1. യഹോവേ, നീ ദൂരത്തു നില്ക്കുന്നതെന്തു? കഷ്ടകാലത്തു നീ മറഞ്ഞുകളയുന്നതുമെന്തു?

1. Why do thou stand afar off, O LORD? Why do thou hide thyself in times of trouble?

2. ദുഷ്ടന്റെ അഹങ്കാരത്താല് എളിയവന് തപിക്കുന്നു; അവര് നിരൂപിച്ച ഉപായങ്ങളില് അവര് തന്നേ പിടിപെടട്ടെ.

2. In the pride of the wicked man the poor man is hotly pursued. Let them be taken in the devices that they have conceived.

3. ദുഷ്ടന് തന്റെ മനോരഥത്തില് പ്രശംസിക്കുന്നു; ദുരാഗ്രഹി യഹോവയെ ത്യജിച്ചു നിന്ദിക്കുന്നു.

3. For the wicked man boasts of his heart's desire. And the greedy man renounces, yea, despises LORD.

4. ദുഷ്ടന് ഉന്നതഭാവത്തോടെഅവന് ചോദിക്കയില്ല എന്നു പറയുന്നു; ദൈവം ഇല്ല എന്നാകുന്നു അവന്റെ നിരൂപണം ഒക്കെയും.

4. The wicked man, in the pride of his countenance, says, He will not require it. All his thoughts are, There is no God.

5. അവന്റെ വഴികള് എല്ലായ്പോഴും സഫലമാകുന്നു; നിന്റെ ന്യായവിധികള് അവന് കാണാതവണ്ണം ഉയരമുള്ളവ; തന്റെ സകലശത്രുക്കളോടും അവന് ചീറുന്നു.

5. His ways are profane at all times. Thy judgments are far above out of his sight. As for all his adversaries, he puffs at them.

6. ഞാന് കുലുങ്ങുകയില്ല, ഒരുനാളും അനര്ത്ഥത്തില് വീഴുകയുമില്ല എന്നു അവന് തന്റെ ഹൃദയത്തില് പറയുന്നു.

6. He says in his heart, I shall not be moved. To all generations I shall not be in adversity.

7. അവന്റെ വായില് ശാപവും വ്യാജവും സാഹസവും നിറഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു; അവന്റെ നാവിന് കീഴില് ദോഷവും അതിക്രമവും ഇരിക്കുന്നു.

7. His mouth is full of cursing and deceit and oppression. Under his tongue is mischief and iniquity.

8. അവന് ഗ്രാമങ്ങളുടെ ഒളിവുകളില് പതിയിരിക്കുന്നു; മറവിടങ്ങളില്വെച്ചു അവന് കുറ്റമില്ലാത്തവനെ കൊല്ലുന്നു; അവന് രഹസ്യമായി അഗതിയുടെമേല് കണ്ണു വെച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.

8. He sits in the lurking-places of the villages. In the covert places he murders the innocent man. His eyes are secretly set against the poor man.

9. സിംഹം മുറ്റുകാട്ടില് എന്നപോലെ അവന് മറവിടത്തില് പതുങ്ങുന്നു; എളിയവനെ പിടിപ്പാന് അവന് പതിയിരിക്കുന്നു; എളിയവനെ തന്റെ വലയില് ചാടിച്ചു പിടിക്കുന്നു.

9. He lurks in secret as a lion in his covert. He lays in wait to catch the poor man. He catches the poor man when he draws him in his net.

10. അവന് കുനിഞ്ഞു പതുങ്ങിക്കിടക്കുന്നു; അഗതികള് അവന്റെ ബലത്താല് വീണു പോകുന്നു.

10. He crouches, he bows down, and helpless men fall by his strong men.

11. ദൈവം മറന്നിരിക്കുന്നു, അവന് തന്റെ മുഖം മറെച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു; അവന് ഒരുനാളും കാണുകയില്ല എന്നു അവന് ഹൃദയത്തില് പറയുന്നു.

11. He says in his heart, God has forgotten. He hides his face. He will never see it.

12. യഹോവേ, എഴുന്നേല്ക്കേണമേ, ദൈവമേ, തൃക്കൈ ഉയര്ത്തേണമേ; എളിയവരെ മറക്കരുതേ.

12. Arise, O LORD, O God, lift up thy hand. Do not forget the poor.

13. ദുഷ്ടന് ദൈവത്തെ നിന്ദിക്കുന്നതും നീ ചോദിക്കയില്ല എന്നു തന്റെ ഉള്ളില് പറയുന്നതും എന്തിന്നു?

13. Why does the wicked man despise God, and say in his heart, Thou will not require it?

14. നീ അതു കണ്ടിരിക്കുന്നു, തൃക്കൈകൊണ്ടു പകരം ചെയ്വാന് ദോഷത്തെയും പകയെയും നീ നോക്കിക്കണ്ടിരിക്കുന്നു; അഗതി തന്നെത്താന് നിങ്കല് ഏല്പിക്കുന്നു; അനാഥന്നു നീ സഹായി ആകുന്നു.

14. Thou have seen. For thou behold mischief and spite, to repay with thy hand. The poor man commits himself to thee. Thou have been the helper of the fatherless.

15. ദുഷ്ടന്റെ ഭുജത്തെ നീ ഒടിക്കേണമേ; ദോഷിയുടെ ദുഷ്ടത ഇല്ലാതെയാകുവോളം അതിന്നു പ്രതികാരം ചെയ്യേണമേ.

15. Break thou the arm of the sinner and the evil man. His wickedness shall be sought, and shall not be found.

16. യഹോവ എന്നെന്നേക്കും രാജാവാകുന്നു; ജാതികള് അവന്റെ ദേശത്തുനിന്നു നശിച്ചു പോയിരിക്കുന്നു.

16. LORD is King forever and ever. The nations have perished out of his land.

17. ഭൂമിയില്നിന്നുള്ള മര്ത്യന് ഇനി ഭയപ്പെടുത്താതിരിപ്പാന് നീ അനാഥന്നും പീഡിതന്നും ന്യായപാലനം ചെയ്യേണ്ടതിന്നു

17. LORD, thou have heard the desire of the humble. Thou will prepare their heart, thou will cause thine ear to hear,

18. യഹോവേ, നീ സാധുക്കളുടെ അപേക്ഷ കേട്ടിരിക്കുന്നു; അവരുടെ ഹൃദയത്തെ നീ ഉറപ്പിക്കയും നിന്റെ ചെവി ചായിച്ചു കേള്ക്കയും ചെയ്യുന്നു.

18. to judge the fatherless and the oppressed, that man who is of the earth may no more be appalling.
