1. ദാവീദ്, സഹസ്രാധിപന്മാരോടും ശതാധിപന്മാരോടും സകലനായകന്മാരോടും ആലോചിച്ചശേഷം

1. And Dauid counselled with the captaines of thousandes and of hundreths, and with all the gouernours.

2. യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ സര്വ്വസഭയോടും പറഞ്ഞതുനിങ്ങള്ക്കു സമ്മതവും നമ്മുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവേക്കു ഹിതവും ആകുന്നു എങ്കില് നാം യിസ്രായേല്ദേശത്തെല്ലാടവുമുള്ള നമ്മുടെ ശേഷം സഹോദരന്മാരും അവരോടുകൂടെ പുല്പുറങ്ങളുള്ള പട്ടണങ്ങളില് പാര്ക്കുംന്ന പുരോഹിതന്മാരും ലേവ്യരും നമ്മുടെ അടുക്കല് വന്നുകൂടേണ്ടതിന്നു എല്ലാടവും ആളയക്കുക.

2. And Dauid said to all the Congregation of Israel, If it seeme good to you, and that it proceedeth of the Lord our God, we will sende to and from vnto our brethren, that are left in all the lande of Israel (for with them are the Priests and the Leuites in the cities and their suburbes) that they may assemble them selues vnto vs.

3. നമ്മുടെ ദൈവത്തിന്റെ പെട്ടകം വീണ്ടും നമ്മുടെ അടുക്കല് കൊണ്ടുവരിക; ശൌലിന്റെ കാലത്തു നാം അതിനെ ഗണ്യമാക്കിയില്ലല്ലോ.

3. And we will bring againe the Arke of our God to vs: for we sought not vnto it in the dayes of Saul.

4. ഈ കാര്യം സകലജനത്തിന്നും ബോധിച്ചതുകൊണ്ടു അങ്ങനെ തന്നേ ചെയ്യേണമെന്നു സര്വ്വസഭയും പറഞ്ഞു.

4. And all the Congregation answered, Let vs doe so: for the thing seemed good in the eyes of all the people.

5. ഇങ്ങനെ ദാവീദ് ദൈവത്തിന്റെ പെട്ടകം കിര്യ്യത്ത്-യെയാരീമില്നിന്നു കൊണ്ടുവരേണ്ടതിന്നു മിസ്രയീമിലെ ശീഹോര് തുടങ്ങി ഹമാത്ത് പ്രദേശംവരെയുള്ള എല്ലായിസ്രായേലിനെയും കൂട്ടി വരുത്തി.

5. So Dauid gathered all Israel together from Shihor in Egypt, euen vnto the entring of Hamath, to bring the Arke of God from Kiriath-iearim.

6. കെരൂബുകളുടെ മദ്ധ്യേ അധിവസിക്കുന്ന യഹോവയായ ദൈവത്തിന്റെ തിരുനാമം വിളിക്കപ്പെടുന്ന പെട്ടകം കൊണ്ടു വരേണ്ടതിന്നു ദാവീദും യിസ്രായേലൊക്കെയും യെഹൂദയോടു ചേര്ന്നു കിര്യ്യത്ത്-യെയാരീമെന്ന ബയലയില് ചെന്നു.

6. And Dauid went vp and all Israel to Baalath, in Kiriath-iearim, that was in Iudah, to bring vp from thence the Arke of God the Lord that dwelleth betweene the Cherubims, where his Name is called on.

7. അവര് ദൈവത്തിന്റെ പെട്ടകം അബീനാദാബിന്റെ വീട്ടില്നിന്നെടുത്തു ഒരു പുതിയ വണ്ടിയില് കയറ്റി; ഉസ്സയും അഹ്യോവും വണ്ടിതെളിച്ചു.

7. And they caryed the Arke of God in a newe cart out of the house of Abinadab: and Vzza and Ahio guided the cart.

8. ദാവീദും എല്ലായിസ്രായേലും ദൈവത്തിന്റെ സന്നിധിയില് പൂര്ണ്ണശക്തിയോടെ പാട്ടുപാടിയും കിന്നരം, വീണ, തപ്പു, കൈത്താളം, കാഹളം എന്നീ വാദ്യങ്ങള് ഘോഷിച്ചുംകൊണ്ടു നൃത്തംചെയ്തു.

8. And Dauid and all Israel played before God with all their might, both with songes and with harpes, and with violes, and with timbrels and with cymbales and with trumpets.

9. അവര് കീദോന് കളത്തിന്നു സമീപം എത്തിയപ്പോള് കാള വിരളുകകൊണ്ടു ഉസ്സാ പെട്ടകം പിടിപ്പാന് കൈ നീട്ടി.

9. And when they came vnto the thresshing floore of Chidon, Vzza put forth his hand to holde the Arke, for the oxen did shake it.

10. അപ്പോള് യഹോവയുടെ കോപം ഉസ്സയുടെ നേരെ ജ്വലിച്ചു; അവന് തന്റെ കൈ പെട്ടകത്തിങ്കലേക്കു നീട്ടിയതുകൊണ്ടു അവനെ ബാധിച്ചു, അവന് അവിടെ ദൈവസന്നിധിയില് മരിച്ചുപോയി.

10. But the wrath of the Lord was kindled against Vzza, and he smote him, because he layed his hande vpon the Arke: so he dyed there before God.

11. യഹോവ ഉസ്സയെ ഛേദിച്ച ഛേദംനിമിത്തം ദാവീദിന്നു വ്യസനമായിഅവന് ആ സ്ഥലത്തിന്നു പേരെസ്-ഉസ്സാ എന്നു പേര് വിളിച്ചു.

11. And Dauid was angrie, because the Lord had made a breach in Vzza, and he called the name of that place Perez-vzza vnto this day.

12. ഇതു ഇന്നുവരെയും പറഞ്ഞുവരുന്നു. അന്നു ദാവീദ് ദൈവത്തെ ഭയപ്പെട്ടുപോയിഞാന് ദൈവത്തിന്റെ പെട്ടകം എങ്ങനെ എന്റെ അടുക്കല് കൊണ്ടുവരേണ്ടു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

12. And Dauid feared God that day, saying, Howe shall I bring in to me the Arke of God?

13. അങ്ങനെ ദാവീദ് പെട്ടകം തന്റെ അടുക്കല് ദാവീദിന്റെ നഗരത്തില് കൊണ്ടുവരാതെ ഗിത്യനായ ഔബേദ്-എദോമിന്റെ വീട്ടിലേക്കു മാറ്റി കൊണ്ടുപോയി.

13. Therefore Dauid brought not the Arke to him into the citie of Dauid, but caused it to turne into the house of Obed Edom the Gittite.

14. ദൈവത്തിന്റെ പെട്ടകം ഔബേദ്-എദോമിന്റെ കുടുംബത്തോടുകൂടെ മൂന്നുമാസം അവന്റെ വീട്ടില് ഇരുന്നു; യഹോവ ഔബേദ്-എദോമിന്റെ കുടുംബത്തെയും അവന്നുള്ള സകലത്തെയും അനുഗ്രഹിച്ചു.

14. So the Arke of God remained in the house of Obed Edom, euen in his house three moneths: and the Lord blessed the house of Obed Edom, and all that he had.
