1. കൂടക്കൂടെ ശാസന കേട്ടിട്ടും ശാഠ്യം കാണിക്കുന്നവന് നീക്കുപോക്കില്ലാതെ പെട്ടെന്നു നശിച്ചുപോകും.

1. He who, being often reproved, hardens his neck shall suddenly be destroyed, and that without remedy.

2. നീതിമാന്മാര് വര്ദ്ധിക്കുമ്പോള് ജനം സന്തോഷിക്കുന്നു; ദുഷ്ടന് ആധിപത്യം നടത്തുമ്പോഴോ ജനം നെടുവീര്പ്പിടുന്നു.

2. When the righteous are increased, the people rejoice, but when a wicked man bears rule, the people sigh.

3. ജ്ഞാനത്തില് ഇഷ്ടപ്പെടുന്നവന് തന്റെ അപ്പനെ സന്തോഷിപ്പിക്കുന്നു; വേശ്യകളോടു സഹവാസം ചെയ്യുന്നവനോ തന്റെ സമ്പത്തു നശിപ്പിക്കുന്നു.

3. He who loves wisdom delights his father, but he who keeps company with harlots wastes his substance.

4. രാജാവു ന്യായപാലനത്താല് രാജ്യത്തെ നിലനിര്ത്തുന്നു; നികുതി വര്ദ്ധിപ്പിക്കുന്നവനോ അതിനെ നശിപ്പിക്കുന്നു.

4. By justice the king establishes the land, but he who exacts gifts overthrows it.

5. കൂട്ടുകാരനോടു മുഖസ്തുതി പറയുന്നവന് അവന്റെ കാലിന്നു ഒരു വല വിരിക്കുന്നു.

5. A man who flatters his neighbor spreads a net for his steps.

6. ദുഷ്കര്മ്മി തന്റെ ലംഘനത്തില് കുടുങ്ങുന്നു; നീതിമാനോ ഘോഷിച്ചാനന്ദിക്കുന്നു.

6. In the transgression of an evil man there is a snare, but a righteous man sings and rejoices.

7. നീതിമാന് അഗതികളുടെ കാര്യം അറിയുന്നു; ദുഷ്ടനോ പരിജ്ഞാനം ഇന്നതെന്നു അറിയുന്നില്ല.

7. A righteous man takes knowledge of the cause of the poor. A wicked man has no such understanding to know.

8. പരിഹാസികള് പട്ടണത്തില് കോപാഗ്നി ജ്വലിപ്പിക്കുന്നു. ജ്ഞാനികളോ ക്രോധത്തെ ശമിപ്പിക്കുന്നു.

8. Scoffers set a city in a flame, but wise men turn away wrath.

9. ജ്ഞാനിക്കും ഭോഷന്നും തമ്മില് വാഗ്വാദം ഉണ്ടായിട്ടു അവന് കോപിച്ചാലോ ചിരിച്ചാലോ ശമനം വരികയില്ല.

9. If a wise man has a controversy with a foolish man, whether he be angry or laugh, there will be no rest.

10. രക്തപാതകന്മാര് നിഷ്കളങ്കനെ ദ്വേഷിക്കുന്നു; നേരുള്ളവരോ അവന്റെ പ്രാണരക്ഷ അന്വേഷിക്കുന്നു.

10. Bloodthirsty men hate him who is perfect, but the upright seek his soul.

11. മൂഢന് തന്റെ കോപത്തെ മുഴുവനും വെളിപ്പെടുത്തുന്നു; ജ്ഞാനിയോ അതിനെ അടക്കി ശമിപ്പിക്കുന്നു.

11. A fool utters all his anger, but a wise man keeps it back and calms it.

12. അധിപതി നുണ കേള്പ്പാന് തുടങ്ങിയാല് അവന്റെ ഭൃത്യന്മാരൊക്കെയും ദുഷ്ടന്മാരാകും.

12. If a ruler hearkens to falsehood, all his servants are wicked.

13. ദരിദ്രനും പീഡകനും തമ്മില് എതിര്പെടുന്നു; ഇരുവരുടെയും കണ്ണു യഹോവ പ്രകാശിപ്പിക്കുന്നു.

13. The poor man and the oppressor meet together. LORD enlightens the eyes of them both.

14. അഗതികള്ക്കു വിശ്വസ്തതയോടെ ന്യായപാലനം ചെയ്യുന്ന രാജാവിന്റെ സിംഹാസനം എന്നേക്കും സ്ഥിരമായിരിക്കും.

14. The king who faithfully judges the poor, his throne shall be established forever.

15. വടിയും ശാസനയും ജ്ഞാനത്തെ നലകുന്നു; തന്നിഷ്ടത്തിന്നു വിട്ടിരുന്ന ബാലനോ അമ്മെക്കു ലജ്ജ വരുത്തുന്നു.

15. The rod and reproof give wisdom, but a child left to himself causes shame to his mother.

16. ദുഷ്ടന്മാര് പെരുകുമ്പോള് അതിക്രമം പെരുകുന്നു; നീതിമാന്മാരോ അവരുടെ വീഴ്ച കാണും.

16. When the wicked are increased, transgression increases, but the righteous shall look upon their fall.

17. നിന്റെ മകനെ ശിക്ഷിക്ക; അവന് നിനക്കു ആശ്വാസമായ്തീരും; അവന് നിന്റെ മനസ്സിന്നു പ്രമോദംവരുത്തും.

17. Correct thy son, and he will give thee rest, yea, he will give delight to thy soul.

18. വെളിപ്പാടു ഇല്ലാത്തെടത്തു ജനം മര്യാദവിട്ടു നടക്കുന്നു; ന്യായപ്രമാണം കാത്തുകൊള്ളുന്നവനോ ഭാഗ്യവാന് .

18. Where there is no vision, the people cast off restraint, but he who keeps the law, happy is he.

19. ദാസനെ ഗുണീകരിപ്പാന് വാക്കു മാത്രം പോരാ; അവന് അതു ഗ്രഹിച്ചാലും കൂട്ടാക്കുകയില്ലല്ലോ.

19. A servant will not be corrected by words, for though he understands, he will not give heed.

20. വാക്കില് ബദ്ധപ്പാടുള്ള മനുഷ്യനെ നീ കാണുന്നുവോ? അവനെക്കാള് മൂഢനെക്കുറിച്ചു അധികം പ്രത്യാശയുണ്ടു.

20. See thou a man who is hasty in his words? There is more hope for a fool than for him.

21. ദാസനെ ബാല്യംമുതല് ലാളിച്ചുവളര്ത്തുന്നവനോടു അവന് ഒടുക്കം ദുശ്ശാഠ്യം കാണിക്കും.

21. He who brings up his servant gently from childhood shall have him become a son at the last.

22. കോപമുള്ളവന് വഴക്കുണ്ടാക്കുന്നു; ക്രോധമുള്ളവന് അതിക്രമം വര്ദ്ധിപ്പിക്കുന്നു.

22. An angry man stirs up strife, and a wrathful man abounds in transgression.

23. മനുഷ്യന്റെ ഗര്വ്വം അവനെ താഴ്ത്തിക്കളയും; മനോവിനയമുള്ളവനോ മാനം പ്രാപിക്കും.

23. A man's pride shall bring him low, but he who is of a lowly spirit shall obtain honor.

24. കള്ളനുമായി പങ്കു കൂടുന്നവന് സ്വന്ത പ്രാണനെ പകെക്കുന്നു; അവന് സത്യവാചകം കേള്ക്കുന്നു; ഒന്നും പ്രസ്താവിക്കുന്നില്ലതാനും.

24. He who is partner with a thief hates his own soul; he hears the adjuration and utters nothing.

25. മാനുഷഭയം ഒരു കണി ആകുന്നു; യഹോവയില് ആശ്രയിക്കുന്നവനോ രക്ഷപ്രാപിക്കും.

25. The fear of man brings a snare, but he who puts his trust in LORD shall be safe.

26. അനേകര് അധിപതിയുടെ മുഖപ്രസാദം അന്വേഷിക്കുന്നു; മനുഷ്യന്റെ ന്യായവിധിയോ യഹോവയാല് വരുന്നു.

26. Many seek the ruler's favor, but a man's justice is from LORD.

27. നീതികെട്ടവന് നീതിമാന്മാര്ക്കും വെറുപ്പു; സന്മാര്ഗ്ഗി ദുഷ്ടന്മാര്ക്കും വെറുപ്പു.

27. An unjust man is an abomination to the righteous, and he who is upright in the way is an abomination to a wicked man.
