1. എന്നാല് കഷ്ടതയില് ഇരുന്ന ദേശത്തിന്നു തിമിരം നില്ക്കയില്ല; പണ്ടു അവന് സെബൂലൂന് ദേശത്തിന്നു നഫ്താലിദേശത്തിന്നും ഹീനത വരുത്തിയെങ്കിലും പിന്നത്തേതില് അവന് കടല്വഴിയായി യോര്ദ്ദാന്നക്കരെയുള്ള ജാതികളുടെ മണ്ഡലത്തിന്നു മഹത്വം വരുത്തും.
മത്തായി 4:15-16

1. But there will be no [more] gloom for her who was in anguish; in earlier times He treated the land of Zebulun and the land of Naphtali with contempt, but later on He shall make [it] glorious, by the way of the sea, on the other side of Jordan, Galilee of the Gentiles.

2. ഇരുട്ടില് നടന്ന ജനം വലിയൊരു വെളിച്ചം കണ്ടു; അന്ധതമസ്സുള്ള ദേശത്തു പാര്ത്തവരുടെ മേല് പ്രകാശം ശോഭിച്ചു.

2. The people who walk in darkness Will see a great light; Those who live in a dark land, The light will shine on them.

3. നീ വര്ദ്ധിപ്പിച്ചിട്ടില്ലാത്ത ജാതിയെ വര്ദ്ധിപ്പിക്കുന്നു; അവര് നിന്റെ സന്നിധിയില് സന്തോഷിക്കുന്ന സന്തോഷം കൊയ്ത്തുകാലത്തിലെ സന്തോഷംപോലെയും കൊള്ളപങ്കിടുമ്പോള് ആനന്ദിക്കുന്നതു പോലെയും ആകുന്നു.

3. You shall multiply the nation, You shall increase their gladness; They will be glad in Your presence As with the gladness of harvest, As men rejoice when they divide the spoil.

4. അവന് ചുമക്കുന്ന നുകവും അവന്റെ ചുമലിലെ കോലും അവനെ ദണ്ഡിപ്പിക്കുന്നവന്റെ വടിയും മിദ്യാന്റെ നാളിലെപ്പോലെ നീ ഒടിച്ചുകളഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു.

4. For You shall break the yoke of their burden and the staff on their shoulders, The rod of their oppressor, as at the battle of Midian.

5. ഒച്ചയോടെ ചവിട്ടി നടക്കുന്ന യോദ്ധാവിന്റെ ചെരിപ്പൊക്കെയും രക്തംപിരണ്ട വസ്ത്രവും വിറകുപോലെ തീക്കു ഇരയായിത്തീരും.

5. For every boot of the booted warrior in the [battle] tumult, And cloak rolled in blood, will be for burning, fuel for the fire.

6. നമുക്കു ഒരു ശിശു ജനിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു; നമുക്കു ഒരു മകന് നല്കപ്പെട്ടിരിക്കുന്നു; ആധിപത്യം അവന്റെ തോളില് ഇരിക്കും; അവന്നു അത്ഭുതമന്ത്രി, വീരനാം ദൈവം, നിത്യപിതാവു, സമാധാന പ്രഭു എന്നു പേര് വിളിക്കപ്പെടും.

6. For a child will be born to us, a son will be given to us; And the government will rest on His shoulders; And His name will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace.

8. കര്ത്താവു യാക്കോബില് ഒരു വചനം അയച്ചു; അതു യിസ്രായേലിന്മേല് വീണും ഇരിക്കുന്നു.

8. The Lord sends a message against Jacob, And it falls on Israel.

9. ഇഷ്ടികകള് വീണുപോയി എങ്കിലും ഞങ്ങള് വെട്ടുകല്ലുകൊണ്ടു പണിയും; കാട്ടത്തികളെ വെട്ടിക്കളഞ്ഞു എങ്കിലും ഞങ്ങള് അവേക്കു പകരം ദേവദാരുക്കളെ നട്ടുകൊള്ളും

9. And all the people know [it], [That is], Ephraim and the inhabitants of Samaria, Asserting in pride and in arrogance of heart:

10. എന്നിങ്ങനെ ഡംഭത്തോടും ഹൃദയഗര്വ്വത്തോടുംകൂടെ പറയുന്ന എഫ്രയീമും ശമര്യ്യനിവാസികളുമായ ജനമൊക്കെയും അതു അറിയും.

10. 'The bricks have fallen down, But we will rebuild with smooth stones; The sycamores have been cut down, But we will replace [them] with cedars.'

11. അതുകൊണ്ടു യഹോവ രെസീന്റെ വൈരികളെ അവന്റെ നേരെ ഉയര്ത്തി, അവന്റെ ശത്രുക്കളെ ഇളക്കിവിട്ടിരിക്കുന്നു.

11. Therefore the LORD raises against them adversaries from Rezin And spurs their enemies on,

12. അരാമ്യര് കിഴക്കും ഫെലിസ്ത്യര് പടിഞ്ഞാറും തന്നേ; അവര് യിസ്രായേലിനെ വായ് പിളര്ന്നു വിഴുങ്ങിക്കളയും. ഇതെല്ലാംകൊണ്ടും അവന്റെ കോപം അടങ്ങാതെ അവന്റെ കൈ ഇനിയും നീട്ടിയിരിക്കും.

12. The Arameans on the east and the Philistines on the west; And they devour Israel with gaping jaws. In [spite of] all this, His anger does not turn away And His hand is still stretched out.

13. എന്നിട്ടും ജനം തങ്ങളെ അടിക്കുന്നവങ്കലേക്കു തിരിയുന്നില്ല; സൈന്യങ്ങളുടെ യഹോവയെ അന്വേഷിക്കുന്നതുമില്ല.

13. Yet the people do not turn back to Him who struck them, Nor do they seek the LORD of hosts.

14. അതുകൊണ്ടു യഹോവ യിസ്രായേലില്നിന്നു തലയും വാലും പനമ്പട്ടയും പോട്ടപ്പുല്ലും ഒരു ദിവസത്തില് തന്നേ ഛേദിച്ചുകളയും.

14. So the LORD cuts off head and tail from Israel, [Both] palm branch and bulrush in a single day.

15. മൂപ്പനും മൂന്യപുരുഷനും തന്നേ തല; അസത്യം ഉപദേശിക്കുന്ന പ്രവാചകന് തന്നേ വാല്.

15. The head is the elder and honorable man, And the prophet who teaches falsehood is the tail.

16. ഈ ജനത്തെ നടത്തുന്നവര് അവരെ തെറ്റിച്ചുകളയുന്നു; അവരാല് നടത്തപ്പെടുന്നവര് നശിച്ചുപോകുന്നു.

16. For those who guide this people are leading [them] astray; And those who are guided by them are brought to confusion.

17. അതുകൊണ്ടു കര്ത്താവു അവരുടെ യൌവനക്കാരില് സന്തോഷിക്കയില്ല; അവരുടെ അനാഥന്മാരോടും വിധവമാരോടും അവന്നു കരുണ തോന്നുകയുമില്ല; എല്ലാവരും വഷളന്മാരും ദുഷ്കര്മ്മികളും ആകുന്നു; എല്ലാവായും ഭോഷത്വം സംസാരിക്കുന്നു. ഇതു എല്ലാം കൊണ്ടും അവന്റെ കോപം അടങ്ങാതെ അവന്റെ കൈ ഇനിയും നീട്ടിയിരിക്കും.

17. Therefore the Lord does not take pleasure in their young men, Nor does He have pity on their orphans or their widows; For every one of them is godless and an evildoer, And every mouth is speaking foolishness. In [spite of] all this, His anger does not turn away And His hand is still stretched out.

18. ദുഷ്ടത തീപോലെ ജ്വലിക്കുന്നു; അതു പറക്കാരയും മുള്ളും ദഹിപ്പിക്കുന്നു; വനത്തിലെ പള്ളക്കാടുകളില് കത്തുന്നു; പുകത്തൂണുകളായി ഉരുണ്ടുപൊങ്ങും.

18. For wickedness burns like a fire; It consumes briars and thorns; It even sets the thickets of the forest aflame And they roll upward in a column of smoke.

19. സൈന്യങ്ങളുടെ യഹോവയുടെ കോപംനിമിത്തം ദേശം ദഹിച്ചുപോയിരിക്കുന്നു; ജനവും തീക്കു ഇരയായിരിക്കുന്നു; ഒരുത്തനും തന്റെ സഹോദരനെ ആദരിക്കുന്നില്ല.

19. By the fury of the LORD of hosts the land is burned up, And the people are like fuel for the fire; No man spares his brother.

20. ഒരുത്തന് വലത്തുഭാഗം കടിച്ചുപറിച്ചിട്ടും വിശന്നിരിക്കും; ഇടത്തുഭാഗവും തിന്നും; തൃപ്തിവരികയുമില്ല; ഔരോരുത്തന് താന്താന്റെ ഭുജത്തിന്റെ മാംസം തിന്നുകളയുന്നു.

20. They slice off [what is] on the right hand but [still] are hungry, And they eat [what is] on the left hand but they are not satisfied; Each of them eats the flesh of his own arm.

21. മനശ്ശെ എഫ്രയീമിനെയും എഫ്രയീം മനശ്ശെയെയും തന്നേ; അവര് ഇരുവരും യെഹൂദെക്കു വിരോധമായിരിക്കുന്നു. ഇതെല്ലാംകൊണ്ടും അവന്റെ കോപം അടങ്ങാതെ അവന്റെ കൈ ഇനിയും നീട്ടിയിരിക്കും.

21. Manasseh [devours] Ephraim, and Ephraim Manasseh, [And] together they are against Judah. In [spite of] all this, His anger does not turn away And His hand is still stretched out.
