1. അനന്തരം ശിംശോന് തിമ്നയിലേക്കു ചെന്നു തിമ്നയില് ഒരു ഫെലിസ്ത്യകന്യകയെ കണ്ടു.

1. SAMSON WENT down to Timnah and at Timnah saw one of the daughters of the Philistines.

2. അവന് വന്നു തന്റെ അപ്പനെയും അമ്മയെയും അറിയിച്ചുഞാന് തിമ്നയില് ഒരു ഫെലിസ്ത്യകന്യകയെ കണ്ടിരിക്കുന്നു; അവളെ എനിക്കു ഭാര്യയായിട്ടു എടുക്കേണം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

2. And he came up and told his father and mother, I saw one of the daughters of the Philistines at Timnah; now get her for me as my wife.

3. അവന്റെ അപ്പനും അമ്മയും അവനോടുഅഗ്രചര്മ്മികളായ ഫെലിസ്ത്യരില്നിന്നു നീ ഒരു ഭാര്യയെ എടുപ്പാന് പോകേണ്ടതിന്നു നിന്റെ സഹോദരന്മാരുടെ കന്യകമാരിലും നമ്മുടെ സകലജനത്തിലും യാതൊരുത്തിയും ഇല്ലയോ എന്നു ചോദിച്ചതിന്നു ശിംശോന് തന്റെ അപ്പനോടുഅവളെ എനിക്കു എടുക്കേണം; അവളെ എനിക്കു ബോധിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

3. But his father and mother said to him, Is there not a woman among the daughters of your kinsmen or among all our people, that you must go to take a wife from the uncircumcised Philistines? And Samson said to his father, Get her for me, for she is all right in my eyes.

4. ഇതു യഹോവയാല് ഉണ്ടായതു എന്നു അവന്റെ അപ്പനും അമ്മയും അറിഞ്ഞില്ല; അവന് ഫെലിസ്ത്യരുടെ നേരെ അവസരം അന്വേഷിക്കയായിരുന്നു. ആ കാലത്തു ഫെലിസ്ത്യരായിരുന്നു യിസ്രായേലിനെ വാണിരുന്നതു.

4. His father and mother did not know that it was of the Lord, and that He sought an occasion for assailing the Philistines. At that time the Philistines had dominion over Israel.

5. അങ്ങനെ ശിംശോനും അവന്റെ അപ്പനും അമ്മയും തിമ്നയിലേക്കു പോയി തിമ്നെക്കരികെയുള്ള മുന്തിരിത്തോട്ടങ്ങളില് എത്തിയപ്പോള് ഒരു ബാലസിംഹം അവന്റെ നേരെ അലറിവന്നു.

5. Then Samson and his father and mother went down to Timnah and came to the vineyards of Timnah. And behold, a young lion roared against him.

6. അപ്പോള് യഹോവയുടെ ആത്മാവു അവന്റെമേല് വന്നു; കയ്യില് ഒന്നും ഇല്ലാതിരിക്കെ അവന് അതിനെ ഒരു ആട്ടിന് കുട്ടിയെപ്പോലെ കീറിക്കളഞ്ഞു; താന് ചെയ്തതു അപ്പനോടും അമ്മയോടും പറഞ്ഞില്ല.

6. And the Spirit of the Lord came mightily upon him, and he tore the lion as he would have torn a kid, and he had nothing in his hand; but he did not tell his father or mother what he had done.

7. പിന്നെ അവന് ചെന്നു ആ സ്ത്രീയോടു സംസാരിച്ചു; അവളെ ശീംശോന്നു ബോധിച്ചു.

7. And he went down and talked with the woman, and she pleased Samson well.

8. കുറെക്കാലം കഴിഞ്ഞശേഹം അവന് അവളെ വിവാഹം കഴിപ്പാന് തിരികെ പോകയില് സിംഹത്തിന്റെ ഉടല് നോക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു മാറിച്ചെന്നു; സിംഹത്തിന്റെ ഉടലിന്നകത്തു ഒരു തേനീച്ചക്കൂട്ടവും തേനും കണ്ടു.

8. And after a while he returned to take her, and he turned aside to see the body of the lion, and behold, a swarm of bees and honey were in the body of the lion.

9. അതു അവന് കയ്യില് എടുത്തു തിന്നുംകൊണ്ടു നടന്നു, അപ്പന്റെയും അമ്മയുടെയും അടുക്കല് ചെന്നു അവര്ക്കും കൊടുത്തു അവരും തിന്നു; എന്നാല് തേന് ഒരു സിംഹത്തിന്റെ ഉടലില്നിന്നു എടുത്തു എന്നു അവന് അവരോടു പറഞ്ഞില്ല.

9. And he scraped some of the honey out into his hands and went along eating. And he came to his father and mother and gave them some, and they ate it; but he did not tell them he had taken the honey from the body of the lion.

10. അങ്ങനെ അവന്റെ അപ്പന് ആ സ്ത്രീയുടെ വീട്ടില് ചെന്നു; ശിംശോന് അവിടെ ഒരു വിരുന്നുകഴിച്ചു; യൌവനക്കാര് അങ്ങനെ ചെയ്ക പതിവായിരുന്നു.

10. His father went down to the woman, and Samson made a feast there, for that was the customary thing for young men to do.

11. അവര് അവനെ കണ്ടപ്പോള് അവനോടുകൂടെ ഇരിപ്പാന് മുപ്പതു തോഴന്മാരെ കൊണ്ടുവന്നു.

11. And when the people saw him, they brought thirty companions to be with him.

12. ശിംശോന് അവരോടുഞാന് നിങ്ങളോടു ഒരു കടം പറയാം; വിരുന്നിന്റെ ഏഴു ദിവസത്തിന്നകം നിങ്ങള് അതു വീട്ടിയാല് ഞാന് നിങ്ങള്ക്കു മുപ്പതു ഉള്ളങ്കിയും മുപ്പതു വിശേഷവസ്ത്രവും തരാം.

12. And Samson said to them, I will now put forth a riddle to you; if you can tell me what it is within the seven days of the feast, and find it out, then I will give you thirty linen undergarments and thirty changes of raiment.

13. വീട്ടുവാന് നിങ്ങള്ക്കു കഴിഞ്ഞില്ലെങ്കിലോ നിങ്ങള് എനിക്കു മുപ്പതു ഉള്ളങ്കിയും മുപ്പതു വിശേഷവസ്ത്രവും തരേണം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അവര് അവനോടുനിന്റെ കടം പറക; ഞങ്ങള് കേള്ക്കട്ടെ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

13. But if you cannot declare it to me, then shall you give me thirty linen undergarments and thirty changes of festive [costly] raiment. And they said to him, Put forth your riddle, that we may hear it.

14. അവന് അവരോടു ഭോക്താവില്നിന്നു ഭോജനവും മല്ലനില്നിന്നു മധുരവും പുറപ്പെട്ടു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. എന്നാല് കടം വീട്ടുവാന് മൂന്നു ദിവസത്തോളം അവര്ക്കും കഴിഞ്ഞില്ല.

14. And he said to them, Out of the eater came forth food, and out of the strong came forth sweetness. And they could not solve the riddle in three days.

15. ഏഴാം ദിവസത്തിലോ അവര് ശിംശോന്റെ ഭാര്യയോടുഞങ്ങള്ക്കു പറഞ്ഞുതരുവാന് തക്കവണ്ണം നിന്റെ ഭര്ത്താവിനെ വശീകരിക്ക; അല്ലെങ്കില് ഞങ്ങള് നിന്നെയും നിന്റെ പിതൃഭവനത്തെയും തീവെച്ചു ചുട്ടുകളയും; ഞങ്ങളുടെ വസ്തു കരസ്ഥമാക്കേണ്ടതിന്നോ നിങ്ങള് ഞങ്ങളെ വിളിച്ചതു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

15. And on the seventh day they said to Samson's wife, Entice your husband to declare to us the riddle, lest we burn you and your father's household with fire. Have you invited us to make us poor? Is this not true?

16. ശിംശോന്റെ ഭാര്യ അവന്റെ മുമ്പില് കരഞ്ഞുനീ എന്നെ സ്നേഹിക്കുന്നില്ല, എന്നെ ദ്വേഷിക്കുന്നു; എന്റെ അസ്മാദികളോടു ഒരു കടം പറഞ്ഞിട്ടു എനിക്കു അതു പറഞ്ഞുതന്നില്ലല്ലോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അവന് അവളോടുഎന്റെ അപ്പന്നും അമ്മെക്കും ഞാന് അതു പറഞ്ഞുകൊടുത്തിട്ടില്ല; പിന്നെ നിനക്കു പറഞ്ഞുതരുമോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

16. And Samson's wife wept before him and said, You only hate me, you do not love me; you have put forth a riddle to my countrymen and have not told the answer to me. And he said to her, Behold, I have not told my father or my mother, and shall I tell you?

17. വിരുന്നിന്റെ ഏഴു ദിവസവും അവള് അവന്റെ മുമ്പില് കരഞ്ഞുകൊണ്ടിരുന്നു; ഏഴാം ദിവസം അവള് അവനെ അസഹ്യപ്പെടുത്തുകകൊണ്ടു അവന് പറഞ്ഞുകൊടുത്തു; അവള് തന്റെ അസ്മാദികള്ക്കും കടം പറഞ്ഞുകൊടുത്തു.

17. And Samson's wife wept before him the seven days their feast lasted, and on the seventh day he told her because she pressed him with entreaties. Then she told the riddle to her countrymen.

18. ഏഴാം ദിവസം സൂര്യന് അസ്തമിക്കുംമുമ്പെ പട്ടണക്കാര് അവനോടുതേനിനെക്കാള് മധുരമുള്ളതു എന്തു? സിംഹത്തെക്കാള് ബലമുള്ളതു എന്തു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അതിന്നു അവന് അവരോടുനിങ്ങള് എന്റെ പശുക്കിടാവിനെ പൂട്ടി ഉഴുതില്ലെങ്കില് എന്റെ കടം വീട്ടുകയില്ലായിരുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

18. And the men of the city said to [Samson] on the seventh day before sundown, What is sweeter than honey? What is stronger than a lion? And he said to them, If you had not plowed with my heifer, you would not have solved my riddle.

19. പിന്നെ, യഹോവയുടെ ആത്മാവു അവന്റെ മേല് വന്നു; അവന് അസ്കലോനിലേക്കു ചെന്നു മുപ്പതുപേരെ കൊന്നു അവരുടെ ഉടുപ്പൂരി കടംവീട്ടിയവര്ക്കും വസ്ത്രംകൊടുത്തു അവന്റെ കോപം ജ്വലിച്ചു; അവന് തന്റെ അപ്പന്റെ വീട്ടില് പോയി.

19. And the Spirit of the Lord came upon him, and he went down to Ashkelon and slew thirty men of them and took their apparel [as spoil], and gave the changes of garments to those who explained the riddle. And his anger was kindled, and he went up to his father's house.

20. ശിംശോന്റെ ഭാര്യ അവന്റെ കൂട്ടുകാരനായിരുന്ന തോഴന്നു ഭാര്യയായിയ്തീര്ന്നു.

20. But Samson's wife was [given] to his companion who was his [best] friend.
