1. പിന്നെ യഹോവ യോശുവയോടു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തതു

1. And Jehovah spoke to Joshua, saying,

2. നീ യിസ്രായേല്മക്കളോടു പറയേണ്ടതു എന്തെന്നാല്അറിയാതെ അബദ്ധവശാല് ഒരാളെ കൊന്നുപോയവന് ഔടിപ്പോയി ഇരിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു ഞാന് മോശെ മുഖാന്തരം നിങ്ങളോടു കല്പിച്ച സങ്കേതനഗരങ്ങള് നിശ്ചയിപ്പിന് .

2. Speak to the sons of Israel, saying, Give cities of refuge for you, as I have spoken to you by the hand of Moses,

3. രക്തപ്രതികാരകന് കൊല്ലാതിരിപ്പാന് അവ നിങ്ങള്ക്കു സങ്കേതമായിരിക്കേണം.

3. that the manslayer who in innocence strikes anyone mortally, without knowing, may flee there. And they shall be your refuge from the avenger of blood.

4. ആ പട്ടണങ്ങളില് ഒന്നിലേക്കു ഔടിച്ചെല്ലുന്നവന് പട്ടണത്തിന്റെ പടിവാതില്ക്കല് നിന്നുകൊണ്ടു തന്റെ കാര്യം പട്ടണത്തിലെ മൂപ്പന്മാരെ അറിയിക്കുകയും അവര് അവനെ പട്ടണത്തില് കൈക്കൊണ്ടു തങ്ങളുടെ ഇടയില് പാര്ക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു അവന്നു ഒരു സ്ഥലം കൊടുക്കയും വേണം.

4. And he shall flee to one of those cities and shall stand at the entrance of the gate of the city, and shall declare his matter in the ears of the elders of that city. And they shall take him into the city to themselves, and shall give him a place, and he shall live with them.

6. അവന് സഭയുടെ മുമ്പാകെ വിസ്താരത്തിന്നു നിലക്കുംവരെയോ അന്നുള്ള പുരോഹിതന്റെ മരണംവരെയോ ആ പട്ടണത്തില് പാര്ക്കേണം; അതിന്റെ ശേഷം കുലചെയ്തവന്നു താന് വിട്ടോടിപ്പോന്ന സ്വന്ത പട്ടണത്തിലേക്കും തന്റെ വീട്ടിലേക്കും മടങ്ങിച്ചെല്ലാം.

6. And he shall live in that city until he stands before the congregation for judgment, until the death of the high priest who is in those days. Then the manslayer shall return and come to his city, and to his house, to the city from where he fled.

7. അങ്ങനെ അവര് നഫ്താലിമലനാട്ടില് ഗലീലയിലെ കേദെശും എഫ്രയീംമലനാട്ടില് ശെഖേമും യെഹൂദാമല നാട്ടില് ഹെബ്രോന് എന്ന കിര്യ്യത്ത്-അര്ബ്ബയും കിഴക്കു യെരീഹോവിന്നെതിരെ യോര്ദ്ദാന്നക്കരെ മരുഭൂമിയില് രൂബേന് ഗോത്രത്തില് സമഭൂമിയിലുള്ള ബേസെരും ഗിലെയാദില് ഗാദ് ഗോത്രത്തില് രാമോത്തും ബാശാനില് മനശ്ശെഗോത്രത്തില് ഗോലാനും നിശ്ചയിച്ചു.

7. And they set apart Kadesh in Galilee, in the hills of Naphtali; and Shechem in the hills of Ephraim; and Kirjath-arba; (it is Hebron) in the hills of Judah.

8. അബദ്ധവശാല് ഒരുത്തനെ കൊന്നുപോയവന് സഭയുടെ മുമ്പാകെ നിലക്കുംവരെ രക്തപ്രതികാരകന്റെ കയ്യാല് മരിക്കാതെ ഔടിപ്പോയി ഇരിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു യിസ്രയേല്മക്കള്ക്കൊക്കെയും അവരുടെ ഇടയില് വന്നുപാര്ക്കുംന്ന പരദേശിക്കും വേണ്ടി നിശ്ചയിച്ച പട്ടണങ്ങള് ഇവ തന്നെ.

8. And beyond the Jordan, at Jericho eastward, they gave Bezer in the wilderness, on the tableland out of the tribe of Reuben; and Ramoth in Gilead out of the tribe of Gad; and Golan in Bashan out of the tribe of Manasseh.
