1. മൃദുവായ ഉത്തരം ക്രോധത്തെ ശമിപ്പിക്കുന്നു; കഠിനവാക്കോ കോപത്തെ ജ്വലിപ്പിക്കുന്നു.

2. ജ്ഞാനിയുടെ നാവു നല്ല പരിജ്ഞാനം പ്രസ്താവിക്കുന്നു. മൂഢന്മാരുടെ വായോ ഭോഷത്വം പൊഴിക്കുന്നു.

2. The tongue of the wise adorns knowledge, but the mouth of the fool gushes folly.

3. യഹോവയുടെ കണ്ണു എല്ലാടവും ഉണ്ടു; ആകാത്തവരെയും നല്ലവരെയും നോക്കിക്കൊണ്ടിരിക്കുന്നു.

3. The eyes of the LORD are everywhere, keeping watch on the wicked and the good.

4. നാവിന്റെ ശാന്തത ജീവവൃക്ഷം; അതിന്റെ വക്രതയോ മനോവ്യസനം.

4. The soothing tongue is a tree of life, but a perverse tongue crushes the spirit.

6. നീതിമാന്റെ വീട്ടില് വളരെ നിക്ഷേപം ഉണ്ടു; ദുഷ്ടന്റെ ആദായത്തിലോ അനര്ത്ഥം.

6. The house of the righteous contains great treasure, but the income of the wicked brings ruin.

7. ജ്ഞാനികളുടെ അധരങ്ങള് പരിജ്ഞാനം വിതറുന്നു; മൂഢന്മാരുടെ ഹൃദയമോ നേരുള്ളതല്ല.

7. The lips of the wise spread knowledge, but the hearts of fools are not upright.

8. ദുഷ്ടന്മാരുടെ യാഗം യഹോവേക്കു വെറുപ്പു; നേരുള്ളവരുടെ പ്രാര്ത്ഥനയോ അവന്നു പ്രസാദം.

8. The LORD detests the sacrifice of the wicked, but the prayer of the upright pleases him.

9. ദുഷ്ടന്മാരുടെ വഴി യഹോവേക്കു വെറുപ്പു; എന്നാല് നീതിയെ പിന്തുടരുന്നവനെ അവന് സ്നേഹിക്കുന്നു.

9. The LORD detests the way of the wicked, but he loves those who pursue righteousness.

10. സന്മാര്ഗ്ഗം ത്യജിക്കുന്നവന്നു കഠിനശിക്ഷ വരും; ശാസന വെറുക്കുന്നവന് മരിക്കും.

10. Stern discipline awaits those who leave the path; those who hate correction will die.

11. പാതാളവും നരകവും യഹോവയുടെ ദൃഷ്ടിയില് ഇരിക്കുന്നു; മനുഷ്യപുത്രന്മാരുടെ ഹൃദയങ്ങള് എത്ര അധികം!

11. Death and Destruction lie open before the LORD how much more do human hearts!

12. പരിഹാസി ശാസന ഇഷ്ടപ്പെടുന്നില്ല; ജ്ഞാനികളുടെ അടുക്കല് ചെല്ലുന്നതുമില്ല.

12. Mockers resent correction, so they avoid the wise.

13. സന്തോഷമുള്ള ഹൃദയം മുഖപ്രസാദമുണ്ടാക്കുന്നു; ഹൃദയത്തിലെ വ്യസനംകൊണ്ടോ ധൈര്യം ക്ഷയിക്കുന്നു.

13. A happy heart makes the face cheerful, but heartache crushes the spirit.

14. വിവേകമുള്ളവന്റെ ഹൃദയം പരിജ്ഞാനം അന്വേഷിക്കുന്നു; മൂഢന്മാരുടെ വായോ ഭോഷത്വം ആചരിക്കുന്നു.

14. The discerning heart seeks knowledge, but the mouth of a fool feeds on folly.

15. അരിഷ്ടന്റെ ജീവനാള് ഒക്കെയും കഷ്ടകാലം; സന്തുഷ്ടഹൃദയന്നോ നിത്യം ഉത്സവം.

15. All the days of the oppressed are wretched, but the cheerful heart has a continual feast.

16. ബഹു നിക്ഷേപവും അതിനോടുകൂടെ കഷ്ടതയും ഉള്ളതിനെക്കാള് യഹോവാഭക്തിയോടുകൂടെ അല്പധനം ഉള്ളതു നന്നു.

16. Better a little with the fear of the LORD than great wealth with turmoil.

17. ദ്വേഷമുള്ളെടത്തെ തടിപ്പിച്ച കാളയെക്കാള് സ്നേഹമുള്ളെടത്തെ ശാകഭോജനം നല്ലതു.

17. Better a small serving of vegetables with love than a fattened calf with hatred.

18. ക്രോധമുള്ള കലഹം ഉണ്ടാക്കുന്നു; ദീര്ഘക്ഷമയുള്ളവനോ കലഹം ശമിപ്പിക്കുന്നു.

18. The hot-tempered stir up dissension, but those who are patient calm a quarrel.

19. മടിയന്റെ വഴി മുള്ളുവേലിപോലെയാകുന്നു; നീതിമാന്മാരുടെ പാതയോ പെരുവഴി തന്നേ.

19. The way of the sluggard is blocked with thorns, but the path of the upright is a highway.

20. ജ്ഞാനമുള്ള മകന് അപ്പനെ സന്തോഷിപ്പിക്കുന്നു; മൂഢനോ അമ്മയെ നിന്ദിക്കുന്നു.

20. Wise children bring joy to their father, but foolish children despise their mother.

21. ഭോഷത്വം ബുദ്ധിഹീനന്നു സന്തോഷം; വിവേകിയോ ചൊവ്വായി നടക്കുന്നു.

21. Folly brings joy to those who have no sense, but those who have understanding keep a straight course.

22. ആലോചന ഇല്ലാഞ്ഞാല് ഉദ്ദേശങ്ങള് സാധിക്കാതെ പോകുന്നു; ആലോചനക്കാരുടെ ബഹുത്വത്താലോ അവ സാധിക്കുന്നു.

22. Plans fail for lack of counsel, but with many advisers they succeed.

23. താന് പറയുന്ന ഉത്തരം ഹേതുവായി മനുഷ്യന്നു സന്തോഷം വരും; തക്കസമയത്തു പറയുന്ന വാക്കു എത്ര മനോഹരം!

23. A person finds joy in giving an apt reply and how good is a timely word!

24. ബുദ്ധിമാന്റെ ജീവയാത്ര മേലോട്ടാകുന്നു; കീഴെയുള്ള പാതാളത്തെ അവന് ഒഴിഞ്ഞുപോകും.

24. The path of life leads upward for the prudent to keep them from going down to the realm of the dead.

25. അഹങ്കാരിയുടെ വീടു യഹോവ പൊളിച്ചുകളയും; വിധവയുടെ അതിരോ അവന് ഉറപ്പിക്കും.

25. The LORD tears down the house of the proud, but he sets the widow's boundary stones in place.

26. ദുരുപായങ്ങള് യഹോവേക്കു വെറുപ്പു; ദയാവാക്കോ നിര്മ്മലം.

26. The LORD detests the thoughts of the wicked, but gracious words are pure in his sight.

27. ദുരാഗ്രഹി തന്റെ ഭവനത്തെ വലെക്കുന്നു; കോഴ വെറുക്കുന്നവനോ ജീവിച്ചിരിക്കും.

27. The greedy bring ruin to their housholds, but those who hate bribes will live.

28. നീതിമാന് മനസ്സില് ആലോചിച്ചു ഉത്തരം പറയുന്നു; ദുഷ്ടന്മാരുടെ വായോ ദോഷങ്ങളെ പൊഴിക്കുന്നു.

28. The heart of the righteous weighs its answers, but the mouth of the wicked gushes evil.

29. യഹോവ ദുഷ്ടന്മാരോടു അകന്നിരിക്കുന്നു; നീതിമാന്മാരുടെ പ്രാര്ത്ഥനയോ അവന് കേള്ക്കുന്നു.

33. Wisdom's instruction is to fear the LORD, and humility comes before honor.
