1. യിസ്രായേല്രാജാവായ യെഹോവാഹാസിന്റെ മകനായ യോവാശിന്റെ രണ്ടാം ആണ്ടില് യെഹൂദാരാജാവായ യോവാശിന്റെ മകന് അമസ്യാവു രാജാവായി.

1. In the second year of Jehoash son of Jehoahaz king of Israel, Amaziah son of Joash king of Judah began to reign.

2. അവന് വാഴ്ചതുടങ്ങിയപ്പോള് അവന്നു ഇരുപത്തഞ്ചു വയസ്സായിരുന്നു; അവന് യെരൂശലേമില് ഇരുപത്തൊമ്പതു സംവത്സരം വാണു. യെരൂശലേംകാരത്തിയായ അവന്റെ അമ്മെക്കു യെഹോവദ്ദാന് എന്നു പേര്.

2. He was twenty-five years old when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem twenty-nine years. His mother's name was Jehoaddin; she was from Jerusalem.

3. അവന് യഹോവേക്കു പ്രസാദമായുള്ളതു ചെയ്തു. തന്റെ പിതാവായ ദാവീദ് എന്നപോലെ അല്ലതാനും; തന്റെ അപ്പനായ യോവാശ് ചെയ്തതു പോലെ ഒക്കെയും അവന് ചെയ്തു.

3. He did what was right in the eyes of the LORD, but not as his father David had done. In everything he followed the example of his father Joash.

4. എങ്കിലും പൂജാഗിരികള്ക്കു നീക്കംവന്നില്ല; ജനം പൂജാഗിരികളില് യാഗംകഴിച്ചും ധൂപം കാട്ടിയും പോന്നു.

4. The high places, however, were not removed; the people continued to offer sacrifices and burn incense there.

5. രാജത്വം അവന്നു സ്ഥിരമായപ്പോള് തന്റെ അപ്പനായ രാജാവിനെ കൊന്ന ഭൃത്യന്മാരെ അവന് കൊന്നുകളഞ്ഞു.

5. After the kingdom was firmly in his grasp, he executed the officials who had murdered his father the king.

6. എന്നാല് പുത്രന്മാര്ക്കും പകരം പിതാക്കന്മാരും പിതാക്കന്മാര്ക്കും പകരം പുത്രന്മാരും മരണശിക്ഷ അനുഭവിക്കരുതു; താന്താന്റെ പാപത്തിന്നു താന്താന് മരണശിക്ഷ അനുഭവിക്കേണം എന്നു യഹോവ കല്പിച്ചതായി മോശെയുടെ ന്യായപ്രമാണപുസ്തകത്തില് എഴുതിയിരിക്കുന്നതു അനുസരിച്ചു അവന് ആ കുലപാതകന്മാരുടെ മക്കളെ കൊല്ലാതിരുന്നു.

6. Yet he did not put the sons of the assassins to death, in accordance with what is written in the Book of the Law of Moses where the LORD commanded: 'Fathers shall not be put to death for their children, nor children put to death for their fathers; each is to die for his own sins.'

7. അവന് ഉപ്പുതാഴ്വരയില്വെച്ചു എദോമ്യരില് പതിനായിരം പേരെ കൊന്നു, സേലയെ യുദ്ധംചെയ്തു പിടിച്ചു അതിന്നു യൊക്തെയേല് എന്നു പേര് വിളിച്ചു; അതു ഇന്നുവരെയും പറഞ്ഞുവരുന്നു.

7. He was the one who defeated ten thousand Edomites in the Valley of Salt and captured Sela in battle, calling it Joktheel, the name it has to this day.

8. ആ കാലത്തു അമസ്യാവു യേഹൂവിന്റെ മകനായ യെഹോവാഹാസിന്റെ മകന് യെഹോവാശ് എന്ന യിസ്രായേല്രാജാവിന്റെ അടുക്കല് ദൂതന്മാരെ അയച്ചുവരിക, നാം തമ്മില് ഒന്നു നോക്കുക എന്നു പറയിച്ചു.

8. Then Amaziah sent messengers to Jehoash son of Jehoahaz, the son of Jehu, king of Israel, with the challenge: 'Come, meet me face to face.'

9. അതിന്നു യിസ്രായേല്രാജാവായ യെഹോവാശ് യെഹൂദാരാജാവായ അമസ്യാവിന്നു മറുപടി പറഞ്ഞയച്ചതുലെബാനോനിലെ മുള്പ്പടര്പ്പു ലെബാനോനിലെ ദേവദാരുവോടുനിന്റെ മകളെ എന്റെ മകന്നു ഭാര്യയായി തരിക എന്നു ആളയച്ചു പറയിച്ചു; എന്നാല് ലെബാനോനിലെ ഒരു കാട്ടുമൃഗം കടന്നുപോകയില് മുള്പ്പടര്പ്പിനെ ചവിട്ടിക്കളഞ്ഞു.

9. But Jehoash king of Israel replied to Amaziah king of Judah: 'A thistle in Lebanon sent a message to a cedar in Lebanon, 'Give your daughter to my son in marriage.' Then a wild beast in Lebanon came along and trampled the thistle underfoot.

10. എദോമ്യരെ തോല്പിച്ചതുകൊണ്ടു നീ നിഗളിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു; പ്രശംസിച്ചുകൊണ്ടു നിന്റെ വീട്ടില് ഇരുന്നുകൊള്ക; നീയും നിന്നോടുകൂടെ യെഹൂദയും വീഴുവാന് തക്കവണ്ണം അനര്ത്ഥത്തില് ചെന്നു ചാടുന്നതു എന്തിന്നു? എന്നാല് അമസ്യാവു കേട്ടില്ല.

10. You have indeed defeated Edom and now you are arrogant. Glory in your victory, but stay at home! Why ask for trouble and cause your own downfall and that of Judah also?'

11. ആകയാല് യിസ്രായേല് രാജാവായ യെഹോവാശ് പുറപ്പെട്ടുചെന്നു, യെഹൂദെക്കുള്ള ബേത്ത്-ശേമെശില്വെച്ചു അവനും യെഹൂദാരാജാവായ അമസ്യാവും തമ്മില് നേരിട്ടു.

11. Amaziah, however, would not listen, so Jehoash king of Israel attacked. He and Amaziah king of Judah faced each other at Beth Shemesh in Judah.

12. യെഹൂദാ യിസ്രായേലിനോടു തോറ്റു ഔരോരുത്തന് താന്താന്റെ കൂടാരത്തിലേക്കു ഔടിപ്പോയി.

12. Judah was routed by Israel, and every man fled to his home.

13. അഹസ്യാവിന്റെ മകനായ യെഹോവാശിന്റെ മകന് അമസ്യാവു എന്ന യെഹൂദാരാജാവിനെ യിസ്രായേല്രാജാവായ യെഹോവാശ് ബേത്ത്-ശേമെശില്വെച്ചു പിടിച്ചിട്ടു യെരൂശലേമിലേക്കു വന്നു, യെരൂശലേമിന്റെ മതില് എഫ്രയീംപടിവാതില്മുതല് കോണ്പടിവാതില്വരെ നാനൂറു മുഴം ഇടിച്ചുകളഞ്ഞു.

13. Jehoash king of Israel captured Amaziah king of Judah, the son of Joash, the son of Ahaziah, at Beth Shemesh. Then Jehoash went to Jerusalem and broke down the wall of Jerusalem from the Ephraim Gate to the Corner Gate-- a section about six hundred feet long.

14. അവന് യഹോവയുടെ ആലയത്തിലും രാജധാനിയിലെ ഭണ്ഡാരത്തിലും കണ്ട പൊന്നും വെള്ളിയുമൊക്കെയും സകലഉപകരങ്ങളും എടുത്തു ജാമ്യക്കാരെയും പിടിച്ചുകൊണ്ടു ശമര്യ്യയിലേക്കു മടങ്ങിപ്പോയി.

14. He took all the gold and silver and all the articles found in the temple of the LORD and in the treasuries of the royal palace. He also took hostages and returned to Samaria.

15. യെഹോവാശ് ചെയ്ത മറ്റുള്ള വൃത്താന്തങ്ങളും അവന്റെ പരാക്രമപ്രവൃത്തികളും അവന് യെഹൂദാരാജാവായ അമസ്യാവോടു യുദ്ധംചെയ്തതും യിസ്രായേല്രാജാക്കന്മാരുടെ വൃത്താന്തപുസ്തകത്തില് എഴുതിയിരിക്കുന്നുവല്ലോ.

15. As for the other events of the reign of Jehoash, what he did and his achievements, including his war against Amaziah king of Judah, are they not written in the book of the annals of the kings of Israel?

16. പിന്നെ യെഹോവാശ് തന്റെ പിതാക്കന്മാരെപ്പോലെ നിദ്രപ്രാപിച്ചു. അവനെ ശമര്യ്യയില് യിസ്രായേല്രാജാക്കന്മാരുടെ അടുക്കല് അടക്കംചെയ്തു; അവന്റെ മകനായ യൊരോബെയാം അവന്നു പകരം രാജാവായി.

16. Jehoash rested with his fathers and was buried in Samaria with the kings of Israel. And Jeroboam his son succeeded him as king.

17. യിസ്രായേല്രാജാവായ യെഹോവാഹാസിന്റെ മകനായ യെഹോവാശിന്റെ മരണശേഷം യെഹൂദാരാജാവായ യോവാശിന്റെ മകന് അമസ്യാവു പതിനഞ്ചു സംവത്സരം ജീവിച്ചിരുന്നു.

17. Amaziah son of Joash king of Judah lived for fifteen years after the death of Jehoash son of Jehoahaz king of Israel.

18. അമസ്യാവിന്റെ മറ്റുള്ള വൃത്താന്തങ്ങള് യെഹൂദാരാജാക്കന്മാരുടെ വൃത്താന്തപുസ്തകത്തില് എഴുതിയിരിക്കുന്നുവല്ലോ.

18. As for the other events of Amaziah's reign, are they not written in the book of the annals of the kings of Judah?

19. യെരൂശലേമില് അവന്നു വിരോധമായി ഒരു കൂട്ടുകെട്ടുണ്ടായിട്ടു അവന് ലാഖീശിലേക്കു ഔടിപ്പോയി; എന്നാല് അവര് അവന്റെ പിന്നാലെ ലാഖീശിലേക്കു ആളയച്ചു അവിടെവെച്ചു അവനെ കൊന്നുകളഞ്ഞു.

19. They conspired against him in Jerusalem, and he fled to Lachish, but they sent men after him to Lachish and killed him there.

20. അവനെ കുതിരപ്പുറത്തുവെച്ചു കൊണ്ടുവന്നു യെരൂശലേമില് ദാവീദിന്റെ നഗരത്തില് തന്റെ പിതാക്കന്മാരുടെ അടുക്കല് അടക്കം ചെയ്തു.

20. He was brought back by horse and was buried in Jerusalem with his fathers, in the City of David.

21. യെഹൂദാജനമൊക്കെയും പതിനാറു വയസ്സു പ്രായമുള്ള അസര്യ്യാവെ കൊണ്ടുവന്നു അവന്റെ അപ്പനായ അമസ്യാവിന്നു പകരം രാജാവാക്കി.

21. Then all the people of Judah took Azariah, who was sixteen years old, and made him king in place of his father Amaziah.

22. രാജാവു തന്റെ പിതാക്കന്മാരെപ്പോലെ നിദ്രപ്രാപിച്ചശേഷം ഏലത്ത് പണിതതും അതിനെ യെഹൂദെക്കു വീണ്ടുകൊണ്ടതും ഇവന് തന്നേ.

22. He was the one who rebuilt Elath and restored it to Judah after Amaziah rested with his fathers.

23. യെഹൂദാരാജാവായ യോവാശിന്റെ മകന് അമസ്യാവിന്റെ പതിനഞ്ചാം ആണ്ടില് യിസ്രായേല്രാജാവായ യോവാശിന്റെ മകന് യൊരോബെയാം രാജാവായി ശമര്യ്യയില് നാല്പത്തൊന്നു സംവത്സരം വാണു.

23. In the fifteenth year of Amaziah son of Joash king of Judah, Jeroboam son of Jehoash king of Israel became king in Samaria, and he reigned forty-one years.

24. അവന് യഹോവേക്കു അനിഷ്ടമായുള്ളതു ചെയ്തു, യിസ്രായേലിനെക്കൊണ്ടു പാപം ചെയ്യിച്ച നെബാത്തിന്റെ മകനായ യൊരോബെയാമിന്റെ പാപങ്ങളൊന്നും വിട്ടുമാറിയില്ല.

24. He did evil in the eyes of the LORD and did not turn away from any of the sins of Jeroboam son of Nebat, which he had caused Israel to commit.

25. ഗത്ത്-ഹേഫര്കാരനായ അമിത്ഥായിയുടെ മകനായ യോനാപ്രവാചകന് എന്ന തന്റെ ദാസന് മുഖാന്തരം യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ അരുളിച്ചെയ്ത വചനപ്രകാരം അവന് ഹമാത്തിന്റെ അതിര്മുതല് അരാബയിലെ കടല്വരെ യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ ദേശത്തെ വീണ്ടും സ്വാധീനമാക്കി.

25. He was the one who restored the boundaries of Israel from Lebo Hamath to the Sea of the Arabah, in accordance with the word of the LORD, the God of Israel, spoken through his servant Jonah son of Amittai, the prophet from Gath Hepher.

26. യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ കഷ്ടത എത്രയും കഠിനം, സ്വതന്ത്രനോ അസ്വതന്ത്രനോ ഇല്ല, യിസ്രായേലിന്നു സഹായം ചെയ്യുന്നവനുമില്ല എന്നു യഹോവ കണ്ടിട്ടു,

26. The LORD had seen how bitterly everyone in Israel, whether slave or free, was suffering; there was no one to help them.

27. യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ പേര് ആകാശത്തിന് കീഴില്നിന്നു മായിച്ചുകളയും എന്നു യഹോവ അരുളിച്ചെയ്യാതെ യോവാശിന്റെ മകനായ യൊരോബെയാംമുഖാന്തരം അവരെ രക്ഷിച്ചു.

27. And since the LORD had not said he would blot out the name of Israel from under heaven, he saved them by the hand of Jeroboam son of Jehoash.

28. യൊരോബെയാമിന്റെ മറ്റുള്ള വൃത്താന്തങ്ങളും അവന് ചെയ്തതൊക്കെയും അവന് യുദ്ധംചെയ്തതും യെഹൂദെക്കു ഉണ്ടായിരുന്ന ദമ്മേശെക്കും ഹമാത്തും യിസ്രായേലിന്നു വീണ്ടുകൊണ്ടതില് അവന് കാണിച്ച പരാക്രമവും യിസ്രായേല്രാജാക്കന്മാരുടെ വൃത്താന്തപുസ്തകത്തില് എഴുതിയിരിക്കുന്നുവല്ലോ.

28. As for the other events of Jeroboam's reign, all he did, and his military achievements, including how he recovered for Israel both Damascus and Hamath, which had belonged to Yaudi, are they not written in the book of the annals of the kings of Israel?

29. യൊരോബെയാം യിസ്രായേല്രാജാക്കന്മാരായ തന്റെ പിതാക്കന്മാരെപ്പോലെ നിദ്രപ്രാപിച്ചു; അവന്റെ മകനായ സെഖര്യ്യാവു അവന്നു പകരം രാജാവായി.

29. Jeroboam rested with his fathers, the kings of Israel. And Zechariah his son succeeded him as king.
