1. അനന്തരം യിസ്രായേല്മക്കളുടെ സര്വ്വസഭയും ഒന്നാം മാസം സീന് മരുഭൂമിയില് എത്തി, ജനം കാദേശില് പാര്ത്തു; അവിടെ വെച്ചു മിര്യ്യാം മരിച്ചു; അവിടെ അവളെ അടക്കം ചെയ്തു.

1. In the first month, the entire company of the People of Israel arrived in the Wilderness of Zin. The people stayed in Kadesh. Miriam died there, and she was buried.

2. ജനത്തിന്നു കുടിപ്പാന് വെള്ളം ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നില്ല; അപ്പോള് അവര് മോശെക്കും അഹരോന്നും വിരോധമായി കൂട്ടം കൂടി.

2. There was no water there for the community, so they ganged up on Moses and Aaron.

3. ജനം മേശെയോടു കലഹിച്ചുഞങ്ങളുടെ സഹോദരന്മാര് യഹോവയുടെ സന്നിധിയില് മരിച്ചപ്പോള് ഞങ്ങളും മരിച്ചുപോയിരുന്നു എങ്കില് കൊള്ളായിരുന്നു.

3. They attacked Moses: 'We wish we'd died when the rest of our brothers died before GOD.

4. ഞങ്ങളും ഞങ്ങളുടെ മൃഗങ്ങളും ഇവിടെ കിടന്നു ചാകേണ്ടതിന്നു നിങ്ങള് യഹോവയുടെ സഭയെ ഈ മരുഭൂമിയില് കൊണ്ടുവന്നതു എന്തു?

4. Why did you haul this congregation of GOD out here into this wilderness to die, people and cattle alike?

5. ഈ വല്ലാത്ത സ്ഥലത്തു ഞങ്ങളെ കൊണ്ടുവരുവാന് നിങ്ങള് മിസ്രയീമില്നിന്നു ഞങ്ങളെ പുറപ്പെടുവിച്ചതു എന്തിന്നു? ഇവിടെ വിത്തും അത്തിപ്പഴവും മുന്തിരിപ്പഴവും മാതളപ്പഴവും ഇല്ല; കുടിപ്പാന് വെള്ളവുമില്ല എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

5. And why did you take us out of Egypt in the first place, dragging us into this miserable country? No grain, no figs, no grapevines, no pomegranates--and now not even any water!'

6. എന്നാറെ മോശെയും അഹരോനും സഭയുടെ മുമ്പില് നിന്നു സമാഗമന കൂടാരത്തിന്റെ വാതില്ക്കല് ചെന്നു കവിണ്ണുവീണു; യഹോവയുടെ തേജസ്സു അവര്ക്കും പ്രത്യക്ഷമായി.

6. Moses and Aaron walked from the assembled congregation to the Tent of Meeting and threw themselves facedown on the ground. And they saw the Glory of GOD.

7. യഹോവ മോശെയോടുനിന്റെ വടി എടുത്തു നീയും സഹോദരനായ അഹരോനും സഭയെ വിളിച്ചുകൂട്ടി അവര് കാണ്കെ പാറയോടു കല്പിക്ക.

7. GOD spoke to Moses:

8. എന്നാല് അതു വെള്ളം തരും; പാറയില് നിന്നു അവര്ക്കും വെള്ളം പുറപ്പെടുവിച്ചു ജനത്തിന്നും അവരുടെ കന്നുകാലികള്ക്കും കുടിപ്പാന് കൊടുക്കേണം എന്നു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തു.

8. 'Take the staff. Assemble the community, you and your brother Aaron. Speak to that rock that's right in front of them and it will give water. You will bring water out of the rock for them; congregation and cattle will both drink.'

9. തന്നോടു കല്പിച്ചതുപോലെ മോശെ യഹോവയുടെ സന്നിധിയില്നിന്നു വടി എടുത്തു.

9. Moses took the staff away from GOD's presence, as commanded.

10. മോശെയും അഹരോനും പാറയുടെ അടുക്കല് സഭയെ വിളിച്ചുകൂട്ടി അവരോടുമത്സരികളേ, കേള്പ്പിന് ; ഈ പാറയില്നിന്നു ഞങ്ങള് നിങ്ങള്ക്കുവേണ്ടി വെള്ളം പുറപ്പെടുവിക്കുമോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

10. He and Aaron rounded up the whole congregation in front of the rock. Moses spoke: 'Listen, rebels! Do we have to bring water out of this rock for you?'

11. മോശെ കൈ ഉയര്ത്തി വടികൊണ്ടു പാറയെ രണ്ടു പ്രാവശ്യം അടിച്ചു; വളരെ വെള്ളം പുറപ്പെട്ടു; ജനവും അവരുടെ കന്നുകാലികളും കുടിച്ചു.

11. With that Moses raised his arm and slammed his staff against the rock--once, twice. Water poured out. Congregation and cattle drank.

12. പിന്നെ യഹോവ മോശെയോടും അഹരോനോടുംനിങ്ങള് യിസ്രായേല്മക്കള് കാണ്കെ എന്നെ ശുദ്ധീകരിപ്പാന് തക്കവണ്ണം എന്നെ വിശ്വസിക്കാതിരുന്നതുകൊണ്ടു നിങ്ങള് ഈ സഭയെ ഞാന് അവര്ക്കും കൊടുത്തിരിക്കുന്ന ദേശത്തേക്കു കൊണ്ടുപോകയില്ല എന്നു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തു.

12. GOD said to Moses and Aaron, 'Because you didn't trust me, didn't treat me with holy reverence in front of the People of Israel, you two aren't going to lead this company into the land that I am giving them.'

13. ഇതു യിസ്രായേല്മക്കള് യഹോവയോടു കലഹിച്ചതും അവര് അവരില് ശുദ്ധീകരിക്കപ്പെട്ടതുമായ കലഹജലം.

13. These were the Waters of Meribah (Bickering) where the People of Israel bickered with GOD, and he revealed himself as holy.

14. അനന്തരം മോശെ കാദേശില്നിന്നു എദോംരാജാവിന്റെ അടുക്കല് ദൂതന്മാരെ അയച്ചു പറയിച്ചതുനിന്റെ സഹോദരനായ യിസ്രായേല് ഇപ്രകാരം പറയുന്നു

14. Moses sent emissaries from Kadesh to the king of Edom with this message: 'A message from your brother Israel: You are familiar with all the trouble we've run into.

15. ഞങ്ങള്ക്കുണ്ടായ കഷ്ടതയൊക്കെയും നീ അറിഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നുവല്ലോ; ഞങ്ങളുടെ പിതാക്കന്മാര് മിസ്രയീമില് പോയി ഏറിയ കാലം പാര്ത്തുമിസ്രയീമ്യര് ഞങ്ങളെയും ഞങ്ങളുടെ പിതാക്കന്മാരെയും പീഡിപ്പിച്ചു.

15. Our ancestors went down to Egypt and lived there a long time. The Egyptians viciously abused both us and our ancestors.

16. ഞങ്ങള് യഹോവയോടു നിലവിളിച്ചപ്പോള് അവന് ഞങ്ങളുടെ നിലവിളി കേട്ടു ഒരു ദൂതനെ അയച്ചു ഞങ്ങളെ മിസ്രയീമില്നിന്നു പുറപ്പെടുവിച്ചു; ഞങ്ങള് നിന്റെ അതിരിങ്കലുള്ള പട്ടണമായ കാദേശില് എത്തിയിരിക്കുന്നു.

16. But when we cried out for help to GOD, he heard our cry. He sent an angel and got us out of Egypt. And now here we are at Kadesh, a town at the border of your land.

17. ഞങ്ങള് നിന്റെ ദേശത്തുകൂടി കടന്നുപോകുവാന് അനുവദിക്കേണമേ. ഞങ്ങള് വയലിലോ മുന്തിരിത്തോട്ടത്തിലോ കയറുകയില്ല; കിണറ്റിലെവെള്ളം കുടിക്കയുമില്ല. ഞങ്ങള് രാജപാതയില്കൂടി തന്നേ നടക്കും;

17. 'Will you give us permission to cut across your land? We won't trespass through your fields or orchards and we won't drink out of your wells; we'll keep to the main road, the King's Road, straying neither right nor left until we've crossed your border.'

18. നിന്റെ അതിര് കഴിയുംവരെ ഇടത്തോട്ടോ വലത്തോട്ടോ തിരികയുമില്ല. എദോം അവനോടുനീ എന്റെ നാട്ടില്കൂടി കടക്കരുതുകടന്നാല് ഞാന് വാളുമായി നിന്റെ നേരെ പുറപ്പെടും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

18. The king of Edom answered, 'Not on your life. If you so much as set a foot on my land, I'll kill you.'

19. അതിന്നു യിസ്രായേല്മക്കള് അവനോടുഞങ്ങള് പെരുവഴിയില്കൂടി പൊയ്ക്കൊള്ളാം; ഞാനും എന്റെ കന്നുകാലിയും നിന്റെ വെള്ളം കുടിച്ചുപോയാല് അതിന്റെ വിലതരാം; കാല്നടയായി കടന്നു പോകേണമെന്നല്ലാതെ മറ്റൊന്നും എനിക്കു വേണ്ടാ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

19. The People of Israel said, 'Look, we'll stay on the main road. If we or our animals drink any water, we'll pay you for it. We're harmless--just a company of footsore travelers.'

20. അതിന്നു അവന് നീ കടന്നുപോകരുതു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. എദോം ബഹുസൈന്യത്തോടും ബലമുള്ള കയ്യോടുംകൂടെ അവന്റെ നേരെ പുറപ്പെട്ടു.

20. He answered again: 'No. You may not come through.' And Edom came out and blocked the way with a crowd of people brandishing weapons.

21. ഇങ്ങനെ എദോം തന്റെ അതിരില്കൂടി കടന്നുപോകുവാന് യിസ്രായേലിനെ സമ്മതിച്ചില്ല. യിസ്രായേല് അവനെ വിട്ടു ഒഴിഞ്ഞുപോയി.

21. Edom refused to let them cross through his land. So Israel had to detour around him.

22. പിന്നെ യിസ്രായേല്മക്കളുടെ സര്വ്വസഭയും കാദേശില്നിന്നു യാത്രപുറപ്പെട്ടു ഹോര് പര്വ്വതത്തില് എത്തി.

22. The People of Israel, the entire company, set out from Kadesh and traveled to Mount Hor.

23. എദോംദേശത്തിന്റെ അതിരിങ്കലുള്ള ഹോര്പര്വ്വതത്തില്വെച്ചു യഹോവ മോശെയോടും അഹരോനോടും അരുളിച്ചെയ്തതു

23. GOD said to Moses and Aaron at Mount Hor at the border of Edom,

24. അഹരോന് തന്റെ ജനത്തോടു ചേരും; കലഹജലത്തിങ്കല് നിങ്ങള് എന്റെ കല്പന മറുത്തതുകൊണ്ടു ഞാന് യിസ്രായേല്മക്കള്ക്കു കൊടുത്തിരിക്കുന്ന ദേശത്തേക്കു അവന് കടക്കയില്ല.

24. 'It's time for Aaron to be gathered into the company of his ancestors. He will not enter the land I am giving to the People of Israel because you both rebelled against my orders at the Waters of Meribah.

25. അഹരോനെയും അവന്റെ മകനായ എലെയാസാരിനെയും കൂട്ടി അവരെ ഹോര്പര്വ്വതത്തില് കൊണ്ടു ചെന്നു

25. So take Aaron and his son Eleazar and lead them up Mount Hor.

26. അഹരോന്റെ വസ്ത്രം ഊരി അവന്റെ മകനായ എലെയാസാരിനെ ധരിപ്പിക്കേണം; അഹരോന് അവിടെവെച്ചു മരിച്ചു തന്റെ ജനത്തോടു ചേരും.

26. Remove Aaron's clothes from him and put them on his son Eleazar. Aaron will be gathered there; Aaron will die.'

27. യഹോവ കല്പിച്ചതുപോലെ മോശെ ചെയ്തു; സര്വ്വസഭയും കാണ്കെ അവര് ഹോര്പര്വ്വത്തില് കയറി.

27. Moses obeyed GOD's command. They climbed Mount Hor as the whole congregation watched.

28. മോശെ അഹരോന്റെ വസ്ത്രം ഊരി അവന്റെ മകനായ എലെയാസാരിനെ ധരിപ്പിച്ചു; അഹരോന് അവിടെ പര്വ്വതത്തിന്റെ മുകളില്വെച്ചു മരിച്ചു; മോശെയും എലെയാസാരും പര്വ്വതത്തില്നിന്നു ഇറങ്ങി വന്നു. അഹരോന് മരിച്ചുപോയി എന്നു സഭയെല്ലാം അറിഞ്ഞപ്പോള് യിസ്രായേല് ഗൃഹം ഒക്കെയും അഹരോനെക്കുറിച്ചു മുപ്പതു ദിവസം വിലാപിച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരുന്നു

28. Moses took off Aaron's clothes and put them on his son Eleazar. Aaron died on top of the mountain. Then Moses and Eleazar came down from the mountain.
