1. അനന്തരം ശമൂവേല് എല്ലായിസ്രായേലിനോടും പറഞ്ഞതെന്തെന്നാല്നിങ്ങള് എന്നോടു പറഞ്ഞതില് ഒക്കെയും ഞാന് നിങ്ങളുടെ അപേക്ഷ കേട്ടു, നിങ്ങള്ക്കു ഒരു രാജാവിനെയും വാഴിച്ചുതന്നു.

1. And Samuel said to all Israel, Behold, I have hearkened to your voice in all that ye said to me, and have made a king over you.

2. ഇപ്പോള് രാജാവു നിങ്ങളുടെ നായകനായിരിക്കുന്നു; ഞാനോ വൃദ്ധനും നരച്ചവനുമായി; എന്റെ മക്കള് നിങ്ങളോടുകൂടെ ഉണ്ടു; എന്റെ ബാല്യം മുതല് ഇന്നുവരെയും ഞാന് നിങ്ങള്ക്കു നായകനായിരുന്നു.

2. And now behold, the king walks before you; and I am old and grey-headed; and behold, my sons are with you; and I have walked before you from my youth up to this day.

3. ഞാന് ഇതാ, ഇവിടെ നിലക്കുന്നുഞാന് ഒരുത്തന്റെ കാളയെ അപഹരിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ടോ? ഒരുത്തന്റെ കഴുതയെ അപഹരിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ടോ? ഞാന് വല്ലവനെയും ചതിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ടോ? വല്ലവനെയും പീഡിപ്പിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ടോ? ഞാന് വല്ലവന്റെയും കയ്യില്നിന്നു കൈക്കൂലി വാങ്ങി എന്റെ കണ്ണു കുരുടാക്കീട്ടുണ്ടോ? യഹോവയുടെയും അവന്റെ അഭിഷിക്തന്റെയും മുമ്പാകെ എന്റെ നേരെ സാക്ഷീകരിപ്പിന് ; ഞാന് അതു മടക്കിത്തരാം.

3. Here I am: testify against me before Jehovah, and before his anointed. Whose ox have I taken? or whose ass have I taken? or whom have I defrauded? whom have I injured? or of whose hand have I received any ransom and blinded mine eyes therewith? and I will restore it to you.

4. അതിന്നു അവര്നീ ഞങ്ങളെ ചതിക്കയോ പീഡിപ്പിക്കയോ യാതൊരുത്തന്റെയും കയ്യില്നിന്നു വല്ലതും അപഹരിക്കയോ ചെയ്തിട്ടില്ല എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

4. And they said, Thou hast not defrauded us, and thou hast not injured us, neither hast thou taken aught of any man's hand.

5. അവന് പിന്നെയും അവരോടുനിങ്ങള് എന്റെ പേരില് ഒന്നും കണ്ടില്ല എന്നുള്ളതിന്നു യഹോവ സാക്ഷി; അവന്റെ അഭിഷിക്തനും ഇന്നു സാക്ഷി എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

5. And he said to them, Jehovah is witness against you, and his anointed is witness this day, that ye have not found aught in my hand! And [the people] said, [He is] witness!

6. അപ്പോള് ശമൂവേല് ജനത്തോടു പറഞ്ഞതെന്തെന്നാല്മോശെയെയും അഹരോനെയും കല്പിച്ചാക്കുകയും നിങ്ങളുടെ പിതാക്കന്മാരെ മിസ്രയീംദേശത്തുനിന്നു കൊണ്ടുവരികയും ചെയ്തവന് യഹോവ തന്നേ.

6. And Samuel said to the people, [It is] Jehovah who appointed Moses and Aaron, and who brought your fathers up out of the land of Egypt.

7. ആകയാല് ഇപ്പോള് ഒത്തുനില്പിന് ; യഹോവ നിങ്ങള്ക്കും നിങ്ങളുടെ പിതാക്കന്മാര്ക്കും ചെയ്തിട്ടുള്ള സകലനീതികളെയും കുറിച്ചു ഞാന് യഹോവയുടെ മുമ്പാകെ നിങ്ങളോടു വ്യവഹരിക്കും.

7. And now stand still, that I may plead with you before Jehovah of all the righteous acts of Jehovah which he did to you and to your fathers.

8. യാക്കോബ് മിസ്രയീമില്ചെന്നു പാര്ത്തു; അവിടെവെച്ചു നിങ്ങളുടെ പിതാക്കന്മാര് യഹോവയോടു നിലവിളിച്ചപ്പോള് യഹോവ മോശെയെയും അഹരോനെയും അയച്ചു; അവര് നിങ്ങളുടെ പിതാക്കന്മാരെ മിസ്രയീമില്നിന്നു കൊണ്ടുവന്നു ഈ സ്ഥലത്തു പാര്ക്കുംമാറാക്കി.

8. When Jacob had come into Egypt, and your fathers cried to Jehovah, then Jehovah sent Moses and Aaron, and they brought your fathers forth out of Egypt, and made them dwell in this place.

9. എന്നാല് അവര് തങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയെ മറന്നപ്പോള് അവന് അവരെ ഹാസോരിലെ സേനാപതിയായ സീസെരയുടെ കയ്യിലും ഫെലിസ്ത്യരുടെ കയ്യിലും മോവാബ്രാജാവിന്റെ കയ്യിലും ഏല്പിച്ചു, അവര് അവരോടു യുദ്ധം ചെയ്തു.

9. And they forgot Jehovah their God, and he sold them into the hand of Sisera, captain of the host of Hazor, and into the hand of the Philistines, and into the hand of the king of Moab, and they fought against them.

10. അപ്പോള് അവര് യഹോവയോടു നിലവിളിച്ചുഞങ്ങള് യഹോവയെ ഉപേക്ഷിച്ചു ബാല്വിഗ്രഹങ്ങളെയും അസ്തോരെത്ത് പ്രതിഷ്ഠകളെയും സേവിച്ചു പാപം ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നു; ഇപ്പോള് ഞങ്ങളെ ശത്രുക്കളുടെ കയ്യില്നിന്നു രക്ഷിക്കേണമേ; എന്നാല് ഞങ്ങള് നിന്നെ സേവിക്കും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

10. And they cried to Jehovah and said, We have sinned, because we have forsaken Jehovah, and have served the Baals and the Ashtoreths; and now deliver us out of the hand of our enemies, and we will serve thee.

11. എന്നാറെ യഹോവ യെരുബ്ബാല്, ബെദാന് , യിഫ്താഹ്, ശമൂവേല് എന്നിവരെ അയച്ചു ചുറ്റുമുള്ള ശത്രുക്കളുടെ കയ്യില്നിന്നു നിങ്ങളെ വിടുവിച്ചു; നിങ്ങള് നിര്ഭയമായി വസിച്ചു.

11. And Jehovah sent Jerubbaal and Bedan and Jephthah and Samuel, and delivered you out of the hand of your enemies round about, so that ye dwelt in safety.

12. പിന്നെ അമ്മോന്യരുടെ രാജാവായ നാഹാശ് നിങ്ങളുടെ നേരെ വരുന്നതു നിങ്ങള് കണ്ടപ്പോള് നിങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ നിങ്ങള്ക്കു രാജാവായിരിക്കെ നിങ്ങള് എന്നോടുഒരു രാജാവു ഞങ്ങളുടെമേല് വാഴേണം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

12. But when ye saw that Nahash the king of the children of Ammon came against you, ye said to me, Nay, but a king shall reign over us; when Jehovah your God was your king.

13. ഇപ്പോള് ഇതാ, നിങ്ങള് തിരഞ്ഞെടുത്തവനും ആഗ്രഹിച്ചവനുമായ രാജാവു; യഹോവ നിങ്ങള്ക്കു ഒരു രാജാവിനെ കല്പിച്ചാക്കിയിരിക്കുന്നു.

13. And now behold, the king whom ye have chosen, whom ye have asked for! and behold, Jehovah has set a king over you.

14. നിങ്ങള് യഹോവയുടെ കല്പനയെ മറുക്കാതെ യഹോവയെ ഭയപ്പെട്ടു അവനെ സേവിച്ചു അവന്റെ വാക്കു അനുസരിക്കയും നിങ്ങളും നിങ്ങളെ വാഴുന്ന രാജാവും നിങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയോടു ചേര്ന്നിരിക്കയും ചെയ്താല് കൊള്ളാം.

14. If ye fear Jehovah, and serve him, and hearken to his voice, and rebel not against the commandment of Jehovah, then both ye and the king also that reigns over you shall continue following Jehovah your God.

15. എന്നാല് നിങ്ങള് യഹോവയുടെ വാക്കു അനുസരിക്കാതെ യഹോവയുടെ കല്പനയെ മറുത്താല് യഹോവയുടെ കൈ നിങ്ങളുടെ പിതാക്കന്മാര്ക്കും വിരോധമായിരുന്നതുപോലെ നിങ്ങള്ക്കും വിരോധമായിരിക്കും.

15. But if ye will not hearken to the voice of Jehovah, and if ye rebel against the commandment of Jehovah, then will the hand of Jehovah be against you, as against your fathers.

16. ആകയാല് ഇപ്പോള് നിന്നു യഹോവ നിങ്ങള് കാണ്കെ ചെയ്വാന് പോകുന്ന ഈ വലിയ കാര്യം കണ്ടുകൊള്വിന് .

16. Now therefore stand and see this great thing which Jehovah will do before your eyes.

17. ഇതു കോതമ്പുകൊയ്ത്തിന്റെ കാലമല്ലോ; ഞാന് യഹോവയോടു അപേക്ഷിക്കും; അവന് ഇടിയും മഴയും അയക്കും; നിങ്ങള് ഒരു രാജാവിനെ ചോദിക്കയാല് യഹോവയോടു ചെയ്ത ദോഷം എത്ര വലിയതെന്നു നിങ്ങള് അതിനാല് കണ്ടറിയും.

17. Is it not wheat-harvest to-day? I will call unto Jehovah, and he will send thunder and rain; and ye shall perceive and see that your wickedness is great which ye have done in the sight of Jehovah in asking for yourselves a king.

18. അങ്ങനെ ശമൂവേല് യഹോവയോടു അപേക്ഷിച്ചു; യഹോവ അന്നു ഇടിയും മഴയും അയച്ചു; ജനമെല്ലാം യഹോവയെയും ശമൂവേലിനെയും ഏറ്റവും ഭയപ്പെട്ടു.

18. And Samuel called to Jehovah; and Jehovah sent thunder and rain that day. And all the people greatly feared Jehovah and Samuel.

19. ജനമെല്ലാം ശമൂവേലിനോടുഅടിയങ്ങള്ക്കു വേണ്ടി നിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയോടു പ്രാര്ത്ഥിക്കേണമേ; ഞങ്ങള് മരിച്ചുപോകരുതേ; ഒരു രാജാവിനെ അപേക്ഷിച്ചതില് ഞങ്ങളുടെ സകലപാപങ്ങളോടും ഞങ്ങള് ഈ ഒരു ദോഷവും കൂട്ടിയിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

19. And all the people said to Samuel, Pray to Jehovah thy God for thy servants, that we die not; for we have added to all our sins the wickedness to ask for ourselves a king.

20. ശമൂവേല് ജനത്തോടു പറഞ്ഞതുഭയപ്പെടായ്വിന് ; നിങ്ങള് ഈ ദോഷമൊക്കെയും ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നു; എങ്കിലും യഹോവയെ വിട്ടുമാറാതെ പൂര്ണ്ണഹൃദയത്തോടെ യഹോവയെ സേവിപ്പിന് .

20. And Samuel said to the people, Fear not: *ye* have done all this wickedness; yet turn not aside from following Jehovah, and serve Jehovah with all your heart;

21. വിട്ടുമാറി, ഉപകാരമില്ലാത്തവയും രക്ഷിപ്പാന് കഴിയാത്തവയുമായ മിത്ഥ്യാമൂര്ത്തികളോടു നിങ്ങള് ചേരരുതു; അവ മിത്ഥ്യാവസ്തു തന്നേയല്ലോ.

21. and turn ye not aside; for [it would be] after vain things which cannot profit nor deliver; for they are vain.

22. യഹോവ തന്റെ മഹത്തായ നാമംനിമിത്തം തന്റെ ജനത്തെ കൈവിടുകയില്ല; നിങ്ങളെ തന്റെ ജനമാക്കിക്കൊള്വാന് യഹോവേക്കു ഇഷ്ടം തോന്നിയിരിക്കുന്നു.
റോമർ 11:1-2

22. For Jehovah will not cast away his people for his great name's sake; because it has pleased Jehovah to make you his people.

23. ഞാനോ നിങ്ങള്ക്കുവേണ്ടി പ്രാര്ത്ഥിക്കാതിരിക്കുന്നതിനാല് യഹോവയോടു പാപം ചെയ്വാന് ഇടവരരുതേ; ഞാന് നിങ്ങള്ക്കു നല്ലതും ചൊവ്വുള്ളതുമായ വഴി ഉപദേശിക്കും.

23. Moreover, as for me, far be it from me that I should sin against Jehovah in ceasing to pray for you; and I will teach you the good and right way.

24. യഹോവയെ ഭയപ്പെട്ടു പൂര്ണ്ണഹൃദയത്തോടും പരമാര്ത്ഥതയോടുംകൂടെ സേവിക്കമാത്രം ചെയ്വിന് ; അവന് നിങ്ങള്ക്കു എത്ര വലിയ കാര്യം ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു ഔര്ത്തുകൊള്വിന് .

24. Only, fear Jehovah, and serve him in truth, with all your heart; for see how great things he has done for you.

25. എന്നാല് നിങ്ങള് ഇനിയും ദോഷം ചെയ്താല് നിങ്ങളും നിങ്ങളുടെ രാജാവും നശിച്ചുപോകും.

25. But if ye do wickedly, ye shall perish, both ye and your king.
