1. യിസ്രായേലിനെ അനുഗ്രഹിക്കുന്നതു യഹോവേക്കു പ്രസാദമെന്നു ബിലെയാം കണ്ടപ്പോള് അവന് മുമ്പിലത്തെപ്പോലെ ലക്ഷണം നോക്കുവാന് പോകാതെ മരുഭൂമിക്കുനേരെ മുഖം തിരിച്ചു.

1. WHEN BALAAM saw that it pleased the Lord to bless Israel, he did not go as he had done each time before [superstitiously] to meet with omens and signs in the natural world, but he set his face toward the wilderness or desert.

2. ബിലെയാം തല ഉയര്ത്തി യിസ്രായേല് ഗോത്രംഗോത്രമായി പാര്ക്കുംന്നതു കണ്ടു; ദൈവത്തിന്റെ ആത്മാവു അവന്റെമേല് വന്നു;

2. And Balaam lifted up his eyes and he saw Israel abiding in their tents according to their tribes. And the Spirit of God came upon him

3. അവന് സുഭാഷിതം ചൊല്ലിത്തുടങ്ങിയതുബെയോരിന്റെ മകനായ ബിലെയാം പറയുന്നു.

3. And he took up his [figurative] discourse and said: Balaam son of Beor, the man whose eye is opened [at last, to see clearly the purposes and will of God],

4. കണ്ണടച്ചിരിക്കുന്ന പുരുഷന് പറയുന്നു; ദൈവത്തിന്റെ അരുളപ്പാടു കേള്ക്കുന്നവന് , സര്വ്വശക്തന്റെ ദര്ശനം ദര്ശിക്കുന്നവന് , വീഴുമ്പോള് കണ്ണു തുറന്നിരിക്കുന്നവന് പറയുന്നതു

4. He [Balaam] who hears the words of God, who sees the vision of the Almighty, falling down, but having his eyes open and uncovered, he says:

5. യാക്കോബേ, നിന്റെ കൂടാരങ്ങള് യിസ്രായേലേ, നിന്റെ നിവാസങ്ങള് എത്ര മനോഹരം!

5. How attractive and considerable are your tents, O Jacob, and your tabernacles, O Israel!

6. താഴ്വരപോലെ അവ പരന്നിരിക്കുന്നു; നദീതീരത്തെ ഉദ്യാനങ്ങള്പോലെ, യഹോവ നട്ടിരിക്കുന്ന ചന്ദനവൃക്ഷങ്ങള് പോലെ, ജലാന്തികേയുള്ള ദേവദാരുക്കള്പോലെ തന്നേ.

6. As valleys are they spread forth, as gardens by the riverside, as [rare spice] of lignaloes which the Lord has planted, and as cedar trees beside the waters. [Ps. 1:3.]

7. അവന്റെ തൊട്ടികളില്നിന്നു വെള്ളം ഒഴുകുന്നു; അവന്റെ വിത്തിന്നു വെള്ളം ധാരാളം; അവന്റെ അരചന് ആഗാഗിലും ശ്രേഷ്ഠന് ; അവന്റെ രാജത്വം ഉന്നതം തന്നേ.

7. [Israel] shall pour water out of his own buckets [have his own sources of rich blessing and plenty], and his offspring shall dwell by many waters, and his king shall be higher than Agag, and his kingdom shall be exalted.

8. ദൈവം അവനെ മിസ്രയീമില്നിന്നു കൊണ്ടു വരുന്നു; കാട്ടുപോത്തിന്നു തുല്യമായ ബലം അവന്നു ഉണ്ടു; ശത്രുജാതികളെ അവന് തിന്നുകളയുന്നു; അവരുടെ അസ്ഥികളെ അവന് തകര്ക്കുംന്നു; അസ്ത്രം എയ്തു അവരെ തുളെക്കുന്നു.

8. God brought [Israel] forth out of Egypt; [Israel] has strength like the wild ox; he shall eat up the nations, his enemies, crushing their bones and piercing them through with his arrows.

9. അവന് സിംഹംപോലെ പതുങ്ങിക്കിടക്കുന്നു; ഒരു സിംഹികണക്കെത്തന്നേ; ആര് അവനെ ഉണര്ത്തും? നിന്നെ അനുഗ്രഹിക്കുന്നവന് അനുഗ്രഹിക്കപ്പെട്ടവന് ; നിന്നെ ശപിക്കുന്നവന് ശപീക്കപ്പെട്ടവന് .

9. He couched, he lay down as a lion; and as a lioness, who shall rouse him? Blessed [of God] is he who blesses you [who prays for and contributes to your welfare] and cursed [of God] is he who curses you [who in word, thought, or deed would bring harm upon you]. [Matt. 25:40.]

10. അപ്പോള് ബാലാക്കിന്റെ കോപം ബിലെയാമിന്റെ നേരെ ജ്വലിച്ചു; അവന് കൈ ഞെരിച്ചു ബിലെയാമിനോടുഎന്റെ ശത്രുക്കളെ ശപിപ്പാന് ഞാന് നിന്നെ വിളിപ്പിച്ചു; നീയോ ഇവരെ ഈ മൂന്നു പ്രാവശ്യവും ആശീര്വ്വദിക്കയത്രേ ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നു.

10. Then Balak's anger was kindled against Balaam, and he smote his hands together; and Balak said to Balaam, I called you to curse my enemies, and, behold, you have done nothing but bless them these three times.

11. ഇപ്പോള് നിന്റെ സ്ഥലത്തേക്കു ഔടിപ്പോക; നിന്നെ ഏറ്റവും ബഹുമാനിപ്പാന് ഞാന് വിചാരിച്ചിരുന്നു; എന്നാല് യഹോവ നിനക്കു ബഹുമാനം മുടക്കിയിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

11. Therefore now go back where you belong and do it in a hurry! I had intended to promote you to great honor, but behold, the Lord has held you back from honor.

12. അതിന്നു ബിലെയാം ബാലാക്കിനോടു പറഞ്ഞതുബാലാക് തന്റെ ഗൃഹം നിറെച്ചു വെള്ളിയും പൊന്നും തന്നാലും യഹോവയുടെ കല്പന ലംഘിച്ചു ഗുണമെങ്കിലും ദോഷമെങ്കിലും സ്വമേധയായി ചെയ്വാന് എനിക്കു കഴിയുന്നതല്ല; യഹോവ അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നതു മാത്രമേ

12. Balaam said to Balak, Did I not say to your messengers whom you sent to me,

13. ഞാന് പറകയുള്ളു എന്നു എന്റെ അടുക്കല് നീ അയച്ച ദൂതന്മാരോടു ഞാന് പറഞ്ഞില്ലയോ?

13. If Balak would give me his house full of silver and gold, I cannot go beyond the command of the Lord, to do either good or bad of my own will, but what the Lord says, that will I speak?

14. ഇപ്പോള് ഇതാ ഞാന് എന്റെ ജനത്തിന്റെ അടുക്കലേക്കു പോകുന്നു; വരിക, ഭാവികാലത്തു ഈ ജനം നിന്റെ ജനത്തോടു എന്തു ചെയ്യുമെന്നു ഞാന് നിന്നെ അറിയിക്കാം.

14. And now, behold, I am going to my people; come, I will tell you what this people [Israel] will do to your people [Moab] in the latter days.

15. പിന്നെ അവന് സുഭാഷിതം ചൊല്ലിത്തുടങ്ങിയതെന്തെന്നാല്ബെയോരിന്റെ മകന് ബിലെയാം പറയുന്നു; കണ്ണടെച്ചിരിക്കുന്ന പുരുഷന് പറയുന്നു;

15. And he took up his [figurative] discourse, and said: Balaam son of Beor speaks, the man whose eye is opened speaks,

16. ദൈവത്തിന്റെ അരുളപ്പാടു കേള്ക്കുന്നവന് അത്യുന്നതന്റെ പരിജ്ഞാനം പ്രാപിച്ചവന് , സര്വ്വശക്തന്റെ ദര്ശനം ദര്ശിക്കുന്നവന് , വീഴുമ്പോള് കണ്ണു തുറന്നിരിക്കുന്നവന് പറയുന്നതു

16. He speaks, who heard the words of God and knew the knowledge of the Most High, who saw the vision of the Almighty, falling down, but having his eyes open and uncovered:

17. ഞാന് അവനെ കാണും, ഇപ്പോള് അല്ലതാനും; ഞാന് അവനെ ദര്ശിക്കും, അടുത്തല്ലതാനും. യാക്കോബില്നിന്നു ഒരു നക്ഷത്രം ഉദിക്കും; യിസ്രായേലില്നിന്നു ഒരു ചെങ്കോല് ഉയരും. അതു മോവാബിന്റെ പാര്ശ്വങ്ങളെയെല്ലാം തകര്ക്കയും തുമുലപുത്രന്മാരെ ഒക്കെയും സംഹരിക്കയും ചെയ്യും.

17. I see Him, but not now; I behold Him, but He is not near. A star (Star) shall come forth out of Jacob, and a scepter (Scepter) shall rise out of Israel and shall crush all the corners of Moab and break down all the sons of Sheth [Moab's sons of tumult]. [Matt. 2:2; Rom. 15:12.]

18. എദോം ഒരു അധീനദേശമാകും; ശത്രുവായ സെയീരും അധീനദേശമാകും; യിസ്രായേലോ വീര്യം പ്രവര്ത്തിക്കും.

18. And Edom shall be [taken as] a possession, [Mount] Seir also shall be dispossessed, who were Israel's enemies, while Israel does valiantly.

19. യാക്കോബില്നിന്നു ഒരുത്തന് ഭരിക്കും; ഒഴിഞ്ഞുപോയവരെ അവന് നഗരത്തില്നിന്നു നശിപ്പിക്കും.

19. Out of Jacob shall one (One) come having dominion and shall destroy the remnant from the city.

20. അവന് അമാലേക്കിനെ നോക്കി സുഭാഷിതം ചൊല്ലിയതുഅമാലേക് ജാതികളില് മുമ്പന് ; അവന്റെ അവസാനമോ നാശം അത്രേ.

20. [Balaam] looked at Amalek and took up his [prophetic] utterance, and said: Amalek is the foremost of the [neighboring] nations, but in his latter end he shall come to destruction.

21. അവന് കേന്യരെ നോക്കി സുഭാഷിതം ചൊല്ലിയതുനിന്റെ നിവാസം ഉറപ്പുള്ളതുനിന്റെ കൂടു പാറയില് വെച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.

21. And he looked at the Kenites and took up his [prophetic] utterance, and said: Strong is your dwelling place, and you set your nest in the rock.

22. എങ്കിലും കേന്യന്നു നിര്മ്മൂലനാശം ഭവിക്കും; അശ്ശൂര് നിന്നെ പിടിച്ചുകൊണ്ടുപോവാന് ഇനിയെത്ര?

22. Nevertheless the Kenites shall be wasted. How long shall Asshur (Assyria) take you away captive?

23. പിന്നെ അവന് ഈ സുഭാഷിതം ചൊല്ലിയതുഹാ, ദൈവം ഇതു നിവര്ത്തിക്കുമ്പോള് ആര് ജീവിച്ചിരിക്കും?

23. And he took up his [prophetic] speech, and said: Alas, who shall live when God does this and establishes [Assyria]?

24. കിത്തീംതീരത്തുനിന്നു കപ്പലുകള് വരും; അവ അശ്ശൂരിനെ താഴ്ത്തും, ഏബെരിനെയും താഴ്ത്തും. അവന്നും നിര്മ്മൂലനാശം ഭവിക്കും

24. But ships shall come from Kittim [Cyprus and the greater part of the Mediterranean's east coast] and shall afflict Assyria and Eber [the Hebrews, certain Arabs, and descendants of Nahor], and he [the victor] also shall come to destruction.

25. അതിന്റെ ശേഷം ബിലെയാം പുറപ്പെട്ടു തന്റെ സ്ഥലത്തേക്കു മടങ്ങിപ്പോയി; ബാലാക്കും തന്റെ വഴിക്കു പോയി.

25. And Balaam rose up, returned to his place, and Balak also went his way.
