1. അതിന്നു ഇയ്യോബ് ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞതെന്തെന്നാല്

1. Then Job answered:

2. എന്റെ വാക്കു ശ്രദ്ധയോടെ കേള്പ്പിന് ; അതു നിങ്ങള്ക്കു ആശ്വാസമായിരിക്കട്ടെ.

2. 'Listen carefully to my words, and let this be the way you comfort me.

3. നില്പിന് , ഞാനും സംസാരിക്കട്ടെ; ഞാന് സംസാരിച്ചു കഴിഞ്ഞിട്ടു നിനക്കു പരിഹസിക്കാം.

3. Be patient while I speak. After I have finished, you may continue to make fun of me.

4. ഞാന് സങ്കടം പറയുന്നതു മനുഷ്യനോടോ? എന്റെ ക്ഷമ അറ്റുപോകാതിരിക്കുന്നതെങ്ങനെ?

4. My complaint is not just against people; I have reason to be impatient.

5. എന്നെ നോക്കി ഭ്രമിച്ചുപോകുവിന് ; കൈകൊണ്ടു വായ്പൊത്തിക്കൊള്വിന് .

5. Look at me and be shocked; put your hand over your mouth in shock.

6. ഔര്ക്കുംമ്പോള് ഞാന് ഞെട്ടിപ്പോകുന്നു; എന്റെ ദേഹത്തിന്നു വിറയല് പിടിക്കുന്നു.

6. When I think about this, I am terribly afraid and my body shakes.

7. ദുഷ്ടന്മാര് ജീവിച്ചിരുന്നു വാര്ദ്ധക്യം പ്രാപിക്കയും അവര്ക്കും ബലം വര്ദ്ധിക്കയും ചെയ്യുന്നതു എന്തു?

7. Why do evil people live a long time? They grow old and become more powerful.

8. അവരുടെ സന്താനം അവരോടുകൂടെ അവരുടെ മുമ്പിലും അവരുടെ വംശം അവര് കാണ്കെയും ഉറെച്ചു നിലക്കുന്നു.

8. They see their children around them; they watch them grow up.

9. അവരുടെ വീടുകള് ഭയം കൂടാതെ സുഖമായിരിക്കുന്നു; ദൈവത്തിന്റെ വടി അവരുടെമേല് വരുന്നതുമില്ല.

9. Their homes are safe and without fear; God does not punish them.

10. അവരുടെ കാള ഇണചേരുന്നു, നിഷ്ഫലമാകുന്നില്ല; അവരുടെ പശു കിടാവിടുന്നു കരു അഴിയുന്നതുമില്ല.

10. Their bulls never fail to mate; their cows have healthy calves.

11. അവര് കുഞ്ഞുങ്ങളെ ആട്ടിന് കൂട്ടത്തെപ്പോലെ പുറത്തയക്കുന്നു; അവരുടെ പൈതങ്ങള് നൃത്തം ചെയ്യുന്നു.

11. They send out their children like a flock; their little ones dance about.

12. അവര് തപ്പോടും കിന്നരത്തോടുംകൂടെ പാടുന്നു; കുഴലിന്റെ നാദത്തിങ്കല് സന്തോഷിക്കുന്നു.

12. They sing to the music of tambourines and harps, and the sound of the flute makes them happy.

13. അവര് സുഖമായി നാള് കഴിക്കുന്നു; മാത്രകൊണ്ടു പാതാളത്തിലേക്കു ഇറങ്ങുന്നു.

13. Evil people enjoy successful lives and then go peacefully to the grave.

14. അവര് ദൈവത്തോടുഞങ്ങളെ വിട്ടുപോക; നിന്റെ വഴികളെ അറിവാന് ഞങ്ങള് ആഗ്രഹിക്കുന്നില്ല;

14. They say to God, 'Leave us alone! We don't want to know your ways.

15. ഞങ്ങള് സര്വ്വശക്തനെ സേവിപ്പാന് അവന് ആര്? അവനോടു പ്രാര്ത്ഥിച്ചാല് എന്തു പ്രയോജനം എന്നു പറയുന്നു.

15. Who is the Almighty that we should serve him? What would we gain by praying to him?'

16. എന്നാല് അവരുടെ ഭാഗ്യം അവര്ക്കും കൈവശമല്ല; ദുഷ്ടന്മാരുടെ ആലോചന എന്നോടു അകന്നിരിക്കുന്നു.

16. The success of the wicked is not their own doing. Their way of thinking is different from mine.

17. ദുഷ്ടന്മാരുടെ വിളകൂ കെട്ടുപോകുന്നതും അവര്ക്കും ആപത്തു വരുന്നതും ദൈവം കോപത്തില് കഷ്ടങ്ങളെ വിഭാഗിച്ചു കൊടുക്കുന്നതും എത്ര പ്രാവശ്യം!

17. Yet how often are the lamps of evil people turned off? How often does trouble come to them?

18. അവര് കാറ്റിന്നു മുമ്പില് താളടിപോലെയും കൊടുങ്കാറ്റു പറപ്പിക്കുന്ന പതിര്പോലെയും ആകുന്നു.

18. How often are they like straw in the wind or like chaff that is blown away by a storm?

19. ദൈവം അവന്റെ അകൃത്യം അവന്റെ മക്കള്ക്കായി സംഗ്രഹിച്ചുവെക്കുന്നു; അവന് അതു അനുഭവിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു അവന്നു തന്നേ പകരം കൊടുക്കട്ടെ.

19. It is said, 'God saves up a person's punishment for his children.' But God should punish the wicked themselves so they will know it.

20. അവന്റെ സ്വന്ത കണ്ണു അവന്റെ നാശം കാണട്ടെ; അവന് തന്നേ സര്വ്വശക്തന്റെ ക്രോധം കുടിക്കട്ടെ;

20. Their eyes should see their own destruction, and they should suffer the anger of the Almighty.

21. അവന്റെ മാസങ്ങളുടെ സംഖ്യ അറ്റുപോയാല് തന്റെശേഷം തന്റെ ഭവനത്തോടു അവനെന്തു താല്പര്യം?

21. They do not care about the families they leave behind when their lives have come to an end.

22. ആരെങ്കിലും ദൈവത്തിന്നു ബുദ്ധിയുപദേശിക്കുമോ? അവന് ഉന്നതന്മാരെ ന്യായം വിധിക്കുന്നുവല്ലോ.

22. 'No one can teach knowledge to God; he is the one who judges even the most important people.

23. ഒരുത്തന് കേവലം സ്വൈരവും സ്വസ്ഥതയുമുള്ളവനായി തന്റെ പൂര്ണ്ണക്ഷേമത്തില് മരിക്കുന്നു.

23. One person dies while he still has all his strength, feeling completely safe and comfortable.

24. അവന്റെ തൊട്ടികള് പാലുകൊണ്ടു നിറഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു; അവന്റെ അസ്ഥികളിലെ മജ്ജ അയഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു.

24. His body was well fed, and his bones were strong and healthy.

25. മറ്റൊരുത്തന് മനോവ്യസനത്തോടെ മരിക്കുന്നു; നന്മയൊന്നും അനുഭവിപ്പാന് ഇടവരുന്നതുമില്ല.

25. But another person dies with an unhappy heart, never enjoying any happiness.

26. അവര് ഒരുപോലെ പൊടിയില് കിടക്കുന്നു; കൃമി അവരെ മൂടുന്നു.

26. They are buried next to each other, and worms cover them both.

27. ഞാന് നിങ്ങളുടെ വിചാരങ്ങളെയും നിങ്ങള് എന്റെ നേരെ നിരൂപിക്കുന്ന ഉപായങ്ങളെയും അറിയുന്നു.

27. 'I know very well your thoughts and your plans to wrong me.

28. പ്രഭുവിന്റെ ഭവനം എവിടെ? ദുഷ്ടന്മാര് പാര്ത്ത കൂടാരം എവിടെ എന്നല്ലോ നിങ്ങള് പറയുന്നതു?

28. You ask about me, 'Where is this great man's house? Where are the tents where the wicked live?'

29. വഴിപോക്കരോടു നിങ്ങള് ചോദിച്ചിട്ടില്ലയോ? അവരുടെ അടയാളങ്ങളെ അറിയുന്നില്ലയോ?

29. Have you never asked those who travel? Have you never listened to their stories?

30. അനര്ത്ഥദിവസത്തില് ദുഷ്ടന് ഒഴിഞ്ഞുപോകുന്നു; ക്രോധദിവസത്തില് അവര്ക്കും വിടുതല് കിട്ടുന്നു.

30. On the day of God's anger and punishment, it is the wicked who are spared.

31. അവന്റെ നടപ്പിനെക്കുറിച്ചു ആര് അവന്റെ മുഖത്തു നോക്കി പറയും? അവന് ചെയ്തതിന്നു തക്കവണ്ണം ആര് അവന്നു പകരം വീട്ടും?

31. Who will accuse them to their faces? Who will pay them back for the evil they have done?

32. എന്നാലും അവനെ ശ്മശാനത്തിലേക്കു കൊണ്ടുപോകുന്നു; അവന് കല്ലറെക്കല് കാവല്നിലക്കുന്നു.

32. They are carried to their graves, and someone keeps watch over their tombs.

33. താഴ്വരയിലെ കട്ട അവന്നു മധുരമായിരിക്കും; അവന്റെ പിന്നാലെ സകലമനുഷ്യരും ചെല്ലും; അവന്നു മുമ്പെ പോയവര്ക്കും എണ്ണമില്ല.

33. The dirt in the valley seems sweet to them. Everybody follows after them, and many people go before them.

34. നിങ്ങള് വൃഥാ എന്നെ ആശ്വസിപ്പിക്കുന്നതു എങ്ങനെ? നിങ്ങളുടെ ഉത്തരങ്ങളില് കപടം ഉണ്ടല്ലോ.

34. 'So how can you comfort me with this nonsense? Your answers are only lies!'
