1. രാജാവിന്റെ ഹൃദയം യഹോവയുടെ കയ്യില് നീര്ത്തോടുകണക്കെ ഇരിക്കുന്നു; തനിക്കു ഇഷ്ടമുള്ളേടത്തേക്കൊക്കെയും അവന് അതിനെ തിരിക്കുന്നു.

1. The king's heart in the hand of Jehovah is [as] brooks of water: he turneth it whithersoever he will.

2. മനുഷ്യന്റെ വഴി ഒക്കെയും അവന്നു ചൊവ്വായിത്തോന്നുന്നു; യഹോവയോ ഹൃദയങ്ങളെ തൂക്കിനോക്കുന്നു.

2. Every way of a man is right in his own eyes; but Jehovah weigheth the hearts.

3. നീതിയും ന്യായവും പ്രവര്ത്തിക്കുന്നതു യഹോവേക്കു ഹനനയാഗത്തെക്കാള് ഇഷ്ടം.

3. To exercise justice and judgment is more acceptable to Jehovah than sacrifice.

4. ഗര്വ്വമുള്ള കണ്ണും അഹങ്കാരഹൃദയവും ദുഷ്ടന്മാരുടെ ദീപവും പാപം തന്നേ.

4. Lofty eyes, and a proud heart, the lamp of the wicked, is sin.

5. ഉത്സാഹിയുടെ വിചാരങ്ങള് സമൃദ്ധിഹേതുകങ്ങള് ആകുന്നു; ബദ്ധപ്പാടുകാരൊക്കെയും ബുദ്ധിമുട്ടിലേക്കത്രേ ബദ്ധപ്പെടുന്നതു.

5. The thoughts of the diligent [tend] only to plenteousness; but of every one that is hasty, only to want.

6. കള്ളനാവുകൊണ്ടു ധനം സമ്പാദിക്കുന്നതു പാറിപ്പോകുന്ന ആവിയാകുന്നു; അതിനെ അന്വേഷിക്കുന്നവര് മരണത്തെ അന്വേഷിക്കുന്നു.

6. The getting of treasures by a lying tongue is a fleeting breath of them that seek death.

7. ദുഷ്ടന്മാരുടെ സാഹസം അവര്ക്കും നാശഹേതുവാകുന്നു; ന്യായം ചെയ്വാന് അവര്ക്കും മനസ്സില്ലല്ലോ.

7. The devastation of the wicked sweepeth them away, because they refuse to do what is right.

8. അകൃത്യഭാരം ചുമക്കുന്നവന്റെ വഴി വളഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു; നിര്മ്മലന്റെ പ്രവൃത്തിയോ ചൊവ്വുള്ളതു തന്നേ.

8. Very crooked is the way of a guilty man; but as for the pure, his work is upright.

9. ശണ്ഠകൂടുന്ന സ്ത്രീയോടുകൂടെ പൊതുവീട്ടില് പാര്ക്കുംന്നതിനെക്കാള് മേല്പുരയുടെ ഒരു കോണില് പാര്ക്കുംന്നതു നല്ലതു.

9. It is better to dwell in a corner of the housetop, than with a contentious woman, and a house in common.

10. ദുഷ്ടന്റെ മനസ്സു ദോഷത്തെ ആഗ്രഹിക്കുന്നു; അവന്നു കൂട്ടുകാരനോടു ദയ തോന്നുന്നതുമില്ല.

10. The soul of the wicked desireth evil: his neighbour findeth no favour in his eyes.

11. പരിഹാസിയെ ശിക്ഷിച്ചാല് അല്പബുദ്ധി ജ്ഞാനിയായ്തീരും; ജ്ഞാനിയെ ഉപദേശിച്ചാല് അവന് പരിജ്ഞാനം പ്രാപിക്കും.

11. When the scorner is punished, the simple becometh wise; and when the wise is instructed, he receiveth knowledge.

12. നീതിമാനായവന് ദുഷ്ടന്റെ ഭവനത്തിന്മേല് ദൃഷ്ടിവെക്കുന്നു; ദുഷ്ടന്മാരെ നാശത്തിലേക്കു മറിച്ചുകളയുന്നു.

12. One that is righteous wisely considereth the house of the wicked: he overthroweth the wicked to [their] ruin.

13. എളിയവന്റെ നിലവിളിക്കു ചെവി പൊത്തിക്കളയുന്നവന് താനും വിളിച്ചപേക്ഷിക്കും; ഉത്തരം ലഭിക്കയില്ല.

13. Whoso stoppeth his ears at the cry of the poor, he also himself shall cry, and shall not be heard.

14. രഹസ്യത്തില് ചെയ്യുന്ന ദാനം കോപത്തെയും മടിയില് കൊണ്ടുവരുന്ന സമ്മാനം ഉഗ്രകോപത്തെയും ശമിപ്പിക്കുന്നു.

14. A gift in secret pacifieth anger; and a present in the bosom, vehement fury.

15. ന്യായം പ്രവര്ത്തിക്കുന്നതു നീതിമാന്നു സന്തോഷവും ദുഷ്പ്രവൃത്തിക്കാര്ക്കും ഭയങ്കരവും ആകുന്നു.

15. It is joy to a righteous [man] to do what is right; but it is ruin for the workers of iniquity.

16. വിവേകമാര്ഗ്ഗം വിട്ടുനടക്കുന്നവന് മൃതന്മാരുടെ കൂട്ടത്തില് വിശ്രമിക്കും.

16. The man that wandereth out of the way of wisdom shall abide in the congregation of the dead.

17. ഉല്ലാസപ്രിയന് ദരിദ്രനായ്തീരും; വീഞ്ഞും തൈലവും പ്രിയപ്പെടുന്നവന് ധനവാനാകയില്ല.

17. He that loveth mirth shall be a poor man; he that loveth wine and oil shall not be rich.

18. ദുഷ്ടന് നീതിമാന്നു മറുവിലയാകും; ദ്രോഹി നേരുള്ളവര്ക്കും പകരമായ്തീരും.

18. The wicked is a ransom for the righteous, and a treacherous [man] in the stead of the upright.

19. ശണ്ഠയും ദുശ്ശീലവുമുള്ള സ്ത്രീയോടുകൂടെ പാര്ക്കുംന്നതിലും നിര്ജ്ജനപ്രദേശത്തു പോയി പാര്ക്കുംന്നതു നല്ലതു.

19. It is better to dwell in a desert land. than with a contentious and irritable woman.

20. ജ്ഞാനിയുടെ പാര്പ്പിടത്തില് വിലയേറിയ നിക്ഷേപവും തൈലവും ഉണ്ടു; മൂഢനോ അവയെ ദുര്വ്യയം ചെയ്തുകളയുന്നു.

20. There is costly store and oil in the dwelling of a wise [man]; but a foolish man swalloweth it up.

21. നീതിയും ദയയും പിന്തുടരുന്നവന് ജീവനും നീതിയും മാനവും കണ്ടെത്തും.

21. He that followeth after righteousness and mercy findeth life, righteousness, and honour.

22. ജ്ഞാനി വീരന്മാരുടെ പട്ടണത്തില് കയറുകയും അതിന്റെ ആശ്രയമായ കോട്ടയെ ഇടിച്ചുകളകയും ചെയ്യുന്നു.

22. A wise [man] scaleth the city of the mighty, and casteth down the strength of the confidence thereof.

23. വായും നാവും സൂക്ഷിക്കുന്നവന് തന്റെ പ്രാണനെ കഷ്ടങ്ങളില്നിന്നു സൂക്ഷിക്കുന്നു.

23. Whoso keepeth his mouth and his tongue keepeth his soul from troubles.

24. നിഗളവും ഗര്വ്വവും ഉള്ളവന്നു പരിഹാസി എന്നു പേര്; അവന് ഗര്വ്വത്തിന്റെ അഹങ്കാരത്തോടെ പ്രവര്ത്തിക്കുന്നു.

24. Proud, arrogant, scorner is his name who dealeth in proud wrath.

25. മടിയന്റെ കൊതി അവന്നു മരണഹേതു; വേലചെയ്വാന് അവന്റെ കൈകള് മടിക്കുന്നുവല്ലോ.

25. The desire of the sluggard killeth him; for his hands refuse to work:

26. ചിലര് നിത്യം അത്യാഗ്രഹത്തോടെ ഇരിക്കുന്നു; നീതിമാനോ ലോഭിക്കാതെ കൊടുത്തുകൊണ്ടിരിക്കുന്നു.

26. He coveteth greedily all the day long; but the righteous giveth and spareth not.

27. ദുഷ്ടന്മാരുടെ ഹനനയാഗം വെറുപ്പാകുന്നു; അവന് ദുരാന്തരത്തോടെ അതു അര്പ്പിച്ചാല് എത്ര അധികം!

27. The sacrifice of the wicked is abomination: how much more when they bring it with a wicked purpose!

28. കള്ളസ്സാക്ഷി നശിച്ചുപോകും; ശ്രദ്ധിച്ചുകേള്ക്കുന്നവന്നോ എപ്പോഴും സംസാരിക്കാം.

28. A lying witness shall perish; and a man that heareth shall speak constantly.

29. ദുഷ്ടന് മുഖധാര്ഷ്ട്യം കാണിക്കുന്നു; നേരുള്ളവനോ തന്റെ വഴി നന്നാക്കുന്നു.

29. A wicked man hardeneth his face; but as for the upright, he establisheth his way.

30. യഹോവെക്കെതിരെ ജ്ഞാനവുമില്ല, ബുദ്ധിയുമില്ല, ആലോചനയുമില്ല.

30. There is no wisdom, nor understanding, nor counsel against Jehovah.

31. കുതിരയെ യുദ്ധദിവസത്തേക്കു ചമയിക്കുന്നു; ജയമോ യഹോവയുടെ കൈവശത്തിലിരിക്കുന്നു.

31. The horse is prepared for the day of battle; but safety is of Jehovah.
