1. രാജ്യം ഒക്കെയും ഭരിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു രാജ്യത്തിന്മേല് നൂറ്റിരുപതു പ്രധാന ദേശാധിപതികളെയും

1. Darius was pleased to put over the kingdom a hundred and twenty captains, who were to be all through the kingdom;

2. അവരുടെമേല് മൂന്നു അദ്ധ്യക്ഷന്മാരെയും നിയമിപ്പാന് ദാര്യ്യാവേശിന്നു ഇഷ്ടം തോന്നി; ഈ മൂവരില് ദാനീയേല് ഒരുവനായിരുന്നു. രാജാവിന്നു നഷ്ടം വരാതിരിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു പ്രധാനദേശാധിപതികള് ഇവര്ക്കും കണകൂ ബോധിപ്പിക്കേണ്ടതായിരുന്നു.

2. And over them were three chief rulers, of whom Daniel was one; and the captains were to be responsible to the chief rulers, so that the king might undergo no loss.

3. എന്നാല് ദാനീയേല് ഉള്കൃഷ്ടമാനസനായിരുന്നതുകൊണ്ടു അവന് അദ്ധ്യക്ഷന്മാരിലും പ്രധാനദേശാധിപന്മാരിലും വിശിഷ്ടനായ്വിളങ്ങി; രാജാവു അവനെ സര്വ്വരാജ്യത്തിന്നും അധികാരിയാക്കുവാന് വിചാരിച്ചു.

3. Then this Daniel did his work better than the chief rulers and the captains, because there was a special spirit in him; and it was the king's purpose to put him over all the kingdom.

4. ആകയാല് അദ്ധ്യക്ഷന്മാരും പ്രധാന ദേശാധിപന്മാരും രാജ്യം സംബന്ധിച്ചു ദാനീയേലിന്നു വിരോധമായി കാരണം കണ്ടെത്തുവാന് അന്വേഷിച്ചു; എന്നാല് യാതൊരു കാരണവും കുറ്റവും കണ്ടെത്തുവാന് അവര്ക്കും കഴിഞ്ഞില്ല; അവന് വിശ്വസ്തനായിരുന്നതുകൊണ്ടു ഒരു തെറ്റും കുറ്റുവും അവനില് കണ്ടെത്തിയില്ല.

4. Then the chief rulers and the captains were looking for some cause for putting Daniel in the wrong in connection with the kingdom, but they were unable to put forward any wrongdoing or error against him; because he was true, and no error or wrong was to be seen in him.

5. അപ്പോള് ആ പുരുഷന്മാര്നാം ഈ ദാനീയേലിന്റെ നേരെ അവന്റെ ദൈവത്തിന്റെ ന്യായപ്രമാണം സംബന്ധിച്ചുള്ളതല്ലാതെ മറ്റൊരു കാരണവും കണ്ടെത്തുകയില്ല എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

5. Then these men said, We will only get a reason for attacking Daniel in connection with the law of his God.

6. അങ്ങനെ അദ്ധ്യക്ഷന്മാരും പ്രധാനദേശാധിപന്മാരും രാജാവിന്റെ അടുക്കല് ബദ്ധപ്പെട്ടു ചെന്നു ഉണര്ത്തിച്ചതെന്തെന്നാല്ദാര്യ്യാവേശ്രാജാവു ദീര്ഘായുസ്സായിരിക്കട്ടെ.

6. Then these chief rulers and the captains came to the king and said to him, O King Darius, have life for ever.

7. രാജാവേ, മുപ്പതു ദിവസത്തേക്കു തിരുമേനിയോടല്ലാതെ യാതൊരു ദേവനോടോ മനുഷ്യനോടോ ആരെങ്കിലും അപേക്ഷ കഴിച്ചാല്, അവനെ സിംഹങ്ങളുടെ ഗുഹയില് ഇട്ടുകളയും എന്നൊരു രാജനിയമം നിശ്ചയിക്കയും ഖണ്ഡതമായോരു വിരോധം കല്പിക്കയും ചെയ്യേണമെന്നു രാജ്യത്തിലെ സകല അദ്ധ്യക്ഷന്മാരും സ്ഥാനാപതികളും പ്രധാനദേശാധിപന്മാരും മന്ത്രിമാരും ദേശാധിപന്മാരും കൂടി ആലേചിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.

7. All the chief rulers of the kingdom, the chiefs and the captains, the wise men and the rulers, have made a common decision to put in force a law having the king's authority, and to give a strong order, that whoever makes any request to any god or man but you, O King, for thirty days, is to be put into the lions' hole.

8. ആകയാല് രാജാവേ, മേദ്യരുടെയും പാര്സികളുടെയും നീക്കം വരാത്ത നിയമപ്രകാരം മാറ്റം വരാതവണ്ണം ആ വിരോധകല്പന ഉറപ്പിച്ചു രേഖ എഴുതിക്കേണമേ.

8. Now, O King, put the order in force, signing the writing so that it may not be changed, like the law of the Medes and Persians which may not come to an end.

9. അങ്ങനെ ദാര്യ്യാവേശ് രാജാവു രേഖയും വിരോധകല്പനയും എഴുതിച്ചു.

9. For this reason King Darius put his name on the writing and the order.

10. എന്നാല് രേഖ എഴുതിയിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു ദാനീയേല് അറിഞ്ഞപ്പോള് അവന് വീട്ടില് ചെന്നു,--അവന്റെ മാളികമുറിയുടെ കിളിവാതില് യെരൂശലേമിന്നു നേരെ തുറന്നിരുന്നു--താന് മുമ്പെ ചെയ്തുവന്നതുപോലെ ദിവസം മൂന്നു പ്രാവശ്യം മുട്ടുകുത്തി തന്റെ ദൈവത്തിന്റെ സന്നിധിയില് പ്രാര്ത്ഥിച്ചു സ്തോത്രം ചെയ്തു.

10. And Daniel, on hearing that the writing had been signed, went into his house; (now he had windows in his room on the roof opening in the direction of Jerusalem;) and three times a day he went down on his knees in prayer and praise before his God, as he had done before.

11. അപ്പോള് ആ പുരുഷന്മാര് ബദ്ധപ്പെട്ടു വന്നു, ദാനീയേല് തന്റെ ദൈവത്തിന് സന്നിധിയില് പ്രാര്ത്ഥിച്ചു അപേക്ഷിക്കുന്നതു കണ്ടു.

11. Then these men were watching and saw Daniel making prayers and requesting grace before his God.

12. ഉടനെ അവര് രാജസന്നിധിയില് ചെന്നു രാജാവിന്റെ വിരോധകല്പനയെക്കുറിച്ചു സംസാരിച്ചുരാജാവേ, മുപ്പതു ദിവസത്തേക്കു തിരുമേനിയോടല്ലാതെ യാതൊരു ദേവനോടോ മനുഷ്യനോടോ അപേക്ഷ കഴിക്കുന്ന ഏതു മനുഷ്യനെയും സിംഹങ്ങളുടെ ഗുഹയില് ഇട്ടുകളയും എന്നിങ്ങനെ ഒരു കല്പന എഴുതിച്ചിട്ടില്ലയോ എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു; അതിന്നു രാജാവുമേദ്യരുടെയും പാര്സികളുടെയും നീക്കം വരാത്ത നിയമപ്രകാരം ആ കാര്യം ഉറപ്പുതന്നേ എന്നുത്തരം കല്പിച്ചു.

12. Then they came near before the king and said, O King, have you not put your name to an order that any man who makes a request to any god or man but you, O King, for thirty days, is to be put into the lions' hole? The king made answer and said, The thing is fixed by the law of the Medes and Persians which may not come to an end.

13. അതിന്നു അവര് രാജസന്നിധിയില് രാജാവേ, യെഹൂദാപ്രവാസികളില് ഒരുത്തനായ ദാനീയേല് തിരുമേനിയെയാകട്ടെ തിരുമനസ്സുകൊണ്ടു എഴുതിച്ച വിരോധകല്പനയാകട്ടെ കൂട്ടാക്കാതെ, ദിവസം മൂന്നു പ്രവാശ്യം അപേക്ഷ കഴിച്ചുവരുന്നു എന്നു ഉണര്ത്തിച്ചു.

13. Then they made answer and said before the king, Daniel, one of the prisoners of Judah, has no respect for you, O King, or for the order signed by you, but three times a day he makes his prayer to God.

14. രാജാവു ഈ വാക്കു കേട്ടപ്പോള് അത്യന്തം വ്യസനിച്ചു, ദാനീയേലിനെ രക്ഷിപ്പാന് മനസ്സുവെച്ചു അവനെ രക്ഷിപ്പാന് സൂര്യന് അസ്തമിക്കുവോളം പ്രയത്നം ചെയ്തു.

14. When this thing came to the king's ears, it was very evil to him, and his heart was fixed on keeping Daniel safe, and till the going down of the sun he was doing everything in his power to get him free.

15. എന്നാല് ആ പുരുഷന്മാര് രാജാവിന്റെ അടുക്കല് ബദ്ധപ്പെട്ടു ചെന്നുരാജാവേ, രാജാവു ഉറപ്പിക്കുന്ന ഒരു വിരോധകല്പനയോ നിയമമോ മാറ്റിക്കൂടാ എന്നിങ്ങനെയാകുന്നു മേദ്യരുടെയും പാര്സികളുടെയും നിയമം എന്നു ബോദ്ധ്യമായിരിക്കേണം എന്നു രാജാവോടു ഉണര്ത്തിച്ചു.

15. Then these men said to the king, Be certain, O King, that by the law of the Medes and Persians no order or law which the king has put into force may be changed.

16. അങ്ങനെ രാജാവിന് കല്പനയാല് അവര് ദാനീയേലിനെ കൊണ്ടുവന്നു സിംഹങ്ങളുടെ ഗുഹയില് ഇട്ടുകളഞ്ഞു; രാജാവു ദാനീയേലിനോടു സംസാരിച്ചുനീ ഇടവിടാതെ സേവിച്ചുവരുന്ന നിന്റെ ദൈവം നിന്നെ രക്ഷിക്കും എന്നു കല്പിച്ചു.

16. Then the king gave the order, and they took Daniel and put him into the lions' hole. The king made answer and said to Daniel, Your God, whose servant you are at all times, will keep you safe.

17. അവര് ഒരു കല്ലുകൊണ്ടുവന്നു ഗുഹയുടെ വാതില്ക്കല് വെച്ചു, ദാനീയേലിനെക്കുറിച്ചുള്ള നിര്ണ്ണയത്തിന്നു മാറ്റം വരാതെയിരിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു രാജാവു തന്റെ മോതിരംകൊണ്ടും മഹത്തുക്കളുടെ മോതിരംകൊണ്ടും അതിന്നു മുദ്രയിട്ടു.

17. Then they got a stone and put it over the mouth of the hole, and it was stamped with the king's stamp and with the stamp of the lords, so that the decision about Daniel might not be changed.

18. പിന്നെ രാജാവു രാജധാനിയില് ചെന്നു ഉപവസിച്ചു രാത്രി കഴിച്ചു; അവന്റെ സന്നിധിയില് വെപ്പാട്ടികളെ കൊണ്ടുവന്നില്ല; ഉറക്കം അവനെ വിട്ടുപോയി.

18. Then the king went to his great house, and took no food that night, and no ... were placed before him, and his sleep went from him.

19. രാജാവു അതികാലത്തു എഴുന്നേറ്റു ബദ്ധപ്പെട്ടു സിംഹഗുഹയുടെ അരികെ ചെന്നു.

19. Then very early in the morning the king got up and went quickly to the lions' hole.

20. ഗുഹയുടെ അരികെ എത്തിയപ്പോള് അവന് ദുഃഖശബ്ദത്തോടെ ദാനീയേലിനെ വിളിച്ചു. രാജാവു ദാനീയേലിനോടു സംസാരിച്ചുജീവനുള്ള ദൈവത്തിന്റെ ദാസനായ ദാനീയേലേ, നീ ഇടവിടാതെ സേവിച്ചുവരുന്ന നിന്റെ ദൈവം സിംഹങ്ങളില്നിന്നു നിന്നെ രക്ഷിപ്പാന് പ്രാപ്തനായോ എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.

20. And when he came near the hole where Daniel was, he gave a loud cry of grief; the king made answer and said to Daniel, O Daniel, servant of the living God, is your God, whose servant you are at all times, able to keep you safe from the lions?

21. ദാനീയേല് രാജാവിനോടുരാജാവു ദീര്ഘായുസ്സായിരിക്കട്ടെ.

21. Then Daniel said to the king, O King, have life for ever.

22. സിംഹങ്ങള് എനിക്കു കേടുവരുത്താതിരിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു എന്റെ ദൈവം തന്റെ ദൂതനെ അയച്ചു അവയുടെ വായടെച്ചുകളഞ്ഞു; അവന്റെ സന്നിധിയില് ഞാന് കുറ്റമില്ലാത്തവന് ; രാജാവേ, തിരുമുമ്പിലും ഞാന് ഒരു ദോഷവും ചെയ്തിട്ടില്ല എന്നു ഉണര്ത്തിച്ചു.

22. My God has sent his angel to keep the lions' mouths shut, and they have done me no damage: because I was seen to be without sin before him; and further, before you, O King, I have done no wrong.

23. അപ്പോള് രാജാവു അത്യന്തം സന്തോഷിച്ചു, ദാനീയേലിനെ ഗുഹയില്നിന്നു കയറ്റുവാന് കല്പിച്ചു; അവര് ദാനീയേലിനെ ഗുഹയില്നിന്നു കയറ്റി; അവന് തന്റെ ദൈവത്തില് വിശ്വസിച്ചിരുന്നതുകൊണ്ടു അവന്നു യാതൊരു കേടും പറ്റിയതായി കണ്ടില്ല.

23. Then the king was very glad, and gave orders for them to take Daniel up out of the hole. So Daniel was taken up out of the hole and he was seen to be untouched, because he had faith in his God.

24. പിന്നെ രാജാവിന്റെ കല്പനയാല്, അവന് ദാനീയേലിനെ കുറ്റം ചുമത്തിയവരെ കൊണ്ടുവന്നു, അവരെയും മക്കളെയും ഭാര്യമാരെയും സിംഹങ്ങളുടെ ഗുഹയില് ഇട്ടുകളഞ്ഞു; അവര് ഗുഹയുടെ അടിയില് എത്തുമ്മുമ്പെ സിംഹങ്ങള് അവരെ പിടിച്ചു, അവരുടെ അസ്ഥികളൊക്കെയും തകര്ത്തുകളഞ്ഞു.

24. And at the king's order, they took those men who had said evil against Daniel, and put them in the lions' hole, with their wives and their children; and they had not got to the floor of the hole before the lions overcame them and all their bones were broken.

25. അന്നു ദാര്യ്യാവേശ്രാജാവു സര്വ്വഭൂമിയിലും വസിക്കുന്ന സകലവംശങ്ങള്ക്കും ഭാഷക്കാര്ക്കും എഴുതിയതെന്തെന്നാല്നിങ്ങള്ക്കു ശുഭം വര്ദ്ധിച്ചുവരട്ടെ.

25. Then King Darius sent a letter to all the peoples, nations, and languages, living in all the earth: May your peace be increased.

26. എന്റെ രാജാധിപത്യത്തില് ഉള്പ്പെട്ട ഏവരും ദാനീയേലിന്റെ ദൈവത്തിന്റെ മുമ്പാകെ ഭയഭക്തിയോടിരിക്കേണമെന്നു ഞാന് ഒരു തീര്പ്പു കല്പിക്കുന്നു; അവന് ജീവനുള്ള ദൈവവും എന്നേക്കും നിലനിലക്കുന്നവനും അവന്റെ രാജത്വം നശിച്ചു പോകാത്തതും അവന്റെ ആധിപത്യം അവസാനംവരാത്തതും ആകുന്നു.

26. It is my order that in all the kingdom of which I am ruler, men are to be shaking with fear before the God of Daniel: for he is the living God, unchanging for ever, and his kingdom is one which will never come to destruction, his rule will go on to the end.

27. അവന് രക്ഷിക്കയും വിടുവിക്കയും ചെയ്യുന്നു; അവന് ആകാശത്തിലും ഭൂമിയിലും അടയാളങ്ങളും അത്ഭുതങ്ങളും പ്രവര്ത്തിക്കുന്നു; അവന് ദാനീയേലിനെ സിംഹവായില്നിന്നു രക്ഷിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.

27. He gives salvation and makes men free from danger, and does signs and wonders in heaven and earth, who has kept Daniel safe from the power of the lions.

28. എന്നാല് ദാനീയേല് ദാര്യ്യാവേശിന്റെ വാഴ്ചയിലും പാര്സിരാജാവായ കോരെശിന്റെ വാഴ്ചയിലും ശുഭപ്പെട്ടിരുന്നു.

28. So this Daniel did well in the kingdom of Darius and in the kingdom of Cyrus the Persian.
