1. എന്നാല് യെരീഹോവിനെ യിസ്രായേല്മക്കളുടെ നിമിത്തം അടെച്ചു ഉറപ്പാക്കിയിരുന്നു; ആരും പുറത്തിറങ്ങിയില്ല, അകത്തു കയറിയതുമില്ല.

1. Yericho had completely barricaded its gates against the people of Isra'el- no one left, and no one entered.

2. യഹോവ യോശുവയോടു കല്പിച്ചതുഞാന് യെരീഹോവിനെയും അതിന്റെ രാജാവിനെയും യുദ്ധവീരന്മാരെയും നിന്റെ കയ്യില് ഏല്പിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.

2. ADONAI said to Y'hoshua, 'I have handed Yericho over to you, including its king and his warriors.

3. നിങ്ങളില് യോദ്ധാക്കളായ എല്ലാവരും ഒരുവട്ടം പട്ടണത്തെ ചുറ്റിനടക്കേണം; ഇങ്ങനെ ആറു ദിവസം ചെയ്യേണം.

3. You are to encircle the city with all your soldiers and march around it once. Do this for six days.

4. ഏഴു പുരോഹിതന്മാര് ആട്ടിന് കൊമ്പുകൊണ്ടുള്ള ഏഴു കാഹളം പിടിച്ചുകൊണ്ടു പെട്ടകത്തിന്റെ മുമ്പില് നടക്കേണം; ഏഴാം ദിവസം ഏഴു പ്രാവശ്യം പട്ടണത്തെ ചുറ്റുകയും പുരോഹിതന്മാര് കാഹളം ഊതുകയും വേണം.

4. Seven [cohanim] are to carry seven [shofar]s in front of the ark. On the seventh day you are to march around the city seven times, and the [cohanim] will blow the [shofar]s.

5. അവര് ആട്ടിന് കൊമ്പു നീട്ടിയൂതുകയും നിങ്ങള് കാഹളനാദം കേള്ക്കയും ചെയ്യുമ്പോള് ജനമൊക്കെയും ഉച്ചത്തില് ആര്പ്പിടേണം; അപ്പോള് പട്ടണമതില് വീഴും; ജനം ഔരോരുത്തന് നേരെ കയറുകയും വേണം.

5. Then they are to blow a long blast on the [shofar]. On hearing the sound of the [shofar], all the people are to shout as loudly as they can; and the wall of the city will fall down flat. Then the people are to go up into the city, each one straight from where he stands.'

6. നൂന്റെ മകനായ യോശുവ പുരോഹിതന്മാരെ വിളിച്ചു അവരോടുനിയമപെട്ടകം എടുപ്പിന് ; ഏഴു പുരോഹിതന്മാര് യഹോവയുടെ പെട്ടകത്തിന്നു മുമ്പില് ആട്ടിന് കൊമ്പുകൊണ്ടുള്ള ഏഴു കാഹളം പിടിച്ചുകൊണ്ടു നടക്കേണം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

6. Y'hoshua the son of Nun called the [cohanim] and told them, 'Take up the ark for the covenant, and have seven [cohanim] carry seven [shofar]s ahead of the ark of ADONAI.'

7. ജനത്തോടു അവന് നിങ്ങള് ചെന്നു പട്ടണത്തെ ചുറ്റിനടപ്പിന് ; ആയുധപാണികള് യഹോവയുടെ പെട്ടകത്തിന്റെ മുമ്പില് നടക്കേണം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

7. To the people he said, 'Move on, encircle the city, and have the army march ahead of the ark of ADONAI.'

8. യോശുവ ജനത്തോടു പറഞ്ഞുതീര്ന്നപ്പോള് ആട്ടിന് കൊമ്പുകൊണ്ടുള്ള ഏഴു കാഹളം പിടിച്ചുകൊണ്ടു ഏഴു പുരോഹിതന്മാര് യഹോവയുടെ മുമ്പില് നടന്നു കാഹളം ഊതി; യഹോവയുടെ നിയമപ്പെട്ടകം അവരുടെ പിന്നാലെ ചെന്നു.

8. When Y'hoshua had spoken to the people, the seven [cohanim] carrying the seven [shofar]s before ADONAI passed on and blew on the [shofar]s, with the ark for the covenant of ADONAI following them.

9. ആയുധപാണികള് കാഹളം ഊതുന്ന പുരോഹിതന്മാരുടെ മുമ്പില് നടന്നു; ശേഷമുള്ള കൂട്ടം പെട്ടകത്തിന്റെ പിന്നാലെ ചെന്നു; ഇങ്ങനെ അവര് കാഹളം ഊതിക്കൊണ്ടു നടന്നു.

9. The fighting men went ahead of the [cohanim] blowing the [shofar]s, while the rearguard marched after the ark, with incessant blowing on the [shofar]s.

10. യോശുവ ജനത്തോടുആര്പ്പിടുവിന് എന്നു ഞാന് നിങ്ങളോടു കല്പിക്കുന്ന നാള്വരെ നിങ്ങള് ആര്പ്പിടരുതു; ഒച്ചകേള്പ്പിക്കരുതു; വായില്നിന്നു ഒരു വാക്കും പുറപ്പെടുകയും അരുതു; അതിന്റെശേഷം ആര്പ്പിടാം എന്നു കല്പിച്ചു.

10. Y'hoshua gave this order to the people: 'Don't shout, don't let your voice be heard, don't let a single word out of your mouth until the day I tell you to shout; then you will shout.'

11. അങ്ങനെ യഹോവയുടെ പെട്ടകം ഒരു പ്രാവശ്യം പട്ടണത്തെ ചുറ്റിനടന്നു; പിന്നെ അവര് പാളയത്തിലേക്കു വന്നു പാളയത്തില് പാര്ത്തു.

11. So he had the ark of ADONAI make a circle around the city, going around it once; then they returned to camp and stayed in the camp.

12. യോശുവ അതികാലത്തേ എഴുന്നേറ്റു; പുരോഹിതന്മാര് യഹോവയുടെ പെട്ടകം എടുത്തു.

12. The next morning Y'hoshua got up early, and the [cohanim] took up the ark of ADONAI.

13. ഏഴു പുരോഹിതന്മാര് യഹോവയുടെ പെട്ടകത്തിന്റെ മുമ്പില് ആട്ടിന് കൊമ്പുകൊണ്ടുള്ള ഏഴു കാഹളം പിടിച്ചു കാഹളം ഊതിക്കൊണ്ടു നടന്നു; ആയുധപാണികള് അവരുടെ മുമ്പില് നടന്നു; ശേഷമുള്ള കൂട്ടം യഹോവയുടെ പെട്ടകത്തിന്റെ പിന്നാലെ നടന്നു; ഇങ്ങനെ അവര് കാഹളം ഊതിക്കൊണ്ടു നടന്നു.

13. The seven [cohanim] carrying the seven [shofar]s ahead of the ark of ADONAI went on, continually blowing on their [shofar]s, with the fighting men marching ahead of them and the rearguard following after the ark of ADONAI; all the while the blowing on the [shofar]s was incessant.

14. രണ്ടാം ദിവസം അവര് പട്ടണത്തെ ഒരു പ്രാവശ്യം ചുറ്റീട്ടു പാളയത്തിലേക്കു മടങ്ങിപ്പോന്നു. ഇങ്ങനെ അവര് ആറു ദിവസം ചെയ്തു;

14. The second day, they went around the city once and returned to camp. They did the same for six days.

15. ഏഴാം ദിവസമോ അവര് അതികാലത്തു അരുണോദയത്തിങ്കല് എഴുന്നേറ്റു പട്ടണത്തെ ആ വിധത്തില് തന്നേ ഏഴുപ്രവാശ്യം ചുറ്റി; അന്നുമാത്രം അവര് പട്ടണത്തെ ഏഴു പ്രാവശ്യം ചുറ്റി.

15. On the seventh day, they got up early, at sunrise, and went around the city in the same way seven times. That was the only day they encircled the city seven times.

16. ഏഴാംപ്രാവശ്യം പുരോഹിതന്മാര് കാഹളം ഊതിയപ്പോള് യോശുവ ജനത്തോടു പറഞ്ഞതെന്തെന്നാല്ആര്പ്പിടുവിന് ; യഹോവ പട്ടണം നിങ്ങള്ക്കു തന്നിരിക്കുന്നു.

16. The seventh time, when the [cohanim] blew on their [shofar]s, Y'hoshua said to the people, 'Shout! because ADONAI has given you the city!

17. ഈ പട്ടണവും അതിലുള്ളതൊക്കെയും യഹോവേക്കു ശപഥാര്പ്പിതമായിരിക്കുന്നു; എങ്കിലും രാഹാബ് എന്ന വേശ്യ നാം അയച്ച ദൂതന്മാരെ ഒളിപ്പിച്ചതിനാല് അവളും അവളോടുകൂടെ വീട്ടിലുള്ള എല്ലാവരും ജീവനോടിരിക്കട്ടെ.

17. But the city and everything in it is to be set aside for ADONAI and therefore to be destroyed completely; only Rachav the prostitute is to be spared, she and everyone with her in her house, because she hid the messengers we sent.

18. എന്നാല് നിങ്ങള് ശപഥംചെയ്തിരിക്കെ ശപഥാര്പ്പിതത്തില് വല്ലതും എടുത്തിട്ടു യിസ്രായേല്പാളയത്തിന്നു ശാപവും അനര്ത്ഥവും വരുത്താതിരിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു ശപഥാര്പ്പിതമായ വസ്തുവൊന്നും തൊടാതിരിപ്പാന് സൂക്ഷിച്ചുകൊള്വിന് .

18. So you, keep clear of everything reserved for destruction. If you bring a curse on yourselves by taking anything set aside to be destroyed, you will bring a curse on the whole camp of Isra'el and cause great distress there.

19. വെള്ളിയും പൊന്നും ഒക്കെയും ചെമ്പും ഇരിമ്പുംകൊണ്ടുള്ള പാത്രങ്ങളും യഹോവേക്കു വിശുദ്ധം; അവ യഹോവയുടെ ഭണ്ഡാരത്തില് ചേരേണം.

19. All the silver and gold, and all the brass and iron utensils are to be separated out for ADONAI and added to the treasury of ADONAI.'

20. അനന്തരം ജനം ആര്പ്പിടുകയും പുരോഹിതന്മാര് കാഹളം ഊതുകയും ചെയ്തു; ജനം കാഹളനാദംകേട്ടു അത്യുച്ചത്തില് ആര്പ്പിട്ടപ്പോള് മതില് വീണു; ജനം ഔരോരുത്തന് നേരെ മുമ്പോട്ടു പട്ടണത്തിലേക്കു കടന്നു പട്ടണം പിടിച്ചു.

20. So the people shouted, with the [shofar]s blowing. When the people heard the sound of the [shofar]s, the people let out a great shout; and the wall fell down flat; so that the people went up into the city, each one straight ahead of him; and they captured the city.

21. പുരുഷന് , സ്ത്രീ, ബാലന് , വൃദ്ധന് , ആടു, മാടു, കഴുത എന്നിങ്ങനെ പട്ടണത്തിലുള്ള സകലത്തെയും അവര് വാളിന്റെ വായ്ത്തലയാല് അശേഷം സംഹരിച്ചു.

21. They completely destroyed everything in the city with the sword- men and women, young and old, cattle, sheep and donkeys.

22. എന്നാല് രാജ്യത്തെ ഒറ്റുനോക്കിയ രണ്ടു പുരുഷന്മാരോടു യോശുവവേശ്യയുടെ വീട്ടില് ചെന്നു അവിടെ നിന്നു ആ സ്ത്രീയെയും അവള്ക്കുള്ള സകലത്തെയും നിങ്ങള് അവളോടു സത്യംചെയ്തതുപോലെ പുറത്തുകൊണ്ടുവരുവിന് എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

22. Y'hoshua said to the two men who had reconnoitered the land, 'Go into the prostitute's house and bring the woman out with all that she has, as you swore to her.'

23. അങ്ങനെ ഒറ്റുകാരായിരുന്ന യൌവനക്കാര് ചെന്നു രാഹാബിനെയും അവളുടെ അപ്പനെയും അമ്മയെയും സഹോദരന്മാരെയും അവള്ക്കുള്ള സകലത്തെയും പുറത്തു കൊണ്ടു വന്നു; അവളുടെ എല്ലാ ചാര്ച്ചക്കാരെയും പുറത്തു കൊണ്ടുവന്നു യിസ്രായേല്പാളയത്തിന്നു പുറത്തു പാര്പ്പിച്ചു.

23. The young men, the spies, went in and brought out Rachav with her father, mother, brothers and all she had; they brought out all her relatives and put them safely outside the camp of Isra'el.

24. പിന്നെ അവര് പട്ടണവും അതിലുള്ളതൊക്കെയും തീവെച്ചു ചുട്ടുകളഞ്ഞു; എന്നാല് വെള്ളിയും പൊന്നും ചെമ്പുകൊണ്ടും ഇരിമ്പുകൊണ്ടുമുള്ള പാത്രങ്ങളും അവര് യഹോവയുടെ ആലയത്തിലെ ഭണ്ഡാരത്തില്വെച്ചു.

24. Then they burned the city to ashes with everything in it, except for the silver, the gold and the brass and iron utensils, which they put in the treasury of the house of ADONAI.

25. യെരീഹോവിനെ ഒറ്റുനോക്കുവാന് അയച്ച ദൂതന്മാരെ രാഹാബ് എന്ന വേശ്യ ഒളിപ്പിച്ചതുകൊണ്ടു യോശുവ അവളെയും അവളുടെ പിതൃഭവനത്തെയും അവള്ക്കുള്ള സകലത്തെയും ജീവനോടെ രക്ഷിച്ചു; അവള് ഇന്നുവരെയും യിസ്രായേലില് പാര്ക്കുംന്നു.

25. But Y'hoshua spared Rachav the prostitute, her father's household and everything she had; and she has continued living with Isra'el from then until now; because she hid the messengers Y'hoshua had sent to reconnoiter Yericho.

26. അക്കാലത്തു യോശുവ ശപഥം ചെയ്തുഈ യെരീഹോപട്ടണത്തെ പണിയുവാന് തുനിയുന്ന മനുഷ്യന് യഹോവയുടെ മുമ്പാകെ ശപീക്കപ്പെട്ടവന് ; അവന് അതിന്റെ അടിസ്ഥാനമിടുമ്പോള് അവന്റെ മൂത്തമകന് നഷ്ടമാകും; അതിന്റെ കതകു തൊടുക്കുമ്പോള് ഇളയമകനും നഷ്ടമാകും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

26. Y'hoshua then made the people take this oath: 'A curse before ADONAI on anyone who rises up and rebuilds this city of Yericho: he will lay its foundation with the loss of his firstborn son and set up its gates with the loss of his youngest son.'

27. അങ്ങനെ യഹോവ യോശുവയോടുകൂടെ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു; അവന്റെ കീര്ത്തി ദേശത്തു എല്ലാടവും പരന്നു.

27. So ADONAI was with Y'hoshua, and people heard about him throughout the land.
