1. അനന്തരം യിസ്രായേല്മക്കളുടെ സര്വ്വസഭയും ഒന്നാം മാസം സീന് മരുഭൂമിയില് എത്തി, ജനം കാദേശില് പാര്ത്തു; അവിടെ വെച്ചു മിര്യ്യാം മരിച്ചു; അവിടെ അവളെ അടക്കം ചെയ്തു.

1. The people of Israel arrived at the Zin Desert during the first month and set up camp near the town of Kadesh. It was there that Miriam died and was buried.

2. ജനത്തിന്നു കുടിപ്പാന് വെള്ളം ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നില്ല; അപ്പോള് അവര് മോശെക്കും അഹരോന്നും വിരോധമായി കൂട്ടം കൂടി.

2. The Israelites had no water, so they went to Moses and Aaron

3. ജനം മേശെയോടു കലഹിച്ചുഞങ്ങളുടെ സഹോദരന്മാര് യഹോവയുടെ സന്നിധിയില് മരിച്ചപ്പോള് ഞങ്ങളും മരിച്ചുപോയിരുന്നു എങ്കില് കൊള്ളായിരുന്നു.

3. and complained, 'Moses, we'd be better off if we had died along with the others in front of the LORD's sacred tent.

4. ഞങ്ങളും ഞങ്ങളുടെ മൃഗങ്ങളും ഇവിടെ കിടന്നു ചാകേണ്ടതിന്നു നിങ്ങള് യഹോവയുടെ സഭയെ ഈ മരുഭൂമിയില് കൊണ്ടുവന്നതു എന്തു?

4. You brought us into this desert, and now we and our livestock are going to die!

5. Egypt was better than this horrible place. At least there we had grain and figs and grapevines and pomegranates. But now we don't even have any water.'

6. Moses and Aaron went to the entrance to the sacred tent, where they bowed down. The LORD appeared to them in all of his glory

7. യഹോവ മോശെയോടുനിന്റെ വടി എടുത്തു നീയും സഹോദരനായ അഹരോനും സഭയെ വിളിച്ചുകൂട്ടി അവര് കാണ്കെ പാറയോടു കല്പിക്ക.

7. and said, 'Moses, get your walking stick. Then you and Aaron call the people together and command that rock to give you water. That's how you will provide water for the people of Israel and their livestock.'

8. എന്നാല് അതു വെള്ളം തരും; പാറയില് നിന്നു അവര്ക്കും വെള്ളം പുറപ്പെടുവിച്ചു ജനത്തിന്നും അവരുടെ കന്നുകാലികള്ക്കും കുടിപ്പാന് കൊടുക്കേണം എന്നു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തു.

9. Moses obeyed and took his stick from the sacred tent.

10. മോശെയും അഹരോനും പാറയുടെ അടുക്കല് സഭയെ വിളിച്ചുകൂട്ടി അവരോടുമത്സരികളേ, കേള്പ്പിന് ; ഈ പാറയില്നിന്നു ഞങ്ങള് നിങ്ങള്ക്കുവേണ്ടി വെള്ളം പുറപ്പെടുവിക്കുമോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

10. After he and Aaron had gathered the people around the rock, he said, 'Look, you rebellious people, and you will see water flow from this rock!'

11. മോശെ കൈ ഉയര്ത്തി വടികൊണ്ടു പാറയെ രണ്ടു പ്രാവശ്യം അടിച്ചു; വളരെ വെള്ളം പുറപ്പെട്ടു; ജനവും അവരുടെ കന്നുകാലികളും കുടിച്ചു.

11. He raised his stick in the air and struck the rock two times. At once, water gushed from the rock, and the people and their livestock had water to drink.

12. പിന്നെ യഹോവ മോശെയോടും അഹരോനോടുംനിങ്ങള് യിസ്രായേല്മക്കള് കാണ്കെ എന്നെ ശുദ്ധീകരിപ്പാന് തക്കവണ്ണം എന്നെ വിശ്വസിക്കാതിരുന്നതുകൊണ്ടു നിങ്ങള് ഈ സഭയെ ഞാന് അവര്ക്കും കൊടുത്തിരിക്കുന്ന ദേശത്തേക്കു കൊണ്ടുപോകയില്ല എന്നു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തു.

12. But the LORD said to Moses and Aaron, 'Because you refused to believe in my power, these people did not respect me. And so, you will not be the ones to lead them into the land I have promised.'

13. ഇതു യിസ്രായേല്മക്കള് യഹോവയോടു കലഹിച്ചതും അവര് അവരില് ശുദ്ധീകരിക്കപ്പെട്ടതുമായ കലഹജലം.

13. The Israelites had complained against the LORD, and he had shown them his holy power by giving them water to drink. So they named the place Meribah, which means 'Complaining.'

14. അനന്തരം മോശെ കാദേശില്നിന്നു എദോംരാജാവിന്റെ അടുക്കല് ദൂതന്മാരെ അയച്ചു പറയിച്ചതുനിന്റെ സഹോദരനായ യിസ്രായേല് ഇപ്രകാരം പറയുന്നു

14. Moses sent messengers from Israel's camp near Kadesh with this message for the king of Edom: We are Israelites, your own relatives, and we're sure you have heard the terrible things that have happened to us.

15. ഞങ്ങള്ക്കുണ്ടായ കഷ്ടതയൊക്കെയും നീ അറിഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നുവല്ലോ; ഞങ്ങളുടെ പിതാക്കന്മാര് മിസ്രയീമില് പോയി ഏറിയ കാലം പാര്ത്തുമിസ്രയീമ്യര് ഞങ്ങളെയും ഞങ്ങളുടെ പിതാക്കന്മാരെയും പീഡിപ്പിച്ചു.

15. Our ancestors settled in Egypt and lived there a long time. But later the Egyptians were cruel to us,

16. ഞങ്ങള് യഹോവയോടു നിലവിളിച്ചപ്പോള് അവന് ഞങ്ങളുടെ നിലവിളി കേട്ടു ഒരു ദൂതനെ അയച്ചു ഞങ്ങളെ മിസ്രയീമില്നിന്നു പുറപ്പെടുവിച്ചു; ഞങ്ങള് നിന്റെ അതിരിങ്കലുള്ള പട്ടണമായ കാദേശില് എത്തിയിരിക്കുന്നു.

16. and when we begged our LORD for help, he answered our prayer and brought us out of that land. Now we are camped at the border of your territory, near the town of Kadesh.

17. ഞങ്ങള് നിന്റെ ദേശത്തുകൂടി കടന്നുപോകുവാന് അനുവദിക്കേണമേ. ഞങ്ങള് വയലിലോ മുന്തിരിത്തോട്ടത്തിലോ കയറുകയില്ല; കിണറ്റിലെവെള്ളം കുടിക്കയുമില്ല. ഞങ്ങള് രാജപാതയില്കൂടി തന്നേ നടക്കും;

17. Please let us go through your country. We won't go near your fields and vineyards, and we won't drink any water from your wells. We will stay on the main road until we leave your territory.

18. നിന്റെ അതിര് കഴിയുംവരെ ഇടത്തോട്ടോ വലത്തോട്ടോ തിരികയുമില്ല. എദോം അവനോടുനീ എന്റെ നാട്ടില്കൂടി കടക്കരുതുകടന്നാല് ഞാന് വാളുമായി നിന്റെ നേരെ പുറപ്പെടും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

18. But the Edomite king answered, 'No, I won't let you go through our country! And if you try, we will attack you.'

19. അതിന്നു യിസ്രായേല്മക്കള് അവനോടുഞങ്ങള് പെരുവഴിയില്കൂടി പൊയ്ക്കൊള്ളാം; ഞാനും എന്റെ കന്നുകാലിയും നിന്റെ വെള്ളം കുടിച്ചുപോയാല് അതിന്റെ വിലതരാം; കാല്നടയായി കടന്നു പോകേണമെന്നല്ലാതെ മറ്റൊന്നും എനിക്കു വേണ്ടാ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

19. Moses sent back this message: 'We promise to stay on the main road, and if any of us or our livestock drink your water, we will pay for it. We just want to pass through.'

20. അതിന്നു അവന് നീ കടന്നുപോകരുതു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. എദോം ബഹുസൈന്യത്തോടും ബലമുള്ള കയ്യോടുംകൂടെ അവന്റെ നേരെ പുറപ്പെട്ടു.

20. But the Edomite king insisted, 'You can't go through our land!' Then Edom sent out its strongest troops

21. ഇങ്ങനെ എദോം തന്റെ അതിരില്കൂടി കടന്നുപോകുവാന് യിസ്രായേലിനെ സമ്മതിച്ചില്ല. യിസ്രായേല് അവനെ വിട്ടു ഒഴിഞ്ഞുപോയി.

21. to keep Israel from passing through its territory. So the Israelites had to go in another direction.

22. പിന്നെ യിസ്രായേല്മക്കളുടെ സര്വ്വസഭയും കാദേശില്നിന്നു യാത്രപുറപ്പെട്ടു ഹോര് പര്വ്വതത്തില് എത്തി.

22. After the Israelites had left Kadesh and had gone as far as Mount Hor

23. എദോംദേശത്തിന്റെ അതിരിങ്കലുള്ള ഹോര്പര്വ്വതത്തില്വെച്ചു യഹോവ മോശെയോടും അഹരോനോടും അരുളിച്ചെയ്തതു

23. on the Edomite border, the LORD said,

24. അഹരോന് തന്റെ ജനത്തോടു ചേരും; കലഹജലത്തിങ്കല് നിങ്ങള് എന്റെ കല്പന മറുത്തതുകൊണ്ടു ഞാന് യിസ്രായേല്മക്കള്ക്കു കൊടുത്തിരിക്കുന്ന ദേശത്തേക്കു അവന് കടക്കയില്ല.

24. 'Aaron, this is where you will die. You and Moses disobeyed me at Meribah, and so you will not enter the land I promised the Israelites.

25. അഹരോനെയും അവന്റെ മകനായ എലെയാസാരിനെയും കൂട്ടി അവരെ ഹോര്പര്വ്വതത്തില് കൊണ്ടു ചെന്നു

25. Moses, go with Aaron and his son Eleazar to the top of the mountain.

26. അഹരോന്റെ വസ്ത്രം ഊരി അവന്റെ മകനായ എലെയാസാരിനെ ധരിപ്പിക്കേണം; അഹരോന് അവിടെവെച്ചു മരിച്ചു തന്റെ ജനത്തോടു ചേരും.

26. Then take Aaron's priestly robe from him and place it on Eleazar. Aaron will die there.'

27. യഹോവ കല്പിച്ചതുപോലെ മോശെ ചെയ്തു; സര്വ്വസഭയും കാണ്കെ അവര് ഹോര്പര്വ്വത്തില് കയറി.

27. Moses obeyed, and everyone watched as he and Aaron and Eleazar walked to the top of Mount Hor.

28. മോശെ അഹരോന്റെ വസ്ത്രം ഊരി അവന്റെ മകനായ എലെയാസാരിനെ ധരിപ്പിച്ചു; അഹരോന് അവിടെ പര്വ്വതത്തിന്റെ മുകളില്വെച്ചു മരിച്ചു; മോശെയും എലെയാസാരും പര്വ്വതത്തില്നിന്നു ഇറങ്ങി വന്നു. അഹരോന് മരിച്ചുപോയി എന്നു സഭയെല്ലാം അറിഞ്ഞപ്പോള് യിസ്രായേല് ഗൃഹം ഒക്കെയും അഹരോനെക്കുറിച്ചു മുപ്പതു ദിവസം വിലാപിച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരുന്നു

28. Moses then took the priestly robe from Aaron and placed it on Eleazar. Aaron died there. When Moses and Eleazar came down,
