1. അനന്തരം യിസ്രായേലെല്ലാം ഹെബ്രോനില് ദാവീദിന്റെ അടുക്കല് ഒന്നിച്ചുകൂടി പറഞ്ഞതുഞങ്ങള് നിന്റെ അസ്ഥിയും മാംസവും അല്ലോ.

1. And all Israel resorted to Dauid vnto Hebron, and sayde: Beholde, we are yi bone and thy flesh.

2. മുമ്പെ ശൌല് രാജാവായിരുന്ന കാലത്തും നീയായിരുന്നു നായകനായി യിസ്രായേലിനെ നടത്തിയതുനീ എന്റെ ജനമായ യിസ്രായേലിനെ മേയ്ക്കയും എന്റെ ജനമായ യിസ്രായേലിന്നു പ്രഭുവായിരിക്കയും ചെയ്യുമെന്നു നിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ നിന്നോടു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തിട്ടുമുണ്ടു.

2. And afore tyme whan Saul reigned, thou leddest Israel out and in. So the LORDE thy God hath sayde vnto the: Thou shalt kepe my people of Israel, and thou shalt be the prynce ouer my people of Israel.

3. ഇങ്ങനെ യിസ്രായേല്മൂപ്പന്മാരൊക്കെയും ഹെബ്രോനില് രാജാവിന്റെ അടുക്കല് വന്നു; ദാവീദ് ഹെബ്രോനില്വെച്ചു യഹോവയുടെ സന്നിധിയില് അവരോടു ഉടമ്പടി ചെയ്തു; ശമൂവേല്മുഖാന്തരം യഹോവ അരുളിച്ചെയ്തതു പോലെ അവര് ദാവീദിനെ യിസ്രായേലിന്നു രാജാവായിട്ടു അഭിഷേകം ചെയ്തു.

3. And all the Elders of Israel came to the kynge vnto Hebron. And Dauid made a couenaunt with them at Hebron before the LORDE. And they anoynted Dauid to be kynge ouer Israel acordynge to the worde of the LORDE by Samuel.

4. പിന്നെ ദാവീദും എല്ലായിസ്രായേലും യെബൂസ് എന്ന യെരൂശലേമിലേക്കു ചെന്നു. അവിടെ ദേശനിവാസികളായ യെബൂസ്യര് ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു.

4. And Dauid and all Israel wete vnto Ierusalem, that is Iebus: for the Iebusites dwelt in the lode.

5. യെബൂസ് നിവാസികള് ദാവീദിനോടുനീ ഇവിടെ കടക്കയില്ല എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു; എങ്കിലും ദാവീദ് സീയോന് കോട്ട പിടിച്ചു; അതു ആകുന്നു ദാവീദിന്റെ നഗരം.

5. And the citesyns of Iebus saide vnto Dauid: Thou shalt not come in hither. Howbeit Dauid wane ye castell of Sio. which is ye cite of Dauid.

6. എന്നാല് ദാവീദ്ആരെങ്കിലും യെബൂസ്യരെ ആദ്യം തോല്പിച്ചാല് അവന് തലവനും സേനാധിപതിയും ആയിരിക്കും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു; അങ്ങനെ സെരൂയയുടെ മകന് യോവാബ് ആദ്യം കയറിച്ചെന്നു തലവനായിത്തീര്ന്നു.

6. And Dauid sayde: who so euer smyteth ye Iebusites first, shalbe a prynce & captayne. The Ioab ye sonne of Zeruia clymmed vp first, & was made captayne.

7. ദാവീദ് ആ കോട്ടയില് പാര്ത്തതു കൊണ്ടു അതിന്നു ദാവീദിന്റെ നഗരം എന്നു പേരായി.

7. So Dauid dwelt in ye castell, therfore was it called ye cite of Dauid.

8. പിന്നെ അവന് നഗരത്തെ മില്ലോ തുടങ്ങി ചുറ്റും പണിതു ഉറപ്പിച്ചു; നഗരത്തിന്റെ ശേഷമുള്ള ഭാഗം യോവാബ് കേടുതീര്ത്തു.

8. And he buylded ye cite roude aboute, fro Millo forth on euery syde. As for ye remnaunt of ye cite, Ioab buylded it, & repayred it.

9. സൈന്യങ്ങളുടെ യഹോവ തന്നോടുകൂടെ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നതിനാല് ദാവീദ് മേലക്കുമേല് പ്രബലനായിത്തീര്ന്നു.

9. And Dauid wete forth & grewe, & the LORDE Zebaoth was wt him.

10. ദാവീദിന്നു ഉണ്ടായിരുന്ന പ്രധാന വീരന്മാര് ആവിതുയിസ്രായേലിനെക്കുറിച്ചുള്ള യഹോവയുടെ വചനപ്രകാരം അവനെ രാജാവാക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു അവര് എല്ലായിസ്രായേലുമായി രാജത്വം സംബന്ധിച്ചു അവന്റെ പക്ഷം മുറുകെ പിടിച്ചു.

10. These are ye chefe amoge ye mightie me of Dauid, which dealt valeauntly wt him in his kyngdome wt all Israel, to make him kynge, acordinge to the worde of ye LORDE ouer Israel.

11. ദാവീദിന്നുണ്ടായിരുന്ന വീരന്മാരുടെ സംഖ്യയാവിതുമുപ്പതുപേരില് പ്രധാനിയായി ഒരു ഹഖമോന്യന്റെ മകനായ യാശോബെയാം; അവന് മുന്നൂറുപേരുടെ നേരെ കുന്തം ഔങ്ങി ഒരേ സമയത്തു അവരെ കൊന്നുകളഞ്ഞു.

11. And this is ye nombre of Dauids mightie men: Iesabeam the sonne of Hachmoni the chefest amoge thirtie. He lifte vp his speare, & smote thre C. at one tyme.

12. അവന്റെ ശേഷം അഹോഹ്യനായ ദോദോവിന്റെ മകന് എലെയാസാര്; അവന് മൂന്നു വീരന്മാരില് ഒരുത്തന് ആയിരുന്നു.

12. After him was Eleasar the sonne of Dodo the Ahohite, and he was amoge the thre mightie.

13. ഫെലിസ്ത്യര് പസ്-ദമ്മീമില് യുദ്ധത്തിന്നു കൂടിയപ്പോള് അവന് അവിടെ ദാവീദിനോടു കൂടെ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു. അവിടെ യവം നിറഞ്ഞ ഒരു വയല് ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു; പടജ്ജനം ഫെലിസ്ത്യരുടെ മുമ്പില്നിന്നു ഔടിപ്പോയി.

13. This man was wt Dauid wha they blasphemed, & the Philistynes gathered the selues there to ye batayll. And eue ther was there a pece of londe full of barly, & the people fled before the Philistynes.

14. എന്നാല് അവര് ആ വയലിന്റെ മദ്ധ്യേ നിന്നു അതിനെ കാത്തു ഫെലിസ്ത്യരെ വെട്ടിക്കളഞ്ഞു; യഹോവ അവര്ക്കും വലിയോരു ജയം നല്കി.

14. And they stode in the myddes of the londe, and rescued it, and smote the Philistynes. And the LORDE gaue a greate health.

15. ഒരിക്കല് ഫെലിസ്ത്യരുടെ സൈന്യം രെഫയീംതാഴ്വരയില് പാളയമിറങ്ങിയിരിക്കുമ്പോള് മുപ്പതു തലവന്മാരില് മൂന്നുപേര് പാറയിങ്കല് അദുല്ലാംഗുഹയില് ദാവീദിന്റെ അടുക്കല് ചെന്നു.

15. And thre of the chefest thirtie wete downe to the rocke vnto Dauid in to the caue of Adullam. But the Philistynes hoost laye in the valley of Rephaim.

16. അന്നു ദാവീദ് ദുര്ഗ്ഗത്തില് ആയിരുന്നു; ഫെലിസ്ത്യര്ക്കും അക്കാലത്തു ബേത്ത്ളേഹെമില് ഒരു കാവല്പ്പട്ടാളം ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു.

16. As for Dauid, he was in the castell. And the Philistynes people were then at Bethleem.

17. ബേത്ത്ളേഹെംപട്ടണവാതില്ക്കലെ കിണറ്റില്നിന്നു വെള്ളം എനിക്കു കുടിപ്പാന് ആര് കൊണ്ടുവന്നു തരും എന്നു ദാവീദ് ആര്ത്തിപൂണ്ടു പറഞ്ഞു.

17. And Dauid was desyrous, and sayde: O that some wolde geue me to drynke of the water out of the well at Bethleem vnder the gate.

18. അപ്പോള് ആ മൂന്നു പേരും ഫെലിസ്ത്യരുടെ പാളയത്തില്കൂടി കടന്നുചെന്നു ബേത്ത്ളേഹെംപട്ടണവാതില്ക്കലെ കിണറ്റില്നിന്നു വെള്ളംകോരി ദാവീദിന്റെ അടുക്കല് കൊണ്ടുവന്നു; ദാവീദോ അതു കുടിപ്പാന് മനസ്സില്ലാതെ യഹോവേക്കു നിവേദിച്ചു ഒഴിച്ചു

18. The brake those thre in to the Philistynes hoost, and drue of the water out of the well at Bethleem vnder the gate, and caried it, and broughte it vnto Dauid. Neuertheles he wolde not drynke it, but poured it vnto the LORDE,

19. ഇതു ചെയ്വാന് എന്റെ ദൈവം എനിക്കു സംഗതി വരുത്തരുതേ; തങ്ങളുടെ പ്രാണനെ ഉപേക്ഷിച്ചു പോയ പുരുഷന്മാരുടെ രക്തം ഞാന് കുടിക്കയോ? അവര് തങ്ങളുടെ പ്രാണനെ ഉപേക്ഷിച്ചല്ലോ അതു കൊണ്ടുവന്നിരിക്കുന്നതു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു; അതുകൊണ്ടു അവന്നു അതു കുടിപ്പാന് മനസ്സായില്ല; ഇതാകുന്നു ഈ മൂന്നു വീരന്മാര് ചെയ്തതു.

19. and sayde: God let this be farre fro me, yt I shulde do it, and drynke the bloude of these men in ye parell of their life: for with the parell of their life haue they broughte it: therfore wolde he not drynke it. This dyd the thre Worthies.

20. യോവാബിന്റെ സഹോദരനായ അബീശായി മൂവരില് തലവനായിരുന്നു; അവന് മുന്നൂറുപേരുടെ നേരെ കുന്തം ഔങ്ങി, അവരെ കൊന്നു; അതുകൊണ്ടു അവന് ആ മൂവരില്വെച്ചു കീര്ത്തിപ്രാപിച്ചു;

20. Abisai the brother of Ioab, he was the chefest amonge thre. And he lifte vp his speare, and smote thre hundreth. And he was famous amonge thre,

21. ഈ മൂവരില് രണ്ടുപേരെക്കാള് അധികം മാനം അവന് പ്രാപിച്ചു അവര്ക്കും നായകനായ്തീര്ന്നു; എന്നാല് അവന് മറ്റെ മൂവരോളം വരികയില്ല.

21. and before the thirde, more honorable then the two, yet came he not vnto the thre.

22. കബ്സേലില് ഒരു പരാക്രമശാലിയുടെ മകനായ യെഹോയാദയുടെ മകനായ ബെനായാവും വീര്യപ്രവൃത്തികള് ചെയ്തു അവന് മോവാബിലെ അരീയേലിന്റെ രണ്ടു പുത്രന്മാരെ സംഹരിച്ചതല്ലാതെ ഹിമകാലത്തു ഒരു ഗുഹയില് ചെന്നു ഒരു സിംഹത്തെയും കൊന്നുകളഞ്ഞു.

22. Benaia the sonne of Ioiada the sonne of Ishail of Cabzeel, was a man of greate actes. He smote two lyons of the Moabites. And he wente downe, and smote a lyon in the myddes of a well in the tyme of snowe.

23. അവന് അഞ്ചുമുഴം പൊക്കമുള്ള ദീര്ഘകായനായോരു മിസ്രയീമ്യനെയും സംഹരിച്ചു; ആ മിസ്രയീമ്യന്റെ കയ്യില് നെയ്ത്തുകാരന്റെ പടപ്പുതടിപോലെ ഒരു കുന്തം ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു; ഇവനോ ഒരു വടിയുംകൊണ്ടു അവന്റെ അടുക്കല് ചെന്നു മിസ്രയീമ്യന്റെ കയ്യില്നിന്നു കുന്തം പിടിച്ചു പറിച്ചു കുന്തംകൊണ്ടു അവനെ കൊന്നുകളഞ്ഞു.

23. He smote a man of Egipte also, which was fyue cubites greate of stature, and had in his hande a speare like a weuers lome. Yet wente he downe to him with a staffe, and toke the speare out of his hande, and slewe him with his awne speare,

24. ഇവ യെഹോയാദയുടെ മകനായ ബെനായാവു ചെയ്തു, മൂന്നു വീരന്മാരില്വെച്ചു കീര്ത്തി പ്രാപിച്ചു.

24. This dyd Benaia the sonne of Ioiada, and was a famous man amonge thre Worthies,

25. അവന് മുപ്പതു പേരിലും മാനമേറിയവനായിരുന്നു; എങ്കിലും മറ്റേ മൂവരോളം വരികയില്ല. ദാവീദ് അവനെ അകമ്പടിനായകനാക്കി.

25. and most awncient amonge thirtie. But vnto the thre came he not. Howbeit Dauid made him of his secrete councell.

26. സൈന്യത്തിലെ വീരന്മാരോ യോവാബിന്റെ സഹോദരനായ അസാഹേല്, ബേത്ത്ളേഹെമ്യനായ ദോദോവിന്റെ മകന് എല്ഹാനാന് ,

26. The valeaunt Worthies are these: Asahel the brother of Ioab, Elhanam his Vncles sonne of Bethleem,

27. ഹരോര്യ്യനായ ശമ്മോത്ത്, പെലോന്യനായ ഹേലെസ്,

27. Samoth the Harodite, Helez the Pelonite,

28. തെക്കോവ്യനായ ഇക്കേശിന്റെ മകന് ഈരാ, അനാഥോത്യനായ അബീയേസേര്,

28. Ira the sonne of Ekes the Thecoite, Abraser the Anathothite,

29. ഹൂശാത്യനായ സിബെഖായി, അഹോഹ്യനായ ഈലായി, നെതോഫാത്യനായ മഹരായി,

29. Sibechai the Husathite, Ilai the Ahohite,

30. നെതോഫാത്യനായ ബാനയുടെ മകന് ഹേലെദ്,

30. Matherai the Netophatite, Heled ye sonne of Baena ye Netophatite,

31. ബെന്യാമീന്യരുടെ ഗിബെയയില് നിന്നുള്ള രീബായിയുടെ മകന് ഈഥായി, പരാഥോന്യനായ ബെനായാവു,

31. Ithai ye sonne of Ribai of Gibeath of the childre of Ben Ianim, Benaia the Pirgathonite,

32. നഹലേഗാശില് നിന്നുള്ള ഹൂരായി, അര്ബ്ബാത്യനായ അബീയേല്,

32. Hura of the broke of Gaas. Abiel the arbathite,

33. ബഹരൂമ്യനായ അസ്മാവെത്ത്, ശയല്ബോന്യനായ എല്യഹ്ബാ,

33. Asmaueth the Baherunite, Eliahba the Saalbonite.

34. ഗീസോന്യനായ ഹശേമിന്റെ പുത്രന്മാര്, ഹരാര്യ്യനായ ശാഗേയുടെ മകന് യോനാഥാന് ,

34. The children of Hasem ye Gisonite, Ionathas the sonne of Sage the Hararite,

35. ഹരാര്യ്യനായ സാഖാരിന്റെ മകന് അഹീയാം, ഊരിന്റെ മകന് എലീഫാല്,

35. Ahiam the sonne of Sachar the Hararite, Eliphal the sonne of Vr,

36. മെഖേരാത്യനായ ഹേഫെര്, പെലോന്യനായ അഹീയാവു, കര്മ്മേല്യനായ ഹെസ്രോ,

36. Hepher the Macherathite, Ahia the Pelonite,

37. എസ്ബായിയുടെ മകന് നയരായി,

37. Hezro of Carmel, Naerai the sonne of A?bai,

38. നാഥാന്റെ സഹോദരന് യോവേല്, ഹഗ്രിയുടെ മകന് മിബ്ഹാര്,

38. Ioel the brother of Nathan, Mibehar the sonne of Hagri,

39. അമ്മോന്യനായ സേലെക്, സെരൂയയുടെ മകനായ യോവാബിന്റെ ആയുധവാഹകനായ ബെരോത്യന് നഹ്രായി,

39. Zeleg the Ammonite, Naherai the Berothithe the wapenbearer of Ioab the sonne of Zeruia,

40. യിത്രീയനായ ഈരാ, യിത്രീയനായ ഗാരേബ്,

40. Ira the Iethrite, Gareb the Iethrite,

41. ഹിത്യനായ ഊരീയാവു, അഹ്ളായിയുടെ മകന് സാബാദ്, രൂബേന്യരുടെ സേനാപതിയും

41. Vrias the Hethite, Sabad the sonne of Ahalai,

42. മുപ്പതുപേര് അകമ്പടിയുള്ളവനുമായി രൂബേന്യനായ ശീസയുടെ മകന് അദീനാ,

42. Adina the sonne of Sisa the Rubenite, a captayne of the Rubenites, and there were thirtie vnder him:

43. മയഖയുടെ മകന് ഹാനാന് , മിത്ന്യനായ യോശാഫാത്ത്,

43. Hanam ye sonne of Maecha, Iosaphat the Mathonite,

44. അസ്തെരാത്യനായ ഉസ്സീയാവു, അരോവേര്യ്യനായ ഹോഥാമിന്റെ പുത്രന്മാരയ ശാമാ,

44. Vsia ye Astharathite, Sama and Iaiel, the sonnes of Hotham the Aroerite,

45. യെയീയേല്, ശിമ്രിയുടെ മകനായ യെദീയയേല് തീസ്യനായി അവന്റെ സഹോദരനായ യോഹാ, മഹവ്യനായ എലീയേല്,

45. Iediael the sonne of Simri, Ioha his brother the Thirzite,

46. എല്നാമിന്റെ പുത്രന്മാരായ യെരീബായി, യോശവ്യാവു, മോവാബ്യന് യിത്തമാ,

46. Eliel the Mahenite, Ieribai and Iosua the sonnes of Elnaan, Iethma the Moabite,

47. എലീയേല്, ഔബേദ്, മെസോബ്യനായ യാസീയേല് എന്നിവര് തന്നേ.

47. Eliel, Obed, Iaesiel of Mizobaia.
