1. അതിന്നു ഇയ്യോബ് ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞതെന്തെന്നാല്

1. Then Job replied and said:

2. ഔഹോ, നിങ്ങള് ആകുന്നു വിദ്വജ്ജനം! നിങ്ങള് മരിച്ചാല് ജ്ഞാനം മരിക്കും.

2. No doubt you are the intelligent folk, and with you wisdom shall die!

3. നിങ്ങളെപ്പോലെ എനിക്കും ബുദ്ധി ഉണ്ടു; നിങ്ങളെക്കാള് ഞാന് അധമനല്ല; ആര്ക്കാകുന്നു ഈവക അറിഞ്ഞുകൂടാത്തതു?

3. But I have intelligence as well as you; for who does not know such things as these?

4. ദൈവത്തെ വിളിച്ചു ഉത്തരം ലഭിച്ച ഞാന് എന്റെ സഖിക്കു പരിഹാസവിഷയമായിത്തീര്ന്നു; നീതിമാനും നഷ്കളങ്കനുമായവന് തന്നേ പരിഹാസവിഷയമായിത്തീര്ന്നു.

4. I have become the sport of my neighbors: 'The one whom God answers when he calls upon him, The just, the perfect man,' is a laughing-stock;

5. വിപത്തു നിന്ദ്യം എന്നു സുഖിയന്റെ വിചാരം; കാല് ഇടറുന്നവര്ക്കും അതു ഒരുങ്ങിയിരിക്കുന്നു.

5. The undisturbed esteem my downfall a disgrace such as awaits unsteady feet;

6. പിടിച്ചുപറിക്കാരുടെ കൂടാരങ്ങള് ശുഭമായിരിക്കുന്നു; ദൈവത്തെ കോപിപ്പിക്കുന്നവര് നിര്ഭയമായ്വസിക്കുന്നു; അവരുടെ കയ്യില് ദൈവം എത്തിച്ചുകൊടുക്കുന്നു.

6. Yet the tents of robbers are prosperous, and those who provoke God are secure.

7. മൃഗങ്ങളോടു ചോദിക്ക; അവ നിന്നെ ഉപദേശിക്കും; ആകാശത്തിലെ പക്ഷികളോടു ചോദിക്ക; അവ പറഞ്ഞുതരും;

7. But now ask the beasts to teach you, and the birds of the air to tell you;

8. അല്ല, ഭൂമിയോടു സംഭാഷിക്ക; അതു നിന്നെ ഉപദേശിക്കും; സമുദ്രത്തിലെ മത്സ്യം നിന്നോടു വിവരിക്കും.

8. Or the reptiles on earth to instruct you, and the fish of the sea to inform you.

9. യഹോവയുടെ കൈ ഇതു പ്രര്ത്തിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു ഇവയെല്ലാംകൊണ്ടും ഗ്രഹിക്കാത്തവനാര്?

9. Which of all these does not know that the hand of God has done this?

10. സകലജീവജന്തുക്കളുടെയും പ്രാണനും സകലമനുഷ്യവര്ഗ്ഗത്തിന്റെയും ശ്വാസവും അവന്റെ കയ്യില് ഇരിക്കുന്നു.

10. In his hand is the soul of every living thing, and the life breath of all mankind.

11. ചെവി വാക്കുകളെ പരിശോധിക്കുന്നില്ലയോ? അണ്ണാകൂ ഭക്ഷണം രുചിനോക്കുന്നില്ലയോ?

11. Does not the ear judge words as the mouth tastes food?

12. വൃദ്ധന്മാരുടെ പക്കല് ജ്ഞാനവും വയോധികന്മാരില് വിവേകവും ഉണ്ടു.

12. So with old age is wisdom, and with length of days understanding.

13. ജ്ഞാനവും ശക്തിയും അവന്റെ പക്കല്, ആലോചനയും വിവേകവും അവന്നുള്ളതു.

13. With him are wisdom and might; his are counsel and understanding.

14. അവന് ഇടിച്ചുകളഞ്ഞാല് ആര്ക്കും പണിതുകൂടാ; അവന് മനുഷ്യനെ ബന്ധിച്ചാല് ആരും അഴിച്ചുവിടുകയില്ല.

14. If he breaks a thing down, there is no rebuilding; if he imprisons a man, there is no release.

15. അവന് വെള്ളം തടുത്തുകളഞ്ഞാല് അതു വറ്റിപ്പോകുന്നു; അവന് വിട്ടയച്ചാല് അതു ഭൂമിയെ മറിച്ചുകളയുന്നു.

15. He holds back the waters and there is drought; he sends them forth and they overwhelm the land.

16. അവന്റെ പക്കല് ശക്തിയും സാഫല്യവും ഉണ്ടു; വഞ്ചിതനും വഞ്ചകനും അവന്നുള്ളവര്.

16. With him are strength and prudence; the misled and the misleaders are his.

17. അവന് മന്ത്രിമാരെ കവര്ച്ചയായി കൊണ്ടു പോകുന്നു; ന്യായാധിപന്മാരെ ഭോഷന്മാരാക്കുന്നു.

17. He sends counselors away barefoot, and of judges he makes fools.

18. രാജാക്കന്മാര് ബന്ധിച്ചതിനെ അഴിക്കുന്നു; അവരുടെ അരെക്കു കയറു കെട്ടുന്നു.

18. He loosens the bonds imposed by kings and leaves but a waistcloth to bind the king's own loins.

19. അവന് പുരോഹിതന്മാരെ കവര്ച്ചയായി കൊണ്ടുപോകുന്നു; ബലശാലികളെ തള്ളിയിട്ടുകളയുന്നു.

19. and lets their never-failing waters flow away.

20. അവന് വിശ്വസ്തന്മാര്ക്കും വാക്കു മുട്ടിക്കുന്നു. വൃദ്ധന്മാരുടെ ബുദ്ധി എടുത്തുകളയുന്നു.

20. He silences the trusted adviser, and takes discretion from the aged.

21. അവന് പ്രഭുക്കന്മാരുടെമേല് ധിക്കാരം പകരുന്നു; ബലവാന്മാരുടെ അരക്കച്ച അഴിച്ചുകളയുന്നു.

21. He breaks down the barriers of the streams

22. അവന് അഗാധകാര്യങ്ങളെ അന്ധകാരത്തില് നിന്നു വെളിച്ചത്താക്കുന്നു; അന്ധതമസ്സിനെ പ്രകാശത്തില് വരുത്തുന്നു.

22. The recesses of the darkness he discloses, and brings the gloom forth to the light.

23. അവന് ജാതികളെ വര്ദ്ധിപ്പക്കയും നശിപ്പിക്കയും ചെയ്യുന്നു; അവന് ജാതികളെ ചിതറിക്കയും കൂട്ടുകയും ചെയ്യുന്നു.

23. He makes nations great and he destroys them; he spreads peoples abroad and he abandons them.

24. അവന് ഭൂവാസികളില് തലവന്മാരെ ധൈര്യം കെടുക്കുന്നു; വഴിയില്ലാത്ത ശൂന്യപ്രദേശത്തു അവരെ ഉഴലുമാറാക്കുന്നു;

24. He takes understanding from the leaders of the land,

25. അവര് വെളിച്ചമില്ലാതെ ഇരുട്ടില് തപ്പിനടക്കുന്നു; അവന് മത്തന്മാരെപ്പോലെ അവരെ ചാഞ്ചാടുമാറാക്കുന്നു.

25. till they grope in the darkness without light; he makes them stagger like drunken men.
