1. എന്നാല് കഷ്ടതയില് ഇരുന്ന ദേശത്തിന്നു തിമിരം നില്ക്കയില്ല; പണ്ടു അവന് സെബൂലൂന് ദേശത്തിന്നു നഫ്താലിദേശത്തിന്നും ഹീനത വരുത്തിയെങ്കിലും പിന്നത്തേതില് അവന് കടല്വഴിയായി യോര്ദ്ദാന്നക്കരെയുള്ള ജാതികളുടെ മണ്ഡലത്തിന്നു മഹത്വം വരുത്തും.
മത്തായി 4:15-16

1. The people living in darkness have seen a great light; upon those living in the land that lies in the shadow of death, light has dawned.

2. ഇരുട്ടില് നടന്ന ജനം വലിയൊരു വെളിച്ചം കണ്ടു; അന്ധതമസ്സുള്ള ദേശത്തു പാര്ത്തവരുടെ മേല് പ്രകാശം ശോഭിച്ചു.

2. You have enlarged the nation and increased their joy; they rejoice in your presence as if rejoicing at harvest time, the way men rejoice when dividing up the spoil.

3. നീ വര്ദ്ധിപ്പിച്ചിട്ടില്ലാത്ത ജാതിയെ വര്ദ്ധിപ്പിക്കുന്നു; അവര് നിന്റെ സന്നിധിയില് സന്തോഷിക്കുന്ന സന്തോഷം കൊയ്ത്തുകാലത്തിലെ സന്തോഷംപോലെയും കൊള്ളപങ്കിടുമ്പോള് ആനന്ദിക്കുന്നതു പോലെയും ആകുന്നു.

3. For the yoke that weighed them down, the bar across their shoulders, and their driver's goad you have broken as on the day of Midyan[['s defeat]].

4. അവന് ചുമക്കുന്ന നുകവും അവന്റെ ചുമലിലെ കോലും അവനെ ദണ്ഡിപ്പിക്കുന്നവന്റെ വടിയും മിദ്യാന്റെ നാളിലെപ്പോലെ നീ ഒടിച്ചുകളഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു.

4. For all the boots of soldiers marching and every cloak rolled in blood is destined for burning, fuel for the fire.

5. ഒച്ചയോടെ ചവിട്ടി നടക്കുന്ന യോദ്ധാവിന്റെ ചെരിപ്പൊക്കെയും രക്തംപിരണ്ട വസ്ത്രവും വിറകുപോലെ തീക്കു ഇരയായിത്തീരും.

5. For a child is born to us, a son is given to us; dominion will rest on his shoulders, and he will be given the name Pele-Yo'etz El Gibbor Avi-'Ad Sar-Shalom [[Wonder of a Counselor, Mighty God, Father of Eternity, Prince of Peace]],

6. നമുക്കു ഒരു ശിശു ജനിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു; നമുക്കു ഒരു മകന് നല്കപ്പെട്ടിരിക്കുന്നു; ആധിപത്യം അവന്റെ തോളില് ഇരിക്കും; അവന്നു അത്ഭുതമന്ത്രി, വീരനാം ദൈവം, നിത്യപിതാവു, സമാധാന പ്രഭു എന്നു പേര് വിളിക്കപ്പെടും.

6. in order to extend the dominion and perpetuate the peace of the throne and kingdom of David, to secure it and sustain it through justice and righteousness henceforth and forever. The zeal of ADONAI-[Tzva'ot] will accomplish this.

8. കര്ത്താവു യാക്കോബില് ഒരു വചനം അയച്ചു; അതു യിസ്രായേലിന്മേല് വീണും ഇരിക്കുന്നു.

8. All the people know it, Efrayim and the inhabitants of Shomron. But they say in pride, in the arrogance of their hearts,

9. ഇഷ്ടികകള് വീണുപോയി എങ്കിലും ഞങ്ങള് വെട്ടുകല്ലുകൊണ്ടു പണിയും; കാട്ടത്തികളെ വെട്ടിക്കളഞ്ഞു എങ്കിലും ഞങ്ങള് അവേക്കു പകരം ദേവദാരുക്കളെ നട്ടുകൊള്ളും

9. 'The bricks have fallen, but we will rebuild with cut stone; the sycamore-fig trees have been chopped down, but we will replace them with cedars.'

10. എന്നിങ്ങനെ ഡംഭത്തോടും ഹൃദയഗര്വ്വത്തോടുംകൂടെ പറയുന്ന എഫ്രയീമും ശമര്യ്യനിവാസികളുമായ ജനമൊക്കെയും അതു അറിയും.

10. So ADONAI has raised up Retzin's foes against him and spurred on his enemies-

11. അതുകൊണ്ടു യഹോവ രെസീന്റെ വൈരികളെ അവന്റെ നേരെ ഉയര്ത്തി, അവന്റെ ശത്രുക്കളെ ഇളക്കിവിട്ടിരിക്കുന്നു.

11. Aram from the east, P'lishtim from the west; and they devour Isra'el with an open mouth. Even after all this, his anger remains, his upraised hand still threatens.

12. അരാമ്യര് കിഴക്കും ഫെലിസ്ത്യര് പടിഞ്ഞാറും തന്നേ; അവര് യിസ്രായേലിനെ വായ് പിളര്ന്നു വിഴുങ്ങിക്കളയും. ഇതെല്ലാംകൊണ്ടും അവന്റെ കോപം അടങ്ങാതെ അവന്റെ കൈ ഇനിയും നീട്ടിയിരിക്കും.

12. Yet the people do not turn to the one striking them, they don't seek ADONAI-[Tzva'ot].

13. എന്നിട്ടും ജനം തങ്ങളെ അടിക്കുന്നവങ്കലേക്കു തിരിയുന്നില്ല; സൈന്യങ്ങളുടെ യഹോവയെ അന്വേഷിക്കുന്നതുമില്ല.

13. Therefore ADONAI will cut off Isra'el's head and tail, [[tall]] palm frond and [[lowly]] reed in a single day.

14. അതുകൊണ്ടു യഹോവ യിസ്രായേലില്നിന്നു തലയും വാലും പനമ്പട്ടയും പോട്ടപ്പുല്ലും ഒരു ദിവസത്തില് തന്നേ ഛേദിച്ചുകളയും.

14. The old and the honored are the head, while prophets teaching lies are the tail.

15. മൂപ്പനും മൂന്യപുരുഷനും തന്നേ തല; അസത്യം ഉപദേശിക്കുന്ന പ്രവാചകന് തന്നേ വാല്.

15. For those leading this people lead them astray, and those led by them are destroyed.

16. ഈ ജനത്തെ നടത്തുന്നവര് അവരെ തെറ്റിച്ചുകളയുന്നു; അവരാല് നടത്തപ്പെടുന്നവര് നശിച്ചുപോകുന്നു.

16. Therefore [Adonai] takes no joy in their young men and has no compassion on their orphans and widows; for everyone is ungodly and does evil, every mouth speaks foolishly. Even after all this, his anger remains, his upraised hand still threatens.

17. അതുകൊണ്ടു കര്ത്താവു അവരുടെ യൌവനക്കാരില് സന്തോഷിക്കയില്ല; അവരുടെ അനാഥന്മാരോടും വിധവമാരോടും അവന്നു കരുണ തോന്നുകയുമില്ല; എല്ലാവരും വഷളന്മാരും ദുഷ്കര്മ്മികളും ആകുന്നു; എല്ലാവായും ഭോഷത്വം സംസാരിക്കുന്നു. ഇതു എല്ലാം കൊണ്ടും അവന്റെ കോപം അടങ്ങാതെ അവന്റെ കൈ ഇനിയും നീട്ടിയിരിക്കും.

17. For wickedness burns like fire, it devours briars and thorns; it sets the forest underbrush ablaze, with clouds of smoke whirling upward.

18. ദുഷ്ടത തീപോലെ ജ്വലിക്കുന്നു; അതു പറക്കാരയും മുള്ളും ദഹിപ്പിക്കുന്നു; വനത്തിലെ പള്ളക്കാടുകളില് കത്തുന്നു; പുകത്തൂണുകളായി ഉരുണ്ടുപൊങ്ങും.

18. The anger of ADONAI-[Tzva'ot] is burning up the land; the people, too, are fuel for the fire- no one spares even his brother.

19. സൈന്യങ്ങളുടെ യഹോവയുടെ കോപംനിമിത്തം ദേശം ദഹിച്ചുപോയിരിക്കുന്നു; ജനവും തീക്കു ഇരയായിരിക്കുന്നു; ഒരുത്തനും തന്റെ സഹോദരനെ ആദരിക്കുന്നില്ല.

19. The one on the right grabs but stays hungry, the one on the left eats but is unfilled. Everyone devours his own arm's flesh-

20. ഒരുത്തന് വലത്തുഭാഗം കടിച്ചുപറിച്ചിട്ടും വിശന്നിരിക്കും; ഇടത്തുഭാഗവും തിന്നും; തൃപ്തിവരികയുമില്ല; ഔരോരുത്തന് താന്താന്റെ ഭുജത്തിന്റെ മാംസം തിന്നുകളയുന്നു.

20. M'nasheh devours Efrayim; and Efrayim, M'nasheh; while together they oppose Y'hudah. Even after all this, his anger remains, his upraised hand still threatens.
