്കാലം ആകെ നൂറ്റിനാല്പത്തേഴു സംവത്സരം ആയിരുന്നു.

28. And Jacob lived in the land of Egypt seventeen years. So the days of Jacob's life was one hundred and forty-seven years.

29. യിസ്രായേല് മരിപ്പാനുള്ള കാലം അടുത്തപ്പോള് അവന് തന്റെ മകനായ യോസേഫിനെ വിളിപ്പിച്ചു അവനോടുനിനക്കു എന്നോടു കൃപയുണ്ടെങ്കില് നിന്റെ കൈ എന്റെ തുടയില്കീഴില് വെക്കുക; എന്നോടു ദയയും വിശ്വസ്തതയും കാണിച്ചു എന്നെ മിസ്രയീമില് അടക്കാതെ,

29. And the time drew near for Israel to die. And he called his son Joseph and said to him, Now if I have found favor in your eyes, please put your hand under my thigh, and deal kindly and truly with me. Please do not bury me in Egypt,

30. ഞാന് എന്റെ പിതാക്കന്മാരെപ്പോലെ നിദ്രകൊള്ളുമ്പോള് എന്നെ മിസ്രയീമില്നിന്നു എടുത്തുകൊണ്ടുപോയി അവരുടെ ശ്മശാനഭൂമിയില് അടക്കേണം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. നിന്റെ കല്പനപ്രകാരം ഞാന് ചെയ്യാം എന്നു അവന് പറഞ്ഞു.

30. but let me lie with my fathers. You shall carry me out of Egypt and bury me in their burial place. And he said, I will do as you have said.

31. എന്നോടു സത്യം ചെയ്ക എന്നു അവന് പറഞ്ഞു; അവന് സത്യവും ചെയ്തു; അപ്പോള് യിസ്രായേല് കട്ടിലിന്റെ തലെക്കല് നമസ്കരിച്ചു.

31. And he said, Swear to me. And he swore to him. And Israel prostrated himself on the head of the bed.
