1. അപ്പോള് എലീശായഹോവയുടെ അരുളപ്പാടു കേള്പ്പിന് നാളെ ഈ നേരത്തു ശമര്യ്യയുടെ പടിവാതില്ക്കല് ശേക്കെലിന്നു ഒരു സെയാ കോതമ്പുമാവും ശേക്കലിന്നു രണ്ടു സെയാ യവവും വിലക്കും എന്നു യഹോവ അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

1. Elisha answered, 'Listen to the word of ADONAI. Here is what ADONAI says: 'Tomorrow, by this time, six quarts of fine flour will sell for only a [shekel], and half a bushel of barley for a [shekel] [[in the market]] at the gate to Shomron.'

2. രാജാവിന്നു കൈത്താങ്ങല് കൊടുക്കുന്ന അകമ്പടിനായകന് ദൈവപുരുഷനോടുയഹോവ ആകാശത്തില് കിളിവാതിലുകള് ഉണ്ടാക്കിയാലും ഈ കാര്യം സാധിക്കുമോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അതിന്നു അവന് നിന്റെ കണ്ണുകൊണ്ടു നീ അതു കാണും; എങ്കിലും നീ അതില് നിന്നു തിന്നുകയില്ല എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

2. The servant on whose arm the king was leaning answered the man of God: 'Why, this couldn't happen even if ADONAI made windows in heaven!' Elisha answered, 'All right, you yourself will see it with your own eyes; but you won't eat any of it!'

3. അന്നു കുഷ്ഠരോഗികളായ നാലാള് പടിവാതില്ക്കല് ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു; അവര് തമ്മില് തമ്മില്നാം ഇവിടെ കിടന്നു മരിക്കുന്നതു എന്തിന്നു?

3. Now there were four men with [tzara'at] at the entrance to the city gate, and they said to each other, 'Why should we sit here till we die?

4. പട്ടണത്തില് ചെല്ലുക എന്നുവന്നാല് പട്ടണത്തില് ക്ഷാമമായിക്കകൊണ്ടു നാം അവിടെവെച്ചു മരിക്കും; ഇവിടെ പാര്ത്താലും മരിക്കും. അതുകൊണ്ടു വരിക നമുക്കു അരാമ്യപാളയത്തില് പോകാം; അവര് നമ്മെ ജീവനോടെ വെച്ചാല് നാം ജീവിച്ചിരിക്കും; അവര് നമ്മെ കൊന്നാല് നാം മരിക്കയേയുള്ളു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

4. If we say, 'We'll enter the city, then the city has been struck by the famine, so we'll die there. And if we sit still here, we'll also die. So let's go and surrender to the army of Aram; if they spare our lives, we will live; and if they kill us, we'll only die.'

5. അങ്ങനെ അവര് അരാംപാളയത്തില് പോകുവാന് സന്ധ്യാസമയത്തു പുറപ്പെട്ടു അരാംപാളയത്തിന്റെ അറ്റത്തു വന്നപ്പോള് അവിടെ ആരെയും കാണ്മാനില്ല.

5. They got up during the twilight to go to the camp of Aram. But when they reached the outskirts of the camp of Aram, they saw no one!

6. കര്ത്താവു അരാമ്യസൈന്യത്തെ രഥങ്ങളുടെയും കുതിരകളുടെയും മഹാസൈന്യത്തിന്റെയും ആരവം കേള്പ്പിച്ചിരുന്നതുകൊണ്ടു അവര് തമ്മില് തമ്മില്ഇതാ, നമ്മുടെ നേരെ വരേണ്ടതിന്നു യിസ്രായേല്രാജാവു ഹിത്യരാജാക്കന്മാരെയും മിസ്രയീംരാജാക്കന്മാരെയും നമുക്കു വിരോധമായി കൂലിക്കു വാങ്ങിയിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

6. For ADONAI had caused the army of Aram to hear the sound of chariots and horses; it sounded like a huge army; and they said to each other, 'The king of Isra'el must have hired the kings of the Hitti and the kings of the Egyptians to attack us.'

7. അതുകൊണ്ടു അവര് സന്ധ്യാസമയത്തുതന്നേ എഴുന്നേറ്റു ഔടിപ്പോയി; കൂടാരങ്ങള്, കുതിരകള്, കഴുതകള് എന്നിവയെ പാളയത്തില് ഇരുന്നപാടെ ഉപേക്ഷിച്ചു ജീവരക്ഷെക്കായി ഔടിപ്പോയി.

7. So they jumped up and fled in the twilight, leaving their tents, horses, donkeys and the whole camp just as it was, and ran for their lives.

8. ആ കുഷ്ഠരോഗികള് പാളയത്തിന്റെ അറ്റത്തു എത്തി ഒരു കൂടാരത്തിന്നകത്തു കയറി തിന്നുകുടിച്ചശേഷം അവിടെ നിന്നു വെള്ളിയും പൊന്നും വസ്ത്രങ്ങളും എടുത്തുകൊണ്ടുപോയി ഒളിച്ചുവെച്ചു; മടങ്ങിവന്നു മറ്റൊരു കൂടാരത്തിന്നകത്തു കയറി അതില്നിന്നും എടുത്തു കൊണ്ടുപോയി ഒളിച്ചു വെച്ചു.

8. When these men with [tzara'at] reached the outskirts of the camp, they entered one of the tents, ate and drank; then took some silver, gold and clothing; and went and hid it. Next they returned and entered another tent, took stuff from there, and went and hid it.

9. പിന്നെ അവര് തമ്മില് തമ്മില്നാം ചെയ്യുന്നതു ശരിയല്ല; ഇന്നു സദ്വര്ത്തമാനദിവസമല്ലോ; നാമോ മിണ്ടാതിരിക്കുന്നു; നേരം പുലരുംവരെ നാം താമസിച്ചാല് നമുക്കു കുറ്റം വരും; ആകയാല് വരുവിന് ; നാം ചെന്നു രാജധാനിയില് അറിവുകൊടുക്ക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

9. But finally they said to each other, 'What we are doing is wrong. At a time of good news like this, we shouldn't keep it to ourselves. If we wait even till morning, we will earn only punishment; so come on, let's go and tell the king's household.'

10. അങ്ങനെ അവര് പട്ടണവാതില്ക്കല് ചെന്നു കാവല്ക്കാരനെ വിളിച്ചുഞങ്ങള് അരാംപാളയത്തില് പോയിരുന്നു; അവിടെ ഒരു മനുഷ്യനും ഇല്ല; ഒരു മനുഷ്യന്റെയും ശബ്ദം കേള്പ്പാനുമില്ല കുതിരകളും കഴുതകളും കെട്ടിയിരിക്കുന്നപാടെ നിലക്കുന്നു; കൂടാരങ്ങളും അപ്പാടെ തന്നേ ഇരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

10. So they came and shouted to the gatekeepers of the city and told them the news: 'We went to the camp of Aram, and no one was there, no human voice- just the horses and donkeys tied up, and the tents left in place.'

11. അവന് കാവല്ക്കാരെ വിളിച്ചു; അവര് അകത്തു രാജധാനിയില് അറിവുകൊടുത്തു.

11. The gatekeepers called and told it to the king's household inside.

12. രാജാവു രാത്രിയില് തന്നേ എഴുന്നേറ്റു ഭൃത്യന്മാരോടുഅരാമ്യര് നമ്മോടു ഇച്ചെയ്തതു എന്തെന്നു ഞാന് പറഞ്ഞുതരാം; നാം വിശന്നിരിക്കയാകുന്നു എന്നു അവര് അറിഞ്ഞിട്ടുഅവര് പട്ടണത്തില് നിന്നു പുറത്തുവരും; അപ്പോള് നമുക്കു അവരെ ജീവനോടെ പിടിക്കയും പട്ടണത്തില് കടക്കയും ചെയ്യാം എന്നുറെച്ചു അവര് പാളയം വിട്ടുപോയി വയലില് ഒളിച്ചിരിക്കയാകുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

12. Then the king got up in the night; he said to his servants, 'I'll tell you what Aram has done to us. They know that we're hungry, so they've gone outside the camp and hidden in the countryside, saying, 'When they come out of the city, we'll take them alive and then get inside the city.''

13. അതിന്നു അവന്റെ ഭൃത്യന്മാരില് ഒരുത്തന് പട്ടണത്തില് ശേഷിപ്പുള്ള കുതിരകളില് അഞ്ചിനെ കൊണ്ടുവരട്ടെ; നാം ആളയച്ചു നോക്കിക്കേണം; അവര് ഇവിടെ ശേഷിച്ചിരിക്കുന്ന യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ സകലപുരുഷാരവും നശിച്ചുപോയിരിക്കുന്ന യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ സകലപുരുഷാരവും എന്നപോലെ ഇരിക്കും എന്നു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.

13. One of his servants answered, 'I suggest letting some men take five of the remaining horses that are left in the city- they're like everything else in Isra'el that remains, like everything else in Isra'el, practically finished- and we'll send and see.'

14. അങ്ങനെ അവര് രണ്ടു രഥം കുതിരയെ കെട്ടി കൊണ്ടുവന്നു; രാജാവു അവരെ അരാമ്യസൈന്യത്തിന്റെ പിന്നാലെ അയച്ചുനിങ്ങള് ചെന്നു നോക്കുവിന് എന്നു കല്പിച്ചു.

14. So they took two chariots with horses, and the king sent after the army of Aram, saying, 'Go, and see.'

15. അവര് യോര്ദ്ദാന് വരെ അവരുടെ പിന്നാലെ ചെന്നു; എന്നാല് അരാമ്യര് തത്രപ്പാടില് എറിഞ്ഞുകളഞ്ഞ വസ്ത്രങ്ങളും മറ്റു സാധനങ്ങളും കൊണ്ടു വഴിയൊക്കെയും നിറഞ്ഞിരുന്നു; ദൂതന്മാര് മടങ്ങിവന്നു വിവരം രാജാവിനെ അറിയിച്ചു.

15. They went after them all the way to the Yarden, and found the entire distance strewn with clothing and other articles Aram had thrown away in their haste. The messengers returned and told the king.

16. അങ്ങനെ ജനം പുറപ്പെട്ടു അരാംപാളയം കൊള്ളയിട്ടു. യഹോവയുടെ വചനപ്രകാരം അന്നു ശേക്കെലിന്നു ഒരു സെയാ കോതമ്പുമാവും ശേക്കെലിന്നു രണ്ടു സെയാ യവവും വിറ്റു.

16. Then the people went out and ransacked the camp of Aram- with the result that six quarts of fine flour was sold for only a [shekel] and half a bushel of barley for a [shekel], in keeping with what ADONAI had said.

17. രാജാവു തനിക്കു കൈത്താങ്ങല് കൊടുക്കുന്ന അകമ്പടിനായകനെ വാതില്ക്കല് വിചാരകനായി നിയമിച്ചിരുന്നു; ജനം അവനെ ചവിട്ടിക്കളഞ്ഞു; രാജാവു ദൈവപുരുഷന്റെ അടുക്കല് വന്നപ്പോള് അവന് പറഞ്ഞിരുന്നതുപോലെ അവന് മരിച്ചുപോയി.

17. The king put the servant on whose arm he had leaned in charge of the gate, and the people trampled him down in the gateway, so that he died, as the man of God had said he would, who spoke when the king came to him.

18. നാളെ ഈ നേരത്തു ശമര്യ്യയുടെ പടിവാതില്ക്കല് ശേക്കെലിന്നു രണ്ടു സെയാ യവവും ശേക്കെലിന്നു ഒരു സെയാ കോതമ്പുമാവും വിലക്കുമെന്നു ദൈവപുരുഷന് രാജാവിനോടു പറഞ്ഞപ്പോള് ഈ അകമ്പടിനായകന് ദൈവപുരുഷനോടു

18. For the man of God had said to the king, 'Tomorrow by this time six quarts of barley will sell for only a [shekel] and half a bushel of fine flour for a [shekel] [[in the market]] at the gate of Shomron';

19. യഹോവ ആകാശത്തില് കിളിവാതിലുകള് ഉണ്ടാക്കിയാലും ഈ വാക്കുപോലെ സംഭവിക്കുമോ എന്നുത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു. അതിന്നു അവന് ; നിന്റെ കണ്ണുകൊണ്ടു നീ അതു കാണും; എങ്കിലും നീ അതില്നിന്നു തിന്നുകയില്ല എന്നു പറഞ്ഞിരുന്നു.

19. the servant had answered the man of God, 'Why, this couldn't happen even if ADONAI made windows in heaven!' and Elisha had said, 'All right, you yourself will see it with your own eyes; but you won't eat any of it!'

20. അവ്വണ്ണം തന്നേ അവന്നു ഭവിച്ചു; പടിവാതില്ക്കല്വെച്ചു ജനം അവനെ ചവിട്ടിക്കളഞ്ഞു; അവന് മരിച്ചുപോയി.

20. That is exactly what happened to him, because the people trampled him down in the gateway, so that he died.
