1. അന്നു അഹശ്വേരോശ്രാജാവു യെഹൂദന്മാരുടെ ശത്രുവായ ഹാമാന്റെ വീടു എസ്ഥേര്രാജ്ഞിക്കു കൊടുത്തു; മൊര്ദ്ദെഖായിക്കു തന്നോടുള്ള ചാര്ച്ച ഇന്നതെന്നു എസ്ഥേര് അറിയിച്ചതുകൊണ്ടു അവന് രാജസന്നിധിയില് പ്രവേശം പ്രാപിച്ചു.

1. On that day did the king Ahasuerus give the house of Haman the Jews enemy unto Esther the queen. And Mordecai came before the king; for Esther had told what he was unto her.

2. രാജാവു ഹാമാന്റെ പക്കല്നിന്നു എടുത്ത തന്റെ മോതിരം ഊരി മൊര്ദ്ദെഖായിക്കു കൊടുത്തു; എസ്ഥേര് മൊര്ദ്ദെഖായിയെ ഹാമാന്റെ വീട്ടിന്നു മേല്വിചാരകനാക്കിവെച്ചു.

2. And the king took off his ring, which he had taken from Haman, and gave it unto Mordecai. And Esther set Mordecai over the house of Haman.

3. എസ്ഥേര് പിന്നെയും രാജാവിനോടു സംസാരിച്ചു അവന്റെ കാല്ക്കല് വീണു, ആഗാഗ്യനായ ഹാമാന്റെ ദുഷ്ടതയും അവന് യെഹൂദന്മാര്ക്കും വിരോധമായി നിരൂപിച്ച ഉപായവും നിഷ്ഫലമാക്കേണമെന്നു കരഞ്ഞു അപേക്ഷിച്ചു.

3. And Esther spake yet again before the king, and fell down at his feet, and besought him with tears to put away the mischief of Haman the Agagite, and his device that he had devised against the Jews.

4. രാജാവു പൊന് ചെങ്കോല് എസ്ഥേരിന്റെ നേരെ നീട്ടി; എസ്ഥേര് എഴുന്നേറ്റു രാജസന്നിധിയില്നിന്നു പറഞ്ഞതു

4. Then the king held out to Esther the golden sceptre. So Esther arose, and stood before the king.

5. രാജാവിന്നു തിരുവുള്ളമുണ്ടായി തിരുമുമ്പാകെ എനിക്കു കൃപ ലഭിച്ചു രാജാവിന്നു കാര്യം ന്യായമെന്നു ബോധിച്ചു തൃക്കണ്ണില് ഞാനും പ്രിയയായിരിക്കുന്നുവെങ്കില് രാജാവിന്റെ സകലസംസ്ഥാനങ്ങളിലും യെഹൂദന്മാരെ മുടിച്ചുകളയേണമെന്നു ആഗാഗ്യനായ ഹമ്മെദാഥയുടെ മകന് ഹാമാന് എഴുതിയ ഉപായലേഖനങ്ങളെ ദുര്ബ്ബലപ്പെടുത്തേണ്ടതിന്നു കല്പന അയക്കേണമേ.

5. And she said, If it please the king, and if I have found favour in his sight, and the thing seem right before the king, and I be pleasing in his eyes, let it be written to reverse the letters devised by Haman the son of Hammedatha the Agagite, which he wrote to destroy the Jews which are in all the kings provinces:

6. എന്റെ ജനത്തിന്നു വരുന്ന അനര്ത്ഥം ഞാന് എങ്ങനെ കണ്ടു സഹിക്കും? എന്റെ വംശത്തിന്റെ നാശവും ഞാന് എങ്ങനെ കണ്ടു സഹിക്കും.

6. for how can I endure to see the evil that shall come unto my people? or how can I endure to see the destruction of my kindred?

7. അപ്പോള് അഹശ്വേരോശ്രാജാവു എസ്ഥേര്രാജ്ഞിയോടും യെഹൂദനായ മൊര്ദ്ദെഖായിയോടും കല്പിച്ചതുഞാന് ഹാമാന്റെ വീടു എസ്ഥോരിന്നു കൊടുത്തുവല്ലോ; അവന് യെഹൂദന്മാരെ കയ്യേറ്റം ചെയ്വാന് പോയതുകൊണ്ടു അവനെ കഴുമരത്തിന്മേല് തൂക്കിക്കളഞ്ഞു.

7. Then the king Ahasuerus said unto Esther the queen and to Mordecai the Jew, Behold, I have given Esther the house of Haman, and him they have hanged upon the gallows, because he laid his hand upon the Jews.

8. നിങ്ങള്ക്കു ബോധിച്ചതുപോലെ നിങ്ങളും രാജാവിന്റെ നാമത്തില് യെഹൂദന്മാര്ക്കുംവേണ്ടി എഴുതി രാജാവിന്റെ മോതിരംകൊണ്ടു മുദ്രയിടുവിന് ; രാജനാമത്തില് എഴുതുകയും രാജമോതിരംകൊണ്ടു മുദ്രയിടുകയും ചെയ്ത രേഖയെ ദുര്ബ്ബലപ്പെടുത്തുവാന് ആര്ക്കും പാടില്ലല്ലോ.

8. Write ye also to the Jews, as it liketh you, in the kings name, and seal it with the kings ring: for the writing which is written in the kings name, and sealed with the kings ring, may no man reverse.

9. അങ്ങനെ സീവാന് മാസമായ മൂന്നാം മാസം ഇരുപത്തിമൂന്നാം തിയ്യതി തന്നേ രാജാവിന്റെ രായസക്കാരെ വിളിച്ചു; മെര്ദ്ദെഖായി കല്പിച്ചതുപോലെ ഒക്കെയും അവര് യെഹൂദന്മാര്ക്കും ഹിന്തുദേശം മുതല് കൂശ്വരെയുള്ള നൂറ്റിരുപത്തേഴു സംസ്ഥാനങ്ങളിലെ രാജപ്രതിനിധികള്ക്കും ദേശാധിപതിമാര്ക്കും സംസ്ഥാനപ്രഭുക്കന്മാര്ക്കും അതതു സംസ്ഥാനത്തിലേക്കു അവിടത്തെ അക്ഷരത്തിലും അതതു ജാതിക്കു അതതു ഭാഷയിലും യെഹൂദന്മാര്ക്കും അവരുടെ അക്ഷരത്തിലും ഭാഷയിലും എഴുതി.

9. Then were the kings scribes called at that time, in the third month, which is the month, Sivan, on the three and twentieth {cf15i day} thereof; and it was written according to all that Mordecai commanded unto the Jews, and to the satraps, and the governors and princes of the provinces which are from India unto Ethiopia, an hundred twenty and seven provinces, unto every province according to the writing thereof, and unto every people after their language, and to the Jews according to their writing, and according to their language.

10. അവന് അഹശ്വേരോശ്രാജാവിന്റെ നാമത്തില് എഴുതിച്ചു രാജമോതിരംകൊണ്ടു മുദ്രയിട്ടു ലേഖനങ്ങളെ രാജാവിന്റെ അശ്വഗണത്തില് വളര്ന്നു രാജകാര്യത്തിന്നു ഉപയോഗിക്കുന്ന തുരഗങ്ങളുടെ പുറത്തു കയറി ഔടിക്കുന്ന അഞ്ചല്ക്കാരുടെ കൈവശം കൊടുത്തയച്ചു.

10. And he wrote in the name of king Ahasuerus, and sealed it with the kings ring, and sent letters by posts on horseback, riding on swift steeds that were used in the kings service, bred of the stud:

11. അവയില് രാജാവു അഹശ്വേരോശ്രാജാവിന്റെ സകലസംസ്ഥാനങ്ങളിലും ആദാര്മാസമായ പന്ത്രണ്ടാം മാസം പതിമ്മൂന്നാം തിയ്യതി തന്നേ,

11. wherein the king granted the Jews which were in every city to gather themselves together, and to stand for their life, to destroy, to slay, and to cause to perish, all the power of the people and province that would assault them, {cf15i their} little ones and women, and to take the spoil of them for a prey,

12. അതതു പട്ടണത്തിലേ യെഹൂദന്മാര് ഒന്നിച്ചുകൂടി തങ്ങളുടെ ജീവരക്ഷെക്കു വേണ്ടി പൊരുതു നില്പാനും തങ്ങളെ ഉപദ്രവിപ്പാന് വരുന്ന ജാതിയുടെയും സംസ്ഥാനത്തിന്റെയും സകലസൈന്യത്തെയും കുഞ്ഞുങ്ങളെയും സ്ത്രീകളെയും നശിപ്പിച്ചു കൊന്നുമുടിപ്പാനും അവരുടെ സമ്പത്തു കൊള്ളയിടുവാനും യെഹൂദന്മാര്ക്കും അധികാരം കൊടുത്തു.

12. upon one day in all the provinces of king Ahasuerus, {cf15i namely}, upon the thirteenth {cf15i day} of the twelfth month, which is the month Adar.

13. അന്നത്തേക്കു യെഹൂദന്മാര് തങ്ങളുടെ ശത്രുക്കളോടു പ്രതിക്രിയചെയ്വാന് ഒരുങ്ങിയിരിക്കേണമെന്നു സകല ജാതികള്ക്കും പരസ്യം ചെയ്യേണ്ടതിന്നു കൊടുത്ത തീര്പ്പിന്റെ പകര്പ്പു ഔരോ സംസ്ഥാനത്തിലും പ്രസിദ്ധമാക്കി.

13. A copy of the writing, that the decree should be given out in every province, was published unto all the peoples, and that the Jews should be ready against that day to avenge themselves on their enemies.

14. അങ്ങനെ അഞ്ചല്ക്കാര് രാജകീയതുരഗങ്ങളുടെ പുറത്തു കയറി രാജാവിന്റെ കല്പനയാല് നിര്ബന്ധിതരായി ബദ്ധപ്പെട്ടു ഔടിച്ചുപോയി. ശൂശന് രാജധാനിയിലും തീര്പ്പു പരസ്യം ചെയ്തു.

14. So the posts that rode upon swift steeds that were used in the kings service went out, being hastened and pressed on by the kings commandment; and the decree was given out in Shushan the palace.

15. എന്നാല് മൊര്ദ്ദെഖായി നീലവും ശുഭ്രവുമായ രാജവസ്ത്രവും വലിയ പൊന് കിരീടവും ചണനൂല്കൊണ്ടുള്ള രക്താംബരവും ധരിച്ചു രാജസന്നിധിയില്നിന്നു പുറപ്പെട്ടു; ശൂശന് പട്ടണം ആര്ത്തു സന്തോഷിച്ചു.

15. And Mordecai went forth front the presence of the king in royal apparel of blue and white, and with a great crown of gold, and with a robe of fine linen and purple: and the city of Shushan shouted and was glad.

16. യെഹൂദന്മാര്ക്കും പ്രകാശവും സന്തോഷവും ആനന്ദവും ബഹുമാനവും ഉണ്ടായി.

16. The Jews had light and gladness, and joy and honour.

17. രാജാവിന്റെ കല്പനയും തീര്പ്പും ചെന്നെത്തിയ സകല സംസ്ഥാനങ്ങളിലും പട്ടണങ്ങളിലും യെഹൂദന്മാര്ക്കും ആനന്ദവും സന്തോഷവും വിരുന്നും ഉത്സവവും ഉണ്ടായി; യെഹൂദന്മാരെയുള്ള പേടി ദേശത്തെ ജാതികളിന്മേല് വീണിരുന്നതുകൊണ്ടു അവര് പലരും യെഹൂദന്മാരായിത്തീര്ന്നു.

17. And in every province, and in every city, whithersoever the kings commandment and his decree came, the Jews had gladness and joy, a feast and a good day. And many from among the peoples of the land became Jews; for the fear of the Jews was fallen upon them.
