1. കൂട്ടംവിട്ടു നടക്കുന്നവന് സ്വേച്ഛയെ അന്വേഷിക്കുന്നു; സകലജ്ഞാനത്തോടും അവന് കയര്ക്കുംന്നു.

1. He who desires to separate himself seeks excuses, and rages against all sound wisdom.

2. തന്റെ മനസ്സു വെളിപ്പെടുത്തുന്നതില് അല്ലാതെ മൂഢന്നു ബോധത്തില് ഇഷ്ടമില്ല.

2. A fool has no delight in understanding, but only that his heart may reveal itself.

3. ദുഷ്ടനോടുകൂടെ അപമാനവും ദുഷ്കീര്ത്തിയോടുകൂടെ നിന്ദയും വരുന്നു.

3. When a wicked man comes, contempt also comes, and with disgrace, reproach.

4. മനുഷ്യന്റെ വായിലെ വാക്കു ആഴമുള്ള വെള്ളവും ജ്ഞാനത്തിന്റെ ഉറവു ഒഴുകൂള്ള തോടും ആകുന്നു.

4. The words of a man's mouth are deep waters. The wellspring of wisdom is a flowing brook.

5. നീതിമാനെ ന്യായവിസ്താരത്തില് തോല്പിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു ദുഷ്ടന്റെ പക്ഷം പിടിക്കുന്നതു നന്നല്ല.

5. To respect the person of a wicked man is not good, nor to turn aside a righteous man in judgment.

6. മൂഢന്റെ അധരങ്ങള് വഴക്കിന്നു ഇടയാക്കുന്നു; അവന്റെ വായ് തല്ലു വിളിച്ചുവരുത്തുന്നു.

6. A fool's lips enter into contention, and his mouth calls for stripes.

7. മൂഢന്റെ വായ് അവന്നു നാശം; അവന്റെ അധരങ്ങള് അവന്റെ പ്രാണന്നു കണി.

7. A fool's mouth is his destruction, and his lips are the snare of his soul.

8. ഏഷണിക്കാരന്റെ വാക്കു സ്വാദുഭോജനംപോലെയിരിക്കുന്നു; അതു വയറ്റിന്റെ അറകളിലേക്കു ചെല്ലുന്നു.

8. The words of a whisperer are as dainty morsels, and they go down into the innermost parts.

9. വേലയില് മടിയനായവന് മുടിയന്റെ സഹോദരന് .

9. He also that is slack in his work is brother to him that is a destroyer.

10. യഹോവയുടെ നാമം ബലമുള്ള ഗോപുരം; നീതിമാന് അതിലേക്കു ഔടിച്ചെന്നു അഭയം പ്രാപിക്കുന്നു.

10. The name of LORD is a strong tower. A righteous man runs into it, and is safe.

11. ധനവാന്നു തന്റെ സമ്പത്തു ഉറപ്പുള്ള പട്ടണം; അതു അവന്നു ഉയര്ന്ന മതില് ആയിത്തോന്നുന്നു.

11. The rich man's wealth is his strong city, and as a high wall in his own imagination.

12. നാശത്തിന്നു മുമ്പെ മനുഷ്യന്റെ ഹൃദയം നിഗളിക്കുന്നു; മാനത്തിന്നു മുമ്പെ താഴ്മ.

12. Before destruction the heart of man is haughty, and before honor is humility.

13. കേള്ക്കുംമുമ്പെ ഉത്തരം പറയുന്നവന്നു അതു ഭോഷത്വവും ലജ്ജയും ആയ്തീരുന്നു.

13. He who gives answer before he hears, it is folly and shame to him.

14. പുരുഷന്റെ ധീരത അവന്റെ ദീനത്തെ സഹിക്കും; തകര്ന്ന മനസ്സിനെയോ ആര്ക്കും സഹിക്കാം?

14. The spirit of a man will sustain his infirmity, but a broken spirit who can bear?

15. ബുദ്ധിമാന്റെ ഹൃദയം പരിജ്ഞാനം സമ്പാദിക്കുന്നു; ജ്ഞാനികളുടെ ചെവി പരിജ്ഞാനം അന്വേഷിക്കുന്നു.

15. The heart of a prudent man gets knowledge, and the ear of the wise seeks knowledge.

16. മനുഷ്യന് വെക്കുന്ന കാഴ്ചയാല് അവന്നു പ്രവേശനം കിട്ടും; അവന് മഹാന്മാരുടെ സന്നിധിയില് ചെല്ലുവാന് ഇടയാകും.

16. A man's gift makes room for him, and brings him before great men.

17. തന്റെ അന്യായം ആദ്യം ബോധിപ്പിക്കുന്നവന് നീതിമാന് എന്നു തോന്നും; എന്നാല് അവന്റെ പ്രതിയോഗി വന്നു അവനെ പരിശോധിക്കും.

17. He who pleads his case first seems just, but his neighbor comes and searches him out.

18. ചീട്ടു തര്ക്കങ്ങളെ തീര്ക്കയും ബലവാന്മാരെ തമ്മില് വേറുപെടുത്തുകയും ചെയ്യുന്നു.

18. The lot causes contentions to cease, and decides between the mighty.

19. ദ്രോഹിക്കപ്പെട്ട സഹോദരന് ഉറപ്പുള്ള പട്ടണത്തെക്കാള് ദുര്ജ്ജയനാകുന്നു; അങ്ങനെയുള്ള പിണക്കം അരമനയുടെ ഔടാമ്പല്പോലെ തന്നേ.

19. A brother offended is harder to be won than a strong city, and such contentions are like the bars of a castle.

20. വായുടെ ഫലത്താല് മനുഷ്യന്റെ ഉദരം നിറയും; അധരങ്ങളുടെ വിളവുകൊണ്ടു അവന്നു തൃപ്തിവരും;

20. A man's belly shall be filled with the fruit of his mouth. With the increase of his lips he shall be satisfied.

21. മരണവും ജീവനും നാവിന്റെ അധികാരത്തില് ഇരിക്കുന്നു; അതില് ഇഷ്ടപ്പെടുന്നവര് അതിന്റെ ഫലം അനുഭവിക്കും.

21. Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it shall eat the fruit of it.

22. ഭാര്യയെ കിട്ടുന്നവന്നു നന്മ കിട്ടുന്നു; യഹോവയോടു പ്രസാദം ലഭിച്ചുമിരിക്കുന്നു.

22. He who finds a wife finds a good thing, and obtains favor from LORD.

23. ദരിദ്രന് യാചനാരീതിയില് സംസാരിക്കുന്നു; ധനവാനോ കഠിനമായി ഉത്തരം പറയുന്നു.

23. A poor man uses entreaties, but a rich man answers roughly.

24. വളരെ സ്നേഹിതന്മാരുള്ള മനുഷ്യന്നു നാശം വരും; എന്നാല് സഹോദരനെക്കാളും പറ്റുള്ള സ്നേഹിതന്മാരും ഉണ്ടു.

24. He who makes many friends does it to his own destruction, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.
