1. അതിന്നു ഇയ്യോബ് ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞതെന്തെന്നാല്

1. And Job answered and said,

2. ഔഹോ, നിങ്ങള് ആകുന്നു വിദ്വജ്ജനം! നിങ്ങള് മരിച്ചാല് ജ്ഞാനം മരിക്കും.

2. So then you [alone] are men, and wisdom shall die with you?

3. നിങ്ങളെപ്പോലെ എനിക്കും ബുദ്ധി ഉണ്ടു; നിങ്ങളെക്കാള് ഞാന് അധമനല്ല; ആര്ക്കാകുന്നു ഈവക അറിഞ്ഞുകൂടാത്തതു?

3. [But] I also have a heart as well as you.

4. ദൈവത്തെ വിളിച്ചു ഉത്തരം ലഭിച്ച ഞാന് എന്റെ സഖിക്കു പരിഹാസവിഷയമായിത്തീര്ന്നു; നീതിമാനും നഷ്കളങ്കനുമായവന് തന്നേ പരിഹാസവിഷയമായിത്തീര്ന്നു.

4. For a righteous and blameless man has become a subject for mockery.

5. വിപത്തു നിന്ദ്യം എന്നു സുഖിയന്റെ വിചാരം; കാല് ഇടറുന്നവര്ക്കും അതു ഒരുങ്ങിയിരിക്കുന്നു.

5. For it had been ordained that he should fall under others at the appointed time, and that his houses should be spoiled by transgressors: let not however anyone trust that, being evil, he shall be [held] guiltless,

6. പിടിച്ചുപറിക്കാരുടെ കൂടാരങ്ങള് ശുഭമായിരിക്കുന്നു; ദൈവത്തെ കോപിപ്പിക്കുന്നവര് നിര്ഭയമായ്വസിക്കുന്നു; അവരുടെ കയ്യില് ദൈവം എത്തിച്ചുകൊടുക്കുന്നു.

6. even as many as provoke the Lord, as if there were indeed to be no inquisition made of them.

7. മൃഗങ്ങളോടു ചോദിക്ക; അവ നിന്നെ ഉപദേശിക്കും; ആകാശത്തിലെ പക്ഷികളോടു ചോദിക്ക; അവ പറഞ്ഞുതരും;

7. But ask now the beasts, if they may speak to you, and the birds of the air, if they may declare to you.

8. അല്ല, ഭൂമിയോടു സംഭാഷിക്ക; അതു നിന്നെ ഉപദേശിക്കും; സമുദ്രത്തിലെ മത്സ്യം നിന്നോടു വിവരിക്കും.

8. Tell the earth, if it may speak to you, and the fish of the sea shall explain to you.

9. യഹോവയുടെ കൈ ഇതു പ്രര്ത്തിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു ഇവയെല്ലാംകൊണ്ടും ഗ്രഹിക്കാത്തവനാര്?

9. Who then has not known in all these things, that the hand of the Lord has made them?

10. സകലജീവജന്തുക്കളുടെയും പ്രാണനും സകലമനുഷ്യവര്ഗ്ഗത്തിന്റെയും ശ്വാസവും അവന്റെ കയ്യില് ഇരിക്കുന്നു.

10. Seeing that the life of all living things is in His hand, and the breath of every man.

11. ചെവി വാക്കുകളെ പരിശോധിക്കുന്നില്ലയോ? അണ്ണാകൂ ഭക്ഷണം രുചിനോക്കുന്നില്ലയോ?

11. For the ear tries words, and the palate tastes meats.

12. വൃദ്ധന്മാരുടെ പക്കല് ജ്ഞാനവും വയോധികന്മാരില് വിവേകവും ഉണ്ടു.

12. In length of time is wisdom, and in long life knowledge.

13. ജ്ഞാനവും ശക്തിയും അവന്റെ പക്കല്, ആലോചനയും വിവേകവും അവന്നുള്ളതു.

13. With Him are wisdom and power, with Him counsel and understanding.

14. അവന് ഇടിച്ചുകളഞ്ഞാല് ആര്ക്കും പണിതുകൂടാ; അവന് മനുഷ്യനെ ബന്ധിച്ചാല് ആരും അഴിച്ചുവിടുകയില്ല.

14. If He should cast down, who will build up? If He should shut up against man, who shall open?

15. അവന് വെള്ളം തടുത്തുകളഞ്ഞാല് അതു വറ്റിപ്പോകുന്നു; അവന് വിട്ടയച്ചാല് അതു ഭൂമിയെ മറിച്ചുകളയുന്നു.

15. If He should withhold the water, He will dry the earth: and if He should let it loose, He overthrows and destroys it.

16. അവന്റെ പക്കല് ശക്തിയും സാഫല്യവും ഉണ്ടു; വഞ്ചിതനും വഞ്ചകനും അവന്നുള്ളവര്.

16. With Him are strength and power: He has knowledge and understanding.

17. അവന് മന്ത്രിമാരെ കവര്ച്ചയായി കൊണ്ടു പോകുന്നു; ന്യായാധിപന്മാരെ ഭോഷന്മാരാക്കുന്നു.

17. He leads counselors away captive, and maddens the judges of the earth.

18. രാജാക്കന്മാര് ബന്ധിച്ചതിനെ അഴിക്കുന്നു; അവരുടെ അരെക്കു കയറു കെട്ടുന്നു.

18. He seats kings upon thrones, and binds their waist with a belt.

19. അവന് പുരോഹിതന്മാരെ കവര്ച്ചയായി കൊണ്ടുപോകുന്നു; ബലശാലികളെ തള്ളിയിട്ടുകളയുന്നു.

19. He sends away priests into captivity, and overthrows the mighty ones of the earth.

20. അവന് വിശ്വസ്തന്മാര്ക്കും വാക്കു മുട്ടിക്കുന്നു. വൃദ്ധന്മാരുടെ ബുദ്ധി എടുത്തുകളയുന്നു.

20. He changes the lips of the trusty, and He knows the understanding of the elders.

21. അവന് പ്രഭുക്കന്മാരുടെമേല് ധിക്കാരം പകരുന്നു; ബലവാന്മാരുടെ അരക്കച്ച അഴിച്ചുകളയുന്നു.

21. He pours dishonor upon princes, and heals the lowly.

22. അവന് അഗാധകാര്യങ്ങളെ അന്ധകാരത്തില് നിന്നു വെളിച്ചത്താക്കുന്നു; അന്ധതമസ്സിനെ പ്രകാശത്തില് വരുത്തുന്നു.

22. Revealing deep things out of darkness: and He has brought into light the shadow of death.

23. അവന് ജാതികളെ വര്ദ്ധിപ്പക്കയും നശിപ്പിക്കയും ചെയ്യുന്നു; അവന് ജാതികളെ ചിതറിക്കയും കൂട്ടുകയും ചെയ്യുന്നു.

23. Causing the nations to wander, and destroying them: overthrowing the nations, and leading them away.

24. അവന് ഭൂവാസികളില് തലവന്മാരെ ധൈര്യം കെടുക്കുന്നു; വഴിയില്ലാത്ത ശൂന്യപ്രദേശത്തു അവരെ ഉഴലുമാറാക്കുന്നു;

24. Perplexing the minds of the princes of the earth, and He causes them to wander in a way, they have not known, [saying],

25. അവര് വെളിച്ചമില്ലാതെ ഇരുട്ടില് തപ്പിനടക്കുന്നു; അവന് മത്തന്മാരെപ്പോലെ അവരെ ചാഞ്ചാടുമാറാക്കുന്നു.

25. Let them grope [in] darkness, and [let there be] no light, and let them wander as a drunken man.
