1. അങ്ങനെ യിസ്രായേല്മക്കള് തങ്ങളുടെ പട്ടണങ്ങളില് പാര്ത്തിരിക്കുമ്പോള് ഏഴാം മാസത്തില് സകലജനവും നീര്വ്വാതിലിന്റെ മുമ്പിലുള്ള വിശാലസ്ഥലത്തു ഒരുമനപ്പെട്ടു വന്നുകൂടി, യഹോവ യിസ്രായേലിന്നു കല്പിച്ചു കൊടുത്ത മോശെയുടെ ന്യായപ്രമാണപുസ്തകം കൊണ്ടുവരുവാന് എസ്രാശാസ്ത്രിയോടു പറഞ്ഞു.

1. On the first day of the seventh month, the people came together in the open area in front of the Water Gate. Then they asked Ezra, who was a teacher of the Law of Moses, to read to them from this Law that the LORD had given his people. Ezra the priest came with the Law and stood before the crowd of men, women, and the children who were old enough to understand.

2. ഏഴാം മാസം ഒന്നാം തിയ്യതി എസ്രാ പുരോഹിതന് പുരുഷന്മാരും സ്ത്രീകളും കേട്ടു ഗ്രഹിപ്പാന് പ്രാപ്തിയുള്ള എല്ലാവരുമായ സഭയുടെ മുമ്പാകെ ന്യായപ്രമാണം കൊണ്ടുവന്നു,

3. നീര്വ്വാതിലിന്നെതിരെയുള്ള വിശാലസ്ഥലത്തുവെച്ചു രാവിലെതുടങ്ങി ഉച്ചവരെ പുരുഷന്മാരും സ്ത്രീകളും ഗ്രഹിപ്പാന് പ്രാപ്തിയുള്ള എല്ലാവരും കേള്ക്കെ ന്യായപ്രമാണ പുസ്തകം വായിച്ചു; സര്വ്വജനവും ശ്രദ്ധിച്ചു കേട്ടു.

3. From early morning till noon, he read the Law of Moses to them, and they listened carefully.

4. ഈ ആവശ്യത്തിന്നു ഉണ്ടാക്കിയിരുന്ന ഒരു പ്രസംഗപീഠത്തില് എസ്രാശാസ്ത്രി കയറിനിന്നു; അവന്റെ അരികെ വലത്തുഭാഗത്തു മത്ഥിത്ഥ്യാവു, ശേമാ, അനായാവു, ഊരീയാവു, ഹില്ക്കീയാവു, മയസേയാവു എന്നിവരും ഇടത്തു ഭാഗത്തു പെദായാവു, മീശായേല്, മല്ക്കീയാവു, ഹാശൂം, ഹശ്ബദ്ദാനാ, സെഖര്യ്യാവു, മെശുല്ലാം എന്നിവരും നിന്നു.

4. Ezra stood on a high wooden platform that had been built for this occasion. Mattithiah, Shema, Anaiah, Uriah, Hilkiah, and Maaseiah were standing to his right, while Pedaiah, Mishael, Malchijah, Hashum, Hash Baddanah, Zechariah, and Meshullam were standing to his left.

5. എസ്രാ സകലജനവും കാണ്കെ പുസ്തകം വിടര്ത്തു; അവന് സകലജനത്തിന്നും മീതെ ആയിരുന്നു; അതു വിടര്ത്തപ്പോള് ജനമെല്ലാം എഴുന്നേറ്റു നിന്നു.

5. Ezra was up on the high platform, where he could be seen by everyone, and when he opened the book, they all stood up.

6. എസ്രാ മഹാദൈവമായ യഹോവയെ സ്തുതിച്ചു; ജനമൊക്കെയും കൈ ഉയര്ത്തി; ആമേന് , ആമേന് എന്നു പ്രതിവചനം പറഞ്ഞു വണങ്ങി സാഷ്ടാംഗം വീണു യഹോവയെ നമസ്കരിച്ചു.

6. Ezra praised the great LORD God, and the people shouted, 'Amen! Amen!' Then they bowed with their faces to the ground and worshiped the LORD.

7. ജനം താന്താന്റെ നിലയില് തന്നേ നിന്നിരിക്കെ യേശുവ, ബാനി, ശേരെബ്യാവു, യാമീന് , അക്കൂബ്, ശബ്ബെത്തായി, ഹോദീയാവു, മയസേയാവു, കെലീതാ, അസര്യ്യാവു, യോസാബാദ്, ഹാനാന് , പെലായാവു, എന്നിവരും ലേവ്യരും ജനത്തിന്നു ന്യായപ്രമാണത്തെ പൊരുള് തിരിച്ചുകൊടുത്തു.

7. After this, the Levites Jeshua, Bani, Sherebiah, Jamin, Akkub, Shabbethai, Hodiah, Maaseiah, Kelita, Azariah, Jozabad, Hanan, and Pelaiah went among the people, explaining the meaning of what Ezra had read.

8. ഇങ്ങനെ അവര് ദൈവത്തിന്റെ ന്യായപ്രമാണപുസ്തകം തെളിവായി വായിച്ചുകേള്പ്പിക്കയും വായിച്ചതു ഗ്രഹിപ്പാന് തക്കവണ്ണം അര്ത്ഥം പറഞ്ഞുകൊടുക്കയും ചെയ്തു.

9. ദേശാധിപതിയായ നെഹെമ്യാവും ശാസ്ത്രിയായ എസ്രാപുരോഹിതനും ജനത്തെ ഉപദേശിച്ചു പോന്ന ലേവ്യരും സകലജനത്തോടുംഈ ദിവസം നിങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവേക്കു വിശുദ്ധമാകുന്നു; നിങ്ങള് ദുഃഖിക്കരുതു കരകയും അരുതു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. ജനമെല്ലാം ന്യായപ്രമാണവാക്യങ്ങളെ കേട്ടപ്പോള് കരഞ്ഞുപോയിരുന്നു.

9. The people started crying when God's Law was read to them. Then Nehemiah the governor, Ezra the priest and teacher, and the Levites who had been teaching the people all said, 'This is a special day for the LORD your God. So don't be sad and don't cry!'

10. അനന്തരം അവര് അവരോടുനിങ്ങള് ചെന്നു മൃഷ്ടാന്നഭോജനവും മധുരപാനീയവും കഴിച്ചു തങ്ങള്ക്കായി വട്ടംകൂട്ടീട്ടില്ലാത്തവര്ക്കും പകര്ച്ച കൊടുത്തയപ്പിന് ; ഈ ദിവസം നമ്മുടെ കര്ത്താവിന്നു വിശുദ്ധമാകുന്നു; നിങ്ങള് ദുഃഖിക്കരുതു; യഹോവയിങ്കലെ സന്തോഷം നിങ്ങളുടെ ബലം ആകുന്നുവല്ലോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

10. Nehemiah told the people, 'Enjoy your good food and wine and share some with those who didn't have anything to bring. Don't be sad! This is a special day for the LORD, and he will make you happy and strong.'

11. അവ്വണ്ണം ലേവ്യരും നിങ്ങള് മിണ്ടാതിരിപ്പിന് ; ഈ ദിവസം വിശുദ്ധമല്ലോ; നിങ്ങള് ദുഃഖിക്കരുതു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു സര്വ്വജനത്തെയും സാവധാനപ്പെടുത്തി.

11. The Levites encouraged the people by saying, 'This is a sacred day, so don't worry or mourn!'

12. തങ്ങളോടു പറഞ്ഞ വചനം ബോദ്ധ്യമായതുകൊണ്ടു ജനമെല്ലാം പോയി തിന്നുകയും കുടിക്കയും പകര്ച്ച കൊടുത്തയക്കയും അത്യന്തം സന്തോഷിക്കയും ചെയ്തു.

12. When the people returned to their homes, they celebrated by eating and drinking and by sharing their food with those in need, because they had understood what had been read to them.

13. പിറ്റെന്നാള് സകലജനത്തിന്റെയും പിതൃഭവനത്തലവന്മാരും പുരോഹിതന്മാരും ലേവ്യരും ന്യായപ്രമാണവാക്യങ്ങളെ കേള്ക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു എസ്രാശാസ്ത്രിയുടെ അടുക്കല് ഒന്നിച്ചുകൂടി.

13. On the second day of the seventh month, the leaders of all the family groups came together with the priests and the Levites, so Ezra could teach them the Law

14. യഹോവ മോശെമുഖാന്തരം കല്പിച്ച ന്യായപ്രമാണത്തില്യിസ്രായേല്മക്കള് ഏഴാം മാസത്തിലെ ഉത്സവത്തില് കൂടാരങ്ങളില് പാര്ക്കേണം എന്നും എഴുതിയിരിക്കുന്നതുപോലെ

14. that the LORD had given to Moses. They learned from the Law that the people of Israel were to live in shelters when they celebrated the festival in the seventh month of the year.

15. കൂടാരങ്ങള് ഉണ്ടാക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു നിങ്ങള് മലയില് ചെന്നു ഒലിവുകൊമ്പു, കാട്ടൊലിവുകൊമ്പു, കൊഴുന്തുകൊമ്പു, ഈന്തമടല്, തഴെച്ച വൃക്ഷങ്ങളുടെ കൊമ്പു എന്നിവ കൊണ്ടുവരുവിന് എന്നു തങ്ങളുടെ എല്ലാ പട്ടണങ്ങളിലും യെരൂശലേമിലും അറിയിച്ചു പ്രസിദ്ധപ്പെടുത്തേണമെന്നും എഴുതിയിരിക്കുന്നതായി അവര് കണ്ടു.

15. They also learned that they were to go into the woods and gather branches of leafy trees such as olives, myrtles, and palms for making these shelters.

16. അങ്ങനെ ജനം ചെന്നു ഒരോരുത്തന് താന്താന്റെ വീട്ടിന്റെ മുകളിലും മുറ്റത്തും ദൈവാലയത്തിന്റെ പ്രാകാരങ്ങളിലും നീര്വ്വാതില്ക്കലെ വിശാലസ്ഥലത്തും എഫ്രയീംവാതില്ക്കലെ വിശാലസ്ഥലത്തും കൂടാരങ്ങളുണ്ടാക്കി.

16. So the people gathered branches and made shelters on the flat roofs of their houses, in their yards, in the courtyard of the temple, and in the open areas around the Water Gate and Ephraim Gate.

17. പ്രവാസത്തില് നിന്നു മടങ്ങിവന്നവരുടെ സര്വ്വസഭയും കൂടാരങ്ങള് ഉണ്ടാക്കി കൂടാരങ്ങളില് പാര്ത്തു; നൂന്റെ മകനായ യോശുവയുടെ കാലംമുതല് അന്നുവരെ യിസ്രായേല്മക്കള് അങ്ങനെ ചെയ്യാതിരുന്നതുകൊണ്ടു അന്നു ഏറ്റവും വലിയ സന്തോഷം ഉണ്ടായി.

17. Everyone who had returned from Babylonia built shelters. They lived in them and joyfully celebrated the Festival of Shelters for the first time since the days of Joshua son of Nun.

18. ആദ്യദിവസം മുതല് അവസാനദിവസംവരെ അവന് ദിവസേന ദൈവത്തിന്റെ ന്യായപ്രമാണപുസ്തകം വായിച്ചു കേള്പ്പിച്ചു; അങ്ങനെ അവര് ഏഴു ദിവസം ഉത്സവം ആചരിച്ചു; എട്ടാം ദിവസം നിയമപ്രകാരം വിശുദ്ധസഭായോഗം കൂടുകയും ചെയ്തു.

18. On each of the first seven days of the festival, Ezra read to the people from God's Law. Then on the eighth day, everyone gathered for worship, just as the Law had said they must.
