1. ഉടനെ അതികാലത്തു തന്നെ മഹാപുരോഹിതന്മാരും മൂപ്പന്മാരും ശാസ്ത്രിമാരുമായി ന്യായാധിപസംഘം ഒക്കെയും കൂടി ആലോചിച്ചു യേശുവിനെ കെട്ടി കൊണ്ടു പോയി പീലാത്തൊസിനെ ഏല്പിച്ചു.

1. And, straightway, early, when they had made, a council, the High-priest, with the Elders, and Scribes, and all the High-council, binding Jesus, led him away, and delivered him up unto Pilate.

2. പീലാത്തൊസ് അവനോടുനീ യെഹൂദന്മാരുടെ രാജാവോ എന്നു ചോദിച്ചതിന്നുഞാന് ആകുന്നു എന്നു അവന് ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.

2. And Pilate questioned him Art, thou, the king of the Jews? And, he, answering him, saith Thou, sayest.

3. മഹാപുരോഹിതന്മാര് അവനെ ഏറിയോന്നു കുറ്റം ചുമത്തി.

3. And the High-priests began to accuse him, of many things.

4. പീലാത്തൊസ് പിന്നെയും അവനോടു ചോദിച്ചുനീ ഒരുത്തരവും പറയുന്നില്ലയോ? ഇതാ, അവര് നിന്നെ എന്തെല്ലാം കുറ്റം ചുമത്തുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

4. And, Pilate, again, was questioning him, saying Answerest thou, nothing? See! of how many things, they are accusing thee!

5. യേശു പിന്നെയും ഉത്തരം ഒന്നും പറയായ്കയാല് പീലാത്തൊസ് ആശ്ചര്യപ്പെട്ടു.

5. But, Jesus, no further, answered, anything, so that Pilate began to marvel.

6. അവന് ഉത്സവംതോറും അവര് ചോദിക്കുന്ന ഒരു തടവുകാരനെ അവര്ക്കും വിട്ടുകൊടുക്ക പതിവായിരുന്നു.

6. Now, at feast time, he was wont to release unto them one prisoner, whom they were claiming.

7. എന്നാല് ഒരു കലഹത്തില് കുല ചെയ്തവരായ കലഹക്കാരോടുകൂടെ ബന്ധിച്ചിരുന്ന ബറബ്ബാസ് എന്നു പേരുള്ള ഒരുത്തന് ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു.

7. And there was the so-called Barabbas, with the rebels, bound, even with them who, in the rebellion, had committed, murder.

8. പുരുഷാരം കയറി വന്നു, അവന് പതിവുപോലെ ചെയ്യേണം എന്നു അപേക്ഷിച്ചുതുടങ്ങി.

8. And, going up, the multitude began to be claiming according as he was wont to do for them.

9. മഹാപുരോഹിതന്മാര് അസൂയകൊണ്ടു അവനെ ഏല്പിച്ചു എന്നു പീലാത്തൊസ് അറിഞ്ഞതുകൊണ്ടു അവരോടു

9. But, Pilate, answered them, saying Will ye, I release unto you, the King of the Jews?

10. യെഹൂദന്മാരുടെ രാജാവിനെ നിങ്ങള്ക്കു വിട്ടുതരേണം എന്നു ഇച്ഛിക്കുന്നുവോ എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.

10. For he was getting to know that, for envy, had the High-priests delivered him up.

11. എന്നാല് അവന് ബറബ്ബാസിനെ വിട്ടുകൊടുക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു ചോദിപ്പാന് മഹാപുരോഹിതന്മാര് പുരുഷാരത്തെ ഉത്സാഹിപ്പിച്ചു കൊണ്ടിരുന്നു.

11. But, the High-priests, stirred up the multitude, that, rather Barabbas, he should release unto them.

12. പീലാത്തൊസ് പിന്നെയും അവരോടുഎന്നാല് യെഹൂദന്മാരുടെ രാജാവു എന്നു നിങ്ങള് പറയുന്നവനെ ഞാന് എന്തു ചെയ്യേണം എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.

12. But, Pilate, again answering, was saying unto them What then shall I do with him whom ye call, the King of the Jews?

13. അവനെ ക്രൂശിക്ക എന്നു അവര് വീണ്ടും നിലവിളിച്ചു.

13. And, they, again, cried out Crucify him!

14. പീലാത്തൊസ് അവരോടുഅവന് എന്തു ദോഷം ചെയ്തു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞാറെ, അവനെ ക്രൂശിക്ക എന്നു അവര് അധികമായി നിലവിളിച്ചു.

14. But, Pilate, was saying unto them Why! what, evil, hath he done? And, they, vehemently, cried out Crucify him!

15. പീലാത്തൊസ് പുരുഷാരത്തിന്നു തൃപ്തിവരുത്തുവാന് ഇച്ഛിച്ചു ബറബ്ബാസിനെ അവര്ക്കും വിട്ടുകൊടുത്തു യേശുവിനെ ചമ്മട്ടികൊണ്ടു അടിപ്പിച്ചു ക്രൂശിപ്പാന് ഏല്പിച്ചു.

15. And Pilate, being minded to do what would satisfy, the multitude, released unto them Barabbas, and delivered up Jesus, having scourged him, that he should be crucified.

16. പടയാളികള് അവനെ ആസ്ഥാനമായ മണ്ഡപത്തിന്നകത്തു കൊണ്ടുപോയി പട്ടാളത്തെ എല്ലാം വിളിച്ചുകൂട്ടി.

16. And, the soldiers, led him away, inside the court, which is a judgment-hall, and called together the whole band;

17. അവനെ രക്താംബരം ധരിപ്പിച്ചു, മുള്ളുകൊണ്ടു ഒരു കിരീടം മെടഞ്ഞു അവനെ ചൂടിച്ചു

17. and they array him in purple, and set upon him, when they have plaited it; a crown of thorns,

18. യെഹൂദന്മാരുടെ രാജാവേ, ജയജയ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു വന്ദിച്ചു;

18. and began to be saluting him Joy to thee! King of the Jews!

19. കോല്കൊണ്ടു അവന്റെ തലയില് അടിച്ചു, അവനെ തുപ്പി, മുട്ടുകുത്തി അവനെ നമസ്കരിച്ചു.

19. and were striking him on the head with a reed, and were spitting at him, and, bowing their knees, were doing him homage.

20. അങ്ങനെ അവനെ പരിഹസിച്ച ശേഷം അവര് രക്താംബരം നീക്കി സ്വന്ത വസ്ത്രം ധരിപ്പിച്ചു അവനെ ക്രൂശിപ്പാന് കൊണ്ടുപോയി.

20. And, when they had mocked him, they put off him, the purple, and put on him, his own garments. And they lead him forth, that they may crucify him.

21. അലക്സന്തരിന്റെയും രൂഫൊസിന്റെയും അപ്പനായി വയലില് നിന്നു വരുന്ന കുറേനക്കാരനായ ശിമോനെ അവന്റെ ക്രൂശ് ചുമപ്പാന് അവര് നിര്ബന്ധിച്ചു.

21. And they impress a certain passer-by, Simon a Cyrenian, coming from a field, the father of Alexander and Rufus, that he may carry his cross.

22. തലയോടിടം എന്നര്ത്ഥമുള്ള ഗൊല്ഗോഥാ എന്ന സ്ഥലത്തേക്കു അവനെ കൊണ്ടുപോയി;

22. And they bring him unto the Golgotha place, which is, being translated, Skull-place.

23. കണ്ടിവെണ്ണ കലര്ത്തിയ വീഞ്ഞു അവന്നു കൊടുത്തു; അവനോ വാങ്ങിയില്ല.

23. And they would have given him, myrrhed wine, who, however, received it not.

24. അവനെ ക്രൂശിച്ചശേഷം അവന്റെ വസ്ത്രം ഇന്നവന്നു ഇന്നതു കിട്ടേണം എന്നു ചീട്ടിട്ടു പകുതി ചെയ്തു.

24. And they crucify him, and part asunder his garments, casting a lot upon them who should have anything.

25. And it was the third hour, and they crucified him.

26. യെഹൂദന്മാരുടെ രാജാവു എന്നിങ്ങനെ അവന്റെ കുറ്റം മീതെ എഴുതിയിരുന്നു.

26. And the inscription of his accusation, had been inscribed THE KING OF THE JEWS.

27. അവര് രണ്ടു കള്ളന്മാരെ ഒരുത്തനെ വലത്തും ഒരുത്തനെ ഇടത്തുമായി അവനോടുകൂടെ ക്രൂശിച്ചു.

27. And, with him, they crucify, two robbers, one on his right hand, and one on his left.

28. (അധര്മ്മികളുടെ കൂട്ടത്തില് അവനെ എണ്ണി എന്നുള്ള തിരുവെഴുത്തു നിവൃത്തിയായി.)

29. And, the passers-by, were reviling him, shaking their heads, and saying Aha! thou who wast pulling down the shrine, and building one in three days!

30. നിന്നെത്തന്നേ രക്ഷിച്ചു ക്രൂശില് നിന്നു ഇറങ്ങിവാ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു അവനെ ദുഷിച്ചു.

30. Save thyself, coming down from the cross.

31. അങ്ങനെ തന്നേ മഹാപുരോഹിതന്മാരും അവനെ പരിഹസിച്ചുഇവന് മറ്റുള്ളവരെ രക്ഷിച്ചു തന്നെത്താന് രക്ഷിപ്പാന് വഹിയാ.

31. Likewise, the High-priests also, mocking one to another, with the Scribes, were saying Others, he saved, himself, he cannot save!

32. നാം കണ്ടു വിശ്വസിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു ക്രിസ്തു എന്ന യിസ്രായേല് രാജാവു ഇപ്പോള് ക്രൂശില് നിന്നു ഇറങ്ങിവരട്ടെ എന്നു തമ്മില് പറഞ്ഞു; അവനോടുകൂടെ ക്രൂശിക്കപ്പെട്ടവരും അവനെ പഴിച്ചു പറഞ്ഞു.

32. The Christ, the King of Israel let him come down now from the cross, that we may see and believe. And, they who had been crucified with him, were casting it in his teeth.

33. ആറാം മണിനേരമായപ്പോള് ഒമ്പതാം മണിനേരത്തോളം ദേശത്തു എല്ലാ ഇരുട്ടു ഉണ്ടായി. ഒമ്പതാം മണിനേരത്തു യേശുഎന്റെ ദൈവമേ, എന്റെ ദൈവമേ, നീ എന്നെ കൈവിട്ടതു എന്തു എന്നു അര്ത്ഥമുള്ള എലോഹീ, എലോഹീ ലമ്മാ ശബ്ബക്താനീ എന്നു അത്യുച്ചത്തില് നിലവിളിച്ചു.

33. And, when it was the sixth hour, darkness, came on all the land until the ninth hour;

34. അരികെ നിന്നവരില് ചിലര് കേട്ടിട്ടുഅവന് ഏലീയാവെ വിളിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

34. and, at the ninth hour, Jesus, uttered a cry, with a loud voice Eloi! Eloi! lama sabachthanei? which is, being translated My God! My God! to what end, didst thou forsake me?

35. ഒരുത്തന് ഔടി ഒരു സ്പോങ്ങില് പുളിച്ചവീഞ്ഞു നിറെച്ചു ഒരു ഔടക്കോലിന്മേലാക്കിനില്പിന് ; ഏലീയാവു അവനെ ഇറക്കുവാന് വരുമോ എന്നു നമുക്കു കാണാം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു അവന്നു കുടിപ്പാന് കൊടുത്തു.

35. And, some of the by-standers, having heard, were saying See! Elijah, he calleth!

36. യേശു ഉറക്കെ നിലവിളിച്ചു പ്രാണനെ വിട്ടു.

36. And one, running, filled a sponge with vinegar, and, putting it about a reed, was giving him to drink, saying Stay! let us see whether Elijah is coming, to take him down!

37. ഉടനെ മന്ദിരത്തിലെ തിരശ്ശീല മേല്തൊട്ടു അടിയോളവും രണ്ടായി ചീന്തിപ്പോയി.

37. But, Jesus, sending out a loud voice, ceased to breathe.

38. അവന്നു എതിരെ നിന്നിരുന്ന ശതാധിപന് അവന് ഇങ്ങനെ പ്രാണനെ വിട്ടതു കണ്ടിട്ടുമനുഷ്യന് ദൈവപുത്രന് ആയിരുന്നു സത്യം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

38. And, the veil of the Temple, was rent into two, from top to bottom.

39. സ്ത്രീകളും ദൂരത്തുനിന്നു നോക്കിക്കൊണ്ടിരുന്നു; അവരില് മഗ്ദലക്കാരത്തി മറിയയും ചെറിയ യാക്കോബിന്റെയും യോസെയുടെയും അമ്മ മറിയയും ചെറിയ യാക്കോബിന്റെയും യോസെയുടെയും അമ്മ മറിയയും ശലോമയും ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു.

39. Now the centurion, who was standing near, out over against him, seeing, that, thus, he ceased to breathe, said Truly, this man, was God's son!

40. അവന് ഗലീലയില് ഇരിക്കുമ്പോള് അവര് അവനെ അനുഗമിച്ചും ശുശ്രൂഷിച്ചും പോന്നു; അവനോടുകൂടെ യെരൂശലേമിലേക്കു വന്ന മറ്റു സ്ത്രീകളും ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു.

40. And there were, women also, from afar, looking on, among whom were both Mary the Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James the Little and Joses, and Salome;

41. വൈകുന്നേരമായപ്പോള് ശബ്ബത്തിന്റെ തലനാളായ ഒരുക്കനാള് ആകകൊണ്ടു ശ്രേഷ്ഠമന്ത്രിയും ദൈവരാജ്യത്തെ കാത്തിരുന്നവനുമായ അരിമത്ഥ്യയിലെ യോസേഫ് വന്നു ധൈര്യത്തോടെ പീലാത്തൊസിന്റെ അടുക്കല് ചെന്നു യേശുവിന്റെ ശരീരം ചോദിച്ചു.

41. who, when he was in Galilee, used to follow him, and minister unto him, and many other women, who had come up with him unto Jerusalem.

42. അവന് മരിച്ചുകഴിഞ്ഞുവോ എന്നു പീലാത്തൊസ് ആശ്ചര്യപ്പെട്ടു ശതാധിപനെ വിളിച്ചുഅവന് മരിച്ചിട്ടു ഒട്ടുനേരമായോ എന്നു ശതാധിപനോടു വസ്തുത ചോദിച്ചറിഞ്ഞിട്ടു ഉടല് യോസേഫിന്നു നല്കി.

42. And evening, already, having begun, since it was a preparation, that is, the eve of a Sabbath,

43. അവന് ഒരു ശീല വാങ്ങി അവനെ ഇറക്കി ശീലയില് ചുറ്റിപ്പൊതിഞ്ഞു, പാറയില് വെട്ടീട്ടുള്ള കല്ലറയില് വെച്ചു, കല്ലറവാതില്ക്കല് ഒരു കല്ലു ഉരുട്ടിവെച്ചു;

43. Joseph of Arimathaea, a noble counsellor, who, also himself, was awaiting the kingdom of God, came; and, venturing, went in unto Pilate, and claimed the body of Jesus.

44. അവനെ വെച്ച ഇടം മഗ്ദലക്കാരത്തി മറിയയും യോസെയുടെ അമ്മ മറിയയും നോക്കിക്കണ്ടു.

44. But, Pilate, wondered whether, already, he was dead; and, calling near the centurion, questioned him whether he had, already, died.
