1. യിസ്രായേലേ, നീ മനംതിരിയുമെങ്കില് എന്റെ അടുക്കലേക്കു മടങ്ങി വന്നുകൊള്ക എന്നു യഹോവയുടെ അരുളപ്പാടു; നിന്റെ മ്ളേച്ഛവിഗ്രഹങ്ങളെ എന്റെ മുമ്പില്നിന്നു നീക്കിക്കളയുമെങ്കില് നീ അലഞ്ഞു നടക്കേണ്ടിവരികയില്ല.

1. O Israel, if thou returne, returne vnto me, saith the Lord: and if thou put away thine abominations out of my sight, then shalt thou not remoue.

2. യഹോവയാണ എന്നു നീ പരമാര്ത്ഥമായും ന്യായമായും നീതിയായും സത്യം ചെയ്കയും ജാതികള് അവനില് തങ്ങളെത്തന്നെ അനുഗ്രഹിച്ചു അവനില് പുകഴുകയും ചെയ്യും.

2. And thou shalt sweare, The Lord liueth in trueth, in iudgement, and in righteousnesse, and the nations shall be blessed in him, and shall glorie in him.

3. യെഹൂദാപുരുഷന്മാരോടും യെരൂശലേമ്യരോടും യഹോവ ഇപ്രകാരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നുനിങ്ങള് മുള്ളുകളുടെ ഇടയില് വിതെക്കാതെ തരിശുനിലം ഉഴുവിന് .

3. For thus saith the Lord to the men of Iudah, and to Ierusalem,

4. യെഹൂദാപുരുഷന്മാരും യെരൂശലേംനിവാസികളും ആയുള്ളോരേ, നിങ്ങളുടെ ദുഷ്പ്രവൃത്തികള്നിമിത്തം എന്റെ കോപം തീപോലെ ജ്വലിച്ചു ആര്ക്കും കൊടുത്തുകൂടാതവണ്ണം കത്താതിരിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു നിങ്ങളെത്തന്നേ യഹോവെക്കായി പരിച്ഛേദന ചെയ്തു നിങ്ങളുടെ ഹൃദയത്തിന്റെ അഗ്രചര്മ്മം നീക്കിക്കളവിന് .

4. Breake vp your fallowe ground, and sowe not among the thornes: be circumcised to the Lord, and take away the foreskinnes of your hearts, ye men of Iudah, and inhabitants of Ierusalem, lest my wrath come foorth like fire, and burne, that none can quenche it, because of the wickednesse of your inuentions.

5. യെഹൂദയില് അറിയിച്ചു യെരൂശലേമില് പ്രസിദ്ധമാക്കി ദേശത്തു കാഹളം ഊതുവാന് പറവിന് ; കൂടിവരുവിന് ; നമുക്കു ഉറപ്പുള്ള പട്ടണങ്ങളിലേക്കു പോകാം എന്നു ഉറക്കെ വിളിച്ചു പറവിന് .

5. Declare in Iudah, and shewe forth in Ierusalem, and say, Blowe the trumpet in the lande: cry, and gather together, and say, Assemble your selues, and let vs goe into strong cities.

6. സീയോന്നു കൊടി ഉയര്ത്തുവിന് ; നില്ക്കാതെ ഔടിപ്പോകുവിന് ; ഞാന് വടക്കുനിന്നു അനര്ത്ഥവും വലിയ നാശവും വരുത്തും.

6. Set vp the standart in Zion: prepare to flee, and stay not: for I will bring a plague from the North, and a great destruction.

7. സിംഹം പള്ളക്കാട്ടില് നിന്നു ഇളകിയിരിക്കുന്നു; ജാതികളുടെ സംഹാരകന് ഇതാ, നിന്റെ ദേശത്തെ ശൂന്യമാക്കുവാന് തന്റെ സ്ഥലം വിട്ടു പുറപ്പെട്ടിരിക്കുന്നു; അവന് നിന്റെ പട്ടണങ്ങളെ നിവാസികള് ഇല്ലാതവണ്ണം നശിപ്പിക്കും.

7. The lyon is come vp from his denne, and the destroyer of the Gentiles is departed, and gone forth of his place to lay thy land waste, and thy cities shalbe destroyed without an inhabitant.

8. ഇതു നിമിത്തം രട്ടുടുപ്പിന് ; വിലപിച്ചു മുറയിടുവിന് ; യഹോവയുടെ ഉഗ്രകോപം നമ്മെ വിട്ടുമാറീട്ടില്ലല്ലോ.

8. Wherefore girde you with sackecloth: lament, and howle, for the fierce wrath of the Lord is not turned backe from vs.

9. അന്നാളില് രാജാവിന്റെ ധൈര്യവും പ്രഭുക്കന്മാരുടെ ധൈര്യവും ക്ഷയിക്കും; പുരോഹിതന്മാര് ഭ്രമിച്ചും പ്രവാചകന്മാര് സ്തംഭിച്ചും പോകും എന്നു യഹോവയുടെ അരുളപ്പാടു.

9. And in that day, saith the Lord, the heart of the King shall perish, and the heart of the princes and the Priestes shall be astonished, and the Prophets shall wonder.

10. അതിന്നു ഞാന് അയ്യോ, യഹോവയായ കര്ത്താവേ, പ്രാണനില് വാള് കടന്നിരിക്കെ നിങ്ങള്ക്കു സമാധാനം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു നീ ഈ ജനത്തെയും യെരൂശലേമിനെയും ഏറ്റവും വഞ്ചിച്ചുവല്ലോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

10. Then saide I, Ah, Lord God, surely thou hast deceiued this people and Ierusalem, saying, Ye shall haue peace, and the sworde perceth vnto the heart.

11. ആ കാലത്തു ഈ ജനത്തോടും യെരൂശലേമിനോടും പറവാനുള്ളതെന്തെന്നാല്മരുഭൂമിയിലെ മൊട്ടക്കുന്നുകളില്നിന്നു ഒരു ഉഷ്ണക്കാറ്റു പേറ്റുവാനല്ല കൊഴിപ്പാനുമല്ല എന്റെ ജനത്തിന്റെ പുത്രിക്കു നേരെ ഊതും.

11. At that time shall it bee saide to this people and to Ierusalem, A dry winde in the hie places of the wildernes commeth towarde ye daughter of my people, but neither to fanne nor to clense.

12. A mightie winde shall come vnto me from those places, and nowe will I also giue sentence vpon them.

13. ഇതാ, അവന് മേഘങ്ങളെപ്പോലെ കയറിവരുന്നു; അവന്റെ രഥങ്ങള് ചുഴലിക്കാറ്റുപോലെ ആകുന്നു; അവന്റെ കുതിരകള് കഴുക്കളെക്കാളും വേഗതയുള്ളവ; അയ്യോ കഷ്ടം; നാം നശിച്ചല്ലോ.

13. Beholde, he shall come vp as the cloudes, and his charets shalbe as a tempest: his horses are lighter then eagles. Woe vnto vs, for wee are destroyed.

14. യെരൂശലേമേ, നീ രക്ഷിക്കപ്പെടേണ്ടതിന്നു നിന്റെ ഹൃദയത്തിന്റെ ദുഷ്ടത കഴുകിക്കളക; നിന്റെ ദുഷ്ടവിചാരങ്ങള് എത്രത്തോളം നിന്റെ ഉള്ളില് ഇരിക്കും.

14. O Ierusalem, wash thine heart from wickednes, that thou maiest be saued: how long shall thy wicked thoughtes remaine within thee?

15. ദാനില്നിന്നു ഉറക്കെ ഘോഷിക്കുന്നു; എഫ്രയീംമലയില്നിന്നു അനര്ത്ഥത്തെ പ്രസിദ്ധമാക്കുന്നു.

15. For a voyce declareth from Dan, and publisheth affliction from mount Ephraim.

16. ജാതികളോടു പ്രസ്താവിപ്പിന് ; ഇതാ, കോട്ടവളയുന്നവര് ദൂരദേശത്തു നിന്നു വന്നു യെഹൂദാപട്ടണങ്ങള്ക്കു നേരെ ആര്പ്പുവിളിക്കുന്നു എന്നു യെരൂശലേമിനോടു അറിയിപ്പിന് .

16. Make ye mention of the heathen, and publish in Ierusalem, Beholde, the skoutes come from a farre countrey, and crie out against the cities of Iudah.

17. They haue compassed her about as the watchmen of the fielde, because it hath prouoked me to wrath, saith the Lord.

18. നിന്റെ നടപ്പും പ്രവൃത്തികളും ഹേതുവായിട്ടത്രേ ഇവ നിനക്കു വന്നതു; ഇത്ര കൈപ്പായിരിപ്പാനും നിന്റെ ഹൃദയത്തിന്നു തട്ടുവാനും കാരണം നിന്റെ ദുഷ്ടത തന്നേ.

18. Thy wayes and thine inuentions haue procured thee these things, such is thy wickednesse: therefore it shall be bitter, therefore it shall perce vnto thine heart.

19. അയ്യോ എന്റെ ഉദരം, എന്റെ ഉദരം! എനിക്കു നോവു കിട്ടിയിരിക്കുന്നു; അയ്യോ എന്റെ ഹൃദയഭിത്തികള്! എന്റെ നെഞ്ചിടിക്കുന്നു; എനിക്കു മിണ്ടാതെ ഇരുന്നുകൂടാ; എന്റെ ഉള്ളം കാഹളനാദവും യുദ്ധത്തിന്റെ ആര്പ്പുവിളിയും കേട്ടിരിക്കുന്നു.

19. My bely, my bely, I am pained, euen at the very heart: mine heart is troubled within me: I cannot be still: for my soule hath heard the sounde of the trumpet, and the alarme of the battell.

20. നാശത്തിന്മേല് നാശം വിളിച്ചു പറയുന്നു; ദേശമൊക്കെയും ശൂന്യമായി പെട്ടെന്നു എന്റെ കൂടാരങ്ങളും ഒരു ക്ഷണത്തില് എന്റെ തിരശ്ശീലകളും കവര്ച്ചയായ്പോയി.

20. Destruction vpon destruction is cryed, for the whole lande is wasted: suddenly are my tents destroyed, and my curtaines in a moment.

21. എത്രത്തോളം ഞാന് കൊടി കണ്ടു കാഹളധ്വനി കേള്ക്കേണ്ടിവരും?

21. Howe long shall I see the standert, and heare the sounde of the trumpet?

22. എന്റെ ജനം ഭോഷന്മാര്; അവര് എന്നെ അറിയുന്നില്ല; അവര് ബുദ്ധികെട്ട മക്കള്; അവര്ക്കും ഒട്ടും ബോധമില്ല; ദോഷം ചെയ്വാന് അവര് സമര്ത്ഥന്മാര്; നന്മ ചെയ്വാനോ അവര്ക്കും അറിഞ്ഞുകൂടാ.

22. For my people is foolish, they haue not knowen me: they are foolish children, and haue none vnderstanding: they are wise to doe euill, but to doe well they haue no knowledge.

23. ഞാന് ഭൂമിയെ നോക്കി അതിനെ പാഴും ശൂന്യമായി കണ്ടു; ഞാന് ആകാശത്തെ നോക്കി; അതിന്നു പ്രകാശം ഇല്ലാതെയിരുന്നു.

23. I haue looked vpon the earth, and loe, it was without forme and voide: and to the heauens, and they had no light.

24. ഞാന് പര്വ്വതങ്ങളെ നോക്കി; അവ വിറെക്കുന്നതു കണ്ടു; കുന്നുകള് എല്ലാം ആടിക്കൊണ്ടിരുന്നു.

24. I behelde the mountaines: and loe, they trembled and all the hilles shooke.

25. ഞാന് നോക്കി, ഒരു മനുഷ്യനെയും കണ്ടില്ല; ആകാശത്തിലെ പക്ഷികള് ഒക്കെയും പറന്നു പോയിരുന്നു.

25. I behelde, and loe, there was no man, and all the birdes of the heauen were departed.

26. ഞാന് നോക്കി ഉദ്യാനം മരുഭൂമിയായ്തീര്ന്നിരിക്കുന്നതു കണ്ടു; അതിലെ പട്ടണങ്ങളൊക്കെയും യഹോവയാല് അവന്റെ ഉഗ്രകോപം ഹേതുവായി ഇടിഞ്ഞുപോയിരിക്കുന്നു.

26. I behelde, and loe, the fruitfull place was a wildernesse, and all the cities thereof were broken downe at the presence of the Lord, and by his fierce wrath.

27. യഹോവ ഇപ്രകാരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നുദേശമൊക്കെയും ശൂന്യമാകും; എങ്കിലും ഞാന് മുഴുവനായി മുടിച്ചുകളകയില്ല.

27. For thus hath the Lord saide, The whole lande shall be desolate: yet will I not make a full ende.

28. ഇതുനിമിത്തം ഭൂമി വിലപിക്കും; മീതെ ആകാശം കറുത്തു പോകും; ഞാന് നിര്ണ്ണയിച്ചു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നു; ഞാന് അനുതപിക്കയില്ല, പിന് മാറുകയുമില്ല.

28. Therefore shall the earth mourne, and the heauens aboue shall be darkened, because I haue pronounced it: I haue thought it, and will not repent, neither will I turne backe from it.

29. കുതിരച്ചേവകരുടെയും വില്ലാളികളുടെയും ആരവം ഹേതുവായി സകല നഗരവാസികളും ഔടിപ്പോകുന്നു; അവര് പള്ളക്കാടുകളില് ചെന്നു പാറകളിന്മേല് കയറുന്നു; സകല നഗരവും ഉപേക്ഷിക്കപ്പെട്ടിരിക്കുന്നു; ആരും അവിടെ പാര്ക്കുംന്നതുമില്ല.

29. The whole citie shall flee, for the noyse of the horsemen and bowemen: they shall goe into thickets, and clime vp vpon the rockes: euery citie shall be forsaken, and not a man dwell therein.

30. ഇങ്ങനെ ശൂന്യമായ്പോകുമ്പോള് നീ എന്തു ചെയ്യും? നീ രക്താംബരം ധരിച്ചാലും പൊന്നാഭരണം അണിഞ്ഞാലും നിന്റെ കണ്ണില് മഷി എഴുതിയാലും വ്യര്ത്ഥമായി നിനക്കു സൌന്ദര്യം വരുത്തുന്നു; നിന്റെ ജാരന്മാര് നിന്നെ നിരസിച്ചു നിനക്കു പ്രാണഹാനി വരുത്തുവാന് നോക്കുന്നു.

30. And when thou shalt be destroyed, what wilt thou doe? Though thou clothest thy selfe with skarlet, though thou deckest thee with ornaments of golde, though thou paintest thy face with colours, yet shalt thou trimme thy selfe in vaine: for thy louers will abhorre thee and seeke thy life.

31. ഈറ്റുനോവു കിട്ടിയവളുടെ ഒച്ചപോലെയും കടിഞ്ഞൂല്കുട്ടിയെ പ്രസവിക്കുന്നവളുടെ ഞരക്കംപോലെയും ഒരു ശബ്ദം ഞാന് കേട്ടു; നെടുവീര്പ്പിട്ടും കൈമലര്ത്തിയുംകൊണ്ടുഅയ്യോ കഷ്ടം! എന്റെ പ്രാണന് കുലപാതകന്മാരുടെ മുമ്പില് ക്ഷയിച്ചുപോകുന്നു എന്നു പറയുന്ന സീയോന് പുത്രിയുടെ ശബ്ദം തന്നേ.

31. For I haue heard a noyse as of a woman trauailing, or as one labouring of her first child, euen the voyce of the daughter Zion that sigheth and stretcheth out her handes: woe is me nowe: for my soule fainteth because of the murtherers.
