1. അങ്ങനെ യിസ്രായേല്മക്കള് തങ്ങളുടെ പട്ടണങ്ങളില് പാര്ത്തിരിക്കുമ്പോള് ഏഴാം മാസത്തില് സകലജനവും നീര്വ്വാതിലിന്റെ മുമ്പിലുള്ള വിശാലസ്ഥലത്തു ഒരുമനപ്പെട്ടു വന്നുകൂടി, യഹോവ യിസ്രായേലിന്നു കല്പിച്ചു കൊടുത്ത മോശെയുടെ ന്യായപ്രമാണപുസ്തകം കൊണ്ടുവരുവാന് എസ്രാശാസ്ത്രിയോടു പറഞ്ഞു.

1. And all the people gathered themselves together as one man into the broad place that was before the water gate. And they spoke to Ezra the scribe to bring the book of the law of Moses, which LORD had commanded to Israel.

2. ഏഴാം മാസം ഒന്നാം തിയ്യതി എസ്രാ പുരോഹിതന് പുരുഷന്മാരും സ്ത്രീകളും കേട്ടു ഗ്രഹിപ്പാന് പ്രാപ്തിയുള്ള എല്ലാവരുമായ സഭയുടെ മുമ്പാകെ ന്യായപ്രമാണം കൊണ്ടുവന്നു,

2. And Ezra the priest brought the law before the assembly, both men and women, and all who could hear with understanding, upon the first day of the seventh month.

3. നീര്വ്വാതിലിന്നെതിരെയുള്ള വിശാലസ്ഥലത്തുവെച്ചു രാവിലെതുടങ്ങി ഉച്ചവരെ പുരുഷന്മാരും സ്ത്രീകളും ഗ്രഹിപ്പാന് പ്രാപ്തിയുള്ള എല്ലാവരും കേള്ക്കെ ന്യായപ്രമാണ പുസ്തകം വായിച്ചു; സര്വ്വജനവും ശ്രദ്ധിച്ചു കേട്ടു.

3. And he read in it before the broad place that was before the water gate from early morning until midday, in the presence of the men and the women, and of those who could understand. And the ears of all the people were attentive to the book of the law.

4. ഈ ആവശ്യത്തിന്നു ഉണ്ടാക്കിയിരുന്ന ഒരു പ്രസംഗപീഠത്തില് എസ്രാശാസ്ത്രി കയറിനിന്നു; അവന്റെ അരികെ വലത്തുഭാഗത്തു മത്ഥിത്ഥ്യാവു, ശേമാ, അനായാവു, ഊരീയാവു, ഹില്ക്കീയാവു, മയസേയാവു എന്നിവരും ഇടത്തു ഭാഗത്തു പെദായാവു, മീശായേല്, മല്ക്കീയാവു, ഹാശൂം, ഹശ്ബദ്ദാനാ, സെഖര്യ്യാവു, മെശുല്ലാം എന്നിവരും നിന്നു.

4. And Ezra the scribe stood upon a pulpit of wood, which they had made for the purpose. And beside him stood Mattithiah, and Shema, and Anaiah, and Uriah, and Hilkiah, and Maaseiah, on his right hand, and on his left hand, Pedaiah, and Mishael, and Malchijah, and Hashum, and Hashbaddanah, Zechariah, and Meshullam.

5. എസ്രാ സകലജനവും കാണ്കെ പുസ്തകം വിടര്ത്തു; അവന് സകലജനത്തിന്നും മീതെ ആയിരുന്നു; അതു വിടര്ത്തപ്പോള് ജനമെല്ലാം എഴുന്നേറ്റു നിന്നു.

5. And Ezra opened the book in the sight of all the people (for he was above all the people), and when he opened it, all the people stood up.

6. എസ്രാ മഹാദൈവമായ യഹോവയെ സ്തുതിച്ചു; ജനമൊക്കെയും കൈ ഉയര്ത്തി; ആമേന് , ആമേന് എന്നു പ്രതിവചനം പറഞ്ഞു വണങ്ങി സാഷ്ടാംഗം വീണു യഹോവയെ നമസ്കരിച്ചു.

6. And Ezra blessed LORD, the great God. And all the people answered, Amen, Amen, with the lifting up of their hands. And they bowed their heads, and worshipped LORD with their faces to the ground.

7. ജനം താന്താന്റെ നിലയില് തന്നേ നിന്നിരിക്കെ യേശുവ, ബാനി, ശേരെബ്യാവു, യാമീന് , അക്കൂബ്, ശബ്ബെത്തായി, ഹോദീയാവു, മയസേയാവു, കെലീതാ, അസര്യ്യാവു, യോസാബാദ്, ഹാനാന് , പെലായാവു, എന്നിവരും ലേവ്യരും ജനത്തിന്നു ന്യായപ്രമാണത്തെ പൊരുള് തിരിച്ചുകൊടുത്തു.

7. Also Jeshua, and Bani, and Sherebiah, Jamin, Akkub, Shabbethai, Hodiah, Maaseiah, Kelita, Azariah, Jozabad, Hanan, Pelaiah, and the Levites, caused the people to understand the law. And the people stood in their place.

8. ഇങ്ങനെ അവര് ദൈവത്തിന്റെ ന്യായപ്രമാണപുസ്തകം തെളിവായി വായിച്ചുകേള്പ്പിക്കയും വായിച്ചതു ഗ്രഹിപ്പാന് തക്കവണ്ണം അര്ത്ഥം പറഞ്ഞുകൊടുക്കയും ചെയ്തു.

8. And they read in the book, in the law of God, distinctly, and they gave the sense, so that they understood the reading.

9. ദേശാധിപതിയായ നെഹെമ്യാവും ശാസ്ത്രിയായ എസ്രാപുരോഹിതനും ജനത്തെ ഉപദേശിച്ചു പോന്ന ലേവ്യരും സകലജനത്തോടുംഈ ദിവസം നിങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവേക്കു വിശുദ്ധമാകുന്നു; നിങ്ങള് ദുഃഖിക്കരുതു കരകയും അരുതു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. ജനമെല്ലാം ന്യായപ്രമാണവാക്യങ്ങളെ കേട്ടപ്പോള് കരഞ്ഞുപോയിരുന്നു.

9. And Nehemiah, who was the governor, and Ezra the priest the scribe, and the Levites who taught the people, said to all the people, This day is holy to LORD your God; do not mourn nor weep. For all the people wept when they heard the words of the law.

10. അനന്തരം അവര് അവരോടുനിങ്ങള് ചെന്നു മൃഷ്ടാന്നഭോജനവും മധുരപാനീയവും കഴിച്ചു തങ്ങള്ക്കായി വട്ടംകൂട്ടീട്ടില്ലാത്തവര്ക്കും പകര്ച്ച കൊടുത്തയപ്പിന് ; ഈ ദിവസം നമ്മുടെ കര്ത്താവിന്നു വിശുദ്ധമാകുന്നു; നിങ്ങള് ദുഃഖിക്കരുതു; യഹോവയിങ്കലെ സന്തോഷം നിങ്ങളുടെ ബലം ആകുന്നുവല്ലോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

10. Then he said to them, Go your way, eat fat things, and drink sweet things, and send portions to him for whom nothing is prepared. For this day is holy to our LORD; neither be ye grieved, for the joy of LORD is your strength.

11. അവ്വണ്ണം ലേവ്യരും നിങ്ങള് മിണ്ടാതിരിപ്പിന് ; ഈ ദിവസം വിശുദ്ധമല്ലോ; നിങ്ങള് ദുഃഖിക്കരുതു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു സര്വ്വജനത്തെയും സാവധാനപ്പെടുത്തി.

11. So the Levites quieted all the people, saying, Be silent, for the day is holy, neither be ye grieved.

12. തങ്ങളോടു പറഞ്ഞ വചനം ബോദ്ധ്യമായതുകൊണ്ടു ജനമെല്ലാം പോയി തിന്നുകയും കുടിക്കയും പകര്ച്ച കൊടുത്തയക്കയും അത്യന്തം സന്തോഷിക്കയും ചെയ്തു.

12. And all the people went their way to eat, and to drink, and to send portions, and to make great mirth, because they had understood the words that were declared to them.

13. പിറ്റെന്നാള് സകലജനത്തിന്റെയും പിതൃഭവനത്തലവന്മാരും പുരോഹിതന്മാരും ലേവ്യരും ന്യായപ്രമാണവാക്യങ്ങളെ കേള്ക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു എസ്രാശാസ്ത്രിയുടെ അടുക്കല് ഒന്നിച്ചുകൂടി.

13. And on the second day were gathered together the heads of fathers of all the people, the priests, and the Levites, to Ezra the scribe, even to give attention to the words of the law.

14. യഹോവ മോശെമുഖാന്തരം കല്പിച്ച ന്യായപ്രമാണത്തില്യിസ്രായേല്മക്കള് ഏഴാം മാസത്തിലെ ഉത്സവത്തില് കൂടാരങ്ങളില് പാര്ക്കേണം എന്നും എഴുതിയിരിക്കുന്നതുപോലെ

14. And they found written in the law how that LORD had commanded by Moses that the sons of Israel should dwell in booths in the feast of the seventh month,

15. കൂടാരങ്ങള് ഉണ്ടാക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു നിങ്ങള് മലയില് ചെന്നു ഒലിവുകൊമ്പു, കാട്ടൊലിവുകൊമ്പു, കൊഴുന്തുകൊമ്പു, ഈന്തമടല്, തഴെച്ച വൃക്ഷങ്ങളുടെ കൊമ്പു എന്നിവ കൊണ്ടുവരുവിന് എന്നു തങ്ങളുടെ എല്ലാ പട്ടണങ്ങളിലും യെരൂശലേമിലും അറിയിച്ചു പ്രസിദ്ധപ്പെടുത്തേണമെന്നും എഴുതിയിരിക്കുന്നതായി അവര് കണ്ടു.

15. and that they should publish and proclaim in all their cities, and in Jerusalem, saying, Go forth to the mount, and fetch olive branches, and branches of wild olive, and myrtle branches, and palm branches, and branches of thick trees, to make booths, as it is written.

16. അങ്ങനെ ജനം ചെന്നു ഒരോരുത്തന് താന്താന്റെ വീട്ടിന്റെ മുകളിലും മുറ്റത്തും ദൈവാലയത്തിന്റെ പ്രാകാരങ്ങളിലും നീര്വ്വാതില്ക്കലെ വിശാലസ്ഥലത്തും എഫ്രയീംവാതില്ക്കലെ വിശാലസ്ഥലത്തും കൂടാരങ്ങളുണ്ടാക്കി.

16. So the people went forth, and brought them, and made themselves booths, each one upon the roof of his house, and in their courts, and in the courts of the house of God, and in the broad place of the water gate, and in the broad place of the gate of Ephraim.

17. പ്രവാസത്തില് നിന്നു മടങ്ങിവന്നവരുടെ സര്വ്വസഭയും കൂടാരങ്ങള് ഉണ്ടാക്കി കൂടാരങ്ങളില് പാര്ത്തു; നൂന്റെ മകനായ യോശുവയുടെ കാലംമുതല് അന്നുവരെ യിസ്രായേല്മക്കള് അങ്ങനെ ചെയ്യാതിരുന്നതുകൊണ്ടു അന്നു ഏറ്റവും വലിയ സന്തോഷം ഉണ്ടായി.

17. And all the assembly of those who came again out of the captivity made booths, and dwelt in the booths, for since the days of Jeshua the son of Nun to that day the sons of Israel had not done so. And there was very great gladness.

18. ആദ്യദിവസം മുതല് അവസാനദിവസംവരെ അവന് ദിവസേന ദൈവത്തിന്റെ ന്യായപ്രമാണപുസ്തകം വായിച്ചു കേള്പ്പിച്ചു; അങ്ങനെ അവര് ഏഴു ദിവസം ഉത്സവം ആചരിച്ചു; എട്ടാം ദിവസം നിയമപ്രകാരം വിശുദ്ധസഭായോഗം കൂടുകയും ചെയ്തു.

18. Also day by day, from the first day to the last day, he read in the book of the law of God. And they kept the feast seven days, and on the eighth day was a solemn assembly according to the ordinance.
