1. അനന്തരം പിശാചിനാല് പരീക്ഷിക്കപ്പെടുവാന് യേശുവിനെ ആത്മാവു മരുഭൂമിയിലേക്കു നടത്തി.

1. The Holy Spirit led Jesus into the desert. There the devil tempted him.

2. അവന് നാല്പതു പകലും നാല്പതു രാവും ഉപവസിച്ച ശേഷം അവന്നു വിശന്നു.
പുറപ്പാടു് 34:28

2. After 40 days and 40 nights of going without eating, Jesus was hungry.

3. അപ്പോള് പരീക്ഷകന് അടുത്തു വന്നുനീ ദൈവപുത്രന് എങ്കില് ഈ കല്ലു അപ്പമായ്തീരുവാന് കല്പിക്ക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

3. The tempter came to him. He said, 'If you are the Son of God, tell these stones to become bread.'

4. അതിന്നു അവന് “മനുഷ്യന് അപ്പംകൊണ്ടു മാത്രമല്ല, ദൈവത്തിന്റെ വായില്കൂടി വരുന്ന സകലവചനംകൊണ്ടും ജീവിക്കുന്നു” എന്നു എഴുതിയിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.

4. Jesus answered, 'It is written, 'Man doesn't live only on bread. He also lives on every word that comes from the mouth of God.' '--(Deuteronomy 8:3)

5. Then the devil took Jesus to the holy city. He had him stand on the highest point of the temple.

6. നീ ദൈവപുത്രന് എങ്കില് താഴത്തോട്ടു ചാടുക; “നിന്നെക്കുറിച്ചു അവന് തന്റെ ദൂതന്മാരോടു കല്പിക്കും; അവന് നിന്റെ കാല് കല്ലിനോടു തട്ടാതവണ്ണം നിന്നെ കയ്യില് താങ്ങികൊള്ളും” എന്നു എഴുതിയിരിക്കുന്നുവല്ലോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

6. 'If you are the Son of God,' he said, 'throw yourself down. It is written, ' 'The Lord will command his angels to take good care of you. They will lift you up in their hands. Then you won't trip over a stone.' ' --(Psalm 91:11,12)

7. യേശു അവനോടു“നിന്റെ ദൈവമായ കര്ത്താവിനെ പരീക്ഷിക്കരുതു” എന്നും കൂടെ എഴുതിയിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

8. പിന്നെ പിശാചു അവനെ ഏറ്റവും ഉയര്ന്നോരു മലമേല് കൂട്ടികൊണ്ടുപോയി ലോകത്തിലുള്ള സകല രാജ്യങ്ങളെയും അവയുടെ മഹത്വത്തെയും കാണിച്ചു

8. Finally, the devil took Jesus to a very high mountain. He showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory.

9. വീണു എന്നെ നമസ്കരിച്ചാല് ഇതൊക്കെയും നിനക്കു തരാം എന്നു അവനോടു പറഞ്ഞു.

9. If you bow down and worship me,' he said, 'I will give you all of this.'

10. യേശു അവനോടുസാത്താനേ, എന്നെ വിട്ടുപോ; “നിന്റെ ദൈവമായ കര്ത്താവിനെ നമസ്കരിച്ചു അവനെ മാത്രമേ ആരാധിക്കാവു” എന്നു എഴുതിയിരിക്കുന്നുവല്ലോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

10. Jesus said to him, 'Get away from me, Satan! It is written, 'Worship the Lord your God. He is the only one you should serve.' '--(Deuteronomy 6:13)

11. അപ്പോള് പിശാചു അവനെ വിട്ടുപോയി; ദൂതന്മാര് അടുത്തുവന്നു അവനെ ശുശ്രൂഷിച്ചു.

11. Then the devil left Jesus. Angels came and took care of him.

12. യോഹന്നാന് തടവില് ആയി എന്നു കേട്ടാറെ അവന് ഗലീലെക്കു വാങ്ങിപ്പോയി,

12. John had been put in prison. When Jesus heard about this, he returned to Galilee.

13. നസറെത്ത് വിട്ടു സെബൂലൂന്റെയും നഫ്താലിയുടെയും അതിരുകളില് കടല്ക്കരെയുള്ള കഫര്ന്നഹൂമില് ചെന്നു പാര്ത്തു;

13. Jesus left Nazareth. He went to live in the city of Capernaum. It was by the lake in the area of Zebulun and Naphtali.

14. “സെബൂലൂന് ദേശവും നഫ്താലിദേശവും കടല്ക്കരയിലും യോര്ദ്ദാന്നക്കരെയുമുള്ള നാടും ജാതികളുടെ ഗലീലയും .”

14. In that way, what the prophet Isaiah had said came true. He had said,

15. ഇങ്ങനെ ഇരുട്ടില് ഇരിക്കുന്ന ജനം വലിയോരു വെളിച്ചം കണ്ടു; മരണത്തിന്റെ ദേശത്തിലും നിഴലിലും ഇരിക്കുന്നവര്ക്കും പ്രകാശം ഉദിച്ചു”
യെശയ്യാ 9:1-2

15. Land of Zebulun! Land of Naphtali! Galilee, where non?Jewish people live! Land along the Mediterranean Sea! Territory east of the Jordan River!

16. എന്നു യെശയ്യാപ്രവാചകന് മുഖാന്തരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്തതു നിവൃത്തിയാകുവാന് ഇടവന്നു.
യെശയ്യാ 9:1-2

16. The people who are now living in darkness will see a great light. They are now living in a very dark land. But a light will shine on them.' --(Isaiah 9:1,2)

17. അന്നുമുതല് യേശു“സ്വര്ഗ്ഗരാജ്യം സമീപിച്ചിരിക്കയാല് മാനസാന്തരപ്പെടുവിന് ” എന്നു പ്രസംഗിച്ചു തുടങ്ങി.

17. From that time on Jesus began to preach. 'Turn away from your sins!' he said. 'The kingdom of heaven is near.'

18. അവന് ഗലീലക്കടല്പുറത്തു നടക്കുമ്പോള് പത്രൊസ് എന്നു പേരുള്ള ശിമോന് , അവന്റെ സഹോദരനായ അന്ത്രെയാസ് എന്നിങ്ങനെ മീന് പിടിക്കാരായ രണ്ടു സഹോദരന്മാര് കടലില് വല വീശുന്നതു കണ്ടു

18. One day Jesus was walking beside the Sea of Galilee. There he saw two brothers. They were Simon Peter and his brother Andrew. They were throwing a net into the lake. They were fishermen.

19. “എന്റെ പിന്നാലെ വരുവിന് ; ഞാന് നിങ്ങളെ മനുഷ്യരെ പിടിക്കുന്നവരാക്കും” എന്നു അവരോടു പറഞ്ഞു.

19. 'Come. Follow me,' Jesus said. 'I will make you fishers of people.'

20. ഉടനെ അവര് വല വിട്ടേച്ചു അവനെ അനുഗമിച്ചു.

20. At once they left their nets and followed him.

21. അവിടെ നിന്നു മുമ്പോട്ടു പോയാറെ സെബെദിയുടെ മകന് യാക്കോബും അവന്റെ സഹോദരന് യോഹന്നാനും എന്ന വേറെ രണ്ടു സഹോദരന്മാര് പടകില് ഇരുന്നു അപ്പനായ സെബദിയുമായി വല നന്നാക്കുന്നതു കണ്ടു അവരെയും വിളിച്ചു.

21. Going on from there, he saw two other brothers. They were James, son of Zebedee, and his brother John. They were in a boat with their father Zebedee. As they were preparing their nets, Jesus called out to them.

22. അവരും ഉടനെ പടകിനെയും അപ്പനെയും വിട്ടു അവനെ അനുഗമിച്ചു.

22. Right away they left the boat and their father and followed Jesus.

23. പിന്നെ യേശു ഗലീലയില് ഒക്കെയും ചുറ്റി സഞ്ചരിച്ചുകൊണ്ടു അവരുടെ പള്ളികളില് ഉപദേശിക്കയും രാജ്യത്തിന്റെ സുവിശേഷം പ്രസംഗിക്കയും ജനത്തിലുള്ള സകലദീനത്തെയും വ്യാധിയെയും സൌഖ്യമാക്കുകയും ചെയ്തു.

23. Jesus went all over Galilee. There he taught in the synagogues. He preached the good news of God's kingdom. He healed every illness and sickness the people had.

24. അവന്റെ ശ്രുതി സുറിയയില് ഒക്കെയും പരന്നു. നാനാവ്യാധികളാലും ബാധകളാലും വലഞ്ഞവര്, ഭൂതഗ്രസ്തര്, ചന്ദ്രരോഗികള്, പക്ഷവാതക്കാര് ഇങ്ങനെ സകലവിധ ദീനക്കാരെയും അവന്റെ അടുക്കല് കൊണ്ടു വന്നു.

24. News about him spread all over Syria. People brought to him all who were ill with different kinds of sicknesses. Some were suffering great pain. Others were controlled by demons. Some were shaking wildly. Others couldn't move at all. And Jesus healed all of them.

25. അവന് അവരെ സൌഖ്യമാക്കി; ഗലീല, ദെക്കപ്പൊലി, യെരൂശലേം, യെഹൂദ്യ, യോര്ദ്ദന്നക്കരെ എന്നീ ഇടങ്ങളില് നിന്നു വളരെ പുരുഷാരം അവനെ പിന് തുടര്ന്നു.

25. Large crowds followed him. Some people came from Galilee, from the area known as the Ten Cities, and from Jerusalem and Judea. Others came from the area across the Jordan River.
