1. യഹോവ പിന്നെയും മോശെയോടു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തതുഅഹരോന്റെ പുത്രന്മാരായ പുരോഹിതന്മാരോടു പറയേണ്ടതെന്തെന്നാല്പുരോഹിതന് തന്റെ ജനത്തില് ഒരുവന്റെ ശവത്താല് തന്നെത്താന് മലിനമാക്കരുതു.

1. Yahweh said to Moses: 'Speak to the priests descended from Aaron and say: 'None of them must make himself unclean by touching the corpse of one of his people,

2. എന്നാല് തന്റെ അമ്മ, അപ്പന് , മകന് , മകള്, സഹോദരന് ,

2. unless it be of one of his closest relations-father, mother, son, daughter, brother,

3. തനിക്കടുത്തവളും ഭര്ത്താവില്ലാത്ത കന്യകയുമായ സഹോദരി എന്നിങ്ങിനെയുള്ള ഉററ ചാര്ച്ചക്കാരാല് അവന്നു മലിനനാകാം.

3. or virgin sister, since she being unmarried is still his close relation: he can make himself unclean for her;

4. അവന് തന്റെ ജനത്തില് പ്രമാണിയായിരിക്കയാല് തന്നെത്താന് മലിനമാക്കി അശുദ്ധനാക്കരുതു.

4. but for a close female relation who is married he will not make himself unclean; he would profane himself.

5. അവര് തലമുടി വടിക്കയും താടിയുടെ അറ്റം കത്രിക്കയും ശരീരത്തില് മുറിവുണ്ടാക്കുകയും അരുതു;

5. 'They will not make tonsures on their heads, shave the edges of their beards, or gash their bodies.

6. തങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവത്തിന്റെ നാമത്തെ അശുദ്ധമാക്കാതെ തങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവത്തിന്നു വിശുദ്ധന്മാരായിരിക്കേണം; അവര് തങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവത്തിന്റെ ഭോജനമായ യഹോവയുടെ ദഹനയാഗങ്ങള് അര്പ്പിക്കുന്നു; ആകയാല് അവര് വിശുദ്ധന്മാരായിരിക്കേണം.

6. They will be consecrated to their God and will not profane the name of their God. For their function is to offer the food burnt for Yahweh, the food of their God, and so they must be holy.

7. വേശ്യയെയോ ദുര്ന്നടപ്പുകാരത്തിയെയോ അവര് വിവാഹം കഴിക്കരുതു; ഭര്ത്താവു ഉപേക്ഷിച്ചുകളഞ്ഞവളെയും വിവാഹം കഴിക്കരുതു; അവന് തന്റെ ദൈവത്തിന്നു വിശുദ്ധന് ആകുന്നു.

7. 'They will not marry a woman profaned by prostitution, or one divorced by her husband, for the priest is consecrated to his God.

8. അതുകൊണ്ടു നീ അവനെ ശുദ്ധീകരിക്കേണം; അവന് നിന്റെ ദൈവത്തിന്നു ഭോജനം അര്പ്പിക്കുന്നവനാകയാല് നീ അവനെ ശുദ്ധീകരിക്കേണം; അവന് നിനക്കു വിശുദ്ധനായിരിക്കേണം; നിങ്ങളെ ശുദ്ധീകരിക്കുന്ന യഹോവയായ ഞാന് വിശുദ്ധന് ആകുന്നു.

8. 'You will treat him as holy, for he offers the food of your God. For you, he will be a holy person, for I, Yahweh, who sanctify you, am holy.

9. പുരോഹിതന്റെ മകള് ദുര്ന്നടപ്പു ചെയ്തു തന്നെത്താന് അശുദ്ധയാക്കിയാല് അവള് തന്റെ അപ്പനെ അശുദ്ധനാക്കുന്നു; അവളെ തീയില് ഇട്ടു ചുട്ടുകളയേണം.

9. 'If a priest's daughter profanes herself by prostitution, she profanes her father and will be burnt alive.

10. അഭിഷേകതൈലം തലയില് ഒഴിക്കപ്പെട്ടവനും വസ്ത്രം ധരിപ്പാന് പ്രതിഷ്ഠിക്കപ്പെട്ടവനുമായി തന്റെ സഹോദരന്മാരില് മഹാ പുരോഹിതനായവന് തന്റെ തലമുടി പിച്ചിപ്പറിക്കയും വസ്ത്രം കീറുകയും അരുതു.

10. 'The priest who is pre-eminent over his brothers, on whose head the anointing oil has been poured, and who, robed in the sacred vestments, has received investiture, will not disorder his hair or tear his clothes;

11. അവന് യാതൊരു ശവത്തോടും അടുക്കുകയും തന്റെ അപ്പനാലോ അമ്മയാലോ അശുദ്ധനാകയും അരുതു.

11. he will not go near any corpse or make himself unclean even for his father or mother.

12. He will not leave the holy place in such a way as to profane the sanctuary of his God; for he bears the consecration of the anointing oil of his God. I am Yahweh.

13. കന്യകയായ സ്ത്രീയെ മാത്രമേ അവന് വിവാഹം കഴിക്കാവു.

13. 'He will marry a woman who is still a virgin.

14. വിധവ, ഉപേക്ഷിക്കപ്പെട്ടവള്, ദുര്ന്നടപ്പുകാരത്തി, വേശ്യ ഇങ്ങനെയുള്ളവരെ അവന് വിവാഹം കഴിക്കരുതു; സ്വജനത്തിലുള്ള കന്യകയെ മാത്രമേ വിവാഹം കഴിക്കാവു.

14. He will not marry a woman who has been widowed or divorced or profaned by prostitution, but will marry a virgin from his own people:

15. he must not make his own children profane, for I, Yahweh, have sanctified him.' '

16. യഹോവ പിന്നെയും മോശെയോടു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തതുനീ അഹരോനോടു പറയേണ്ടതു എന്തെന്നാല്

16. Yahweh spoke to Moses and said:

17. നിന്റെ സന്തതിയില് അംഗഹീനനായവന് നിന്റെ ദൈവത്തിന്റെ ഭോജനം അര്പ്പിപ്പാന് ഒരിക്കലും അടുത്തുവരരുതു.

17. 'Speak to Aaron and say: 'None of your descendants, for all time, may come forward to offer the food of his God if he has any infirmity,

18. അംഗഹീനനായ യാതൊരുത്തനും അടുത്തുവരരുതു; കുരുടന് , മുടന്തന് ,

18. for none may come forward if he has an infirmity, be he blind or lame, disfigured or deformed,

19. പതിമക്കൂന് , അധികാംഗന് , കാലൊടിഞ്ഞവന് , കയ്യൊടിഞ്ഞവന് ,

19. or with an injured foot or arm,

20. കൂനന് , മുണ്ടന് , പൂക്കണ്ണന് , ചൊറിയന് , പൊരിച്ചുണങ്ങന് , ഷണ്ഡന് എന്നിങ്ങനെയുള്ളവരും അരുതു.

20. a hunchback, someone with rickets or ophthalmia or the scab or running sores, or a eunuch.

21. പുരോഹിതനായ അഹരോന്റെ സന്തതിയില് അംഗഹീനനായ ഒരുത്തനും യഹോവയുടെ ദഹനയാഗങ്ങള് അര്പ്പിപ്പാന് അടുത്തു വരരുതു; അവന് അംഗഹീനന് ; അവന് തന്റെ ദൈവത്തിന്റെ ഭോജനം അര്പ്പിപ്പാന് അടുത്തുവരരുതു.

21. No descendant of the priest Aaron may come forward to offer the food burnt for Yahweh if he has any infirmity; if he has an infirmity, he will not come forward to offer the food of his God.

22. തന്റെ ദൈവത്തിന്റെ ഭോജനമായ അതിപിരിശുദ്ധമായവയും വിശുദ്ധമായവയും അവന്നു ഭക്ഷിക്കാം.

22. 'He may eat the food of his God, things especially holy and things holy,

23. എങ്കിലും തിരശ്ശീലയുടെ അടുക്കല് ചെല്ലുകയും യാഗപീഠത്തിങ്കല് അടുത്തുവരികയും അരുതു; അവന് അംഗഹീനനല്ലോ; അവന് എന്റെ വിശുദ്ധസാധനങ്ങളെ അശുദ്ധമാക്കരുതു; ഞാന് അവരെ ശുദ്ധീകരിക്കുന്ന യഹോവ ആകുന്നു.

23. but he will not go near the curtain or approach the altar, since he has an infirmity and must not profane my holy things; for I, Yahweh, have sanctified them.' '

24. മോശെ ഇതു അഹരോനോടും പുത്രന്മാരോടും എല്ലായിസ്രായേല്മക്കളോടും പറഞ്ഞു.

24. And Moses promulgated this to Aaron, to his sons, and to all the Israelites.
