1. യിസ്രയേല്രാജാവായ ഏലയുടെ മകനായ ഹോശേയയുടെ മൂന്നാം ആണ്ടില് യെഹൂദാരാജാവായ ആഹാസിന്റെ മകന് ഹിസ്കീയാവു രാജാവായി.

1. Now it came to pass in the third year of Hoshea son of Elah king of Israel, [that] Hezekiah the son of Ahaz king of Judah began to reign.

2. അവന് വാഴ്ച തുടങ്ങിയപ്പോള് അവന്നു ഇരുപത്തഞ്ചു വയസ്സായിരുന്നു; അവന് യെരൂശലേമില് ഇരുപത്തൊമ്പതു സംവത്സരം വാണു. അവന്റെ അമ്മെക്കു അബി എന്നു പേര്; അവള് സെഖര്യ്യാവിന്റെ മകള് ആയിരുന്നു.

2. Twenty and five years old was he when he began to reign; and he reigned twenty and nine years in Jerusalem. His mother's name also [was] Abi, the daughter of Zachariah.

3. അവന് തന്റെ പിതാവായ ദാവീദ് ചെയ്തതുപോലെ ഒക്കെയും യഹോവേക്കു പ്രസാദമായുള്ളതു ചെയ്തു.

3. And he did [that which was] right in the sight of the LORD, according to all that David his father did.

4. അവന് പൂജാഗിരികളെ നീക്കി വിഗ്രഹസ്തംഭങ്ങളെ തകര്ത്തു അശേരാപ്രതിഷ്ഠയെ വെട്ടിമുറിച്ചു മോശെ ഉണ്ടാക്കിയ താമ്രസര്പ്പത്തെയും ഉടെച്ചുകളഞ്ഞു; ആ കാലംവരെ യിസ്രായേല്മക്കള് അതിന്നു ധൂപം കാട്ടിവന്നു; അതിന്നു നെഹുഷ്ഠാന് എന്നു പേരായിരുന്നു.

4. He removed the high places, and broke the images, and cut down the groves, and broke in pieces the brasen serpent that Moses had made: for till those days the children of Israel burnt incense to it: and he called it Nehushtan.

5. അവന് യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയില് ആശ്രയിച്ചു; അവന്നു മുമ്പും പിമ്പും ഉണ്ടായിരുന്ന സകല യെഹൂദാരാജാക്കന്മാരിലും ആരും അവനോടു തുല്യനായിരുന്നില്ല.

5. He trusted in the LORD God of Israel; so that after him was none like him among all the kings of Judah, nor [any] that were before him.

6. അവന് യഹോവയോടു ചേര്ന്നിരുന്നു അവനെ വിട്ടു പിന്മാറാതെ യഹോവ മോശെയോടു കല്പിച്ച അവന്റെ കല്പനകളെ പ്രമാണിച്ചുനടന്നു.

6. For he clung to the LORD, [and] departed not from following him, but kept his commandments, which the LORD commanded Moses.

7. യഹോവ അവനോടുകൂടെ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു; അവന് ചെന്നേടത്തൊക്കെയും കൃതാര്ത്ഥനായ്വന്നു; അവന് അശ്ശൂര്രാജാവിനോടു മത്സരിച്ചു അവനെ സേവിക്കാതിരുന്നു.

7. And the LORD was with him; [and] he prospered wherever he went forth: and he rebelled against the king of Assyria, and served him not.

8. അവന് ഫെലിസ്ത്യരെ ഗസ്സയോളം തോല്പിച്ചു; കാവല്ക്കാരുടെ ഗോപുരംമുതല് ഉറപ്പുള്ള പട്ടണംവരെയുള്ള അതിന്റെ പ്രദേശത്തെ ശൂന്യമാക്കിക്കളഞ്ഞു.

8. He smote the Philistines, [even] to Gaza, and its borders, from the tower of the watchmen to the fortified city.

9. യിസ്രായേല്രാജാവായ ഏലയുടെ മകന് ഹോശേയയുടെ ഏഴാം ആണ്ടായി ഹിസ്കീയാരാജാവിന്റെ നാലാം ആണ്ടില് അശ്ശൂര്രാജാവായ ശല്മനേസെര് ശമര്യ്യയുടെ നേരെ പുറപ്പെട്ടു വന്നു അതിനെ നിരോധിച്ചു.

9. And it came to pass in the fourth year of king Hezekiah, which [was] the seventh year of Hoshea son of Elah king of Israel, [that] Shalmaneser king of Assyria came up against Samaria, and besieged it.

10. മൂന്നു സംവത്സരം കഴിഞ്ഞശേഷം അവര് അതു പിടിച്ചു; ഹിസ്കീയാവിന്റെ ആറം ആണ്ടില്, യിസ്രായേല്രാജാവായ ഹോശേയയുടെ ഒമ്പതാം ആണ്ടില് തന്നേ, ശമര്യ്യ പിടിക്കപ്പെട്ടു.

10. And at the end of three years they took it: [even] in the sixth year of Hezekiah, that [is] the ninth year of Hoshea king of Israel, Samaria was taken.

11. അശ്ശൂര്രാജാവു യിസ്രായേലിനെ അശ്ശൂരിലേക്കു പിടിച്ചുകൊണ്ടുപോയി ഹലഹിലും ഗോസാന് നദീതീരത്തുള്ള ഹാബോരിലും മേദ്യരുടെ പട്ടണങ്ങളിലും പാര്പ്പിച്ചു.

11. And the king of Assyria carried away Israel to Assyria, and put them in Halah and in Habor [by] the river of Gozan, and in the cities of the Medes:

12. അവര് തങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയുടെ ശബ്ദം കേട്ടനുസരിക്കാതെ അവന്റെ നിയമവും യഹോവയുടെ ദാസനായ മോശെ കല്പിച്ചതൊക്കെയും ലംഘിച്ചുകളകയാല് തന്നേ; അവര് അതു കേള്ക്കയോ അനുസരിക്കയോ ചെയ്തിരുന്നില്ല.

12. Because they obeyed not the voice of the LORD their God, but transgressed his covenant, [and] all that Moses the servant of the LORD commanded, and would not hear [them], nor do [them].

13. യെഹൂദാരാജാവായ ഹിസ്കീയാവിന്റെ പതിന്നാലാം ആണ്ടില് അശ്ശൂര്രാജാവായ സന് ഹേരീബ് യെഹൂദയിലെ ഉറപ്പുള്ള എല്ലാപട്ടണങ്ങളുടെയും നേരെ പുറപ്പെട്ടുവന്നു അവയെ പിടിച്ചു.

13. Now in the fourteenth year of king Hezekiah Sennacherib king of Assyria came up against all the fortified cities of Judah, and took them.

14. അപ്പോള് യെഹൂദാരാജാവായ ഹിസ്കീയാവു ലാഖീശില് അശ്ശൂര്രാജാവിന്റെ അടുക്കല് ആളയച്ചുഞാന് കുറ്റം ചെയ്തു; എന്നെ വിട്ടു മടങ്ങിപ്പോകേണം; നീ എനിക്കു കല്പിക്കുന്ന പിഴ ഞാന് അടെച്ചു കൊള്ളാം എന്നു പറയിച്ചു. അശ്ശൂര്രാജാവു യെഹൂദാരാജാവായ ഹിസ്കീയാവിന്നു മുന്നൂറു താലന്തു വെള്ളിയും മുപ്പതു താലന്ത് പൊന്നും പിഴ കല്പിച്ചു.

14. And Hezekiah king of Judah sent to the king of Assyria to Lachish, saying, I have offended; withdraw from me: that which thou puttest on me I will bear. And the king of Assyria appointed to Hezekiah king of Judah three hundred talents of silver and thirty talents of gold.

15. ഹിസ്കീയാവു യഹോവയുടെ ആലയത്തിലും രാജധാനിയിലെ ഭണ്ഡാരത്തിലും കണ്ട വെള്ളിയൊക്കെയും കൊടുത്തു.

15. And Hezekiah gave [him] all the silver that was found in the house of the LORD, and in the treasuries of the king's house.

16. ആ കാലത്തു യെഹൂദാരാജാവായ ഹിസ്കീയാവു യഹോവയുടെ മന്ദിരത്തിന്റെ വാതിലുകളിലും കട്ടളകളിലും താന് പൊതിഞ്ഞിരുന്ന പൊന്നും പറിച്ചെടുത്തു അശ്ശൂര്രാജാവിന്നു കൊടുത്തയച്ചു.

16. At that time did Hezekiah cut off [the gold from] the doors of the temple of the LORD, and [from] the pillars which Hezekiah king of Judah had overlaid, and gave it to the king of Assyria.

17. എങ്കിലും അശ്ശൂര് രാജാവു തര്ത്ഥാനെയും റബ്-സാരീസിനെയും റബ്-ശാക്കേയെയും ലാഖീശില്നിന്നു ഹിസ്കീയാരാജാവിന്റെ അടുക്കല് ഒരു വലിയ സൈന്യവുമായി യെരൂശലേമിന്റെ നേരെ അയച്ചു; അവര് പുറപ്പെട്ടു യെരൂശലേമില് വന്നു. അവിടെ എത്തിയപ്പോള് അവര് അലക്കുകാരന്റെ വയലിലെ പെരുവഴിക്കലുള്ള മേലത്തെ കുളത്തിന്റെ കല്പാത്തിക്കരികെ ചെന്നുനിന്നു.

17. And the king of Assyria sent Tartan and Rabsaris and Rabshakeh from Lachish to king Hezekiah with a great army against Jerusalem. And they went up and came to Jerusalem. And when they had come up, they came and stood by the conduit of the upper pool, which [is] in the highway of the fuller's field.

18. അവര് രാജാവിനെ വിളിച്ചപ്പോള് ഹില്ക്കീയാവിന്റെ മകന് എല്യാക്കീം എന്ന രാജധാനിവിചാരകനും രായസക്കാരനായ ശെബ്നയും ആസാഫിന്റെ മകന് യോവാഹ് എന്ന മന്ത്രിയും അവരുടെ അടുക്കല് പുറത്തു ചെന്നു.

18. And when they had called to the king, there came out to them Eliakim the son of Hilkiah, who [was] over the household, and Shebna the scribe, and Joah the son of Asaph the recorder.

19. റബ്-ശാക്കേ അവരോടു പറഞ്ഞതെന്തെന്നാല്നിങ്ങള് ഫിസ്കീയാവോടു പറയേണ്ടതുമഹാരാജാവായ അശ്ശൂര്രാജാവു ഇപ്രകാരം കല്പിക്കുന്നുനീ ആശ്രിയിച്ചിരിക്കുന്ന ഈ ആശ്രയം എന്തു?

19. And Rabshakeh said to them, Speak ye now to Hezekiah, Thus saith the great king, the king of Assyria, What confidence [is] this in which thou trustest?

20. യുദ്ധത്തിന്നു വേണ്ടുന്ന ആലോചനയും ബലവും ഉണ്ടെന്നു നീ പറയുന്നതു വെറും വാക്കത്രേ. ആരെ ആശ്രയിച്ചിട്ടാകുന്നു നീ എന്നോടു മത്സരിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നതു?

20. Thou sayest, (but [they are but] vain words,) [I have] counsel and strength for the war. Now in whom dost thou trust, that thou rebellest against me?

21. ചതെഞ്ഞ ഔടക്കോലായ ഈ മിസ്രയീമിലല്ലോ നീ ആശ്രയിക്കുന്നതു; അതിന്മേല് ഒരുത്തന് ഊന്നിയാല് അതു അവന്റെ ഉള്ളംകയ്യില് തറെച്ചുകൊള്ളും; മിസ്രയീംരാജാവായ ഫറവോന് തന്നില് ആശ്രയിക്കുന്ന ഏവര്ക്കും അങ്ങനെ തന്നേയാകുന്നു.

21. Now, behold, thou trustest upon the staff of this bruised reed, [even] upon Egypt, on which if a man leaneth, it will go into his hand, and pierce it: so [is] Pharaoh king of Egypt to all that trust on him.

22. അല്ല, നിങ്ങള് എന്നോടുഞങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയില് ഞങ്ങള് ആശ്രയിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറയുന്നു എങ്കില്, അവന്റെ പൂജാഗിരികളും യാഗപീഠങ്ങളും ഹിസ്കീയാവു നീക്കിക്കളഞ്ഞിട്ടല്ലോ യെഹൂദായോടും യെരൂശലേമ്യരോടും യെരൂശലേമിലുള്ള ഈ യാഗപീഠത്തിന്റെ മുമ്പില് നമസ്കരിപ്പിന് എന്നു കല്പിച്ചതു.

22. But if ye say to me, We trust in the LORD our God: [is] not that he, whose high places and whose altars Hezekiah hath taken away, and hath said to Judah and Jerusalem, Ye shall worship before this altar in Jerusalem?

23. ആകട്ടെ എന്റെ യജമാനനായ അശ്ശൂര്രാജാവുമായി വാതുകെട്ടുക; നിനക്കു കുതിരച്ചേവകരെ കയറ്റുവാന് കഴിയുമെങ്കില് ഞാന് നിനക്കു രണ്ടായിരം കുതിരയെ തരാം.

23. Now therefore, I pray thee, give pledges to my lord the king of Assyria, and I will deliver thee two thousand horses, if thou shalt be able on thy part to set riders upon them.

24. നീ പിന്നെ എങ്ങനെ എന്റെ യജമാനന്റെ എളിയ ദാസന്മാരില് ഒരു പട നായകനെയെങ്കിലും മടക്കും? രഥങ്ങള്ക്കായിട്ടും കുതിരച്ചേവകര്ക്കായിട്ടും നീ മിസ്രയീമില് ആശ്രയിക്കുന്നുവല്ലോ.

24. How then wilt thou turn away the face of one captain of the least of my master's servants, and put thy trust on Egypt for chariots and for horsemen?

25. ഞാന് ഇപ്പോള് ഈ സ്ഥലം നശിപ്പിപ്പാന് യഹോവയെ കൂടാതെയോ അതിന്റെ നേരെ പുറപ്പെട്ടുവന്നിരിക്കുന്നതു? യഹോവ എന്നോടുഈ ദേശത്തിന്റെ നേരെ പുറപ്പെട്ടുചെന്നു അതിനെ നശിപ്പിക്ക എന്നു കല്പിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.

25. Have I now come up without the LORD against this place to destroy it? The LORD said to me, Go up against this land, and destroy it.

26. അപ്പോള് ഹില്ക്കീയാവിന്റെ മകനായ എല്യാക്കീമും ശെബ്നയും യോവാഹും റബ്-ശാക്കേയോടുഅടിയങ്ങളോടു അരാംഭാഷയില് സംസാരിക്കേണമേ; അതു ഞങ്ങള്ക്കു അറിയാം; മതിലിന്മേലുള്ള ജനം കേള്ക്കെ ഞങ്ങളോടു യെഹൂദാഭാഷയില് സംസാരിക്കരുതേ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

26. Then said Eliakim the son of Hilkiah, and Shebna, and Joah, to Rabshakeh, Speak, I pray thee, to thy servants in the Syrian language; for we understand [it]: and talk not with us in the Jews' language in the ears of the people that [are] on the wall.

27. റബ്-ശാക്കേ അവരോടുനിന്റെ യജമാനനോടും നിന്നോടും ഈ വാക്കു പറവാനോ എന്റെ യജമാനന് എന്നെ അയച്ചിരിക്കുന്നതു? നിങ്ങളോടുകൂടെ സ്വന്ത മലം തിന്നുകയും സ്വന്തമൂത്രം കുടിക്കയും ചെയ്വാന് മതിലിന്മേല് ഇരിക്കുന്ന പുരുഷന്മാരുടെ അടുക്കല് അല്ലയോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

27. But Rabshakeh said to them, Hath my master sent me to thy master, and to thee, to speak these words? [hath he] not [sent me] to the men who sit on the wall, that they may eat their own dung, and drink their own urine with you?

28. അങ്ങനെ റബ്-ശാക്കേ നിന്നുകൊണ്ടു യെഹൂദാഭാഷയില് ഉറക്കെ വിളിച്ചുപറഞ്ഞതു എന്തെന്നാല്മഹാരാജാവായ അശ്ശൂര്രാജാവിന്റെ വാക്കു കേള്പ്പിന് .

28. Then Rabshakeh stood and cried with a loud voice in the Jews' language, and spoke, saying, Hear the word of the great king, the king of Assyria:

29. രാജാവു ഇപ്രകാരം കല്പിക്കുന്നുഹിസ്കീയാവു നിങ്ങളെ ചതിക്കരുതു; നിങ്ങളെ എന്റെ കയ്യില് നിന്നു വിടുവിപ്പാന് അവന്നു കഴികയില്ല.

29. Thus saith the king, Let not Hezekiah deceive you: for he shall not be able to deliver you out of his hand:

30. യഹോവ നമ്മെ നിശ്ചയമായി വിടുവിക്കും; ഈ നഗരം അശ്ശൂര്രാജാവിന്റെ കയ്യില് ഏല്പിക്കയില്ല എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു ഹിസ്കീയാവു നിങ്ങളെ യഹോവയില് ആശ്രയിക്കുമാറാക്കുകയും അരുതു.

30. Neither let Hezekiah make you trust in the LORD, saying, The LORD will surely deliver us, and this city shall not be delivered into the hand of the king of Assyria.

31. ഹിസ്കീയാവിന്നു നിങ്ങള് ചെവികൊടുക്കരുതു; അശ്ശൂര്രാജാവു ഇപ്രകാരം കല്പിക്കുന്നുനിങ്ങള് എന്നോടു സന്ധി ചെയ്തു എന്റെ അടുക്കല് പുറത്തുവരുവിന് ; നിങ്ങള് ഔരോരുത്തന് താന്താന്റെ മുന്തിരിവള്ളിയുടെയും അത്തിവൃക്ഷത്തിന്റെയും ഫലം തിന്നുകയും താന്താന്റെ കിണറ്റിലെ വെള്ളം കുടിക്കയും ചെയ്തുകൊള്വിന് .

31. Hearken not to Hezekiah: for thus saith the king of Assyria, Make [an agreement] with me by a present, and come out to me, and [then] eat ye every man of his own vine, and every one of his fig tree, and drink ye every one the waters of his cistern:

32. പിന്നെ ഞാന് വന്നു നിങ്ങളുടെ ദേശത്തിന്നു തുല്യമായി ധാന്യവും വിഞ്ഞും അപ്പവും മുന്തിരിത്തോട്ടങ്ങളും ഒലിവെണ്ണയും തേനും ഉള്ള ഒരു ദേശത്തേക്കു നിങ്ങളെ കൊണ്ടുപോകും; എന്നാല് നിങ്ങള് മരിക്കാതെ ജീവിച്ചിരിക്കും; യഹോവ നമ്മെ വിടുവിക്കും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു നിങ്ങളെ ചതിക്കുന്ന ഹിസ്കീയാവിന്നു ചെവികൊടുക്കരുതു.

32. Until I come and take you away to a land like your own land, a land of grain and wine, a land of bread and vineyards, a land of olive oil and of honey, that ye may live, and not die: and hearken not to Hezekiah, when he persuadeth you, saying, The LORD will deliver us.

33. ജാതികളുടെ ദേവന്മാര് ആരെങ്കിലും തന്റെ ദേശത്തെ അശ്ശൂര്രാജാവിന്റെ കയ്യില്നിന്നു വിടുവിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ടോ?

33. Hath any of the gods of the nations delivered at all his land out of the hand of the king of Assyria?

34. ഹമാത്തിലെയും അര്പ്പാദിലെയും ദേവന്മാര് എവിടെ? സെഫര്വ്വയീമിലെയും ഹേനയിലെയും ഇവ്വയിലേയും ദേവന്മാര് എവിടെ? ശമര്യ്യയെ അവര് എന്റെ കയ്യില്നിന്നു വിടുവിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ടോ?

34. Where [are] the gods of Hamath, and of Arpad? where [are] the gods of Sepharvaim, Hena, and Ivah? have they delivered Samaria out of my hand?

35. യഹോവ യെരൂശലേമിനെ എന്റെ കയ്യില്നിന്നു വിടുവിപ്പാന് ആ ദേശങ്ങളിലെ സകലദേവന്മാരിലും വെച്ചു ഒരുത്തന് തന്റെ ദേശത്തെ എന്റെ കയ്യില് നിന്നു വിടുവിച്ചുവോ?

35. Who [are] they among all the gods of the countries, that have delivered their country out of my hand, that the LORD should deliver Jerusalem out of my hand?

36. എന്നാല് ജനം മിണ്ടാതിരുന്നു അവനോടു ഒന്നും ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞില്ല; അവനോടു ഉത്തരം പറയരുതെന്നു കല്പന ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു.

36. But the people held their peace, and answered him not a word: for the king's commandment was, saying, Answer him not.

37. ഹില്ക്കീയാവിന്റെ മകനായ എല്യാക്കീം എന്ന രാജധാനിവിചാരകനും രായസക്കാരനായ ശെബ്നയും ആസാഫിന്റെ മകനായ യോവാഹ് എന്ന മന്ത്രിയും വസ്ത്രം കീറി ഹിസ്കീയാവിന്റെ അടുക്കല് വന്നു റബ്-ശാക്കേയുടെ വാക്കു അവനോടു അറിയിച്ചു.

37. Then came Eliakim the son of Hilkiah, who [was] over the household, and Shebna the scribe, and Joah the son of Asaph the recorder, to Hezekiah with [their] clothes torn, and told him the words of Rabshakeh.
