1. ഹെരോദാരാജാവിന്റെ കാലത്തു യേശു യെഹൂദ്യയിലെ ബേത്ത്ളേഹെമില് ജനിച്ചശേഷം, കിഴക്കുനിന്നു വിദ്വാന്മാര് യെരൂശലേമില് എത്തി.

1. When Iesus was borne at Bethleem in Iury in the tyme of Herode the kynge. Beholde there came wyse me from the eest to Ierusalem

2. യെഹൂദന്മാരുടെ രാജാവായി പിറന്നവന് എവിടെ? ഞങ്ങള് അവന്റെ നക്ഷത്രം കിഴക്കു കണ്ടു അവനെ നമസ്കരിപ്പാന് വന്നിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

2. saynge: Where is he yt is borne kynge of ye Iues? We have sene his starre in ye eest and are come to worship him.

3. ഹെരോദാരാജാവു അതു കേട്ടിട്ടു അവനും യെരൂശലേം ഒക്കെയും ഭ്രമിച്ചു,

3. When Herode ye kynge had herde thys he was troubled and all Ierusalem with hym

4. ജനത്തിന്റെ മഹാപുരോഹിതന്മാരെയും ശാസ്ത്രിമാരെയും എല്ലാം കൂട്ടിവരുത്തിക്രിസ്തു എവിടെ ആകുന്നു ജനിക്കുന്നതു എന്നു അവരോടു ചോദിച്ചു.

4. and he gathered all ye chefe Prestes and Scribes of the people and axed of them where Christ shulde be borne.

5. അവര് അവനോടുയെഹൂദ്യയിലെ ബേത്ത്ളേഹെമില് തന്നേ

5. And they sayde vnto hym: at Bethlee in Iury. For thus it is written by the Prophet.

6. “യെഹൂദ്യദേശത്തിലെ ബേത്ത്ളേഹെമേ, നീ യെഹൂദ്യപ്രഭുക്കന്മാരില് ഒട്ടും ചെറുതല്ല; എന്റെ ജനമായ യിസ്രായേലിനെ മേയ്പാനുള്ള തലവന് നിന്നില് നിന്നു പുറപ്പെട്ടുവരും” എന്നിങ്ങനെ പ്രവാചകന് മുഖാന്തരം എഴുതിയിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

6. And thou Bethleem in the londe of Iury art not the leest concernynge the Princes of Iuda. For out of the shall come the captayne that shall govern my people Israhel.

7. എന്നാറെ ഹെരോദാവു വിദ്വാന്മാരെ രഹസ്യമായി വിളിച്ചു, നക്ഷത്രം വെളിവായ സമയം അവരോടു സൂക്ഷ്മമായി ചോദിച്ചറിഞ്ഞു.

7. Then Herod prevely called the wyse men and dyligetly enquyred of them ye tyme of the starre that appered

8. അവരെ ബേത്ത്ളേഹെമിലേക്കു അയച്ചുനിങ്ങള് ചെന്നു ശിശുവിനെക്കുറിച്ചു സൂക്ഷ്മമായി അന്വേഷിപ്പിന് ; കണ്ടെത്തിയാല് ഞാനും ചെന്നു അവനെ നമസ്ക്കുരിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു, വന്നു എന്നെ അറിയിപ്പിന് എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

8. and sent the to Bethleem saynge: Goo and searche dyligetly for ye chylde. And when ye have founde hym bringe me worde yt I maye come and worshippe hym also.

9. രാജാവു പറഞ്ഞതു കേട്ടു അവര് പുറപ്പെട്ടു; അവര് കിഴക്കു കണ്ട നക്ഷത്രം ശിശു ഇരിക്കുന്ന സ്ഥലത്തിന്നു മീതെ വന്നു നിലക്കുവോളം അവര്ക്കുംമുമ്പായി പൊയ്ക്കൊണ്ടിരുന്നു.

9. When they had heard the kynge they departed: and lo the starre which they sawe in ye eeste went before them tyll it came and stode over the place where the chylde was.

10. നക്ഷത്രം കണ്ടതുകൊണ്ടു അവര് അത്യന്തം സന്തോഷിച്ചു

10. When they sawe the starre they were marvelously glad:

11. ആ വീട്ടില് ചെന്നു, ശിശുവിനെ അമ്മയായ മറിയയോടുകൂടെ കണ്ടു, വീണു അവനെ നമസ്കരിച്ചു; നിക്ഷേപപാത്രങ്ങളെ തുറന്നു അവന്നു പൊന്നും കുന്തുരുക്കവും മൂരും കാഴ്ചവെച്ചു.

11. and went into the house and found the chylde with Mary hys mother and kneled doune and worshipped hym and opened their treasures and offred vnto hym gyftes gold frackynsence and myrre.

12. ഹെരോദാവിന്റെ അടുക്കല് മടങ്ങിപ്പോകരുതു എന്നു സ്വപ്നത്തില് അരുളപ്പാടുണ്ടായിട്ടു അവര് വേറെ വഴിയായി സ്വദേശത്തേക്കു മടങ്ങിപ്പോയി.

12. And after they were warned of God in a dreame that they shuld not go ageyne to Herod they retourned into their awne countre another waye.

13. അവര് പോയശേഷം കര്ത്താവിന്റെ ദൂതന് യോസേഫിന്നു സ്വപ്നത്തില് പ്രത്യക്ഷനായിനീ എഴുന്നേറ്റു ശിശുവിനെയും അമ്മയെയും കൂട്ടിക്കൊണ്ടു മിസ്രയീമിലേക്കു ഔടിപ്പോയി, ഞാന് നിന്നോടു പറയുംവരെ അവിടെ പാര്ക്കുംക. ഹെരോദാവു ശിശുവിനെ നശിപ്പിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു അവനെ അന്വേഷിപ്പാന് ഭാവിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

13. When they were departed: beholde the angell of the Lorde appered to Ioseph in dreame sayinge: aryse and take the chylde and his mother and flye into Egypte and abyde there tyll I brynge the worde. For Herod will seke the chylde to destroye hym.

14. അവന് എഴുന്നേറ്റു ശിശുവിനെയും അമ്മയെയും രാത്രിയില് തന്നേ കൂട്ടിക്കൊണ്ടു പുറപ്പെട്ടു മിസ്രയീമിലേക്കു പോയി.

14. The he arose and toke the chylde and his mother by night and departed into Egypte

15. ഹെരോദാവിന്റെ മരണത്തോളം അവന് അവിടെ പാര്ത്തു“മിസ്രയീമില് നിന്നു ഞാന് എന്റെ മകനെ വിളിച്ചുവരുത്തി” എന്നു കര്ത്താവു പ്രവാചകന് മുഖാന്തരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്തതു നിവൃത്തിയാകുവാന് സംഗതിവന്നു.

15. and was there vnto ye deeth of Herod to fulfill that which was spoken of the Lorde by ye Prophet which sayeth out of Egypte haue I called my sonne.

16. വിദ്വാന്മാര് തന്നെ കളിയാക്കി എന്നു ഹെരോദാവു കണ്ടു വളരെ കോപിച്ചു, വിദ്വാന്മാരോടു ചോദിച്ചറിഞ്ഞ കാലത്തിന്നു ഒത്തവണ്ണം രണ്ടു വയസ്സും താഴെയുമുള്ള ആണ്കുട്ടികളെ ഒക്കെയും ബേത്ത്ളേഹെമിലും അതിന്റെ എല്ലാ അതിരുകളിലും ആളയച്ചു കൊല്ലിച്ചു.

16. Then Herod perceavynge yt he was moocked of the wyse men was excedynge wroth and sent forth and slue all the chyldren that were in Bethleem and in all the costes there of as many as were two yere olde and vnder accordynge to the tyme which he had diligetly searched oute of the wyse men.

17. “റാമയില് ഒരു ശബ്ദം കേട്ടു, കരച്ചിലും വലിയ നിലവിളിയും തന്നേ; റാഹേല് മക്കളെച്ചൊല്ലി കരഞ്ഞു; അവര് ഇല്ലായ്കയാല് ആശ്വാസം കൈക്കൊള്വാന് മനസ്സില്ലാതിരുന്നു” എന്നു യിരെമ്യാപ്രവാചകന് മുഖാന്തരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്തതു അന്നു നിവൃത്തിയായി.

17. Then was fulfilled yt which was spoken by the Prophet Ieremy sayinge:

18. എന്നാല് ഹെരോദാവു കഴിഞ്ഞുപോയശേഷം കര്ത്താവിന്റെ ദൂതന് മിസ്രയീമില് വെച്ചു യോസേഫിന്നു സ്വപ്നത്തില് പ്രത്യക്ഷനായി

18. On the hilles was a voyce herde mornynge wepynge and greate lamentacion: Rachel wepynge for her chyldren and wolde not be conforted because they were not.

19. ശിശുവിന്നു പ്രാണഹാനി വരുത്തുവാന് നോക്കിയവര് മരിച്ചുപോയതുകൊണ്ടു നീ എഴുന്നേറ്റു ശിശുവിനെയും അമ്മയേയും കൂട്ടിക്കൊണ്ടു യിസ്രായേല്ദേശത്തേക്കു പോക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

19. When Herode was deed: beholde an angell of ye Lorde appered in a dreame to Ioseph in Egypte

20. അവന് എഴുന്നേറ്റു ശിശുവിനെയും അമ്മയെയും കൂട്ടിക്കൊണ്ടു യിസ്രായേല്ദേശത്തു വന്നു.

20. sayinge: arise and take ye chylde and his mother and go into ye londe of Israel. For they are deed which sought ye chyldes life.

21. എന്നാല് യെഹൂദ്യയില് അര്ക്കെലയൊസ് തന്റെ അപ്പനായ ഹെരോദാവിന്നു പകരം വാഴുന്നു എന്നു കേട്ടതുകൊണ്ടു അവിടെ പോകുവാന് ഭയപ്പെട്ടു, സ്വപ്നത്തില് അരുളപ്പാടുണ്ടായിട്ടു ഗലീലപ്രദേശങ്ങളിലേക്കു മാറിപ്പോയി.

21. The he arose vp and toke ye chylde and his mother and cam into the londe of Israhel.

22. അവന് നസറായന് എന്നു വിളിക്കപ്പെടും എന്നു പ്രവാചകന്മാര്മുഖാന്തരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്തതു നിവൃത്തിയാവാന് തക്കവണ്ണം നസറെത്ത് എന്ന ഗ്രാമത്തില് ചെന്നു പാര്ത്തു.

22. But whe he hearde yt Archelaus did raygne in Iury in ye roume of his father Herode he was afrayde to goo thither. Not withstondynge after he was warned of god in a dreame he turned a syde into ye parties of Galile
