1. എന്റെ കുഞ്ഞുങ്ങളേ, നിങ്ങള് പാപം ചെയ്യാതിരിപ്പാന് ഞാന് ഇതു നിങ്ങള്ക്കു എഴുതുന്നു. ഒരുത്തന് പാപം ചെയ്തു എങ്കിലോ, നീതിമാനായ യേശുക്രിസ്തു എന്ന കാര്യ്യസ്ഥന് നമുക്കു പിതാവിന്റെ അടുക്കല് ഉണ്ടു.

1. My little children, these things write I vnto you, that ye sinne not: and if any man sinne, wee haue an Aduocate with the Father, Iesus Christ, the Iust.

2. അവന് നമ്മുടെ പാപങ്ങള്ക്കു പ്രായശ്ചിത്തം ആകുന്നു; നമ്മുടേതിന്നു മാത്രം അല്ല, സര്വ്വലോകത്തിന്റെ പാപത്തിന്നും തന്നേ.

2. And he is the reconciliation for our sinnes: and not for ours onely, but also for the sinnes of the whole world.

3. അവന്റെ കല്പനകളെ പ്രമാണിക്കുന്നു എങ്കില് നാം അവനെ അറിഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു അതിനാല് അറിയുന്നു.

3. And hereby we are sure that we knowe him, if we keepe his commandements.

4. അവനെ അറിഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറകയും അവന്റെ കല്പനകളെ പ്രമാണിക്കാതിരിക്കയും ചെയ്യുന്നവന് കള്ളന് ആകുന്നു; സത്യം അവനില് ഇല്ല.

4. Hee that saith, I knowe him, and keepeth not his commandements, is a liar, and the trueth is not in him.

5. എന്നാല് ആരെങ്കിലും അവന്റെ വചനം പ്രമാണിക്കുന്നു എങ്കില് അവനില് ദൈവസ്നേഹം വാസ്തവമായി തികഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു. നാം അവനില് ഇരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു ഇതിനാല് നമുക്കു അറിയാം.

5. But hee that keepeth his worde, in him is the loue of God perfect in deede: hereby wee knowe that ye are in him.

6. അവനില് വസിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറയുന്നവന് അവന് നടന്നതുപോലെ നടക്കേണ്ടതാകുന്നു.

6. He that saith he remaineth in him, ought euen so to walke, as he hath walked.

7. പ്രിയമുള്ളവരേ, പുതിയോരു കല്പനയല്ല ആദിമുതല് നിങ്ങള്ക്കുള്ള പഴയ കല്പനയത്രേ ഞാന് നിങ്ങള്ക്കു എഴുതുന്നതു. ആ പഴയ കല്പന നിങ്ങള് കേട്ട വചനം തന്നേ.

7. Brethren, I write no newe commandement vnto you: but an olde commandement, which ye haue had from the beginning: this olde commandement is that worde, which yee haue heard from the beginning.

8. പുതിയോരു കല്പന ഞാന് നിങ്ങള്ക്കു എഴുതുന്നു എന്നും പറയാം. അതു അവനിലും നിങ്ങളിലും സത്യമായിരിക്കുന്നു; ഇരുട്ടു നീങ്ങിപോകുന്നു; സത്യവെളിച്ചം ഇതാ പ്രകാശിക്കുന്നു.

8. Againe, a new comandement I write vnto you, that which is true in him, and also in you: for the darkenes is past, and that true light now shineth.

9. വെളിച്ചത്തില് ഇരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറകയും സഹോദരനെ പകെക്കയും ചെയ്യുന്നവന് ഇന്നെയോളം ഇരുട്ടില് ഇരിക്കുന്നു.

9. He that saith that hee is in that light, and hateth his brother, is in darkenes, vntill this time.

10. സഹോദരനെ സ്നേഹിക്കുന്നവന് വെളിച്ചത്തില് വസിക്കുന്നു; ഇടര്ച്ചെക്കു അവനില് കാരണമില്ല.

10. Hee that loueth his brother, abideth in that light, and there is none occasion of euil in him.

11. സഹോദരനെ പകെക്കുന്നവനോ ഇരുട്ടില് ഇരിക്കുന്നു; ഇരുട്ടില് നടക്കയും ചെയ്യുന്നു. ഇരുട്ടു അവന്റെ കണ്ണു കുരുടാക്കുകയാല് എവിടേക്കു പോകുന്നു എന്നു അവന് അറിയുന്നില്ല.

11. But he that hateth his brother, is in darkenesse, and walketh in darkenesse, and knoweth not whither hee goeth, because that darkenesse hath blinded his eyes.

12. കുഞ്ഞുങ്ങളേ, നിങ്ങള്ക്കു അവന്റെ നാമം നിമിത്തം പാപങ്ങള് മോചിച്ചിരിക്കയാല് ഞാന് നിങ്ങള്ക്കു എഴുതുന്നു.

12. Litle children, I write vnto you, because your sinnes are forgiuen you for his Names sake.

13. പിതാക്കന്മാരേ, ആദിമുതലുള്ളവനെ നിങ്ങള് അറിഞ്ഞിരിക്കയാല് നിങ്ങള്ക്കു എഴുതുന്നു. ബാല്യക്കാരേ, നിങ്ങള് ദുഷ്ടനെ ജയിച്ചിരിക്കയാല് നിങ്ങള്ക്കു എഴുതുന്നു. കുഞ്ഞുങ്ങളേ, നിങ്ങള് പിതാവിനെ അറിഞ്ഞിരിക്കയാല് ഞാന് നിങ്ങള്ക്കു എഴുതിയിരിക്കുന്നു.

13. I write vnto you, fathers, because yee haue knowen him that is from the beginning. I write vnto you, yong men, because ye haue ouercome that wicked one. I write vnto you, litle children, because ye haue knowen ye Father.

14. പിതാക്കന്മാരേ, ആദിമുതലുള്ളവനെ നിങ്ങള് അറിഞ്ഞിരിക്കയാല് ഞാന് നിങ്ങള്ക്കു എഴുതിയിരിക്കുന്നു. ബാല്യക്കാരേ, നിങ്ങള് ശക്തരാകയാലും ദൈവവചനം നിങ്ങളില് വസിക്കയാലും നിങ്ങള് ദുഷ്ടനെ ജയിച്ചിരിക്കയാലും ഞാന് നിങ്ങള്ക്കു എഴുതിയിരിക്കുന്നു.

14. I haue written vnto you, fathers, because ye haue knowen him, that is from the beginning. I haue written vnto you, yong men, because ye are strong, and the worde of God abideth in you, and ye haue ouercome that wicked one.

15. ലോകത്തെയും ലോകത്തിലുള്ളതിനെയും സ്നേഹിക്കരുതു. ഒരുവന് ലോകത്തെ സ്നേഹിക്കുന്നുവെങ്കില് അവനില് പിതാവിന്റെ സ്നേഹം ഇല്ല.

15. Loue not this world, neither the things that are in this world. If any man loue this world, the loue of the Father is not in him.

16. ജഡമോഹം, കണ്മോഹം, ജീവനത്തിന്റെ പ്രതാപം ഇങ്ങനെ ലോകത്തിലുള്ളതു എല്ലാം പിതാവില്നിന്നല്ല, ലോകത്തില്നിന്നത്രേ ആകുന്നു.

16. For all that is in this world (as the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life) is not of the Father, but is of this world.

17. ലോകവും അതിന്റെ മോഹവും ഒഴിഞ്ഞുപോകുന്നു; ദൈവേഷ്ടം ചെയ്യുന്നവനോ എന്നേക്കും ഇരിക്കുന്നു.

17. And this world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that fulfilleth the will of God, abideth euer.

18. കുഞ്ഞുങ്ങളേ, ഇതു അന്ത്യനാഴിക ആകുന്നു; എതിര്ക്രിസ്തു വരുന്നു എന്നു നിങ്ങള് കേട്ടിട്ടുണ്ടല്ലോ. ഇപ്പോള് അനേകം എതിര്ക്രിസ്തുക്കള് എഴുന്നേറ്റിരിക്കയാല് അന്ത്യനാഴിക ആകുന്നു എന്നു നമുക്കു അറിയാം.

18. Litle children, it is the last time, and as ye haue heard that Antichrist shall come, euen now are there many Antichrists: whereby we know that it is the last time.

19. അവര് നമ്മുടെ ഇടയില്നിന്നു പുറപ്പെട്ടു എങ്കിലും നമുക്കുള്ളവര് ആയിരുന്നില്ല; അവര് നമുക്കുള്ളവര് ആയിരുന്നു എങ്കില് നമ്മോടുകൂടെ പാര്ക്കുംമായിരുന്നു; എന്നാല് എല്ലാവരും നമുക്കുള്ളവരല്ല എന്നു പ്രസിദ്ധമാകേണ്ടതല്ലോ.

19. They went out from vs, but they were not of vs: for if they had bene of vs, they should haue continued with vs. But this cometh to passe, that it might appeare, that they are not all of vs.

20. നിങ്ങളോ പരിശുദ്ധനാല് അഭിഷേകം പ്രാപിച്ചു സകലവും അറിയുന്നു.

20. But ye haue an ointment from that Holy one, and know all things.

21. നിങ്ങള് സത്യം അറിയായ്കകൊണ്ടല്ല, നിങ്ങള് അതു അറികയാലും ഭോഷകു ഒന്നും സത്യത്തില്നിന്നു വരായ്കയാലുമത്രേ ഞാന് നിങ്ങള്ക്കു എഴുതിയിരിക്കുന്നതു.

21. I haue not written vnto you, because ye knowe not the trueth: but because ye knowe it, and that no lie is of the trueth.

22. യേശുവിനെ ക്രിസ്തുവല്ല എന്നു നിഷേധിക്കുന്നവന് അല്ലാതെ കള്ളന് ആര് ആകുന്നു? പിതാവിനെയും പുത്രനെയും നിഷേധിക്കുന്നവന് തന്നേ എതിര്ക്രിസ്തു ആകുന്നു.

22. Who is a liar, but he that denyeth that Iesus is that Christ? the same is that Antichrist that denyeth the Father and the Sonne.

23. പുത്രനെ നിഷേധിക്കുന്നവന്നു പിതാവുമില്ല; പുത്രനെ സ്വീകരിക്കുന്നവനു പിതാവും ഉണ്ടു.

23. Whosoeuer denyeth the Sonne, the same hath not the Father.

24. നിങ്ങള് ആദിമുതല് കേട്ടതു നിങ്ങളില് വസിക്കട്ടെ. ആദിമുതല് കേട്ടതു നിങ്ങളില് വസിക്കുന്നു എങ്കില് നിങ്ങള് പുത്രനിലും പിതാവിലും വസിക്കും.

24. Let therefore abide in you that same which ye haue heard from the beginning. If that which ye haue heard from the beginning, shall remaine in you, ye also shall continue in the Sonne, and in the Father.

25. ഇതാകുന്നു അവന് നമുക്കു തന്ന വാഗ്ദത്തംനിത്യജീവന് തന്നേ.

25. And this is the promise that he hath promised vs, euen that eternall life.

26. നിങ്ങളെ തെറ്റിക്കുന്നവരെ ഔര്ത്തു ഞാന് ഇതു നിങ്ങള്ക്കു എഴുതിയിരിക്കുന്നു.

26. These things haue I written vnto you, concerning them that deceiue you.

27. അവനാല് പ്രാപിച്ച അഭിഷേകം നിങ്ങളില് വസിക്കുന്നു; ആരും നിങ്ങളെ ഉപദേശിപ്പാന് ആവശ്യമില്ല; അവന്റെ അഭിഷേകം തന്നേ നിങ്ങള്ക്കു സകലവും ഉപദേശിച്ചുതരികയാലും അതു ഭോഷ്കല്ല സത്യം തന്നേ ആയിരിക്കയാലും അതു നിങ്ങളെ ഉപദേശിച്ചതുപോലെ നിങ്ങള് അവനില് വസിപ്പിന് .

27. But that anointing which ye receiued of him, dwelleth in you: and ye neede not that any man teach you: but as the same Anoynting teacheth you of all things, and it is true, and is not lying, and as it taught you, ye shall abide in him.

28. ഇനിയും കുഞ്ഞുങ്ങളേ, അവന് പ്രത്യക്ഷനാകുമ്പോള് നാം അവന്റെ സന്നിധിയില് ലജ്ജിച്ചുപോകാതെ അവന്റെ പ്രത്യക്ഷതയില് നമുക്കു ധൈര്യ്യം ഉണ്ടാകേണ്ടതിന്നു അവനില് വസിപ്പിന് .

28. And nowe, litle children, abide in him, that when he shall appeare, we may be bolde, and not be ashamed before him at his comming.

29. അവന് നീതിമാന് എന്നു നിങ്ങള് ഗ്രഹിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു എങ്കില് നീതി ചെയ്യുന്നവന് ഒക്കെയും അവനില്നിന്നു ജനിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു നിങ്ങള് അറിയുന്നു.

29. If ye know that he is righteous, know ye that he which doeth righteously, is borne of him.
