1. യഹോവയുടെ അരുളപ്പാടു എനിക്കുണ്ടായതെന്തെന്നാല്

1. Then the word of the LORD came to me, saying:

2. മനുഷ്യപുത്രാ, കാട്ടിലെ വൃക്ഷങ്ങളുടെ ഇടയില് ഒരു ചെടിയായിരിക്കുന്ന മുന്തിരിവള്ളിക്കു മറ്റു മരത്തെക്കാള് എന്തു വിശേഷതയുള്ളു?

2. 'Son of man, how is the wood of the vine [better] than any other wood, the vine branch which is among the trees of the forest?

3. വല്ല പണിക്കും കൊള്ളിപ്പാന് അതില്നിന്നു മരം എടുക്കാമോ? എല്ല സാധനവും തൂക്കിയിടേണ്ടതിന്നു അതുകൊണ്ടു ഒരാണി ഉണ്ടാക്കാമോ?

3. 'Is wood taken from it to make any object? Or can [men] make a peg from it to hang any vessel on?

4. അതിനെ തീക്കു ഇരയായി കൊടുക്കുന്നു; തീ അതിന്റെ രണ്ടു അറ്റവും ദഹിപ്പിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു; അതിന്റെ നടുമുറിയും വെന്തിരിക്കുന്നു ഇനി അതു വല്ല പണിക്കും കൊള്ളുമോ?

4. 'Instead, it is thrown into the fire for fuel; the fire devours both ends of it, and its middle is burned. Is it useful for [any] work?

5. അതു മുഴുവനായിരുന്നപ്പോള്തന്നേ ഒരു പണിക്കും കൊള്ളാതിരുന്നു; തീ അതിനെ ദഹിപ്പിക്കയും അതു ദഹിച്ചുപോകയും ചെയ്തശേഷം വല്ല പണിക്കും കൊള്ളുമോ?

5. 'Indeed, when it was whole, no object could be made from it. How much less will it be useful for [any] work when the fire has devoured it, and it is burned?

6. അതുകൊണ്ടു യഹോവയായ കര്ത്താവു ഇപ്രകാരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നുകാട്ടിലെ വൃക്ഷങ്ങളില് ഞാന് തീക്കിരിയാക്കിക്കൊടുത്ത മുന്തിരിവള്ളിയെപ്പോലെ ഞാന് യെരൂശലേം നിവാസികളെയും ആക്കും.

6. ' Therefore thus says the Lord GOD: 'Like the wood of the vine among the trees of the forest, which I have given to the fire for fuel, so I will give up the inhabitants of Jerusalem;

7. ഞാന് അവര്ക്കും വിരോധമായി മുഖം തിരിക്കും; അവര് തീയില്നിന്നു പുറപ്പെട്ടിരിക്കുന്നു എങ്കിലും അവര് തീക്കു ഇരയായിത്തീരും; ഞാന് അവര്ക്കും വിരോധമായി മുഖം തിരിക്കുമ്പോള് ഞാന് യഹോവ എന്നു നിങ്ങള് അറിയും.

7. 'and I will set My face against them. They will go out from [one] fire, but [another] fire shall devour them. Then you shall know that I [am] the LORD, when I set My face against them.

8. അവര് ദ്രോഹം ചെയ്കകൊണ്ടു ഞാന് ദേശത്തെ ശൂന്യമാക്കും എന്നു യഹോവയായ കര്ത്താവിന്റെ അരുളപ്പാടു

8. 'Thus I will make the land desolate, because they have persisted in unfaithfulness,' says the Lord GOD.'
