1. ഞാനോ മേദ്യനായ ദാര്യ്യാവേശിന്റെ ഒന്നാം ആണ്ടില് അവനെ ഉറപ്പിപ്പാനും ബലപ്പെടുത്തുവാനും എഴുന്നേറ്റുനിന്നു.

1. And as for me, in the first year of Darius the Mede, I stood up to confirm and strengthen him.

2. ഇപ്പോഴോ, ഞാന് നിന്നോടു സത്യം അറിയിക്കാംപാര്സിദേശത്തു ഇനി മൂന്നു രാജാക്കന്മാര് എഴുന്നേലക്കും; നാലാമത്തവന് എല്ലാവരിലും അധികം ധനവാനായിരിക്കും; അവന് ധനംകൊണ്ടു ശക്തിപ്പെട്ടുവരുമ്പോള് എല്ലാവരെയും യവനരാജ്യത്തിന്നു നേരെ ഉദ്യോഗിപ്പിക്കും.

2. And now I will show you the truth. Look, there will stand up yet three kings in Persia; and the fourth will be far richer than all of them: and when he is waxed strong through his riches, he will stir up all against the realm of Greece.

3. പിന്നെ വിക്രമനായൊരു രാജാവു എഴുന്നേലക്കും; അവന് വലിയ അധികാരത്തോടെ വാണു ഇഷ്ടംപോലെ പ്രവര്ത്തിക്കും.

3. And a mighty king will stand up, that will rule with great dominion, and do according to his will.

4. അവന് നിലക്കുമ്പോള് തന്നേ, അവന്റെ രാജ്യം തകര്ന്നു, ആകാശത്തിലെ നാലു കാറ്റിലേക്കും ഭേദിച്ചു പോകും; അതു അവന്റെ സന്തതിക്കല്ല അവന് വാണിരുന്ന അധികാരംപോലയുമല്ല അവന്റെ രാജത്വം നിര്മ്മൂലമായി അവര്ക്കല്ല അന്യര്ക്കും അധീനമാകും.

4. And when he will stand up, his kingdom will be broken, and will be divided toward the four winds of heaven, but not to his posterity, nor according to his dominion with which he ruled; for his kingdom will be plucked up, even for others besides these.

5. എന്നാല് തെക്കെ ദേശത്തിലെ രാജാവു പ്രാബല്യം പ്രാപിക്കും; അവന്റെ പ്രഭുക്കന്മാരില് ഒരുത്തന് അവനെക്കാള് പ്രബലനായി വാഴും; അവന്റെ ആധിപത്യം മഹാധിപത്യമായ്തീരും.

5. And the king of the south will be strong, and [one] of his princes; and he will be strong above him, and have dominion; his dominion will be a great dominion.

6. കുറെക്കാലം കഴിഞ്ഞിട്ടു അവര് തമ്മില് ഏകോപിക്കും; തെക്കെ ദേശത്തിലെ രാജാവിന്റെ മകള് വടക്കെദേശത്തിലെ രാജാവിന്റെ അടുക്കല് ഉടമ്പടി ചെയ്വാന് വരും; എങ്കിലും അതു നില്ക്കയില്ല; അവനും അവന്റെ സാഹിത്യവും നിലനില്ക്കയുമില്ല; അവളും അവളെ കൊണ്ടുചെന്നവരും അവളുടെ ജനകനും അവളെ തുണെച്ചവനും ഭീതിവിഷയങ്ങളായ്തീരും.

6. And at the end of years they will join themselves together; and the daughter of the king of the south will come to the king of the north to make an agreement: but she will not retain the strength of her arm; neither will he stand, nor his arm; but she will be given up, and those who brought her, and he who begot her, and he who strengthened her in those times.

7. എന്നാല് അവന്നു പകരം അവളുടെ വേരില്നിന്നു മുളെച്ച തൈയായ ഒരുവന് എഴുന്നേലക്കും; അവന് ബലം പ്രാപിച്ചു വടക്കെദേശത്തിലെ രാജാവിന്റെ കോട്ടയില് കടന്നു അവരുടെ നേരെ പ്രവര്ത്തിച്ചു ജയിക്കും.

7. But out of a shoot from her roots will one stand up in his place, who will come to the army, and will enter into the fortress of the king of the north, and will deal against them, and will prevail.

8. അവരുടെ ദേവന്മാരെയും ബിംബങ്ങളെയും വെള്ളിയും പൊന്നുംകൊണ്ടുള്ള മനോഹരവസ്തുക്കളെയും അവന് എടുത്തു മിസ്രയീമിലേക്കു കൊണ്ടുപോകും; പിന്നെ അവന് കുറെ സംവത്സരത്തോളം വടക്കെദേശത്തിലെ രാജാവിനോടു പൊരുതാതിരിക്കും.

8. And also their gods, with their molten images, [and] with their goodly vessels of silver and of gold, he will carry captive into Egypt; and he will refrain some years from the king of the north.

9. അവന് തെക്കെ ദേശത്തിലെ രാജാവിന്റെ രാജ്യത്തേക്കു ചെന്നു സ്വദേശത്തേക്കു മടങ്ങിപ്പോരും.

9. And he will come into the realm of the king of the south, but he will return into his own land.

10. അവന്റെ പുത്രന്മാരോ വീണ്ടും യുദ്ധം ആരംഭിക്കയും ബഹുപുരുഷാരം അടങ്ങിയ മഹാസൈന്യങ്ങളെ ശേഖരിക്കയും ചെയ്യും; അതു വന്നു കവിഞ്ഞു കടന്നുപോകും; പിന്നെ അവന് മടങ്ങിച്ചെന്നു അവന്റെ കോട്ടവരെ യുദ്ധം നടത്തും

10. And his sons will war, and will assemble a multitude of great forces, which will come upon, and overflow, and pass through; and they will return and war, even to his fortress.

11. അപ്പോള് തെക്കെദേശത്തിലെ രാജാവു ദ്വേഷ്യംപൂണ്ടു പുറപ്പെട്ടു വടക്കെദേശത്തിലെ രാജാവിനോടു യുദ്ധം ചെയ്യും; അവന് വലിയോരു സമൂഹത്തെ അണിനിരത്തും; എന്നാല് ആ സമൂഹം മറ്റവന്റെ കയ്യില് ഏല്പിക്കപ്പെടും.

11. And the king of the south will be moved with anger, and will come forth and fight with him, even with the king of the north; and he will set forth a great multitude, and the multitude will be given into his hand.

12. ആ ജനസമൂഹം മുടിഞ്ഞുപോകും; അവന്റെ ഹൃദയം ഗര്വ്വിച്ചു, അവന് പതിനായിരം പതിനായിരം പേരെ വീഴുമാറാക്കും; എങ്കിലും അവന് പ്രാബല്യം പ്രാപിക്കയില്ല.

12. And the multitude will be lifted up, and his heart will be exalted; and he will cast down tens of thousands, but he will not prevail.

13. വടക്കെദേശത്തിലെ രാജാവു മടങ്ങിവന്നു, മുമ്പിലത്തേതിനെക്കാള് വലിയോരു ജനസമൂഹത്തെ അണിനിരത്തും; ചില സംവത്സരം കഴിഞ്ഞിട്ടു അവന് വലിയോരു സൈന്യത്തോടും വളരെ സമ്പത്തോടുംകൂടെ പോരും.

13. And the king of the north will return, and will set forth a multitude greater than the former; and he will come upon at the end of the times, [even of] years, with a great army and with much substance.

14. ആ കാലത്തു പലരും തെക്കെദേശത്തിലെ രാജാവിന്റെ നേരെ എഴുന്നേലക്കും; നിന്റെ ജനത്തിലുള്ള അക്രമികള് ദര്ശനത്തെ നിവര്ത്തിപ്പാന് തക്കവണ്ണം മത്സരിക്കും; എങ്കിലും അവര് ഇടറിവീഴും.

14. And in those times there will many stand up against the king of the south: also the sons of the violent among your people will lift themselves up to establish the vision; but they will fall.

15. എന്നാല് വടക്കെദേശത്തിലെ രാജാവു വന്നു വാടകോരി ഉറപ്പുള്ള പട്ടണങ്ങളെ പിടിക്കും; തെക്കെപടക്കൂട്ടങ്ങളും അവന്റെ ശ്രേഷ്ഠജനവും ഉറെച്ചുനില്ക്കയില്ല; ഉറെച്ചുനില്പാന് അവര്ക്കും ശക്തിയുണ്ടാകയുമില്ല.

15. So the king of the north will come, and cast up a mound, and take a well-fortified city: and the forces of the south will not stand, neither his chosen people, neither will there be any strength to stand.

16. അവന്റെ നേരെ വരുന്നവന് ഇഷ്ടംപോലെ പ്രവര്ത്തിക്കും. ആരും അവന്റെ മുമ്പാകെ നില്ക്കയില്ല; അവന് മനോഹരദേശത്തുനിലക്കും; അവന്റെ കയ്യില് സംഹാരം ഉണ്ടായിരിക്കും.

16. But he who comes against him will do according to his own will, and none will stand before him; and he will stand in the glorious land, and in his hand will be destruction.

17. അവന് തന്റെ സര്വ്വരാജ്യത്തിന്റെയും ശക്തിയോടുകൂടെ വരുവാന് താല്പര്യം വേക്കും; എന്നാല് അവന് അവനോടു ഒരു ഉടമ്പടി ചെയ്തു, അവന്നു നാശത്തിന്നായി തന്റെ മകളെ ഭാര്യയായി കൊടുക്കും; എങ്കിലും അവള് നില്ക്കയില്ല; അവന്നു ഇരിക്കയുമില്ല.

17. And he will set his face to come with the strength of his whole kingdom, and he had equitable conditions, and performed them: and he will give him the daughter of women, to corrupt her; but she will not stand, neither be for him.

18. പിന്നെ അവന് തീരപ്രദേശങ്ങളിലേക്കു മുഖം തിരിച്ചു പലതും പിടിക്കും; എന്നാല് അവന് കാണിച്ച നിന്ദ ഒരു അധിപതി നിര്ത്തലാക്കും; അത്രയുമല്ല, അവന്റെ നിന്ദ അവന്റെമേല് തന്നേ വരുത്തും.

18. After this he will turn his face to the isles, and will take many: but a prince will cause the reproach offered by him to cease; moreover, he will cause his reproach to turn on him.

19. പിന്നെ അവന് സ്വദേശത്തിലെ കോട്ടകളുടെ നേരെ മുഖം തിരിക്കും; എങ്കിലും അവന് ഇടറിവീണു, ഇല്ലാതെയാകും;

19. Then he will turn his face toward the fortresses of his own land; but he will stumble and fall, and will not be found.

20. അവന്നു പകരം എഴുന്നേലക്കുന്നവന് തന്റെ രാജ്യത്തിന്റെ മനോഹരഭാഗത്തുകൂടി ഒരു അപഹാരിയെ അയ്യക്കും; എങ്കിലും കുറെ ദിവസത്തിന്നകം അവന് സംഹരിക്കപ്പെടും. കോപത്താലല്ല, യുദ്ധത്താലുമല്ല.

20. Then in his place one will stand up that will cause an exactor to pass through the glory of the kingdom; but within few days he will be destroyed, neither in anger, nor in battle.

21. അവന്നു പകരം നിന്ദ്യനായ ഒരുത്തന് എഴുന്നേലക്കും; അവന്നു അവര് രാജത്വത്തിന്റെ പദവി കൊടുപ്പാന് വിചാരിച്ചിരുന്നില്ല; എങ്കിലും അവന് സമാധാനകാലത്തു വന്നു ഉപായത്തോടെ രാജത്വം കൈവശമാക്കും.

21. And in his place will stand up a contemptible person, to whom they had not given the grandeur of the kingdom: but he will come in time of security, and will obtain the kingdom by flatteries.

22. പ്രാളയതുല്യമായ സൈന്യങ്ങളും നിയമത്തിന്റെ പ്രഭുവും കൂടെ അവന്റെ മുമ്പില് പ്രവഹിക്കപ്പെട്ടു തകര്ന്നുപോകും.

22. And the flooding forces will be flooded away from before him, and will be broken; and also the leader of the covenant.

23. ആരെങ്കിലും അവനോടു സഖ്യത ചെയ്താല് അവന് വഞ്ചന പ്രവര്ത്തിക്കും; അവന് പുറപ്പെട്ടു അല്പം പടജ്ജനവുമായി വന്നു ജയം പ്രാപിക്കും.

23. And after the league made with him he will work deceitfully; for he will come up, and will become strong, with a small people.

24. അവന് സമാധാനകാലത്തു തന്നേ സംസ്ഥാനത്തിലെ പുഷ്ടിയേറിയ സ്ഥലങ്ങളില് വന്നു, തന്റെ പിതാക്കന്മാരോ പിതാമഹന്മാരോ ഒരുനാളും ചെയ്യാത്തതു ചെയ്യും; അവന് കവര്ച്ചയും കൊള്ളയും സമ്പത്തും അവര്ക്കും വിതറിക്കൊടുക്കും; അവന് കോട്ടകളുടെ നേരെ ഉപായം പ്രയോഗിക്കും; എന്നാല് കുറെക്കാലത്തേക്കേയുള്ളു.

24. In time of security he will come even on the fattest places of the province; and he will do that which his fathers have not done, nor his fathers' fathers; he will scatter among them prey, and spoil, and substance: yes, he will devise his devices against the strongholds, even for a time.

25. അവന് ഒരു മഹാസൈന്യത്തോടു കൂടെ തെക്കെദേശത്തിലെ രാജാവിന്റെ നേരെ തന്റെ ശക്തിയും ധൈര്യവും പ്രയോഗിക്കും; തെക്കെദേശത്തിലെ രാജാവും ഏറ്റവും വലിയതും ശക്തിയേറിയതുമായ സൈന്യത്തോടുകൂടെ യുദ്ധത്തിന്നു പുറപ്പെടും; എങ്കിലും അവര് അവന്റെ നേരെ ഉപായം പ്രയോഗിക്കകൊണ്ടു അവന് ഉറെച്ചു നില്ക്കയില്ല.

25. And he will stir up his power and his courage against the king of the south with a great army; and the king of the south will war in battle with an exceedingly great and mighty army; but he will not stand; for they will devise devices against him.

26. അവന്റെ അന്നംകൊണ്ടു ഉപജീവനം കഴിക്കുന്നവന് അവനെ നശിപ്പിക്കും; അവന്റെ സൈന്യം ഒഴുകിപ്പേകും; പലരും നിഹതന്മാരായി വീഴും.

26. Yes, those who eat of his dainties will destroy him, and his army will flood; and many will fall down slain.

27. ഈ രാജാക്കന്മാര് ഇരുവരും ദുഷ്ടത പ്രവര്ത്തിപ്പാന് ഭാവിച്ചുംകൊണ്ടു ഒരേ മേശയിങ്കല്വെച്ചു ഭോഷകു സംസാരിക്കും; എങ്കിലും അതു സാധിക്കയില്ല; നിയമിക്കപ്പെട്ട സമയത്തു മാത്രമേ അവസാനം വരികയുള്ളു.

27. And as for both these kings, their hearts will be to do mischief, and they will speak lies at one table: but it will not prosper; for yet the end will be at the time appointed.

28. പിന്നെ അവന് വളരെ സമ്പത്തോടുംകൂടെ സ്വദേശത്തേക്കു മടങ്ങിപ്പോകും; അവന് വിശുദ്ധ നിയമത്തിന്നു വിരോധമായി മനോഗതം വെച്ചു, അതു അനുഷ്ഠിച്ചു സ്വദേശത്തേക്കു മടങ്ങിപ്പോകും.

28. Then he will return into his land with great substance; and his heart [will be] against the holy covenant; and he will do [his pleasure], and return to his own land.

29. നിയമിക്കപ്പെട്ട കാലത്തു അവന് വീണ്ടും തെക്കോട്ടു വരും; എങ്കിലും ഈ പ്രാവശ്യം മുമ്പിലത്തെപ്പോലെ സാദ്ധ്യമാകയില്ല.

29. At the time appointed he will return, and come into the south; but it will not be in the latter time as it was in the former.

30. കിത്തീംകപ്പലുകള് അവന്റെ നേരെ വരും; അതുകൊണ്ടു അവന് വ്യസനിച്ചു മടങ്ങിച്ചെന്നു, വിശുദ്ധനിയമത്തിന്നു നേരെ ക്രുദ്ധിച്ചു പ്രവര്ത്തിക്കും; അവന് മടങ്ങിച്ചെന്നു വിശുദ്ധനിയമത്തെ ഉപേക്ഷിക്കുന്നവരെ ആദരിച്ചുകൊള്ളും.

30. For ships of Kittim will come against him; therefore he will be grieved, and will return, and have indignation against the holy covenant, and will do [his pleasure]: he will even return, and have regard to those who forsake the holy covenant.

31. അവന് അയച്ച സൈന്യങ്ങള് അണിനിരന്നു, വിശുദ്ധമന്ദിരമായ കോട്ടയെ അശുദ്ധമാക്കി നിരന്തരഹോമം നിര്ത്തല്ചെയ്തു ശൂന്യമാക്കുന്ന മ്ളേച്ഛ ബിംബത്തെ പ്രതിഷ്ഠിക്കും.

31. And forces will stand on his part, and they will profane the sanctuary, even the fortress, and will take away the continual [burnt-offering], and they will set up the detestable thing that makes desolate.

32. നിയമത്തിന്നു വിരോധമായി ദുഷ്ടത പ്രവര്ത്തിക്കുന്നവരെ അവന് ഉപായംകൊണ്ടു വഷളാക്കും; എങ്കിലും തങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവത്തെ അറിയുന്ന ജനം ഉറെച്ചുനിന്നു വീര്യം പ്രവര്ത്തിക്കും.

32. And such as do wickedly against the covenant he will pervert by flatteries; but the people who know their God will be strong, and do [exploits].

33. ജനത്തില് ബുദ്ധിമാന്മാരായവര് പലര്ക്കും ബോധം വരുത്തും; എങ്കിലും കുറെക്കാലത്തേക്കു അവര് വാള് കൊണ്ടും തീകൊണ്ടും പ്രവാസംകൊണ്ടും കവര്ച്ചകൊണ്ടും വീണുകൊണ്ടിരിക്കും;

33. And those who are wise among the people will instruct many; yet they will fall by the sword and by flame, by captivity and by spoil, [many] days.

34. വീഴുമ്പോള് അവര് അല്പസഹായത്താല് രക്ഷപ്രാപിക്കും; പലരും കപടഭാവത്തോടെ അവരോടു ചേര്ന്നുകൊള്ളും.

34. Now when they will fall, they will be helped with a little help; but many will join themselves to them with flatteries.

35. എന്നാല് അന്ത്യകാലംവരെ അവരില് പരിശോധനയും ശുദ്ധീകരണവും നിര്മ്മലീകരണവും സാധിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു ബുദ്ധിമാന്മാരില് ചിലര് വീഴും; നിശ്ചയിക്കപ്പെട്ടകാലത്തു മാത്രം അന്തം വരും.

35. And some of those who are wise will fall, to refine among them, and to purify, and to make them white, even to the time of the end; because it is yet for the time appointed.

36. രാജാവേ, ഇഷ്ടംപോലെ പ്രവര്ത്തിക്കും; അവന് തന്നെത്താന് ഉയര്ത്തി, ഏതു ദേവന്നും മേലായി മഹത്വീകരിക്കയും ദൈവാധിദൈവത്തിന്റെ നേരെ അപൂര്വ്വകാര്യങ്ങളെ സംസാരിക്കയും, കോപം നിവൃത്തിയാകുവോളം അവന്നു സാധിക്കയും ചെയ്യും; നിര്ണ്ണയിക്കപ്പെട്ടിരിക്കുന്നതു സംഭവിക്കുമല്ലോ.

36. And the king will do according to his will; and he will exalt himself, and magnify himself above every god, and will speak marvelous things against the God of gods; and he will prosper until the indignation is accomplished; for that which is determined will be done.

37. അവന് എല്ലാറ്റിന്നും മേലായി തന്നെത്താല് മഹത്വീകരിക്കയാല് തന്റെ പിതാക്കന്മാരുടെ ദേവന്മാരെയും സ്ത്രീകളുടെ ഇഷ്ടദേവനെയും യാതൊരു ദേവനെയും കൂട്ടാക്കുകയില്ല.

37. Neither will he regard the gods of his fathers, nor the desire of women, nor regard any god; for he will magnify himself above all.

38. അതിന്നു പകരം അവന് കോട്ടകളുടെ ദേവനെ ബഹുമാനിക്കും; അവന്റെ പിതാക്കന്മാര് അറിയാത്ത ഒരു ദേവനെ അവന് പൊന്നു കൊണ്ടും വെള്ളികൊണ്ടും രത്നങ്ങള്കൊണ്ടും മനോഹരവസ്തുക്കള്കൊണ്ടും ബഹുമാനിക്കും.

38. But in his place he will honor the god of fortresses; and a god whom his fathers did not know he will honor with gold, and silver, and with precious stones, and pleasant things.

39. അവന് ഒരു അന്യദേവന്റെ ജനത്തെ കോട്ടകളുടെ കൊത്തളങ്ങളിന്മേല് ആക്കിവേക്കും; അവനെ സ്വീകരിക്കുന്നവന്നു അവന് മഹത്വം വര്ദ്ധിപ്പിക്കും; അവന് അവരെ പലര്ക്കും അധിപതികളാക്കി ദേശത്തെ പ്രതിഫലമായി വിഭാഗിച്ചുകൊടുക്കും.

39. And he will deal with the strongest fortresses by the help of a foreign god: whoever acknowledges [him] he will increase with glory; and he will cause them to rule over many, and will divide the land for a price.

40. പിന്നെ അന്ത്യകാലത്തു തെക്കെദേശത്തിലെ രാജാവു അവനോടു എതിര്ത്തുമുട്ടും; വടക്കെ ദേശത്തിലെ രാജാവു രഥങ്ങളോടും കുതിരച്ചേവകരോടും വളരെ കപ്പലുകളോടും കൂടെ ചുഴലിക്കാറ്റുപോലെ അവന്റെ നേരെ വരും; അവന് ദേശങ്ങളിലേക്കു വന്നു കവിഞ്ഞു കടന്നുപോകും;

40. And at the time of the end the king of the south will contend with him; and the king of the north will come against him like a whirlwind, with chariots, and with horsemen, and with many ships; and he will enter into the countries, and will flood and pass through.

41. അവന് മനോഹരദേശത്തിലേക്കും കടക്കും; പതിനായിരം പതിനായിരം പേര് ഇടറിവീഴും; എങ്കിലും എദോമും മോവാബും അമ്മോന്യശ്രേഷ്ഠന്മാരും അവന്റെ കയ്യില് നിന്നു വഴുതിപ്പോകും.

41. He will enter also into the glorious land, and tens of thousands will be overthrown; but these will be delivered out of his hand: Edom, and Moab, and the chief of the sons of Ammon.

42. അവന് ദേശങ്ങളുടെ നേരെ കൈ നീട്ടും; മിസ്രയീംദേശവും ഒഴിഞ്ഞുപോകയില്ല.

42. He will stretch forth his hand also on the countries; and the land of Egypt will not escape.

43. അവന് പൊന്നും വെള്ളിയുമായ നിക്ഷേപങ്ങളെയും മിസ്രയീമിലെ മനോഹര വസ്തുക്കളെയും കൈവശമാക്കും; ലൂബ്യരും കൂശ്യരും അവന്റെ അനുചാരികള് ആയിരിക്കും.

43. But he will have power over the treasures of gold and of silver, and over all the precious things of Egypt; and the Libyans and the Ethiopians will be at his steps.

44. എന്നാല് കിഴക്കുനിന്നും വടക്കുനിന്നും ഉള്ള വര്ത്തമാനങ്ങളാല് അവന് പരവശനാകും; അങ്ങനെ അവന് പലരെയും നശിപ്പിച്ചു നിര്മ്മൂലനാശം വരുത്തേണ്ടതിന്നു മഹാ ക്രോധത്തോടെ പുറപ്പെടും. പിന്നെ അവന് സമുദ്രത്തിന്നും മഹത്വമുള്ള വിശുദ്ധപര്വ്വതത്തിന്നും മദ്ധ്യേ മണിപ്പന്തല് ഇടും; അവിടെ അവന് അന്തരിക്കും; ആരും അവനെ രക്ഷിക്കയുമില്ല.

44. But news out of the east and out of the north will trouble him; and he will go forth with great fury to destroy and to completely sweep away many.
