1. എന്നാല് അനന്യാസ് എന്നു പേരുള്ള ഒരു പുരുഷന് തന്റെ ഭാര്യയായ സഫീരയോടു കൂടെ ഒരു നിലം വിറ്റു.

1. BUT A certain man named Ananias with his wife Sapphira sold a piece of property,

2. ഭാര്യയുടെ അറിവോടെ വിലയില് കുറെ എടുത്തുവെച്ചു ഒരംശം കൊണ്ടുവന്നു അപ്പൊസ്തലന്മാരുടെ കാല്കല് വെച്ചു.

2. And with his wife's knowledge and connivance he kept back and wrongfully appropriated some of the proceeds, bringing only a part and putting it at the feet of the apostles.

3. അപ്പോള് പത്രൊസ്അനന്യാസേ, പരിശുദ്ധാത്മാവിനോടു വ്യാജം കാണിപ്പാനും നിലത്തിന്റെ വിലയില് കുറെ എടുത്തുവെപ്പാനും സാത്താന് നിന്റെ ഹൃദയം കൈവശമാക്കിയതു എന്തു?

3. But Peter said, Ananias, why has Satan filled your heart that you should lie to and attempt to deceive the Holy Spirit, and should [in violation of your promise] withdraw secretly and appropriate to your own use part of the price from the sale of the land?

4. അതു വിലക്കും മുമ്പെ നിന്റേതായിരുന്നില്ലെയോ? വിറ്റശേഷവും നിന്റെ കൈവശം അല്ലാഞ്ഞുവോ? ഈ കാര്യത്തിനു നീ മനസ്സുവെച്ചതു എന്തു? മനുഷ്യരോടല്ല ദൈവത്തോടത്രേ നീ വ്യാജം കാണിച്ചതു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

4. As long as it remained unsold, was it not still your own? And [even] after it was sold, was not [the money] at your disposal and under your control? Why then, is it that you have proposed and purposed in your heart to do this thing? [How could you have the heart to do such a deed?] You have not [simply] lied to men [playing false and showing yourself utterly deceitful] but to God.

5. ഈ വാക്കു കേട്ടിട്ടു അനന്യാസ് വീണു പ്രാണനെ വിട്ടു; ഇതു കേട്ടവര്ക്കും എല്ലാവര്ക്കും മഹാഭയം ഉണ്ടായി.

5. Upon hearing these words, Ananias fell down and died. And great dread and terror took possession of all who heard of it.

6. ബാല്യക്കാര് എഴുന്നേറ്റു അവനെ ശീലപൊതിഞ്ഞു പുറത്തു കൊണ്ടുപോയി കുഴിച്ചിട്ടു.

6. And the young men arose and wrapped up [the body] and carried it out and buried it.

7. ഏകദേശം മൂന്നു മണിനേരം കഴിഞ്ഞപ്പോള് അവന്റെ ഭാര്യ ഈ സംഭവിച്ചതു ഒന്നും അറിയാതെ അകത്തുവന്നു.

7. Now after an interval of about three hours his wife came in, not having learned of what had happened.

8. പത്രൊസ് അവളോടുഇത്രെക്കോ നിങ്ങള് നിലം വിറ്റതു? പറക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു; അതേ, ഇത്രെക്കു തന്നെ എന്നു അവള് പറഞ്ഞു.

8. And Peter said to her, Tell me, did you sell the land for so much? Yes, she said, for so much.

9. പത്രൊസ് അവളോടുകര്ത്താവിന്റെ ആത്മാവിനെ പരീക്ഷിപ്പാന് നിങ്ങള് തമ്മില് ഒത്തതു എന്തു? ഇതാ, നിന്റെ ഭര്ത്താവിനെ കുഴിച്ചിട്ടവരുടെ കാല് വാതില്ക്കല് ഉണ്ടു; അവര് നിന്നെയും പുറത്തു കൊണ്ടുപോകും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

9. Then Peter said to her, How could you two have agreed and conspired together to try to deceive the Spirit of the Lord? Listen! The feet of those who have buried your husband are at the door, and they will carry you out [also].

10. ഉടനെ അവള് അവന്റെ കാല്ക്കല് വീണു പ്രാണനെ വിട്ടു; ബാല്യക്കാര് അകത്തു വന്നു അവള് മരിച്ചു എന്നു കണ്ടു പുറത്തു കൊണ്ടുപോയി ഭര്ത്താവിന്റെ അരികെ കുഴിച്ചിട്ടു.

10. And instantly she fell down at his feet and died; and the young men entering found her dead, and they carried her out and buried her beside her husband.

11. സര്വസഭെക്കും ഇതു കേട്ടവര്ക്കും എല്ലാവര്ക്കും മഹാഭയം ഉണ്ടായി.

11. And the whole church and all others who heard of these things were appalled [great awe and strange terror and dread seized them].

12. അപ്പൊസ്തലന്മാരുടെ കയ്യാല് ജനത്തിന്റെ ഇടയില് പല അടയാളങ്ങളും അത്ഭുതങ്ങളും നടന്നു; അവര് എല്ലാവരും ഏകമനസ്സോടെ ശലോമോന്റെ മണ്ഡപത്തില് കൂടിവരിക പതിവായിരുന്നു.

12. Now by the hands of the apostles (special messengers) numerous and startling signs and wonders were being performed among the people. And by common consent they all met together [at the temple] in the covered porch (walk) called Solomon's.

13. മറ്റുള്ളവരില് ആരും അവരോടു ചേരുവാന് തുനിഞ്ഞില്ല; ജനമോ അവരെ പുകഴ്ത്തിപ്പോന്നു.

13. And none of those who were not of their number dared to join and associate with them, but the people held them in high regard and praised and made much of them.

14. മേലക്കുമേല് അനവധി പുരുഷന്മാരും സ്ത്രീകളും കര്ത്താവില് വിശ്വസിച്ചു ചേര്ന്നുവന്നു.

14. More and more there were being added to the Lord those who believed [those who acknowledged Jesus as their Savior and devoted themselves to Him joined and gathered with them], crowds both of men and of women,

15. രോഗികളെ പുറത്തുകൊണ്ടുവന്നു, പത്രൊസ് കടന്നുപോകുമ്പോള് അവന്റെ നിഴല് എങ്കിലും അവരില് വല്ലവരുടെയുംമേല് വീഴേണ്ടതിന്നു വീഥികളില് വിരിപ്പിന്മേലും കിടക്കമേലും കിടത്തും.

15. So that they [even] kept carrying out the sick into the streets and placing them on couches and sleeping pads, [in the hope] that as Peter passed by, at least his shadow might fall on some of them.

16. അതുകൂടാതെ യെരൂശലേമിന്നു ചുറ്റുമുള്ള പട്ടണങ്ങളില്നിന്നു പുരുഷാരം വന്നുകൂടി രോഗികളെയും അശുദ്ധാത്മാക്കള് ബാധിച്ചവരെയും കൊണ്ടുവരികയും അവര് എല്ലാവരും സൌഖ്യം പ്രാപിക്കയും ചെയ്യും.

16. And the people gathered also from the towns and hamlets around Jerusalem, bringing the sick and those troubled with foul spirits, and they were all cured.

17. പിന്നെ മഹാപുരോഹിതനും സദൂക്യരുടെ മതക്കാരായ അവന്റെ പക്ഷക്കാരൊക്കെയും

17. But the high priest rose up and all who were his supporters, that is, the party of the Sadducees, and being filled with jealousy and indignation and rage,

18. അസൂയ നിറഞ്ഞു എഴുന്നേറ്റു അപ്പൊസ്തലന്മാരെ പിടിച്ചു പൊതു തടവില് ആക്കി.

18. They seized and arrested the apostles (special messengers) and put them in the public jail.

19. രാത്രിയിലോ കര്ത്താവിന്റെ ദൂതന് കാരാഗൃഹവാതില് തുറന്നു അവരെ പുറത്തു കൊണ്ടു വന്നു

19. But during the night an angel of the Lord opened the prison doors and, leading them out, said,

20. നിങ്ങള് ദൈവാലയത്തില് ചെന്നു ഈ ജീവന്റെ വചനം എല്ലാം ജനത്തോടു പ്രസ്താവിപ്പിന് എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

20. Go, take your stand in the temple courts and declare to the people the whole doctrine concerning this Life (the eternal life which Christ revealed).

21. അവര് കേട്ടു പുലര്ച്ചെക്കു ദൈവാലയത്തില് ചെന്നു ഉപദേശിച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരുന്നു; മഹാപുരോഹിതനും കൂടെയുള്ളവരും വന്നു ന്യായാധിപസംഘത്തെയും യിസ്രയേല്മക്കളുടെ മൂപ്പ്ന്മാരെയും എല്ലാം വിളിച്ചുകൂട്ടി, അവരെ കൊണ്ടുവരുവാന് തടവിലേക്കു ആളയച്ചു.

21. And when they heard this, they accordingly went into the temple about daybreak and began to teach. Now the high priest and his supporters who were with him arrived and called together the council (Sanhedrin), even all the senate of the sons of Israel, and they sent to the prison to have [the apostles] brought.

22. ചേവകര് ചെന്നപ്പോള് അവരെ കാരാഗൃഹത്തില് കാണാതെ മടങ്ങിവന്നുകാരാഗൃഹം നല്ല സൂക്ഷമത്തോടെ പൂട്ടിയിരിക്കുന്നതും കാവല്ക്കാര് വാതില്ക്കല് നിലക്കുന്നതും ഞങ്ങള് കണ്ടു;

22. But when the attendants arrived there, they failed to find them in the jail; so they came back and reported,

23. തുറന്നപ്പോഴോ അകത്തു ആരെയും കണ്ടില്ല എന്നു അറിയിച്ചു.

23. We found the prison quite safely locked up and the guards were on duty outside the doors, but when we opened [it], we found no one on the inside.

24. ഈ വാക്കു കേട്ടിട്ടു ദൈവാലയത്തിലെ പടനായകനും മഹാപുരോഹിതന്മാരും ഇതു എന്തായിത്തീരും എന്നു അവരെക്കുറിച്ചു ചഞ്ചലിച്ചു.

24. Now when the military leader of the temple area and the chief priests heard these facts, they were much perplexed and thoroughly at a loss about them, wondering into what this might grow.

25. അപ്പോള് ഒരുത്തന് വന്നുനിങ്ങള് തടവില് ആക്കിയ പുരുഷന്മാര് ദൈവാലയത്തില് നിന്നുകൊണ്ടു ജനത്തെ ഉപദേശിക്കുന്നു എന്നു ബോധിപ്പിച്ചു.

25. But some man came and reported to them, saying, Listen! The men whom you put in jail are standing [right here] in the temple and teaching the people!

26. പടനായകന് ചേവകരുമായി ചെന്നു, ജനം കല്ലെറിയും എന്നു ഭയപ്പെടുകയാല് ബലാല്ക്കാരം ചെയ്യാതെ അവരെ കൂട്ടിക്കൊണ്ടുവന്നു.

26. Then the military leader went with the attendants and brought [the prisoners], but without violence, for they dreaded the people lest they be stoned by them.

27. അങ്ങനെ അവരെ കൊണ്ടുവന്നു ന്യായാധിപസംഘത്തിന്മുമ്പാകെ നിറുത്തി; മഹാപുരോഹിതന് അവരോടു

27. So they brought them and set them before the council (Sanhedrin). And the high priest examined them by questioning,

28. ഈ നാമത്തില് ഉപദേശിക്കരുതു എന്നു ഞങ്ങള് നിങ്ങളോടു അമര്ച്ചയായി കല്പിച്ചുവല്ലോ; നിങ്ങളോ യെരൂശലേമിനെ നിങ്ങളുടെ ഉപദേശംകൊണ്ടു നിറെച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു; ആ മനുഷ്യന്റെ രക്തം ഞങ്ങളുടെ മേല് വരുത്തുവാന് ഇച്ഛിക്കുന്നു. എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

28. Saying, We definitely commanded and strictly charged you not to teach in or about this Name; yet here you have flooded Jerusalem with your doctrine and you intend to bring this Man's blood upon us.

29. അതിന്നു പത്രൊസും ശേഷം അപ്പൊസ്തലന്മാരുംമനുഷ്യരെക്കാള് ദൈവത്തെ അനുസരിക്കേണ്ടതാകുന്നു.

29. Then Peter and the apostles replied, We must obey God rather than men.

30. നിങ്ങള് മരത്തില് തൂക്കിക്കൊന്ന യേശുവിനെ നമ്മുടെ പിതാക്കന്മാരുടെ ദൈവം ഉയിര്പ്പിച്ചു;
ആവർത്തനം 21:22-23

30. The God of our forefathers raised up Jesus, Whom you killed by hanging Him on a tree (cross). [Deut. 21:22, 23.]

31. യിസ്രായേലിന്നു മാനസാന്തരവും പാപമോചനവും നലകുവാന് ദൈവം അവനെ പ്രഭുവായും രക്ഷിതാവായും തന്റെ വലങ്കയ്യാല് ഉയര്ത്തിയിരിക്കുന്നു.

31. God exalted Him to His right hand to be Prince and Leader and Savior and Deliverer and Preserver, in order to grant repentance to Israel and to bestow forgiveness and release from sins.

32. ഈ വസ്തുതെക്കു ഞങ്ങളും ദൈവം തന്നെ അനുസരിക്കുന്നവര്ക്കും നല്കിയ പരിശുദ്ധാത്മാവും സാക്ഷികള് ആകുന്നു എന്നു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.

32. And we are witnesses of these things, and the Holy Spirit is also, Whom God has bestowed on those who obey Him.

33. ഇതു കേട്ടപ്പോള് അവര് കോപപരവശരായി അവരെ ഒടുക്കിക്കളവാന് ഭാവിച്ചു.

33. Now when they heard this, they were cut to the heart and infuriated and wanted to kill the disciples.

34. അപ്പോള് സര്വ്വ ജനത്തിനും ബഹുമാനമുള്ള ധര്മ്മോപദേഷ്ടാവായ ഗമാലീയേല് എന്നൊരു പരീശന് ന്യായധിപസംഘത്തില് എഴുന്നേറ്റു, അവരെ കുറെ നേരം പുറത്താക്കുവാന് കല്പിച്ചു.

34. But a certain Pharisee in the council (Sanhedrin) named Gamaliel, a teacher of the Law, highly esteemed by all the people, standing up, ordered that the apostles be taken outside for a little while.

35. പിന്നെ അവന് അവരോടുയിസ്രായേല് പുരുഷന്മാരെ, ഈ മനുഷ്യരുടെ കാര്യത്തില് നിങ്ങള് എന്തു ചെയ്യാന് പോകുന്നു എന്നു സൂക്ഷിച്ചുകൊള്വിന് .

35. Then he addressed them [the council, saying]: Men of Israel, take care in regard to what you propose to do concerning these men.

36. ഈ നാളുകള്ക്കു മുമ്പെ തദാസ് എന്നവന് എഴുന്നേറ്റു താന് മഹാന് എന്നു നടിച്ചു; ഏകദേശം നാനൂറു പുരുഷന്മാര് അവനോടു ചേന്നുകൂടി; എങ്കിലും അവന് നശിക്കയും അവനെ അനുസരിച്ചവര് എല്ലാവരും ചിന്നി ഒന്നുമില്ലാതാകയും ചെയ്തു.

36. For before our time there arose Theudas, asserting himself to be a person of importance, with whom a number of men allied themselves, about 400; but he was killed and all who had listened to and adhered to him were scattered and brought to nothing.

37. അവന്റെ ശേഷം ഗലീലക്കാരനായ യൂദാ ചാര്ത്തലിന്റെ കാലത്തു എഴുന്നേറ്റു ജനത്തേ തന്റെ പക്ഷം ചേരുവാന് വശീകരിച്ചു; അവനും നശിച്ചു, അവനെ അനുസരിച്ചവര് ഒക്കെയും ചിതറിപ്പോയി.

37. And after this one rose up Judas the Galilean, [who led an uprising] during the time of the census, and drew away a popular following after him; he also perished and all his adherents were scattered.

38. ആകയാല് ഈ മനുഷ്യരെ വിട്ടു ഒഴിഞ്ഞുകൊള്വിന് എന്നു ഞാന് നിങ്ങളോടു പറയുന്നു; ഈ ആലോചനയോ പ്രവൃത്തിയോ മാനുഷം എന്നു വരികില് അതു നശിച്ചുപോകും;

38. Now in the present case let me say to you, stand off (withdraw) from these men and let them alone. For if this doctrine or purpose or undertaking or movement is of human origin, it will fail (be overthrown and come to nothing);

39. ദൈവികം എങ്കിലോ നിങ്ങള്ക്കു അതു നശിപ്പിപ്പാന് കഴികയില്ല; നിങ്ങള് ദൈവത്തോടു പോരാടുന്നു എന്നു വരരുതല്ലോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

39. But if it is of God, you will not be able to stop or overthrow or destroy them; you might even be found fighting against God!

40. അവര് അവനെ അനുസരിച്ചുഅപ്പൊസ്തലന്മാരെ വരുത്തി അടിപ്പിച്ചു, ഇനി യേശുവിന്റെ നാമത്തില് സംസാരിക്കരുതു എന്നു കല്പിച്ചു അവരെ വിട്ടയച്ചു.

40. So, convinced by him, they took his advice; and summoning the apostles, they flogged them and sternly forbade them to speak in or about the name of Jesus, and allowed them to go.

41. തിരുനാമത്തിന്നു വേണ്ടി അപമാനം സഹിപ്പാന് യോഗ്യരായി എണ്ണപ്പെടുകയാല് അവര് സന്തോഷിച്ചുകൊണ്ടു ന്യായാധിപസംഘത്തിന്റെ മുമ്പില് നിന്നു പുറപ്പെട്ടുപോയി.

41. So they went out from the presence of the council (Sanhedrin), rejoicing that they were being counted worthy [dignified by the indignity] to suffer shame and be exposed to disgrace for [the sake of] His name.

42. പിന്നെ അവര് ദിനംപ്രതി ദൈവാലയത്തിലും വീടുതോറും വിടാതെ ഉപദേശിക്കയും യേശുവിനെ ക്രിസ്തു എന്നു സുവിശേഷിക്കയും ചെയ്തുകൊണ്ടിരുന്നു.

42. Yet [in spite of the threats] they never ceased for a single day, both in the temple area and at home, to teach and to proclaim the good news (Gospel) of Jesus [as] the Christ (the Messiah).
