1. അനന്തരം ദാവീദ്ഞാന് യോനാഥാന്റെ നിമിത്തം ദയ കാണിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു ശൌലിന്റെ കുടുംബത്തില് ആരെങ്കിലും ശേഷിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നുവോ എന്നു അന്വേഷിച്ചു.

1. And David said, Is there yet any who is left of the house of Saul that I may show him kindness for Jonathan's sake?

2. എന്നാല് ശൌലിന്റെ ഗൃഹത്തില് സീബാ എന്നു പേരുള്ള ഒരു ഭൃത്യന് ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു; അവനെ ദാവീദിന്റെ അടുക്കല് വിളിച്ചുവരുത്തി; രാജാവു അവനോടുനീ സീബയോ എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു. അടിയന് എന്നു അവന് പറഞ്ഞു.

2. And there was of the house of Saul a servant whose name was Ziba, and they called him to David. And the king said to him, Are thou Ziba? And he said, Thy servant is he.

3. ഞാന് ദൈവത്തിന്റെ ദയ കാണിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു ശൌലിന്റെ കുടുംബത്തില് ആരെങ്കിലും ഉണ്ടോ എന്നു രാജാവു ചോദിച്ചതിന്നുരണ്ടു കാലും മുടന്തായിട്ടു യോനാഥാന്റെ ഒരു മകന് ഉണ്ടു എന്നു സീബാ രാജാവിനോടു പറഞ്ഞു.

3. And the king said, Is there not yet any of the house of Saul that I may show the kindness of God to him? And Ziba said to the king, Jonathan has yet a son who is lame in his feet.

4. അവന് എവിടെ എന്നു രാജാവു ചോദിച്ചതിന്നുലോദെബാരില് അമ്മീയേലിന്റെ മകനായ മാഖീരിന്റെ വീട്ടിലുണ്ടു എന്നു സീബാ രാജാവിനോടു പറഞ്ഞു.

4. And the king said to him, Where is he? And Ziba said to the king, Behold, he is in the house of Machir the son of Ammiel, in Lo-debar.

5. അപ്പോള് ദാവീദ് രാജാവു ആളയച്ചു, ലോദെബാരില് അമ്മീയേലിന്റെ മകനായ മാഖീരിന്റെ വീട്ടില് നിന്നു അവനെ വരുത്തി.

5. Then king David sent, and fetched him out of the house of Machir the son of Ammiel, from Lo-debar.

6. ശൌലിന്റെ മകനായ യോനാഥാന്റെ മകന് മെഫീബോശെത്ത് ദാവീദിന്റെ അടുക്കല് വന്നു സാഷ്ടാംഗം വീണു നമസ്കരിച്ചു. ദാവീദ്മെഫീബോശെത്തേ എന്നു വിളിച്ചതിന്നു അടിയന് എന്നു അവന് പറഞ്ഞു.

6. And Mephibosheth, the son of Jonathan, the son of Saul, came to David, and fell on his face, and did obeisance. And David said, Mephibosheth. And he answered, Behold, thy servant!

7. ദാവീദ് അവനോടുഭയപ്പെടേണ്ടാ; നിന്റെ അപ്പനായ യോനാഥാന്റെ നിമിത്തം ഞാന് നിന്നോടു ദയകാണിച്ചു നിന്റെ അപ്പനായ ശൌലിന്റെ നിലം ഒക്കെയും നിനക്കു മടക്കിത്തരുന്നു; നീയോ നിത്യം എന്റെ മേശയിങ്കല് ഭക്ഷണം കഴിച്ചുകൊള്ളേണം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

7. And David said to him, Fear not, for I will surely show thee kindness for Jonathan thy father's sake, and will restore to thee all the land of Saul thy father, and thou shall eat bread at my table continually.

8. അവന് നമസ്കരിച്ചുംകൊണ്ടുചത്ത നായെപ്പോലെ ഇരിക്കുന്ന അടിയനെ നീ കടാക്ഷിപ്പാന് അടിയന് എന്തുള്ളു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

8. And he did obeisance, and said, What is thy servant that thou should look upon such a dead dog as I am?

9. അപ്പോള് രാജാവു ശൌലിന്റെ ഭൃത്യനായ സീബയെ വിളിപ്പിച്ചു അവനോടു കല്പിച്ചതുശൌലിന്നു അവന്റെ സകലഗൃഹത്തിന്നുമുള്ളതൊക്കെയും ഞാന് നിന്റെ യജമാനന്റെ മകന്നു കൊടുത്തിരിക്കുന്നു.

9. Then the king called to Ziba, Saul's servant, and said to him, All that pertained to Saul and to all his house I have given to thy master's son.

10. നീയും നിന്റെ പുത്രന്മാരും വേലക്കാരും നിന്റെ യജമാനന്റെ മകന്നു ഭക്ഷിപ്പാന് ആഹാരമുണ്ടാകേണ്ടതിന്നു അവന്നുവേണ്ടി ആ നിലം കൃഷിചെയ്തു അനുഭവം എടുക്കേണം; നിന്റെ യജമാനന്റെ മകനായ മെഫീബോശെത്ത് നിത്യം എന്റെ മേശയിങ്കല് ഭക്ഷണം കഴിച്ചുകൊള്ളും. എന്നാല് സീബെക്കു പതിനഞ്ചുപുത്രന്മാരും ഇരുപതു വേലക്കാരും ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു.

10. And thou shall till the land for him, thou, and thy sons, and thy servants. And thou shall bring in the fruits that thy master's son may have bread to eat, but Mephibosheth thy master's son shall always eat bread at my table. Now Ziba had fifteen sons and twenty servants.

11. രാജാവായ യജമാനന് അടിയനോടു കല്പിക്കുന്നതൊക്കെയും അടിയന് ചെയ്യും എന്നു സീബാ രാജാവിനോടു പറഞ്ഞു. മെഫീബോശെത്തോ രാജകുമാരന്മാരില് ഒരുത്തന് എന്നപോലെ ദാവീദിന്റെ മേശയിങ്കല് ഭക്ഷണം കഴിച്ചുപോന്നു.

11. Then Ziba said to the king, According to all that my lord the king commands his servant, so shall thy servant do. As for Mephibosheth, the king said, he shall eat at my table as one of the king's sons.

12. മെഫീബോശെത്തിന്നു ഒരു ചെറിയ മകന് ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു; അവന്നു മീഖാ എന്നു പേര്. സീബയുടെ വീട്ടിലുള്ളവരൊക്കെയും മെഫീബോശെത്തിന്നു ഭൃത്യന്മാരായ്തീര്ന്നു.

12. And Mephibosheth had a young son, whose name was Mica. And all who dwelt in the house of Ziba were servants to Mephibosheth.

13. ഇങ്ങനെ മെഫീബോശെത്ത് യെരൂശലേമില് തന്നേ വസിച്ചു രാജാവിന്റെ മേശയിങ്കല് ഭക്ഷണം കഴിച്ചുപോന്നു; അവന്നു കാലു രണ്ടും മുടന്തായിരുന്നു.

13. So Mephibosheth dwelt in Jerusalem, for he ate continually at the king's table. And he was lame in both his feet.
