1. അതിന്റെ ശേഷം മോവാബ്യരും അമ്മോന്യരും അവരോടുകൂടെ മെയൂന്യരില് ചിലരും യെഹോശാഫാത്തിന്റെ നേരെ യുദ്ധത്തിന്നു വന്നു.

1. And it came about after this, [that] the children of Moab and the children of Ammon, and with them [some] of the Mineans, came up against Jehoshaphat to battle.

2. ചിലര് വന്നു യെഹോശാഫാത്തിനോടുവലിയോരു ജനസമൂഹം കടലിന്നക്കരെ നിന്നു, അരാമില്നിന്നു നിന്റെ നേരെ വരുന്നു; ഇതാ അവര് ഏന് -ഗെദിയെന്ന ഹസസോന് -താമാരില് ഉണ്ടു എന്നു അറിയിച്ചു.

2. And they came and told Jehoshaphat, saying, A great multitude is coming against you from Syria, from beyond the sea; and behold, they are in Hazazon Tamar, which is En Gedi.

3. യെഹോശാഫാത്ത് ഭയപ്പെട്ടു യഹോവയെ അന്വേഷിപ്പാന് താല്പര്യപ്പെട്ടു യെഹൂദയില് ഒക്കെയും ഒരു ഉപവാസം പ്രസിദ്ധംചെയ്തു.

3. And Jehoshaphat was alarmed, and set his face to seek the Lord earnestly, and he proclaimed a fast in all Judah.

4. യഹോവയോടു സഹായം ചോദിപ്പാന് യെഹൂദ്യര് ഒന്നിച്ചുകൂടി; സകല യെഹൂദാനഗരങ്ങളിലുംനിന്നു അവര് യഹോവയെ അന്വേഷിപ്പാന് വന്നു.

4. And Judah gathered themselves together to seek after the Lord; even from all the cities of Judah they came to seek the Lord.

5. യെഹോശാഫാത്ത് യഹോവയുടെ ആലയത്തില് പുതിയ പ്രാകാരത്തിന്റെ മുമ്പില് യെഹൂദയുടെയും യെരൂശലേമിന്റെയും സഭാമദ്ധ്യേ നിന്നുകൊണ്ടു പറഞ്ഞതെന്തെന്നാല്

5. And Jehoshaphat stood up in the assembly of Judah in Jerusalem, in the house of the Lord, in front of the new court.

6. ഞങ്ങളുടെ പിതാക്കന്മാരുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവേ, നീ സ്വര്ഗ്ഗസ്ഥനായ ദൈവമല്ലോ; നീ ജാതികളുടെ സകലരാജ്യങ്ങളെയും ഭരിക്കുന്നുവല്ലോ; ആര്ക്കും എതിര്പ്പാന് കഴിയാത്ത ശക്തിയും പരാക്രമവും നിനക്കുണ്ടല്ലോ.

6. And he said, O Lord God of my fathers, are not You God in heaven above, and are not You Lord of all the kingdoms of the nations? And [is there] not in Your hand the might of dominion, and there is no one who can resist You?

7. ഞങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവമേ, നീ നിന്റെ ജനമായ യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ മുമ്പില്നിന്നു ഈ ദേശത്തിലെ നിവാസികളെ നീക്കിക്കളഞ്ഞു അതു നിന്റെ സ്നേഹിതനായ അബ്രാഹാമിന്റെ സന്തതിക്കു ശാശ്വതമായി കൊടുത്തുവല്ലോ.

7. Are not You the Lord that destroyed the inhabitants of this land before the face of Your people Israel, and gave it to Your beloved seed of Abraham forever?

8. അവര് അതില് പാര്ത്തു; ന്യായവിധിയുടെ വാള്, മഹാമാരി, ക്ഷാമം എന്നിങ്ങിനെയുള്ള വല്ല അനര്ത്ഥവും ഞങ്ങള്ക്കു വരുമ്പോള്, ഞങ്ങള് ഈ ആലയത്തിന്റെ മുമ്പിലും നിന്റെ സന്നിധിയിലും നിന്നു--നിന്റെ നാമം ഈ ആലയത്തില് ഉണ്ടല്ലോ--ഞങ്ങളുടെ സങ്കടത്തില് നിന്നോടു നിലവിളിക്കയും നീ കേട്ടു രക്ഷവരുത്തുകയും ചെയ്യും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

8. And they dwelt in it, and built in it a sanctuary to Your name, saying,

9. അതില് തിരുനാമത്തിന്നു വേണ്ടി നിനക്കു ഒരു വിശുദ്ധമന്ദിരം പണിതു.

9. If there should come upon us evils, sword, judgment, pestilence, [or] famine, we will stand before this house, and before You, (for Your name [is] upon this house) and we will cry to You because of the affliction, and You shall hear, and deliver.

10. യിസ്രായേല് മിസ്രയീംദേശത്തുനിന്നു വരുമ്പോള് അവര് അമ്മോന്യരേയും മോവാബ്യരേയും സേയീര് പര്വ്വതക്കാരെയും ആക്രമിപ്പാന് നീ അനുവാദം കൊടുത്തില്ലല്ലോ; അവര് അവരെ നശിപ്പിക്കാതെ വിട്ടുമാറി.

10. And now, behold, the children of Ammon and Moab and Mount Seir, with regard to whom You did not permit Israel to pass through their border, when they had come out of the land of Egypt, (for they turned away from them, and did not destroy them)-

11. ഇപ്പോള് ഇതാ, നീ ഞങ്ങള്ക്കു കൈവശമാക്കിത്തന്ന നിന്റെ അവകാശത്തില്നിന്നു ഞങ്ങളെ നീക്കിക്കളവാന് അവര് വന്നു ഞങ്ങള്ക്കു ഇങ്ങനെ പ്രതിഫലം തരുന്നു.

11. yet now, behold, they make attempts against us, to come forth to cast us out from our inheritance which You have given to us.

12. ഞങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവമേ, നീ അവരെ ന്യായം വിധിക്കയില്ലയോ? ഞങ്ങളുടെ നേരെ വരുന്ന ഈ വലിയ സമൂഹത്തോടെതിര്പ്പാന് ഞങ്ങള്ക്കു ശക്തിയില്ല; എന്തു ചെയ്യേണ്ടു എന്നു അറിയുന്നതുമില്ല; എങ്കിലും ഞങ്ങളുടെ കണ്ണുകള് നിങ്കലേക്കു തിരിഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു.

12. O Lord our God, will You not judge them? For we have no strength to resist this great multitude that has come against us; and we know not what we shall do to them, but our eyes are toward You.

13. അങ്ങനെ യെഹൂദ്യര് ഒക്കെയും അവരുടെ കുഞ്ഞുങ്ങളോടും ഭാര്യമാരോടും മക്കളോടും കൂടെ യഹോവയുടെ സന്നിധിയില് നിന്നു.

13. And all Judah was standing before the Lord, and their children, and their wives.

14. അപ്പോള് സഭാമദ്ധ്യേവെച്ചു യഹോവയുടെ ആത്മാവു ആസാഫിന്റെ പുത്രന്മാരില് മത്ഥന്യാവിന്റെ മകനായ യെയീയേലിന്റെ മകനായ ബെനായാവിന്റെ മകനായ സെഖര്യ്യാവിന്റെ മകന് യഹസീയേല് എന്ന ഒരു ലേവ്യന്റെ മേല് വന്നു.

14. Then the Spirit of the Lord came upon Jahaziel the [son] of Zechariah, of the sons of Benaiah, of the sons of Jeiel, of the sons of Matthaniah the Levite, of the sons of Asaph, in the assembly.

15. അവന് പറഞ്ഞതു എന്തെന്നാല്യെഹൂദ്യര് ഒക്കെയും യെരൂശലേംനിവാസികളും യെഹോശാഫാത്ത് രാജാവും ആയുള്ളോരേ, കേട്ടുകൊള്വിന് ; യഹോവ ഇപ്രകാരം നിങ്ങളോടു അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നുഈ വലിയ സമൂഹം നിമിത്തം ഭയപ്പെടരുതു, ഭ്രമിക്കയും അരുതു; യുദ്ധം നിങ്ങളുടേതല്ല, ദൈവത്തിന്റെതത്രേ.

15. And he said, Hear, all Judah, and you inhabitants of Jerusalem, and King Jehoshaphat; Thus says the Lord to you, even you: Fear not, neither be alarmed, before all this great multitude; for the battle is not yours, but God's.

16. നാളെ അവരുടെ നേരെ ചെല്ലുവിന് ; ഇതാ, അവര് സീസ് കയറ്റത്തില്കൂടി കയറി വരുന്നു; നിങ്ങള് അവരെ യെരൂവേല്മരുഭൂമിക്കെതിരെ തോട്ടിന്റെ അറ്റത്തുവെച്ചു കാണും.

16. Tomorrow go down against them. Behold, they come up by the Ascent of Ziz, and you shall find them at the extremity of the river of the Wilderness of Jeruel.

17. ഈ പടയില് പൊരുതുവാന് നിങ്ങള്ക്കു ആവശ്യം ഇല്ല; യെഹൂദയും യെരൂശലേമും ആയുള്ളോരേ, നിങ്ങള് സ്ഥിരമായി നിന്നു യഹോവ നിങ്ങള്ക്കു വരുത്തുന്ന രക്ഷ കണ്ടുകൊള്വിന് ; ഭയപ്പെടരുതു, ഭ്രമിക്കയും അരുതു; നാളെ അവരുടെ നേരെ ചെല്ലുവിന് ; യഹോവ നിങ്ങളോടുകൂടെ ഉണ്ടു.

17. It is not for you to fight. Understand these things, and see the deliverance of the Lord with you, Judah and Jerusalem: fear not, neither be afraid to go forth tomorrow to meet them; and the Lord shall be with you.

18. അപ്പോള് യെഹോശാഫാത്ത് സാഷ്ടാംഗം വണങ്ങി; യെഹൂദ്യര് ഒക്കെയും യെരൂശലേം നിവാസികളും യഹോവയുടെ മുമ്പാകെ വീണു നമസ്കരിച്ചു.

18. And Jehoshaphat bowed with his face [to the ground] with all Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem, [and] they fell before the Lord, to worship the Lord.

19. കെഹാത്യരും കോരഹ്യരുമായ ലേവ്യര് യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയെ അത്യുച്ചത്തില് സ്തുതിപ്പാന് എഴുന്നേറ്റു.

19. And the Levites of the children of Kohath, and [those] of the sons of Korah, rose up to praise the Lord God of Israel with a loud voice on high.

20. പിന്നെ അവര് അതികാലത്തു എഴുന്നേറ്റു തെക്കോവമരുഭൂമിയിലേക്കു പുറപ്പെട്ടു; അവര് പുറപ്പെട്ടപ്പോള് യഹോശാഫാത്ത് നിന്നുകൊണ്ടുയെഹൂദ്യരും യെരൂശലേംനിവാസികളും ആയുള്ളോരേ, എന്റെ വാക്കു കേള്പിന് ; നിങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയില് വിശ്വസിപ്പിന് ; എന്നാല് നിങ്ങള് ഉറെച്ചുനിലക്കും; അവന്റെ പ്രവാചകന്മാരേയും വിശ്വസിപ്പിന് ; എന്നാല് നിങ്ങള് കൃതാര്്ഥരാകും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

20. And they rose early in the morning and went out to the Wilderness of Tekoa. And as they went out, Jehoshaphat stood and cried, and said, Hear me, O Judah, and you inhabitants of Jerusalem; put your trust in the Lord God, and your trust shall be honored; trust in His prophet, and you shall prosper.

21. പിന്നെ അവന് ജനത്തോടു ആലോചിച്ചിട്ടു, വിശുദ്ധാലങ്കാരം ധരിച്ചു സൈന്യത്തിന്നു മുമ്പില് നടന്നുകൊണ്ടു വാഴ്ത്തുവാനുംയഹോവയെ സ്തുതിപ്പിന് , അവന്റെ ദയ എന്നേക്കും ഉള്ളതല്ലോ എന്നു ചൊല്ലുവാനും യഹോവേക്കു സംഗീതക്കാരെ നിയമിച്ചു.

21. And he took counsel with the people, and set appointed men to sing psalms and praises, to give thanks, and sing the holy songs of praise in going forth before the army. And they said, Give thanks to the Lord, for His mercy [endures] forever.

22. അവര് പാടി സ്തുതിച്ചു തുടങ്ങിയപ്പോള്യഹോവ യെഹൂദെക്കു വിരോധമായി വന്ന അമ്മോന്യരുടെയും മോവാബ്യരുടെയും സേയീര്പര്വ്വതക്കാരുടെയും നേരെ പതിയിരിപ്പുകാരെ വരുത്തി; അങ്ങനെ അവര് തോറ്റുപോയി.

22. And when they began the praise and thanksgiving, the Lord caused the children of Ammon to fight against Moab, and [the inhabitants of] Mount Seir that came out against Judah; and they were defeated.

23. അമ്മോന്യരും മോവാബ്യരും സേയീര്പര്വ്വതനിവാസികളോടു എതിര്ത്തു അവരെ നിര്മ്മൂലമാക്കി നശിപ്പിച്ചു; സേയീര്നിവാസികളെ സംഹരിച്ചശേഷം അവര് അന്യോന്യം നശിപ്പിച്ചു.

23. Then the children of Ammon and Moab rose up against the inhabitants of Mount Seir, to destroy and consume them. And when they had made an end of [destroying] the inhabitants of Seir, they rose up against one another so that they were utterly destroyed.

24. യെഹൂദ്യര് മരുഭൂമിയിലെ കാവല് ഗോപുരത്തിന്നരികെ എത്തിയപ്പോള് അവര് പുരുഷാരത്തെ നോക്കി, അവര് നിലത്തു ശവങ്ങളായി കിടക്കുന്നതു കണ്ടു; ഒരുത്തനും ചാടിപ്പോയിരുന്നില്ല.

24. And Judah came to the watchtower of the wilderness, and looked, and saw the multitude, and behold, [they were] all fallen dead upon the earth; not one escaped.

25. യെഹോശാഫാത്തും അവന്റെ പടജ്ജനവും അവരെ കൊള്ളയിടുവാന് വന്നപ്പോള് അവരുടെ ഇടയില് അനവധി സമ്പത്തും വസ്ത്രവും വിശേഷവസ്തുക്കളും കണ്ടെത്തി; തങ്ങള്ക്കു ചുമപ്പാന് കഴിയുന്നതിലധികം ഊരി എടുത്തു; കൊള്ള അധികമുണ്ടായിരുന്നതുകൊണ്ടു അവര് മൂന്നു ദിവസം കൊള്ളയിട്ടുകൊണ്ടിരുന്നു.

25. And Jehoshaphat and his people went out to plunder them, and they found much cattle, and furniture, and spoils, and precious things. And they plundered them, and they were three days gathering the spoil, for it was abundant.

26. നാലാം ദിവസം അവര് ബെരാഖാതാഴ്വരയില് ഒന്നിച്ചുകൂടി; അവര് അവിടെ യഹോവേക്കു സ്തോത്രം ചെയ്തതുകൊണ്ടു ആ സ്ഥലത്തിന്നു ഇന്നുവരെ ബെരാഖാതാഴ്വര എന്നു പേര് പറഞ്ഞുവരുന്നു.

26. And it came to pass on the fourth day they were gathered to the Valley of Blessing; for there they blessed the Lord. Therefore they called the name of the place the Valley of Blessing, until this day.

27. യഹോവ അവര്ക്കും ശത്രുക്കളുടെമേല് ജയസന്തോഷം നില്കിയതുകൊണ്ടു യെഹൂദ്യരും യെരൂശലേമ്യരും എല്ലാം മുമ്പില് യെഹോശാഫാത്തുമായി സന്തോഷത്തോടെ യെരൂശലേമിലേക്കു മടങ്ങിപ്പോന്നു;

27. And all the men of Judah returned to Jerusalem, and Jehoshaphat led them with great joy; for the Lord gave them joy over their enemies.

28. അവര് വീണകളോടും കിന്നരങ്ങളോടും കാഹളങ്ങളോടുംകൂടെ യെരൂശലേമില് യഹോവയുടെ ആലയത്തിലേക്കു ചെന്നു.

28. And they entered into Jerusalem with lutes and harps and trumpets, [going] into the house of the lord.

29. യഹോവ യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ ശത്രുക്കളോടു യുദ്ധംചെയ്തു എന്നു കേട്ടപ്പോള് ദൈവത്തിന്റെ ഭീതി ആ ദേശങ്ങളിലെ സകലരാജ്യങ്ങളിന്മേലും വന്നു.

29. And the terror of the Lord was upon all the kingdoms of the land, when they heard that the Lord fought against the enemies of Israel.

30. ഇങ്ങനെ അവന്റെ ദൈവം ചുറ്റും വിശ്രമം നല്കിയതുകൊണ്ടു യെഹോശാഫാത്തിന്റെ രാജ്യം സ്വസ്ഥമായിരുന്നു.

30. And the kingdom of Jehoshaphat was at peace; and his God gave him rest round about.

31. യെഹോശാഫാത്ത് യെഹൂദയില് വാണു; വാണുതുടങ്ങിയപ്പോള് അവന്നു മുപ്പത്തഞ്ചുവയസ്സായിരുന്നു; അവന് ഇരുപത്തഞ്ചു സംവത്സരം യെരൂശലേമില് വാണു; അവന്റെ അമ്മെക്കു അസൂബാ എന്നു പേര്; അവള് ശില്ഹിയുടെ മകള് ആയിരുന്നു.

31. And Jehoshaphat reigned over Judah, being thirty-five years [old] when he began to reign, and he reigned twenty-five years in Jerusalem; and his mother's name was Azubah, daughter of Shilhi.

32. അവന് തന്റെ അപ്പനായ ആസയുടെ വഴിയില് നടന്നു അതു വിട്ടുമാറാതെ യഹോവേക്കു പ്രസാദമായുള്ളതു ചെയ്തു.

32. And he walked in the ways of his father Asa, and turned not aside from doing that which was right in the sight of the Lord.

33. എങ്കിലും പൂജാഗിരികള്ക്കു നീക്കം വന്നില്ല; ജനം തങ്ങളുടെ ഹൃദയങ്ങളെ തങ്ങളുടെ പിതാക്കന്മാരുടെ ദൈവത്തിങ്കലേക്കു തിരിച്ചതുമില്ല.

33. Nevertheless the high places still remained; and as yet the people did not direct their heart to the Lord God of their fathers.

34. യെഹോശാഫാത്തിന്റെ മറ്റുള്ള വൃത്താന്തങ്ങള് ആദ്യാവസാനം യിസ്രായേല്രാജാക്കന്മാരുടെ പുസ്തകത്തില് ചേര്ത്തിരിക്കുന്ന ഹനാനിയുടെ മകനായ യെഹൂവിന്റെ വൃത്താന്തത്തില് എഴുതിയിരിക്കുന്നുവല്ലോ.

34. And the rest of the acts of Jehoshaphat, the first and the last, behold, they are written in the history of Jehu [the son] of Hanani, who wrote the book of the kings of Israel.

35. അതിന്റെശേഷം യെഹൂദാരാജാവായ യെഹോശാഫാത്ത് യിസ്രായേല്രാജാവായ അഹസ്യാവോടു സഖ്യത ചെയ്തു. അവന് മഹാദുഷ്പ്രവൃത്തിക്കാരനായിരുന്നു.

35. And afterwards Jehoshaphat king of Judah entered into an alliance with Ahaziah king of Israel, (now this was an unrighteous man)

36. അവന് തര്ശീശിലേക്കു ഔടിപ്പാന് കപ്പലുണ്ടാക്കുന്നതില് അവനോടു യോജിച്ചു; അവര് എസ്യോന് -ഗേബെരില്വെച്ചു കപ്പലുകളുണ്ടാക്കി.

36. by acting [with] and going to him, to build ships to go to Tarshish. And he built ships in Ezion Geber.

37. എന്നാല് മാരേശക്കാരനായ ദോദാവയുടെ മകന് എലീയേസെര് യെഹോശാഫാത്തിന്നു വിരോധമായി പ്രവചിച്ചുനീ അഹസ്യാവോടു സഖ്യത ചെയ്തതുകൊണ്ടു യഹോവ നിന്റെ പണികളെ ഉടെച്ചുകളഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. കപ്പലുകള് തര്ശീശിലേക്കു ഔടുവാന് കഴിയാതെ ഉടഞ്ഞുപോയി.

37. But Eliezer the [son] of Dodavah of Mareshah prophesied against Jehoshaphat, saying, Because you have allied yourself with Ahaziah, the Lord has broken your work, and your vessels have been wrecked. And they could not go to Tarshish.
