1. അവനെ കുലചെയ്തതു ശൌലിന്നു സമ്മതമായിരുന്നു. അന്നു യെരൂശലേമിലെ സഭെക്കു ഒരു വലിയ ഉപദ്രവം നേരിട്ടു; അപ്പൊസ്തലന്മാര് ഒഴികെ എല്ലാവരും യെഹുദ്യ ശമര്യ ദേശങ്ങളില് ചിതറിപ്പോയി.

1. And Saul was assenting to his death, and there came in that day a great persecution upon the assembly in Jerusalem, all also were scattered abroad in the regions of Judea and Samaria, except the apostles;

2. ഭക്തിയുള്ള പുരുഷന്മാര് സ്തെഫാനൊസിനെ അടക്കം ചെയ്തു. അവനെക്കുറിച്ചു വലിയൊരു പ്രലാപം കഴിച്ചു.

2. and devout men carried away Stephen, and made great lamentation over him;

3. എന്നാല് ശൌല് വീടുതോറും ചെന്നു പുരുഷന്മാരെയും സ്ത്രീകളെയും പിടിച്ചിഴച്ചു തടവില് ഏല്പിച്ചുകൊണ്ടു സഭയെ മുടിച്ചു പോന്നു.

3. and Saul was making havoc of the assembly, into every house entering, and haling men and women, was giving them up to prison;

4. ചിതറിപ്പോയവര് വചനം സുവിശേഷിച്ചുംകൊണ്ടു അവിടവിടെ സഞ്ചരിച്ചു.

4. they then indeed, having been scattered, went abroad proclaiming good news -- the word.

5. ഫിലിപ്പൊസ് ശമര്യപട്ടണത്തില് ചെന്നു അവരോടു ക്രിസ്തുവിനെ പ്രസംഗിച്ചു.

5. And Philip having gone down to a city of Samaria, was preaching to them the Christ,

6. ഫിലിപ്പൊസ് ചെയ്ത അടയാളങ്ങളെ പുരുഷാരങ്ങള് കേള്ക്കയും കാണ്കയും ചെയ്കയാല് അവന് പറയുന്നതു ഏകമനസ്സോടെ ശ്രദ്ധിച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരുന്നു.

6. the multitudes also were giving heed to the things spoken by Philip, with one accord, in their hearing and seeing the signs that he was doing,

7. അശുദ്ധാത്മാക്കള് ബാധിച്ച പലരില്നിന്നും അവ ഉറക്കെ നിലവിളിച്ചുകൊണ്ടു പുറപ്പെട്ടു; അനേകം പക്ഷവാത ക്കാരും മുടന്തരും സൌഖ്യം പ്രാപിച്ചു.

7. for unclean spirits came forth from many who were possessed, crying with a loud voice, and many who have been paralytic and lame were healed,

8. അങ്ങനെ ആ പട്ടണത്തില് വളരെ സന്തോഷം ഉണ്ടായി.

8. and there was great joy in that city.

9. എന്നാല് ശിമോന് എന്നു പേരുള്ളോരു പുരുഷന് ആ പട്ടണത്തില് ആഭിചാരം ചെയ്തു, താന് മഹാന് എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു ശമര്യ ജാതിയെ ഭ്രമിപ്പിച്ചുപോന്നു.

9. And a certain man, by name Simon, was before in the city using magic, and amazing the nation of Samaria, saying himself to be a certain great one,

10. ഇവന് മഹതി എന്ന ദൈവശക്തി ആകുന്നു എന്നും പറഞ്ഞു ആബാലവൃദ്ധം എല്ലാവരും അവനെ ശ്രദ്ധിച്ചുവന്നു.

10. to whom they were all giving heed, from small unto great, saying, 'This one is the great power of God;'

11. ഇവന് ആഭിചാരംകൊണ്ടു ഏറിയ കാലം അവരെ ഭ്രമിപ്പിക്കയാല് അത്രേ അവര് അവനെ ശ്രദ്ധിച്ചതു.

11. and they were giving heed to him, because of his having for a long time amazed them with deeds of magic.

12. എന്നാല് ദൈവരാജ്യത്തെയും യേശുക്രിസ്തുവിന്റെ നാമത്തെയും കുറിച്ചുള്ള സുവിശേഷം അറിയിക്കുന്ന ഫിലിപ്പൊസിനെ അവര് വിശ്വസിച്ചപ്പോള് പുരുഷന്മാരും സ്ത്രീകളും സ്നാനം ഏറ്റു.

12. And when they believed Philip, proclaiming good news, the things concerning the reign of God and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized both men and women;

13. ശിമോന് താനും വിശ്വസിച്ചു സ്നാനം ഏറ്റു ഫിലിപ്പൊസിനോടു ചേര്ന്നു നിന്നു, വലിയ വീര്യപ്രവൃത്തികളും അടയാളങ്ങളും നടക്കുന്നതു കണ്ടു ഭ്രമിച്ചു.

13. and Simon also himself did believe, and, having been baptized, he was continuing with Philip, beholding also signs and mighty acts being done, he was amazed.

14. അനന്തരം യെരൂശലേമിലുള്ള അപ്പൊസ്തലന്മാര്, ശമര്യര് ദൈവവചനം കൈക്കൊണ്ടു എന്നു കേട്ടു പത്രൊസിനെയും യോഹന്നാനെയും അവരുടെ അടുക്കല് അയച്ചു.

14. And the apostles in Jerusalem having heard that Samaria hath received the word of God, did send unto them Peter and John,

15. അവര് ചെന്നു, അവര്ക്കും പരിശുദ്ധാത്മാവു ലഭിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു അവര്ക്കായി പ്രാര്ത്ഥിച്ചു.

15. who having come down did pray concerning them, that they may receive the Holy Spirit, --

16. അന്നുവരെ അവരില് ആരുടെമേലും ആത്മാവു വന്നിരുന്നില്ല; അവര് കര്ത്താവായ യേശുവിന്റെ നാമത്തില് സ്നാനം ഏറ്റിരുന്നതേയുള്ളു.

16. for as yet he was fallen upon none of them, and only they have been baptized -- to the name of the Lord Jesus;

17. അവര് അവരുടെമേല് കൈ വെച്ചപ്പോള് അവര്ക്കും പരിശുദ്ധാത്മാവു ലഭിച്ചു.

17. then were they laying hands on them, and they received the Holy Spirit.

18. അപ്പൊസ്തലന്മാര് കൈ വെച്ചതിനാല് പരിശുദ്ധാത്മാവു ലഭിച്ചതു ശിമോന് കണ്ടാറെ അവര്ക്കും ദ്രവ്യം കൊണ്ടു വന്നു

18. And Simon, having beheld that through the laying on of the hands of the apostles, the Holy Spirit is given, brought before them money,

19. ഞാന് ഒരുത്തന്റെ മേല് കൈ വെച്ചാല് അവന്നു പരിശുദ്ധാത്മാവു ലഭിപ്പാന് തക്കവണ്ണം ഈ അധികാരം എനിക്കും തരേണം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

19. saying, 'Give also to me this authority, that on whomsoever I may lay the hands, he may receive the Holy Spirit.'

20. പത്രൊസ് അവനോടുദൈവത്തിന്റെ ദാനം പണത്തിന്നു വാങ്ങിക്കൊള്ളാം എന്നു നീ നിരൂപിക്കകൊണ്ടു നിന്റെ പണം നിന്നോടുകൂടെ നശിച്ചുപോകട്ടെ.

20. And Peter said unto him, 'Thy silver with thee -- may it be to destruction! because the gift of God thou didst think to possess through money;

21. നിന്റെ ഹൃദയം ദൈവ സന്നിധിയില് നേരുള്ളതല്ലായ്കകൊണ്ടു ഈ കാര്യത്തില് നിനക്കു പങ്കും ഔഹരിയുമില്ല.

21. thou hast neither part nor lot in this thing, for thy heart is not right before God;

22. നീ ഈ വഷളത്വം വിട്ടു മാനസാന്തരപ്പെട്ടു കര്ത്താവിനോടു പ്രാര്ത്ഥിക്ക; പക്ഷെ നിന്റെ ഹൃദയത്തിലെ നിരൂപണം ക്ഷമിച്ചുകിട്ടുമായിരിക്കും.

22. reform, therefore, from this thy wickedness, and beseech God, if then the purpose of thy heart may be forgiven thee,

23. നീ കൈപ്പുള്ള പകയിലും അനീതിയുടെ ബന്ധനത്തിലും അകപ്പെട്ടിരിക്കുന്നു.

23. for in the gall of bitterness, and bond of unrighteousness, I perceive thee being.'

24. എന്നു ഞാന് കാണുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അതിന്നു ശിമോന് നിങ്ങള് പറഞ്ഞതു ഒന്നും എനിക്കു ഭവിക്കാതിരിപ്പാന് കര്ത്താവിനോടു എനിക്കുവേണ്ടി പ്രാര്ത്ഥിപ്പിന് എന്നു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.

24. And Simon answering, said, 'Beseech ye for me unto the Lord, that nothing may come upon me of the things ye have spoken.'

25. അവര് കര്ത്താവിന്റെ വചനം സാക്ഷീകരിച്ചു പ്രസംഗിച്ചശേഷം ശമര്യക്കാരുടെ അനേക ഗ്രാമങ്ങളില് സുവിശേഷം അറിയിച്ചുകൊണ്ടു യെരൂശലേമിലേക്കു മടങ്ങിപ്പോയി.

25. They indeed, therefore, having testified fully, and spoken the word of the Lord, did turn back to Jerusalem; in many villages also of the Samaritans they did proclaim good news.

26. അനന്തരം കര്ത്താവിന്റെ ദൂതന് ഫിലിപ്പൊസിനോടുനീ എഴുന്നേറ്റു തെക്കോട്ടു യെരൂശലേമില് നിന്നു ഗസെക്കുള്ള നിര്ജ്ജനമായ വഴിയിലേക്കു പോക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

26. And a messenger of the Lord spake unto Philip, saying, 'Arise, and go on toward the south, on the way that is going down from Jerusalem to Gaza,' -- this is desert.

27. അവന് പുറപ്പെട്ടു ചെന്നപ്പോള് കന്ദക്ക എന്ന ഐത്യോപ്യാ രാജ്ഞിയുടെ ഒരു ഷണ്ഡനും മഹാനും അവളുടെ സകലഭണ്ഡാരത്തിന്നും മേല്വിചാരകനുമായ ഒരു ഐത്യോപ്യനെ കണ്ടു. അവന് യെരൂശലേമില് നമസ്കരിപ്പാന് വന്നിട്ടു മടങ്ങിപ്പോകയില്

27. And having arisen, he went on, and lo, a man of Ethiopia, a eunuch, a man of rank, of Candace the queen of the Ethiopians, who was over all her treasure, who had come to worship to Jerusalem;

28. തേരില് ഇരുന്നു യെശയ്യാപ്രവാചകന്റെ പുസ്തകം വായിക്കയായിരുന്നു.

28. he was also returning, and is sitting on his chariot, and he was reading the prophet Isaiah.

29. ആത്മാവു ഫിലിപ്പൊസിനോടുനീ അടുത്തുചെന്നു തേരിനോടു ചേര്ന്നുനടക്ക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

29. And the Spirit said to Philip, 'Go near, and be joined to this chariot;'

30. ഫിലിപ്പൊസ് ഔടിച്ചെല്ലുമ്പോള് യെശയ്യാപ്രവാചകന്റെ പുസ്തകം വായിക്കുന്നതു കേട്ടുനീ വായിക്കുന്നതു ഗ്രഹിക്കുന്നുവോ എന്നു ചോദിച്ചതിന്നു

30. and Philip having run near, heard him reading the prophet Isaiah, and said, 'Dost thou then know what thou dost read?'

31. ഒരുത്തന് പൊരുള് തിരിച്ചുതരാഞ്ഞാല് എങ്ങനെ ഗ്രഹിക്കും എന്നു അവന് പറഞ്ഞു, ഫിലിപ്പൊസ് കയറി തന്നോടുകൂടെ ഇരിക്കേണം എന്നു അപേക്ഷിച്ചു.

31. and he said, 'Why, how am I able, if some one may not guide me?' he called Philip also, having come up, to sit with him.

32. And the contents of the Writing that he was reading was this: 'As a sheep unto slaughter he was led, and as a lamb before his shearer dumb, so he doth not open his mouth;

33. “അറുക്കുവാനുള്ള ആടിനെപ്പോലെ അവനെ കൊണ്ടുപോയി; രോമം കത്രിക്കുന്നവന്റെ മുമ്പാകെ മിണ്ടാതിരിക്കുന്ന കുഞ്ഞാടിനെപ്പോലെ അവന് വായ് തുറക്കാതിരുന്നു. അവന്റെ താഴ്ചയില് അവന്നു ന്യായം കിട്ടാതെ പോയി; അവന്റെ തലമുറയെ ആര് വിവരിക്കും? ഭൂമിയില് നിന്നു അവന്റെ ജീവനെ എടുത്തുകളയുന്നുവല്ലോ”

33. in his humiliation his judgment was taken away, and his generation -- who shall declare? because taken from the earth is his life.'

34. ഷണ്ഡന് ഫിലിപ്പൊസിനോടുഇതു പ്രവാചകന് ആരെക്കുറിച്ചു പറയുന്നു? തന്നെക്കുറിച്ചോ മറ്റൊരുത്തനെക്കുറിച്ചോ.

34. And the eunuch answering Philip said, 'I pray thee, about whom doth the prophet say this? about himself, or about some other one?'

35. ഫിലിപ്പൊസ് ഈ തിരുവെഴുത്തു ആധാരമാക്കി അവനോടു യേശുവിനെക്കുറിച്ചുള്ള സുവിശേഷം അറിയിപ്പാന് തുടങ്ങി.

35. and Philip having opened his mouth, and having begun from this Writing, proclaimed good news to him -- Jesus.

36. അവര് ഇങ്ങനെ വഴിപോകയില് വെള്ളമുള്ളോരു സ്ഥലത്തു എത്തിയപ്പോള് ഷണ്ഡന് ഇതാ വെള്ളം ഞാന് സ്നാനം ഏലക്കുന്നതിന്നു എന്തു വിരോധം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

36. And as they were going on the way, they came upon a certain water, and the eunuch said, 'Lo, water; what doth hinder me to be baptized?'

37. (അതിന്നു ഫിലിപ്പൊസ്നീ പൂര്ണ്ണ ഹൃദയത്തോടെ വിശ്വസിക്കുന്നു എങ്കില് ആകാം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. യേശു ക്രിസ്തു ദൈവപുത്രന് എന്നു ഞാന് വിശ്വസിക്കുന്നു എന്നു അവന് ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു)

37. [And Philip said, 'If thou dost believe out of all the heart, it is lawful;' and he answering said, 'I believe Jesus Christ to be the Son of God;']

38. അങ്ങനെ അവന് തേര് നിര്ത്തുവാന് കല്പിച്ചു; ഫിലിപ്പൊസും ഷണ്ഡനും ഇരുവരും വെള്ളത്തില് ഇറങ്ങി, അവന് അവനെ സ്നാനം കഴിപ്പിച്ചു;

38. and he commanded the chariot to stand still, and they both went down to the water, both Philip and the eunuch, and he baptized him;

39. അവര് വെള്ളത്തില് നിന്നു കയറിയപ്പോള് കര്ത്താവിന്റെ ആത്മാവു ഫിലിപ്പൊസിനെ എടുത്തു കൊണ്ടുപോയി; ഷണ്ഡന് അവനെ പിന്നെ കണ്ടില്ല; അവന് സന്തോഷിച്ചുകൊണ്ടു തന്റെ വഴിക്കു പോയി.

39. and when they came up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord caught away Philip, and the eunuch saw him no more, for he was going on his way rejoicing;

40. ഫിലിപ്പൊസിനെ പിന്നെ അസ്തോദില് കണ്ടു; അവന് സഞ്ചരിച്ചു എല്ലാ പട്ടണങ്ങളിലും സുവിശേഷം അറിയിച്ചുകൊണ്ടു കൈസര്യയില് എത്തി.

40. and Philip was found at Azotus, and passing through, he was proclaiming good news to all the cities, till his coming to Caesarea.
