1. കൂട്ടംവിട്ടു നടക്കുന്നവന് സ്വേച്ഛയെ അന്വേഷിക്കുന്നു; സകലജ്ഞാനത്തോടും അവന് കയര്ക്കുംന്നു.

1. Unfriendly people are selfish and hate all good sense.

2. തന്റെ മനസ്സു വെളിപ്പെടുത്തുന്നതില് അല്ലാതെ മൂഢന്നു ബോധത്തില് ഇഷ്ടമില്ല.

2. Fools do not want to understand anything. They only want to tell others what they think.

4. Spoken words can be like deep water, but wisdom is like a flowing stream.

5. നീതിമാനെ ന്യായവിസ്താരത്തില് തോല്പിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു ദുഷ്ടന്റെ പക്ഷം പിടിക്കുന്നതു നന്നല്ല.

6. മൂഢന്റെ അധരങ്ങള് വഴക്കിന്നു ഇടയാക്കുന്നു; അവന്റെ വായ് തല്ലു വിളിച്ചുവരുത്തുന്നു.

7. മൂഢന്റെ വായ് അവന്നു നാശം; അവന്റെ അധരങ്ങള് അവന്റെ പ്രാണന്നു കണി.

7. The words of fools will ruin them; their own words will trap them.

8. ഏഷണിക്കാരന്റെ വാക്കു സ്വാദുഭോജനംപോലെയിരിക്കുന്നു; അതു വയറ്റിന്റെ അറകളിലേക്കു ചെല്ലുന്നു.

11. ധനവാന്നു തന്റെ സമ്പത്തു ഉറപ്പുള്ള പട്ടണം; അതു അവന്നു ഉയര്ന്ന മതില് ആയിത്തോന്നുന്നു.

11. Rich people trust their wealth to protect them. They think it is like the high walls of a city.

14. പുരുഷന്റെ ധീരത അവന്റെ ദീനത്തെ സഹിക്കും; തകര്ന്ന മനസ്സിനെയോ ആര്ക്കും സഹിക്കാം?

14. The will to live can get you through sickness, but no one can live with a broken spirit.

15. ബുദ്ധിമാന്റെ ഹൃദയം പരിജ്ഞാനം സമ്പാദിക്കുന്നു; ജ്ഞാനികളുടെ ചെവി പരിജ്ഞാനം അന്വേഷിക്കുന്നു.

15. The mind of a person with understanding gets knowledge; the wise person listens to learn more.

16. മനുഷ്യന് വെക്കുന്ന കാഴ്ചയാല് അവന്നു പ്രവേശനം കിട്ടും; അവന് മഹാന്മാരുടെ സന്നിധിയില് ചെല്ലുവാന് ഇടയാകും.

17. തന്റെ അന്യായം ആദ്യം ബോധിപ്പിക്കുന്നവന് നീതിമാന് എന്നു തോന്നും; എന്നാല് അവന്റെ പ്രതിയോഗി വന്നു അവനെ പരിശോധിക്കും.

17. The person who tells one side of a story seems right, until someone else comes and asks questions.

18. ചീട്ടു തര്ക്കങ്ങളെ തീര്ക്കയും ബലവാന്മാരെ തമ്മില് വേറുപെടുത്തുകയും ചെയ്യുന്നു.

18. Throwing lots can settle arguments and keep the two sides from fighting.

19. ദ്രോഹിക്കപ്പെട്ട സഹോദരന് ഉറപ്പുള്ള പട്ടണത്തെക്കാള് ദുര്ജ്ജയനാകുന്നു; അങ്ങനെയുള്ള പിണക്കം അരമനയുടെ ഔടാമ്പല്പോലെ തന്നേ.

19. A brother who has been insulted is harder to win back than a walled city, and arguments separate people like the barred gates of a palace.

20. വായുടെ ഫലത്താല് മനുഷ്യന്റെ ഉദരം നിറയും; അധരങ്ങളുടെ വിളവുകൊണ്ടു അവന്നു തൃപ്തിവരും;

20. People will be rewarded for what they say; they will be rewarded by how they speak.

21. മരണവും ജീവനും നാവിന്റെ അധികാരത്തില് ഇരിക്കുന്നു; അതില് ഇഷ്ടപ്പെടുന്നവര് അതിന്റെ ഫലം അനുഭവിക്കും.

21. What you say can mean life or death. Those who speak with care will be rewarded.

22. ഭാര്യയെ കിട്ടുന്നവന്നു നന്മ കിട്ടുന്നു; യഹോവയോടു പ്രസാദം ലഭിച്ചുമിരിക്കുന്നു.

22. When a man finds a wife, he finds something good. It shows that the Lord is pleased with him.

23. ദരിദ്രന് യാചനാരീതിയില് സംസാരിക്കുന്നു; ധനവാനോ കഠിനമായി ഉത്തരം പറയുന്നു.

23. The poor beg for mercy, but the rich give rude answers.

24. വളരെ സ്നേഹിതന്മാരുള്ള മനുഷ്യന്നു നാശം വരും; എന്നാല് സഹോദരനെക്കാളും പറ്റുള്ള സ്നേഹിതന്മാരും ഉണ്ടു.

24. Some friends may ruin you, but a real friend will be more loyal than a brother.
