1. അതിന്നു ഇയ്യോബ് ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞതെന്തെന്നാല്

1. Then Job answered, and said:

2. എന്റെ വാക്കു ശ്രദ്ധയോടെ കേള്പ്പിന് ; അതു നിങ്ങള്ക്കു ആശ്വാസമായിരിക്കട്ടെ.

2. Hear, I beseech you, my words, and do penance.

3. നില്പിന് , ഞാനും സംസാരിക്കട്ടെ; ഞാന് സംസാരിച്ചു കഴിഞ്ഞിട്ടു നിനക്കു പരിഹസിക്കാം.

3. Suffer me, and I will speak, and after, if you please, laugh at my words.

4. ഞാന് സങ്കടം പറയുന്നതു മനുഷ്യനോടോ? എന്റെ ക്ഷമ അറ്റുപോകാതിരിക്കുന്നതെങ്ങനെ?

4. Is my debate against man, that I should not have just reason to be troubled?

5. എന്നെ നോക്കി ഭ്രമിച്ചുപോകുവിന് ; കൈകൊണ്ടു വായ്പൊത്തിക്കൊള്വിന് .

5. Hearken to me and be astonished, and lay your finger on your mouth.

6. ഔര്ക്കുംമ്പോള് ഞാന് ഞെട്ടിപ്പോകുന്നു; എന്റെ ദേഹത്തിന്നു വിറയല് പിടിക്കുന്നു.

6. As for me, when I remember, I am afraid, and trembling taketh hold on my flesh.

7. ദുഷ്ടന്മാര് ജീവിച്ചിരുന്നു വാര്ദ്ധക്യം പ്രാപിക്കയും അവര്ക്കും ബലം വര്ദ്ധിക്കയും ചെയ്യുന്നതു എന്തു?

7. Why then do the wicked live, are they advanced, and strengthened with riches?

8. അവരുടെ സന്താനം അവരോടുകൂടെ അവരുടെ മുമ്പിലും അവരുടെ വംശം അവര് കാണ്കെയും ഉറെച്ചു നിലക്കുന്നു.

8. Their seed continueth before them, a multitude of kinsmen, and of children's children in their sight.

9. അവരുടെ വീടുകള് ഭയം കൂടാതെ സുഖമായിരിക്കുന്നു; ദൈവത്തിന്റെ വടി അവരുടെമേല് വരുന്നതുമില്ല.

9. Their houses are secure and peaceable, and the rod of God is not upon them.

10. അവരുടെ കാള ഇണചേരുന്നു, നിഷ്ഫലമാകുന്നില്ല; അവരുടെ പശു കിടാവിടുന്നു കരു അഴിയുന്നതുമില്ല.

10. Their cattle have conceived, and failed not: their cow has calved, and is not deprived of her fruit.

11. അവര് കുഞ്ഞുങ്ങളെ ആട്ടിന് കൂട്ടത്തെപ്പോലെ പുറത്തയക്കുന്നു; അവരുടെ പൈതങ്ങള് നൃത്തം ചെയ്യുന്നു.

11. Their little ones go out like a flock, and their children dance and play.

12. അവര് തപ്പോടും കിന്നരത്തോടുംകൂടെ പാടുന്നു; കുഴലിന്റെ നാദത്തിങ്കല് സന്തോഷിക്കുന്നു.

12. They take the timbrel, and the harp, and rejoice at the sound of the organ.

13. അവര് സുഖമായി നാള് കഴിക്കുന്നു; മാത്രകൊണ്ടു പാതാളത്തിലേക്കു ഇറങ്ങുന്നു.

13. They spend their days in wealth, and in a moment they go down to hell.

14. അവര് ദൈവത്തോടുഞങ്ങളെ വിട്ടുപോക; നിന്റെ വഴികളെ അറിവാന് ഞങ്ങള് ആഗ്രഹിക്കുന്നില്ല;

14. Who have said to God: Depart from us, we desire not the knowledge of thy ways.

15. ഞങ്ങള് സര്വ്വശക്തനെ സേവിപ്പാന് അവന് ആര്? അവനോടു പ്രാര്ത്ഥിച്ചാല് എന്തു പ്രയോജനം എന്നു പറയുന്നു.

15. Who is the Almighty, that we should serve him? and what doth it profit us if we pray to him?

16. എന്നാല് അവരുടെ ഭാഗ്യം അവര്ക്കും കൈവശമല്ല; ദുഷ്ടന്മാരുടെ ആലോചന എന്നോടു അകന്നിരിക്കുന്നു.

16. Yet because their good things are not in their hand, may the counsel of the wicked be far from me.

17. ദുഷ്ടന്മാരുടെ വിളകൂ കെട്ടുപോകുന്നതും അവര്ക്കും ആപത്തു വരുന്നതും ദൈവം കോപത്തില് കഷ്ടങ്ങളെ വിഭാഗിച്ചു കൊടുക്കുന്നതും എത്ര പ്രാവശ്യം!

17. How often shall the lamp of the wicked be put out, and a deluge come upon them, and he shall distribute the sorrows of his wrath?

18. അവര് കാറ്റിന്നു മുമ്പില് താളടിപോലെയും കൊടുങ്കാറ്റു പറപ്പിക്കുന്ന പതിര്പോലെയും ആകുന്നു.

18. They shall be as chaff before the face of the wind, and as ashes which the whirlwind scattereth.

19. ദൈവം അവന്റെ അകൃത്യം അവന്റെ മക്കള്ക്കായി സംഗ്രഹിച്ചുവെക്കുന്നു; അവന് അതു അനുഭവിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു അവന്നു തന്നേ പകരം കൊടുക്കട്ടെ.

19. God shall lay up the sorrow of the father for his children: and when he shall repay, then shall he know.

20. അവന്റെ സ്വന്ത കണ്ണു അവന്റെ നാശം കാണട്ടെ; അവന് തന്നേ സര്വ്വശക്തന്റെ ക്രോധം കുടിക്കട്ടെ;

20. His eyes shall see his own destruction, and he shall drink of the wrath of the Almighty.

21. അവന്റെ മാസങ്ങളുടെ സംഖ്യ അറ്റുപോയാല് തന്റെശേഷം തന്റെ ഭവനത്തോടു അവനെന്തു താല്പര്യം?

21. For what is it to him what befalleth his house after him: and if the number of his months be diminished by one half?

22. ആരെങ്കിലും ദൈവത്തിന്നു ബുദ്ധിയുപദേശിക്കുമോ? അവന് ഉന്നതന്മാരെ ന്യായം വിധിക്കുന്നുവല്ലോ.

22. Shall any one teach God knowledge, who judgeth those that are high?

23. ഒരുത്തന് കേവലം സ്വൈരവും സ്വസ്ഥതയുമുള്ളവനായി തന്റെ പൂര്ണ്ണക്ഷേമത്തില് മരിക്കുന്നു.

23. One man dieth strong, and hale, rich and happy.

24. അവന്റെ തൊട്ടികള് പാലുകൊണ്ടു നിറഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു; അവന്റെ അസ്ഥികളിലെ മജ്ജ അയഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു.

24. His bowels are full of fat, and his bones are moistened with marrow.

25. മറ്റൊരുത്തന് മനോവ്യസനത്തോടെ മരിക്കുന്നു; നന്മയൊന്നും അനുഭവിപ്പാന് ഇടവരുന്നതുമില്ല.

25. But another dieth in bitterness of soul without any riches:

26. അവര് ഒരുപോലെ പൊടിയില് കിടക്കുന്നു; കൃമി അവരെ മൂടുന്നു.

26. And yet they shall sleep together in the dust, and worms shall cover them.

27. ഞാന് നിങ്ങളുടെ വിചാരങ്ങളെയും നിങ്ങള് എന്റെ നേരെ നിരൂപിക്കുന്ന ഉപായങ്ങളെയും അറിയുന്നു.

27. Surely I know your thoughts, and your unjust judgments against me.

28. പ്രഭുവിന്റെ ഭവനം എവിടെ? ദുഷ്ടന്മാര് പാര്ത്ത കൂടാരം എവിടെ എന്നല്ലോ നിങ്ങള് പറയുന്നതു?

28. For you say: Where is the house of the prince? and where are the dwelling places of the wicked?

29. വഴിപോക്കരോടു നിങ്ങള് ചോദിച്ചിട്ടില്ലയോ? അവരുടെ അടയാളങ്ങളെ അറിയുന്നില്ലയോ?

29. Ask any one of them that go by the way, and you shall perceive that he knoweth these same things.

30. അനര്ത്ഥദിവസത്തില് ദുഷ്ടന് ഒഴിഞ്ഞുപോകുന്നു; ക്രോധദിവസത്തില് അവര്ക്കും വിടുതല് കിട്ടുന്നു.

30. Because the wicked man is reserved to the day of destruction, and he shall be brought to the day of wrath.

31. അവന്റെ നടപ്പിനെക്കുറിച്ചു ആര് അവന്റെ മുഖത്തു നോക്കി പറയും? അവന് ചെയ്തതിന്നു തക്കവണ്ണം ആര് അവന്നു പകരം വീട്ടും?

31. Who shall reprove his way to his face? and who shall repay him what he hath done?

32. എന്നാലും അവനെ ശ്മശാനത്തിലേക്കു കൊണ്ടുപോകുന്നു; അവന് കല്ലറെക്കല് കാവല്നിലക്കുന്നു.

32. He shall be brought to the graves, and shall watch in the heap of the dead.

33. താഴ്വരയിലെ കട്ട അവന്നു മധുരമായിരിക്കും; അവന്റെ പിന്നാലെ സകലമനുഷ്യരും ചെല്ലും; അവന്നു മുമ്പെ പോയവര്ക്കും എണ്ണമില്ല.

33. He hath been acceptable to the gravel of Cocytus, and he shall draw every man after him, and there are innumerable before him.

34. നിങ്ങള് വൃഥാ എന്നെ ആശ്വസിപ്പിക്കുന്നതു എങ്ങനെ? നിങ്ങളുടെ ഉത്തരങ്ങളില് കപടം ഉണ്ടല്ലോ.

34. How then do ye comfort me in vain, whereas your answer is shewn to be repugnant to truth?
