1. ഉടനെ അതികാലത്തു തന്നെ മഹാപുരോഹിതന്മാരും മൂപ്പന്മാരും ശാസ്ത്രിമാരുമായി ന്യായാധിപസംഘം ഒക്കെയും കൂടി ആലോചിച്ചു യേശുവിനെ കെട്ടി കൊണ്ടു പോയി പീലാത്തൊസിനെ ഏല്പിച്ചു.

1. And anon in the dawning held the high priests a council with the seniors(elders) and the scribes; And also the whole congregation,(councell) and bound Jesus and led him away, and delivered him to Pilate.

2. പീലാത്തൊസ് അവനോടുനീ യെഹൂദന്മാരുടെ രാജാവോ എന്നു ചോദിച്ചതിന്നുഞാന് ആകുന്നു എന്നു അവന് ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.

2. And Pilate asked him: art thou the King of the Jews? And he answered, and said unto him: thou sayest it.

3. മഹാപുരോഹിതന്മാര് അവനെ ഏറിയോന്നു കുറ്റം ചുമത്തി.

3. And the high priests accused him of many things.

4. പീലാത്തൊസ് പിന്നെയും അവനോടു ചോദിച്ചുനീ ഒരുത്തരവും പറയുന്നില്ലയോ? ഇതാ, അവര് നിന്നെ എന്തെല്ലാം കുറ്റം ചുമത്തുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

4. (Wherefore) Pilate asked him again, saying: Answerest thou nothing? Behold how many things they lay unto thy charge.

5. യേശു പിന്നെയും ഉത്തരം ഒന്നും പറയായ്കയാല് പീലാത്തൊസ് ആശ്ചര്യപ്പെട്ടു.
യെശയ്യാ 53:7

5. Jesus yet answered never a word, so that Pilate marveled.

6. അവന് ഉത്സവംതോറും അവര് ചോദിക്കുന്ന ഒരു തടവുകാരനെ അവര്ക്കും വിട്ടുകൊടുക്ക പതിവായിരുന്നു.

6. At the(that) feast Pilate was wont to deliver at their pleasure a prisoner: whomsoever they would desire.

7. എന്നാല് ഒരു കലഹത്തില് കുല ചെയ്തവരായ കലഹക്കാരോടുകൂടെ ബന്ധിച്ചിരുന്ന ബറബ്ബാസ് എന്നു പേരുള്ള ഒരുത്തന് ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു.

7. And there was one named Barabas, which lay bound with them,(the seditious) that caused(made) insurrection, and in the insurrection(uproar) committed murder.

8. പുരുഷാരം കയറി വന്നു, അവന് പതിവുപോലെ ചെയ്യേണം എന്നു അപേക്ഷിച്ചുതുടങ്ങി.

8. And the people called unto him, and began to desire of him, according as he had ever done unto them.

9. മഹാപുരോഹിതന്മാര് അസൂയകൊണ്ടു അവനെ ഏല്പിച്ചു എന്നു പീലാത്തൊസ് അറിഞ്ഞതുകൊണ്ടു അവരോടു

9. Pilate answered them, and said: Will ye that I loose unto you the King of the Jews?

10. യെഹൂദന്മാരുടെ രാജാവിനെ നിങ്ങള്ക്കു വിട്ടുതരേണം എന്നു ഇച്ഛിക്കുന്നുവോ എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.

10. For he knew that the high priests had delivered him of envy.

11. എന്നാല് അവന് ബറബ്ബാസിനെ വിട്ടുകൊടുക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു ചോദിപ്പാന് മഹാപുരോഹിതന്മാര് പുരുഷാരത്തെ ഉത്സാഹിപ്പിച്ചു കൊണ്ടിരുന്നു.

11. But the high priests had moved the people that he should rather deliver Barabas unto them.

12. പീലാത്തൊസ് പിന്നെയും അവരോടുഎന്നാല് യെഹൂദന്മാരുടെ രാജാവു എന്നു നിങ്ങള് പറയുന്നവനെ ഞാന് എന്തു ചെയ്യേണം എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.

12. (And) Pilate answered again, and said unto them: What will ye then that I do with him, whom ye call the(ye accuse to be) King of the Jews?

13. അവനെ ക്രൂശിക്ക എന്നു അവര് വീണ്ടും നിലവിളിച്ചു.

13. And they cried again: crucify him.

14. പീലാത്തൊസ് അവരോടുഅവന് എന്തു ദോഷം ചെയ്തു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞാറെ, അവനെ ക്രൂശിക്ക എന്നു അവര് അധികമായി നിലവിളിച്ചു.

14. Pilate said unto them: What evil hath he done? And they cried the more fervently: Crucify him.

15. പീലാത്തൊസ് പുരുഷാരത്തിന്നു തൃപ്തിവരുത്തുവാന് ഇച്ഛിച്ചു ബറബ്ബാസിനെ അവര്ക്കും വിട്ടുകൊടുത്തു യേശുവിനെ ചമ്മട്ടികൊണ്ടു അടിപ്പിച്ചു ക്രൂശിപ്പാന് ഏല്പിച്ചു.

15. (And so) Pilate willing to content the people, loosed(lowsed) them Barabas; And delivered Jesus (when he had) scourged (him) for to be crucified.

16. പടയാളികള് അവനെ ആസ്ഥാനമായ മണ്ഡപത്തിന്നകത്തു കൊണ്ടുപോയി പട്ടാളത്തെ എല്ലാം വിളിച്ചുകൂട്ടി.

16. And the soldiers led him away into the common hall, and called together the whole multitude,

17. അവനെ രക്താംബരം ധരിപ്പിച്ചു, മുള്ളുകൊണ്ടു ഒരു കിരീടം മെടഞ്ഞു അവനെ ചൂടിച്ചു

17. and they clothed him with purple, and they plaited a crown of thorns and crowned him withal;

18. യെഹൂദന്മാരുടെ രാജാവേ, ജയജയ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു വന്ദിച്ചു;

18. And began to salute him: Hail King of the Jews.

19. കോല്കൊണ്ടു അവന്റെ തലയില് അടിച്ചു, അവനെ തുപ്പി, മുട്ടുകുത്തി അവനെ നമസ്കരിച്ചു.

19. And they smote him on the head with a reed, and spat upon him, and kneeled down and worshipped him.

20. അങ്ങനെ അവനെ പരിഹസിച്ച ശേഷം അവര് രക്താംബരം നീക്കി സ്വന്ത വസ്ത്രം ധരിപ്പിച്ചു അവനെ ക്രൂശിപ്പാന് കൊണ്ടുപോയി.

20. And when they had mocked him, they took the purple off him, and put his own clothes on him, and led him out, to crucify him.

21. അലക്സന്തരിന്റെയും രൂഫൊസിന്റെയും അപ്പനായി വയലില് നിന്നു വരുന്ന കുറേനക്കാരനായ ശിമോനെ അവന്റെ ക്രൂശ് ചുമപ്പാന് അവര് നിര്ബന്ധിച്ചു.

21. And they compelled one that passed by, called Simon of Cyrene (which came out of the field, and was father of Alexander and Rufus) to bear his cross.

22. തലയോടിടം എന്നര്ത്ഥമുള്ള ഗൊല്ഗോഥാ എന്ന സ്ഥലത്തേക്കു അവനെ കൊണ്ടുപോയി;

22. And they brought him to a place named Golgotha (which is by interpretation, the place of dead men's skulls)

23. കണ്ടിവെണ്ണ കലര്ത്തിയ വീഞ്ഞു അവന്നു കൊടുത്തു; അവനോ വാങ്ങിയില്ല.

23. and they gave him to drink wine mingled with myrrh, but he received it not.

24. അവനെ ക്രൂശിച്ചശേഷം അവന്റെ വസ്ത്രം ഇന്നവന്നു ഇന്നതു കിട്ടേണം എന്നു ചീട്ടിട്ടു പകുതി ചെയ്തു.

24. And when they had crucified him, they parted his garments, casting lots for them, what every man should have.

25. മൂന്നാം മണി നേരമായപ്പോള് അവനെ ക്രൂശിച്ചു.

25. And it was about the third hour, and they crucified him.

26. യെഹൂദന്മാരുടെ രാജാവു എന്നിങ്ങനെ അവന്റെ കുറ്റം മീതെ എഴുതിയിരുന്നു.

26. And the title of the(his) cause of his death was written:(title of his cause was written over above him (namely:)) The King of the Jews.

27. അവര് രണ്ടു കള്ളന്മാരെ ഒരുത്തനെ വലത്തും ഒരുത്തനെ ഇടത്തുമായി അവനോടുകൂടെ ക്രൂശിച്ചു.

27. And they crucified with him two thieves:(murtherers) the one on his(the) right hand, and the other on his left hand.

28. (അധര്മ്മികളുടെ കൂട്ടത്തില് അവനെ എണ്ണി എന്നുള്ള തിരുവെഴുത്തു നിവൃത്തിയായി.)

28. And the scripture was fulfilled, which sayeth: and he was counted among the wicked.(evil doers)

29. കടന്നു പോകുന്നവര് തല കുലുക്കിക്കൊണ്ടുഹാ, ഹാ, മന്ദിരം പൊളിച്ചു മൂന്നു നാളുകൊണ്ടു പണിയുന്നവനേ,

29. And they that went by, railed on him: wagging their heads, and saying: A wretch, that destroyest the temple and buildest it in three days.

30. നിന്നെത്തന്നേ രക്ഷിച്ചു ക്രൂശില് നിന്നു ഇറങ്ങിവാ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു അവനെ ദുഷിച്ചു.

30. Save thyself, and come down from the cross.

31. അങ്ങനെ തന്നേ മഹാപുരോഹിതന്മാരും അവനെ പരിഹസിച്ചുഇവന് മറ്റുള്ളവരെ രക്ഷിച്ചു തന്നെത്താന് രക്ഷിപ്പാന് വഹിയാ.

31. Likewise also mocked him the high priests among themselves with the scribes, and said: He saved other men, himself he cannot save.

32. നാം കണ്ടു വിശ്വസിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു ക്രിസ്തു എന്ന യിസ്രായേല് രാജാവു ഇപ്പോള് ക്രൂശില് നിന്നു ഇറങ്ങിവരട്ടെ എന്നു തമ്മില് പറഞ്ഞു; അവനോടുകൂടെ ക്രൂശിക്കപ്പെട്ടവരും അവനെ പഴിച്ചു പറഞ്ഞു.

32. Let Christ the King of Israel now descend from the cross, that we may see and believe. And they that were crucified with him, checked him also.

33. ആറാം മണിനേരമായപ്പോള് ഒമ്പതാം മണിനേരത്തോളം ദേശത്തു എല്ലാ ഇരുട്ടു ഉണ്ടായി. ഒമ്പതാം മണിനേരത്തു യേശുഎന്റെ ദൈവമേ, എന്റെ ദൈവമേ, നീ എന്നെ കൈവിട്ടതു എന്തു എന്നു അര്ത്ഥമുള്ള എലോഹീ, എലോഹീ ലമ്മാ ശബ്ബക്താനീ എന്നു അത്യുച്ചത്തില് നിലവിളിച്ചു.

33. And when the sixth hour was come, darkness arose over all the earth, until the ninth hour.

34. അരികെ നിന്നവരില് ചിലര് കേട്ടിട്ടുഅവന് ഏലീയാവെ വിളിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
സങ്കീർത്തനങ്ങൾ 22:1

34. And at the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying: Eloi, Eloi, lama sabaththani,(lamaasbathani)(asabthani) which is if it be interpreted: my God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?

35. ഒരുത്തന് ഔടി ഒരു സ്പോങ്ങില് പുളിച്ചവീഞ്ഞു നിറെച്ചു ഒരു ഔടക്കോലിന്മേലാക്കിനില്പിന് ; ഏലീയാവു അവനെ ഇറക്കുവാന് വരുമോ എന്നു നമുക്കു കാണാം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു അവന്നു കുടിപ്പാന് കൊടുത്തു.

35. And some of them that stood by when they heard that said: behold he calleth for Helias.

36. യേശു ഉറക്കെ നിലവിളിച്ചു പ്രാണനെ വിട്ടു.
സങ്കീർത്തനങ്ങൾ 69:21

36. And one ran, and filled a sponge full of vinegar, and put(stick) it on a reed, and gave it him to drink, saying: let him alone, let us see whether Helias will come and take him down.

37. ഉടനെ മന്ദിരത്തിലെ തിരശ്ശീല മേല്തൊട്ടു അടിയോളവും രണ്ടായി ചീന്തിപ്പോയി.

37. But Jesus cried with a loud voice, and gave up the ghost.

38. അവന്നു എതിരെ നിന്നിരുന്ന ശതാധിപന് അവന് ഇങ്ങനെ പ്രാണനെ വിട്ടതു കണ്ടിട്ടുമനുഷ്യന് ദൈവപുത്രന് ആയിരുന്നു സത്യം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

38. And the veil of the temple did rent in two parts,(pieces) from the top to the bottom.

39. സ്ത്രീകളും ദൂരത്തുനിന്നു നോക്കിക്കൊണ്ടിരുന്നു; അവരില് മഗ്ദലക്കാരത്തി മറിയയും ചെറിയ യാക്കോബിന്റെയും യോസെയുടെയും അമ്മ മറിയയും ചെറിയ യാക്കോബിന്റെയും യോസെയുടെയും അമ്മ മറിയയും ശലോമയും ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു.

39. And when the undercaptain(centurion) which stood before him saw that he so cried and gave up the ghost, and he said: truly this man was the son of God.

40. അവന് ഗലീലയില് ഇരിക്കുമ്പോള് അവര് അവനെ അനുഗമിച്ചും ശുശ്രൂഷിച്ചും പോന്നു; അവനോടുകൂടെ യെരൂശലേമിലേക്കു വന്ന മറ്റു സ്ത്രീകളും ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു.

40. There were also women a good way off beholding him: among whom was Mary Magdalen, and Mary the mother of James the little and of Joses, and Mary Salome:

41. വൈകുന്നേരമായപ്പോള് ശബ്ബത്തിന്റെ തലനാളായ ഒരുക്കനാള് ആകകൊണ്ടു ശ്രേഷ്ഠമന്ത്രിയും ദൈവരാജ്യത്തെ കാത്തിരുന്നവനുമായ അരിമത്ഥ്യയിലെ യോസേഫ് വന്നു ധൈര്യത്തോടെ പീലാത്തൊസിന്റെ അടുക്കല് ചെന്നു യേശുവിന്റെ ശരീരം ചോദിച്ചു.

41. which also when he was in Galilee, followed him and ministered unto him, and many other women which came up with him to Hierusalem.

42. അവന് മരിച്ചുകഴിഞ്ഞുവോ എന്നു പീലാത്തൊസ് ആശ്ചര്യപ്പെട്ടു ശതാധിപനെ വിളിച്ചുഅവന് മരിച്ചിട്ടു ഒട്ടുനേരമായോ എന്നു ശതാധിപനോടു വസ്തുത ചോദിച്ചറിഞ്ഞിട്ടു ഉടല് യോസേഫിന്നു നല്കി.

42. And now when night was come (because it was the even(day of preparing) that goeth before the Sabbath)

43. അവന് ഒരു ശീല വാങ്ങി അവനെ ഇറക്കി ശീലയില് ചുറ്റിപ്പൊതിഞ്ഞു, പാറയില് വെട്ടീട്ടുള്ള കല്ലറയില് വെച്ചു, കല്ലറവാതില്ക്കല് ഒരു കല്ലു ഉരുട്ടിവെച്ചു;

43. Joseph of Arimathia a noble senator(councillor) (which also looked for the kingdom of God) came; And went in boldly unto Pilate, and begged the body of Jesu.

44. അവനെ വെച്ച ഇടം മഗ്ദലക്കാരത്തി മറിയയും യോസെയുടെ അമ്മ മറിയയും നോക്കിക്കണ്ടു.

44. (And) Pilate marveled that he was already dead, and called unto him the under captain,(centurion) and asked of him, whether he had been any while dead.
