1. ആ കാലത്തു ഹെരോദാരാജാവു സഭയില് ചിലരെ പീഡിപ്പിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു കൈ നീട്ടി.

1. And about that time, Herod the king put forth his hands, to do evil to certain of those of the assembly,

2. യോഹന്നാന്റെ സഹോദരനായ യാക്കോബിനെ അവന് വാള്കൊണ്ടു കൊന്നു.

2. and he killed James, the brother of John, with the sword,

3. അതു യെഹൂദന്മാര്ക്കും പ്രസാദമായി എന്നു കണ്ടു അവന് പത്രൊസിനെയും പിടിച്ചു. അപ്പോള് പുളിപ്പില്ലാത്ത അപ്പത്തിന്റെ പെരുനാള് ആയിരുന്നു.

3. and having seen that it is pleasing to the Jews, he added to lay hold of Peter also -- and they were the days of the unleavened food --

4. അവനെ പിടിച്ചശേഷം പെസഹ കഴിഞ്ഞിട്ടു ജനത്തിന്റെ മുമ്പില് നിറുത്തുവാന് ഭാവിച്ചു തടവിലാക്കി അവനെ കാപ്പാന് നന്നാലു ചേവകര് ഉള്ള നാലു കൂട്ടത്തിന്നു ഏല്പിച്ചു.

4. whom also having seized, he did put in prison, having delivered [him] to four quaternions of soldiers to guard him, intending after the passover to bring him forth to the people.

5. ഇങ്ങനെ പത്രൊസിനെ തടവില് സൂക്ഷിച്ചുവരുമ്പോള് സഭ ശ്രദ്ധയോടെ അവന്നുവേണ്ടി ദൈവത്തോടു പ്രാര്ത്ഥന കഴിച്ചുപോന്നു.

5. Peter, therefore, indeed, was kept in the prison, and fervent prayer was being made by the assembly unto God for him,

6. ഹെരോദാവു അവനെ ജനത്തിന്റെ മുമ്പില് നിറുത്തുവാന് ഭാവിച്ചതിന്റെ തലെരാത്രിയില് പത്രൊസ് രണ്ടു ചങ്ങലയാല് ബന്ധിക്കപ്പെട്ടവനായി രണ്ടു പടയാളികളുടെ നടുവില് ഉറങ്ങുകയായിരുന്നു; വാതിലിന്റെ മുമ്പില് കാവല്ക്കാര് കാരാഗൃഹം കാത്തുകൊണ്ടിരുന്നു.

6. and when Herod was about to bring him forth, the same night was Peter sleeping between two soldiers, having been bound with two chains, guards also before the door were keeping the prison,

7. പെട്ടെന്നു കര്ത്താവിന്റെ ദൂതന് അവിടെ പ്രത്യക്ഷനായി, അറയില് ഒരു വെളിച്ചം പ്രകാശിച്ചു. അവന് പത്രൊസിനെ വിലാപ്പുറത്തു തട്ടിവേഗം എഴുന്നേല്ക്ക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു അവനെ ഉണര്ത്തി; ഉടനെ അവന്റെ ചങ്ങല കൈമേല് നിന്നു വീണു പോയി.

7. and lo, a messenger of the Lord stood by, and a light shone in the buildings, and having smitten Peter on the side, he raised him up, saying, 'Rise in haste,' and his chains fell from off [his] hands.

8. ദൂതന് അവനോടുഅര കെട്ടി ചെരിപ്പു ഇട്ടു മുറുക്കുക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അവന് അങ്ങനെ ചെയ്തു; നിന്റെ വസ്ത്രം പുതെച്ചു എന്റെ പിന്നാലെ വരിക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

8. The messenger also said to him, 'Gird thyself, and bind on thy sandals;' and he did so; and he saith to him, 'Put thy garment round and be following me;'

9. അവന് പിന്നാലെ ചെന്നു, ദൂതന് മുഖാന്തരം സംഭവിച്ചതു വാസ്തവം എന്നു അറിയാതെ താന് ഒരു ദര്ശനം കാണുന്നു എന്നു നിരൂപിച്ചു.

9. and having gone forth, he was following him, and he knew not that it is true that which is done through the messenger, and was thinking he saw a vision,

10. അവര് ഒന്നാം കാവലും രണ്ടാമത്തേതും കടന്നു പട്ടണത്തില് ചെല്ലുന്ന ഇരിമ്പു വാതില്ക്കല് എത്തി. അതു അവര്ക്കും സ്വതവെ തുറന്നു; അവര് പുറത്തിറങ്ങി ഒരു തെരുവു കടന്നു, ഉടനെ ദൂതന് അവനെ വിട്ടുപോയി.

10. and having passed through a first ward, and a second, they came unto the iron gate that is leading to the city, which of its own accord did open to them, and having gone forth, they went on through one street, and immediately the messenger departed from him.

11. പത്രൊസിന്നു സുബോധം വന്നിട്ടു കര്ത്താവു തന്റെ ദൂതനെ അയച്ചു ഹെരോദാവിന്റെ കയ്യില്നിന്നും യെഹൂദജനത്തിന്റെ സകല പ്രതീക്ഷിയില്നിന്നും എന്നെ വിടുവിച്ചു എന്നു ഞാന് ഇപ്പോള് വാസ്തവമായി അറിയുന്നു എന്നു അവന് പറഞ്ഞു.

11. And Peter having come to himself, said, 'Now I have known of a truth that the Lord did sent forth His messenger, and did deliver me out of the hand of Herod, and all the expectation of the people of the Jews;'

12. ഇങ്ങനെ ഗ്രഹിച്ച ശേഷം അവന് മര്ക്കൊസ് എന്നു മറുപേരുള്ള യോഹന്നാന്റെ അമ്മ മറിയയുടെ വീട്ടില് ചെന്നു. അവിടെ അനേകര് ഒരുമിച്ചു കൂടി പ്രാര്ത്ഥിച്ചുകെണ്ടിരുന്നു.

12. also, having considered, he came unto the house of Mary, the mother of John, who is surnamed Mark, where there were many thronged together and praying.

13. അവന് പടിപ്പുരവാതില്ക്കല് മുട്ടിയാറെ രോദാ എന്നൊരു ബാല്യക്കാരത്തി വിളികേള്പ്പാന് അടുത്തുവന്നു.

13. And Peter having knocked at the door of the porch, there came a damsel to hearken, by name Rhoda,

14. പത്രൊസിന്റെ ശബ്ദം തിരിച്ചറിഞ്ഞു, സന്തോഷത്താല് പടിവാതില് തുറക്കാതെ അകത്തേക്കു ഔടി, പത്രൊസ് പടിപ്പുരെക്കല് നിലക്കുന്നുഎന്നു അറിയിച്ചു.

14. and having known the voice of Peter, from the joy she did not open the porch, but having run in, told of the standing of Peter before the porch,

15. അവര് അവളോടുനിനക്കു ഭ്രാന്തുണ്ടു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു; അവളോഅല്ല, ഉള്ളതു തന്നേ എന്നു ഉറപ്പിച്ചുപറയുമ്പോള് അവന്റെ ദൂതന് ആകുന്നു എന്നു അവര് പറഞ്ഞു.

15. and they said unto her, 'Thou art mad;' and she was confidently affirming [it] to be so, and they said, 'It is his messenger;'

16. പത്രൊസ് മുട്ടിക്കൊണ്ടിരുന്നു; അവര് തുറന്നപ്പോള് അവനെ കണ്ടു വിസ്മയിച്ചു.

16. and Peter was continuing knocking, and having opened, they saw him, and were astonished,

17. അവര് മിണ്ടാതിരിപ്പാന് അവന് ആംഗ്യം കാട്ടി, കര്ത്താവു തന്നെ തടവില്നിന്നു പുറപ്പെടുവിച്ച വിവരം പറഞ്ഞു കേള്പ്പിച്ചു; ഇതു യാക്കോബിനോടും ശേഷം സഹോദരന്മാരോടും അറിയിപ്പിന് എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു; പിന്നെ അവന് പുറപ്പെട്ടു വേറൊരു സ്ഥലത്തേക്കു പോയി.

17. and having beckoned to them with the hand to be silent, he declared to them how the Lord brought him out of the prison, and he said, 'Declare to James and to the brethren these things;' and having gone forth, he went on to another place.

18. നേരം വെളുത്തപ്പോള് പത്രൊസ് എവിടെ പോയി എന്നു പടയാളികള്ക്കു അല്പമല്ലാത്ത പരിഭ്രമം ഉണ്ടായി

18. And day having come, there was not a little stir among the soldiers what then was become of Peter,

19. ഹെരോദാവു അവനെ അന്വേഷിച്ചിട്ടു കാണായ്കയാല് കാവല്ക്കാരെ വിസ്തരിച്ചു അവരെ കൊല്ലുവാന് കല്പിച്ചു; പിന്നെ അവന് യെഹൂദ്യ വിട്ടു കൈസര്യയിലേക്കു പോയി അവിടെ പാര്ത്തു.

19. and Herod having sought for him, and not having found, having examined the guards, did command [them] to be led away to punishment, and having gone down from Judea to Caesarea, he was abiding [there].

20. അവന് സോര്യരുടെയും സിദോന്യരുടെയും നേരെ ക്രുദ്ധിച്ചിരിക്കുമ്പോള് രാജാവിന്റെ ദേശത്തുനിന്നു തങ്ങളുടെ ദേശത്തിന്നു ആഹാരം കിട്ടിവരികയാല് അവര് ഏകമനസ്സോടെ അവന്റെ അടുക്കല് ചെന്നു, രാജാവിന്റെ പള്ളിയറക്കാരനായ ബ്ളസ്തൊസിനെ വശത്താക്കി സന്ധിക്കായി അപേക്ഷിച്ചു.

20. And Herod was highly displeased with the Tyrians and Sidonians, and with one accord they came unto him, and having made a friend of Blastus, who [is] over the bed-chambers of the king, they were asking peace, because of their country being nourished from the king's;

21. നിശ്ചയിച്ച ദിവസത്തില് ഹെരോദാവു രാജവസ്ത്രം ധരിച്ചു ഭദ്രാസനത്തില് ഇരുന്നു അവരോടു പ്രസംഗം കഴിച്ചു.

21. and on a set day, Herod having arrayed himself in kingly apparel, and having sat down upon the tribunal, was making an oration unto them,

22. ഇതു മനുഷ്യന്റെ ശബ്ദമല്ല ഒരു ദേവന്റെ ശബ്ദം അത്രേ എന്നു ജനം ആര്ത്തു.
യേഹേസ്കേൽ 28:2

22. and the populace were shouting, 'The voice of a god, and not of a man;'

23. അവന് ദൈവത്തിന്നു മഹത്വം കൊടുക്കായ്കയാല് കര്ത്താവിന്റെ ദൂതന് ഉടനെ അവനെ അടിച്ചു, അവന് കൃമിക്കു ഇരയായി പ്രാണനെ വിട്ടു.

23. and presently there smote him a messenger of the Lord, because he did not give the glory to God, and having been eaten of worms, he expired.

24. എന്നാല് ദൈവ വചനം മേലക്കുമേല് പരന്നുകൊണ്ടിരുന്നു.

24. And the word of God did grow and did multiply,

25. ബര്ന്നാബാസും ശൌലും ശുശ്രൂഷ നിവര്ത്തിച്ച ശേഷം മര്ക്കൊസ് എന്നു മറു പേരുള്ള യോഹന്നാനെയും കൂട്ടിക്കൊണ്ടു യെരൂശലേം വിട്ടു മടങ്ങിപ്പോന്നു.

25. and Barnabas and Saul did turn back out of Jerusalem, having fulfilled the ministration, having taken also with [them] John, who was surnamed Mark.
