1. രാജാവിന്റെ ഹൃദയം യഹോവയുടെ കയ്യില് നീര്ത്തോടുകണക്കെ ഇരിക്കുന്നു; തനിക്കു ഇഷ്ടമുള്ളേടത്തേക്കൊക്കെയും അവന് അതിനെ തിരിക്കുന്നു.

1. The king's heart in ADONAI's hand is like streams of water- he directs it wherever he pleases.

2. മനുഷ്യന്റെ വഴി ഒക്കെയും അവന്നു ചൊവ്വായിത്തോന്നുന്നു; യഹോവയോ ഹൃദയങ്ങളെ തൂക്കിനോക്കുന്നു.

2. All a person's ways are right in his own view, but ADONAI weighs the heart.

3. നീതിയും ന്യായവും പ്രവര്ത്തിക്കുന്നതു യഹോവേക്കു ഹനനയാഗത്തെക്കാള് ഇഷ്ടം.

3. To do what is right and just is more pleasing to ADONAI than sacrifice.

4. ഗര്വ്വമുള്ള കണ്ണും അഹങ്കാരഹൃദയവും ദുഷ്ടന്മാരുടെ ദീപവും പാപം തന്നേ.

4. Haughty looks, a proud heart- what the wicked plow is sin.

5. ഉത്സാഹിയുടെ വിചാരങ്ങള് സമൃദ്ധിഹേതുകങ്ങള് ആകുന്നു; ബദ്ധപ്പാടുകാരൊക്കെയും ബുദ്ധിമുട്ടിലേക്കത്രേ ബദ്ധപ്പെടുന്നതു.

5. The plans of the diligent lead only to abundance; but all who rush in arrive only at want.

6. കള്ളനാവുകൊണ്ടു ധനം സമ്പാദിക്കുന്നതു പാറിപ്പോകുന്ന ആവിയാകുന്നു; അതിനെ അന്വേഷിക്കുന്നവര് മരണത്തെ അന്വേഷിക്കുന്നു.

6. A fortune gained by a lying tongue is vapor dispersed [[by]] seekers of death.

7. ദുഷ്ടന്മാരുടെ സാഹസം അവര്ക്കും നാശഹേതുവാകുന്നു; ന്യായം ചെയ്വാന് അവര്ക്കും മനസ്സില്ലല്ലോ.

7. The violence of the wicked will sweep them away, because they refuse to act justly.

8. അകൃത്യഭാരം ചുമക്കുന്നവന്റെ വഴി വളഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു; നിര്മ്മലന്റെ പ്രവൃത്തിയോ ചൊവ്വുള്ളതു തന്നേ.

8. A criminal's conduct is crooked, but the work of the pure is right.

9. ശണ്ഠകൂടുന്ന സ്ത്രീയോടുകൂടെ പൊതുവീട്ടില് പാര്ക്കുംന്നതിനെക്കാള് മേല്പുരയുടെ ഒരു കോണില് പാര്ക്കുംന്നതു നല്ലതു.

9. It is better to live on a corner of the roof than to share the house with a nagging wife.

10. ദുഷ്ടന്റെ മനസ്സു ദോഷത്തെ ആഗ്രഹിക്കുന്നു; അവന്നു കൂട്ടുകാരനോടു ദയ തോന്നുന്നതുമില്ല.

10. The wicked is set on evil; he doesn't pity even his neighbor.

11. പരിഹാസിയെ ശിക്ഷിച്ചാല് അല്പബുദ്ധി ജ്ഞാനിയായ്തീരും; ജ്ഞാനിയെ ഉപദേശിച്ചാല് അവന് പരിജ്ഞാനം പ്രാപിക്കും.

11. When a scorner is punished, the simple become wiser; and when the wise is instructed, he takes hold of knowledge.

12. നീതിമാനായവന് ദുഷ്ടന്റെ ഭവനത്തിന്മേല് ദൃഷ്ടിവെക്കുന്നു; ദുഷ്ടന്മാരെ നാശത്തിലേക്കു മറിച്ചുകളയുന്നു.

12. The Righteous One observes the house of the wicked; he overthrows the wicked to their ruin.

13. എളിയവന്റെ നിലവിളിക്കു ചെവി പൊത്തിക്കളയുന്നവന് താനും വിളിച്ചപേക്ഷിക്കും; ഉത്തരം ലഭിക്കയില്ല.

13. Whoever stops up his ears at the cry of the poor will himself cry, but not be answered.

14. രഹസ്യത്തില് ചെയ്യുന്ന ദാനം കോപത്തെയും മടിയില് കൊണ്ടുവരുന്ന സമ്മാനം ഉഗ്രകോപത്തെയും ശമിപ്പിക്കുന്നു.

14. A secret gift allays anger, and a bribe under the cloak the strongest fury.

15. ന്യായം പ്രവര്ത്തിക്കുന്നതു നീതിമാന്നു സന്തോഷവും ദുഷ്പ്രവൃത്തിക്കാര്ക്കും ഭയങ്കരവും ആകുന്നു.

15. Acting justly is a joy for the righteous but it terrifies evildoers.

16. വിവേകമാര്ഗ്ഗം വിട്ടുനടക്കുന്നവന് മൃതന്മാരുടെ കൂട്ടത്തില് വിശ്രമിക്കും.

16. The person who strays from the way of common sense will come to rest in the company of the dead.

17. ഉല്ലാസപ്രിയന് ദരിദ്രനായ്തീരും; വീഞ്ഞും തൈലവും പ്രിയപ്പെടുന്നവന് ധനവാനാകയില്ല.

17. Pleasure-lovers will suffer want; he who loves wine and oil won't get rich.

18. ദുഷ്ടന് നീതിമാന്നു മറുവിലയാകും; ദ്രോഹി നേരുള്ളവര്ക്കും പകരമായ്തീരും.

18. The wicked serve as a ransom for the righteous, and likewise the perfidious for the upright.

19. ശണ്ഠയും ദുശ്ശീലവുമുള്ള സ്ത്രീയോടുകൂടെ പാര്ക്കുംന്നതിലും നിര്ജ്ജനപ്രദേശത്തു പോയി പാര്ക്കുംന്നതു നല്ലതു.

19. It is better to live in the desert than with a nagging, irritable wife.

20. ജ്ഞാനിയുടെ പാര്പ്പിടത്തില് വിലയേറിയ നിക്ഷേപവും തൈലവും ഉണ്ടു; മൂഢനോ അവയെ ദുര്വ്യയം ചെയ്തുകളയുന്നു.

20. In the home of the wise are fine treasures and oil, but a fool quickly devours it.

21. നീതിയും ദയയും പിന്തുടരുന്നവന് ജീവനും നീതിയും മാനവും കണ്ടെത്തും.

21. He who pursues righteousness and kindness finds life, prosperity and honor.

22. ജ്ഞാനി വീരന്മാരുടെ പട്ടണത്തില് കയറുകയും അതിന്റെ ആശ്രയമായ കോട്ടയെ ഇടിച്ചുകളകയും ചെയ്യുന്നു.

22. A wise man can go up into a city of warriors and undermine the strength in which it trusts.

23. വായും നാവും സൂക്ഷിക്കുന്നവന് തന്റെ പ്രാണനെ കഷ്ടങ്ങളില്നിന്നു സൂക്ഷിക്കുന്നു.

23. Whoever guards his mouth and tongue keeps himself out of trouble.

24. നിഗളവും ഗര്വ്വവും ഉള്ളവന്നു പരിഹാസി എന്നു പേര്; അവന് ഗര്വ്വത്തിന്റെ അഹങ്കാരത്തോടെ പ്രവര്ത്തിക്കുന്നു.

24. Scoffer' is what you call a proud, insolent person who acts with overweening conceit.

25. മടിയന്റെ കൊതി അവന്നു മരണഹേതു; വേലചെയ്വാന് അവന്റെ കൈകള് മടിക്കുന്നുവല്ലോ.

25. A lazy man's craving will kill him, because his hands refuse to work-

26. ചിലര് നിത്യം അത്യാഗ്രഹത്തോടെ ഇരിക്കുന്നു; നീതിമാനോ ലോഭിക്കാതെ കൊടുത്തുകൊണ്ടിരിക്കുന്നു.

26. he covets greedily all day long; but a righteous person gives without holding back.

27. ദുഷ്ടന്മാരുടെ ഹനനയാഗം വെറുപ്പാകുന്നു; അവന് ദുരാന്തരത്തോടെ അതു അര്പ്പിച്ചാല് എത്ര അധികം!

27. The sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination; how much more when he brings it with vile motives.

28. കള്ളസ്സാക്ഷി നശിച്ചുപോകും; ശ്രദ്ധിച്ചുകേള്ക്കുന്നവന്നോ എപ്പോഴും സംസാരിക്കാം.

28. A lying witness is doomed, but one who heard [[what was said]] will testify successfully.

29. ദുഷ്ടന് മുഖധാര്ഷ്ട്യം കാണിക്കുന്നു; നേരുള്ളവനോ തന്റെ വഴി നന്നാക്കുന്നു.

29. A wicked man puts on a bold face, whereas the upright prepares his ways.

30. യഹോവെക്കെതിരെ ജ്ഞാനവുമില്ല, ബുദ്ധിയുമില്ല, ആലോചനയുമില്ല.

30. No wisdom, discernment or counsel succeeds against ADONAI.

31. കുതിരയെ യുദ്ധദിവസത്തേക്കു ചമയിക്കുന്നു; ജയമോ യഹോവയുടെ കൈവശത്തിലിരിക്കുന്നു.

31. A horse may be prepared for the day of battle, but victory comes from ADONAI.
