1. സിദെക്കീയാവു വാണുതുടങ്ങിയപ്പോള് അവന്നു ഇരുപത്തൊന്നു വയസ്സായിരുന്നു; അവന് പതിനൊന്നു സംവത്സരം യെരൂശലേമില് വാണു; അവന്റെ അമ്മെക്കു ഹമൂതല് എന്നു പേര്; അവള് ലിബ്നക്കാരനായ യിരെമ്യാവിന്റെ മകള് ആയിരുന്നു.

1. Thus says the LORD: I am going to stir up a destructive wind against Babylon and against the inhabitants of Leb-qamai;

2. യെഹോയാക്കീം ചെയ്തതുപോലെ ഒക്കെയും അവന് യഹോവേക്കു അനിഷ്ടമായുള്ളതു ചെയ്തു.

2. and I will send winnowers to Babylon, and they shall winnow her. They shall empty her land when they come against her from every side on the day of trouble.

3. യഹോവയുടെ കോപം ഹേതുവായി യെരൂശലേമിന്നും യെഹൂദെക്കും അങ്ങനെ ഭവിച്ചു; അവന് ഒടുവില് അവരെ തന്റെ സന്നിധിയില്നിന്നു തള്ളിക്കളഞ്ഞു; എന്നാല് സിദെക്കീയാവു ബാബേല് രാജാവിനോടു മത്സരിച്ചു.

3. Let not the archer bend his bow, and let him not array himself in his coat of mail. Do not spare her young men; utterly destroy her entire army.

4. അവന്റെ വാഴ്ചയുടെ ഒമ്പതാം ആണ്ടില് പത്താം മാസം പത്താം തിയ്യതി, ബാബേല്രാജാവായ നെബൂഖദ്നേസര് തന്റെ സര്വ്വസൈന്യവുമായി യെരൂശലേമിന്റെ നേരെ വന്നു പാളയമിറങ്ങി അതിന്നെതിരെ ചുറ്റും കൊത്തളങ്ങള് പണിതു.

4. They shall fall down slain in the land of the Chaldeans, and wounded in her streets.

5. അങ്ങനെ സിദെക്കീയാരാജാവിന്റെ പതിനൊന്നാം ആണ്ടുവരെ നഗരം നിരോധിക്കപ്പെട്ടിരുന്നു.

5. Israel and Judah have not been forsaken by their God, the LORD of hosts, though their land is full of guilt before the Holy One of Israel.

6. നാലാം മാസം ഒമ്പതാം തിയ്യതി ക്ഷാമം നഗരത്തില് കലശലായി ദേശത്തെ ജനത്തിന്നു ആഹാരമില്ലാതെ ഭവിച്ചു.

6. Flee from the midst of Babylon, save your lives, each of you! Do not perish because of her guilt, for this is the time of the LORD's vengeance; he is repaying her what is due.

7. അപ്പോള് നഗരത്തിന്റെ മതില് ഒരിടം പൊളിച്ചുതുറന്നു; കല്ദയര് നഗരം വളഞ്ഞിരിക്കെ പടയാളികള് ഒക്കെയും രാത്രിസമയത്തു രാജാവിന്റെ തോട്ടത്തിന്നരികെ രണ്ടു മതിലുകളുടെ മദ്ധ്യേയുള്ള പടിവാതില്ക്കല് കൂടി നഗരം വിട്ടു പുറപ്പെട്ടു അരാബയിലേക്കുള്ള വഴിയായി ഔടിപ്പോയി.

7. Babylon was a golden cup in the LORD's hand, making all the earth drunken; the nations drank of her wine, and so the nations went mad.

8. എന്നാല് കല്ദയരുടെ സൈന്യം രാജാവിനെ പിന്തുടര്ന്നു, യെരീഹോസമഭൂമിയില്വെച്ചു സിദെക്കീയാവോടു എത്തി; അവന്റെ സൈന്യമൊക്കെയും അവനെ വിട്ടു ചിതറിപ്പോയി.

8. Suddenly Babylon has fallen and is shattered; wail for her! Bring balm for her wound; perhaps she may be healed.

9. അവര് രാജാവിനെ പിടിച്ചു, ഹമാത്ത് ദേശത്തിലെ രിബ്ളയില് ബാബേല്രാജാവിന്റെ അടുക്കല് കൊണ്ടുചെന്നു; അവന് അവന്നു വിധി കല്പിച്ചു.

9. We tried to heal Babylon, but she could not be healed. Forsake her, and let each of us go to our own country; for her judgment has reached up to heaven and has been lifted up even to the skies.

10. ബാബേല്രാജാവു സിദെക്കീയാവിന്റെ പുത്രന്മാരെ അവന് കാണ്കെ കൊന്നു; യെഹൂദാപ്രഭുക്കന്മാരെ ഒക്കെയും അവന് രിബ്ളയില്വെച്ചു കൊന്നുകളഞ്ഞു.

10. The LORD has brought forth our vindication; come, let us declare in Zion the work of the LORD our God.

11. പിന്നെ അവന് സിദെക്കീയാവിന്റെ കണ്ണു പൊട്ടിച്ചു; ബാബേല്രാജാവു അവനെ ചങ്ങലകൊണ്ടു ബന്ധിച്ചു ബാബേലിലേക്കു കൊണ്ടുചെന്നു ജീവപര്യന്തം കാരാഗൃഹത്തില് ആക്കി.

11. Sharpen the arrows! Fill the quivers! The LORD has stirred up the spirit of the kings of the Medes, because his purpose concerning Babylon is to destroy it, for that is the vengeance of the LORD, vengeance for his temple.

12. അഞ്ചാം മാസം പത്താം തിയ്യതി, ബാബേല്രാജാവായ നെബൂഖദ്നേസരിന്റെ പത്തൊമ്പതാം ആണ്ടില് തന്നേ, ബാബേല്രാജാവിന്റെ തിരുമുമ്പില് നിലക്കുന്നവനും അകമ്പടിനായകനുമായ നെബൂസര്-അദാന് യെരൂശലേമിലേക്കു വന്നു.

12. Raise a standard against the walls of Babylon; make the watch strong; post sentinels; prepare the ambushes; for the LORD has both planned and done what he spoke concerning the inhabitants of Babylon.

13. അവന് യഹോവയുടെ ആലയവും രാജധാനിയും ചുട്ടു, യെരൂശലേമിലെ എല്ലാ വീടുകളും പ്രധാനഭവനങ്ങളൊക്കെയും തീ വെച്ചു ചുട്ടുകളഞ്ഞു.

13. You who live by mighty waters, rich in treasures, your end has come, the thread of your life is cut.

14. അകമ്പടിനായകനോടുകൂടെ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്ന കല്ദയസൈന്യമൊക്കെയും യെരൂശലേമിന്റെ ചുറ്റുമുള്ള മതിലുകളെല്ലാം ഇടിച്ചുകളഞ്ഞു.

14. The LORD of hosts has sworn by himself: Surely I will fill you with troops like a swarm of locusts, and they shall raise a shout of victory over you.

15. ജനത്തില് എളിയവരായ ചിലരെയും നഗരത്തില് ശേഷിച്ചിരുന്ന ജനശിഷ്ടത്തെയും ബാബേല്രാജാവിനെ ചെന്നു ശരണംപ്രാപിച്ചവരെയും പുരുഷാരത്തില് ശേഷിച്ചവരെയും അകമ്പടിനായകനായ നെബൂസര്-അദാന് ബദ്ധരാക്കി കൊണ്ടുപോയി.

15. It is he who made the earth by his power, who established the world by his wisdom, and by his understanding stretched out the heavens.

16. എന്നാല് അകമ്പടിനായകനായ നെബൂസര്-അദാന് ദേശത്തെ എളിയവരില് ചിലരെ മുന്തിരിത്തോട്ടക്കാരായും കൃഷിക്കാരായും വിട്ടേച്ചുപോയി.

16. When he utters his voice there is a tumult of waters in the heavens, and he makes the mist rise from the ends of the earth. He makes lightnings for the rain, and he brings out the wind from his storehouses.

17. യഹോവയുടെ ആലയത്തിലെ താമ്രസ്തംഭങ്ങളും പീഠങ്ങളും യഹോവയുടെ ആലയത്തിലെ താമ്രംകൊണ്ടുള്ള കടലും കല്ദയര് ഉടെച്ചു താമ്രം ഒക്കെയും ബാബേലിലേക്കു കൊണ്ടുപോയി.

17. Everyone is stupid and without knowledge; goldsmiths are all put to shame by their idols; for their images are false, and there is no breath in them.

18. കലങ്ങളും ചട്ടുകങ്ങളും കത്രികകളും കിണ്ണങ്ങളും തവികളും ശുശ്രൂഷെക്കുള്ള സകലതാമ്രോപകരണങ്ങളും അവര് എടുത്തുകൊണ്ടുപോയി.

18. They are worthless, a work of delusion; at the time of their punishment they shall perish.

19. പാനപാത്രങ്ങളും തീച്ചട്ടികളും കിണ്ണങ്ങളും കലങ്ങളും വിളകൂതണ്ടുകളും തവികളും കുടങ്ങളും പൊന്നുകൊണ്ടുള്ളതും വെള്ളികൊണ്ടുള്ളതും എല്ലാം അകമ്പടിനായകന് കൊണ്ടുപോയി.

19. Not like these is the LORD, the portion of Jacob, for he is the one who formed all things, and Israel is the tribe of his inheritance; the LORD of hosts is his name.

20. ശലോമോന് രാജാവു യഹോവയുടെ ആലയംവകെക്കു ഉണ്ടാക്കിയ രണ്ടു സ്തംഭവും ഒരു കടലും പീഠങ്ങളുടെ കീഴെ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്ന പന്ത്രണ്ടു താമ്രക്കാളയും തന്നേ; ഈ സകലസാധനങ്ങളുടെയും താമ്രത്തിന്നു തൂക്കമില്ലാതെയിരുന്നു.

20. You are my war club, my weapon of battle: with you I smash nations; with you I destroy kingdoms;

21. സ്തംഭങ്ങളോ, ഔരോന്നു പതിനെട്ടു മുഴം ഉയരവും പന്ത്രണ്ടു മുഴം ചുറ്റളവും നാലു വിരല് കനവും ഉള്ളതായിരുന്നു; അതു പൊള്ളയുമായിരുന്നു.

21. with you I smash the horse and its rider; with you I smash the chariot and the charioteer;

22. അതിന്മേല് താമ്രംകൊണ്ടു ഒരു പോതിക ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു; പോതികയുടെ ഉയരം അഞ്ചു മുഴം പോതികമേല് ചുറ്റും വലപ്പണിയും മാതളപ്പഴവും ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു; സകലവും താമ്രംകൊണ്ടായിരുന്നു; രണ്ടാമത്തെ സ്തംഭത്തിന്നു ഇതുപോലെയുള്ള പണിയും മാതളപ്പഴവും ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു.

22. with you I smash man and woman; with you I smash the old man and the boy; with you I smash the young man and the girl;

23. നാലുപുറത്തുംകൂടെ തൊണ്ണൂറ്റാറു മാതളപ്പഴവും ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നുവലപ്പണിയില് ചുറ്റുമുള്ള മാതളപ്പഴം ആകെ നൂറു ആയിരുന്നു.

23. with you I smash shepherds and their flocks; with you I smash farmers and their teams; with you I smash governors and deputies.

24. അകമ്പടിനായകന് മഹാപുരോഹിതനായ സെരായാവെയും രണ്ടാം പുരോഹിതനായ സെഫന്യാവെയും മൂന്നു വാതില്കാവല്ക്കാരെയും പിടിച്ചുകൊണ്ടുപോയി.

24. I will repay Babylon and all the inhabitants of Chaldea before your very eyes for all the wrong that they have done in Zion, says the LORD.

25. നഗരത്തില്നിന്നു അവന് യോദ്ധാക്കളുടെ വിചാരകനായ ഒരു ഷണ്ഡനെയും നഗരത്തില്വെച്ചു കണ്ട ഏഴു രാജപരിചാരകന്മാരെയും ദേശത്തിലെ ജനത്തെ പടെക്കു ശേഖരിക്കുന്ന സേനാപതിയുടെ രായസക്കാരനെയും നഗരത്തില് കണ്ട അറുപതു നാട്ടുപുറക്കാരെയും പിടിച്ചു കൊണ്ടുപോയി.

25. I am against you, O destroying mountain, says the LORD, that destroys the whole earth; I will stretch out my hand against you, and roll you down from the crags, and make you a burned-out mountain.

26. ഇവരെ അകമ്പടിനായകനായ നെബൂസര്-അദാന് പിടിച്ചു രിബ്ളയില് ബാബേല്രാജാവിന്റെ അടുക്കല് കൊണ്ടുചെന്നു.

26. No stone shall be taken from you for a corner and no stone for a foundation, but you shall be a perpetual waste, says the LORD.

27. ബാബേല്രാജാവു ഹമാത്ത് ദേശത്തിലെ രിബ്ളയില്വെച്ചു അവരെ വെട്ടിക്കൊന്നു; ഇങ്ങനെ യെഹൂദാ സ്വദേശം വിട്ടു പ്രവാസത്തിലേക്കു പോകേണ്ടിവന്നു.

27. Raise a standard in the land, blow the trumpet among the nations; prepare the nations for war against her, summon against her the kingdoms, Ararat, Minni, and Ashkenaz; appoint a marshal against her, bring up horses like bristling locusts.

28. നെബൂഖദ്നേസര് പ്രവാസത്തിലേക്കു കൊണ്ടുപോയ ജനംഏഴാം ആണ്ടില് മൂവായിരത്തിരുപത്തുമൂന്നു യെഹൂദന്മാര്;

28. Prepare the nations for war against her, the kings of the Medes, with their governors and deputies, and every land under their dominion.

29. നെബൂഖദ്നേസരിന്റെ പതിനെട്ടാം ആണ്ടില് അവന് യെരൂശലേമില്നിന്നു പ്രവാസത്തിലേക്കു കൊണ്ടുപോയ എണ്ണൂറ്റിമുപ്പത്തുരണ്ടു പേര്;

29. The land trembles and writhes, for the LORD's purposes against Babylon stand, to make the land of Babylon a desolation, without inhabitant.

30. നെബൂഖദ്നേസരിന്റെ ഇരുപത്തുമൂന്നാം ആണ്ടില്, അകമ്പടിനായകനായ നെബൂസര്-അദാന് പ്രവാസത്തിലേക്കു കൊണ്ടുപോയ യെഹൂദന്മാര് എഴുനൂറ്റി നാല്പത്തഞ്ചുപേര്; ഇങ്ങനെ ആകെ നാലായിരത്തറുനൂറു പേരായിരുന്നു.

30. The warriors of Babylon have given up fighting, they remain in their strongholds; their strength has failed, they have become women; her buildings are set on fire, her bars are broken.

31. യെഹൂദാരാജാവായ യെഹോയാഖീന്റെ പ്രവാസത്തിന്റെ മുപ്പത്തേഴാമാണ്ടില് പന്ത്രണ്ടാം മാസം ഇരുപത്തഞ്ചാം തിയ്യതി ബാബേല്രാജാവായ എവീല്-മെരോദക് തന്റെ വാഴ്ചയുടെ ഒന്നാം ആണ്ടില് യെഹൂദാരാജാവായ യെഹോയാഖീനെ കടാക്ഷിച്ചു കാരാഗൃഹത്തില്നിന്നു വിടുവിച്ചു,

31. One runner runs to meet another, and one messenger to meet another, to tell the king of Babylon that his city is taken from end to end:

32. അവനോടു ആദരവായി സംസാരിച്ചു, അവന്റെ ആസനത്തെ തന്നോടു കൂടെ ബാബേലില് ഉള്ള രാജാക്കന്മാരുടെ ആസനങ്ങള്ക്കു മേലായി വെച്ചു,

32. the fords have been seized, the marshes have been burned with fire, and the soldiers are in panic.

33. അവന്റെ കാരാഗൃഹവസ്ത്രം മാറ്റി, അവന് ജീവപര്യന്തം നിത്യവും അവന്റെ സന്നിധിയില് ഭക്ഷണം കഴിച്ചുപോന്നു.

33. For thus says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel: Daughter Babylon is like a threshing floor at the time when it is trodden; yet a little while and the time of her harvest will come.

34. അവന്റെ അഹോവൃത്തിയോ ബാബേല്രാജാവു അവന്നു അവന്റെ മരണദിവസംവരെ അവന്റെ ജീവകാലമൊക്കെയും നിത്യവൃത്തിക്കു ദിവസം പ്രതിയുള്ള ഔഹരി കൊടുത്തുപോന്നു.

34. King Nebuchadrezzar of Babylon has devoured me, he has crushed me; he has made me an empty vessel, he has swallowed me like a monster; he has filled his belly with my delicacies, he has spewed me out.
