1. Now it came to pass upon a day that Jonathan, the son of Saul, said unto the young man that bore his armour, Come and let us go over to the Philistines' garrison that [is] on the other side. But he did not tell his father.

2. And Saul tarried in the uttermost part of Gibeah under a pomegranate tree which [is] in Migron, and the people that [were] with him [were] about six hundred men;

3. and Ahiah, the son of Ahitub, Ichabod's brother, the son of Phinehas, the son of Eli, the LORD'S priest in Shiloh, was wearing the ephod. And the people did not know that Jonathan was gone.

4. യോനാഥാന് ഫെലിസ്ത്യരുടെ പട്ടാളത്തിന്റെ നേരെ ചെല്ലുവാന് നോക്കിയ വഴിയില് ഇപ്പുറവും അപ്പുറവും കടുന്തൂക്കമായ ഔരോ പാറ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു; ഒന്നിന്നു ബോസേസ് എന്നും മറ്റേതിന്നു സേനെ എന്നും പേര്.

4. And between the passages by which Jonathan sought to go over unto the Philistines' garrison, [there was] a sharp rock on the one side and a sharp rock on the other side; and the name of the one [was] Bozez and the name of the other Seneh.

5. ഒന്നു വടക്കുവശം മിക്മാസിന്നു മുഖമായും മറ്റേതു തെക്കുവശം ഗിബെയെക്കു മുഖമായും തൂക്കെ നിന്നിരുന്നു.

5. The forefront of the one [was] situated northward over against Michmash and the other towards the Negev over against Gibeah.

6. യോനാഥാന് തന്റെ ആയുധവാഹകനായ ബാല്യക്കാരനോടുവരിക, നമുക്കു ഈ അഗ്രചര്മ്മികളുടെ പട്ടാളത്തിന്റെ നേരെ ചെല്ലാം; പക്ഷെ യഹോവ നമുക്കുവേണ്ടി പ്രവര്ത്തിക്കും; അധികംകൊണ്ടോ അല്പംകൊണ്ടോ രക്ഷിപ്പാന് യഹോവേക്കു പ്രായസമില്ലല്ലോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

6. And Jonathan said to the young man that bore his armour, Come and let us go over unto the garrison of these uncircumcised; peradventure the LORD will work for us, for it is not difficult for the LORD to save by many or by few.

7. ആയുധവാഹകന് അവനോടുനിന്റെ മനസ്സുപോലെ ഒക്കെയും ചെയ്ക; നടന്നുകൊള്ക; നിന്റെ ഇഷ്ടംപോലെ ഞാന് നിന്നോടുകൂടെ ഉണ്ടു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

7. And his armourbearer said unto him, Do all that [is] in thy heart; go. Behold, I [am] with thee according to thy will.

8. അതിന്നു യോനാഥാന് പറഞ്ഞതുനാം അവരുടെ നേരെ ചെന്നു അവര്ക്കും നമ്മെത്തന്നെ കാണിക്കാം;

8. Then Jonathan said, Behold, we will go over unto [these] men, and we will show ourselves unto them.

9. ഞങ്ങള് നിങ്ങളുടെ അടുക്കല് വരുവോളം നില്പിന് എന്നു അവര് പറഞ്ഞാല് നാം അവരുടെ അടുക്കല് കയറിപ്പോകാതെ നിന്നേടത്തുതന്നേ നില്ക്കേണം.

9. If they say thus unto us, Tarry until we come to you, then we will stand still in our place and will not go up unto them.

10. ഇങ്ങോട്ടു കയറിവരുവിന് എന്നു പറഞ്ഞാലോ നമുക്കു കയറിച്ചെല്ലാം; യഹോവ അവരെ നമ്മുടെ കയ്യില് ഏല്പിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നതിന്നു ഇതു നമുക്കു അടയാളം ആയിരിക്കും.

10. But if they say thus, Come up unto us, then we will go up, for the LORD has delivered them into our hand, and this [shall be] a sign unto us.

11. ഇങ്ങനെ അവര് ഇരുവരും ഫെലിസ്ത്യരുടെ പട്ടാളത്തിന്നു തങ്ങളെത്തന്നേ കാണിച്ചപ്പോള്ഇതാ, എബ്രായര് ഒളിച്ചിരുന്ന പൊത്തുകളില്നിന്നു പുറപ്പെട്ടു വരുന്നു എന്നു ഫെലിസ്ത്യര് പറഞ്ഞു.

11. And both of them showed themselves unto the garrison of the Philistines; and the Philistines said, Behold, the Hebrews come forth out of the holes where they had hid themselves.

12. പട്ടാളക്കാര് യോനാഥാനോടും അവന്റെ ആയുധവാഹകനോടുംഇങ്ങോട്ടു കയറിവരുവിന് ; ഞങ്ങള് ഒന്നു കാണിച്ചുതരാം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അപ്പോള് യോനാഥാന് തന്റെ ആയുധവാഹകനോടുഎന്റെ പിന്നാലെ കയറിവരിക; യഹോവ അവരെ യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ കയ്യില് ഏല്പിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

12. And the men of the garrison answered Jonathan and his armourbearer and said, Come up to us, and we will show you a thing. Then Jonathan said unto his armourbearer, Come up after me, for the LORD has delivered them into the hand of Israel.

13. അങ്ങനെ യോനാഥാനും അവന്റെ പിന്നാലെ ആയുധവാഹകനും തത്തിപ്പിടിച്ചു കയറി; അവര് യോനാഥന്റെ മുമ്പില് വീണു; ആയുധവാഹകന് അവന്റെ പിന്നാലെ കൊന്നുംകൊണ്ടു നടന്നു.

13. And Jonathan climbed up upon his hands and upon his feet and his armourbearer after him; and they fell before Jonathan, and his armourbearer slew after him.

14. യോനാഥാനും ആയുധവാഹകനും ചെയ്ത ഈ ആദ്യസംഹാരത്തില് ഒരു കാണിനിലത്തിന്റെ പാതി നീളത്തിന്നകം ഇരുപതുപേര് വീണു.

14. And that first slaughter which Jonathan and his armourbearer made was about twenty men within as it were a half acre of land, [which] a yoke [of oxen might plow].

15. പാളയത്തിലും പോര്ക്കളത്തിലും സര്വ്വജനത്തിലും നടുക്കമുണ്ടായി പട്ടാളവും കവര്ച്ചക്കാരും കൂടെ വിറച്ചു, ഭൂമി കുലുങ്ങി, വലിയോരു നടുക്കം ഉണ്ടായി.

15. And there was trembling in the host, in the field, and among all the people of the garrison; and those who had gone out to destroy the land, they also trembled, and the earth quaked, and there was fear of God.

16. അപ്പോള് ബെന്യാമീനിലെ ഗിബെയയില്നിന്നു ശൌലിന്റെ കാവല്ക്കാര് നോക്കി പുരുഷാരം ചിന്നി അങ്ങുമിങ്ങും ഔടുന്നതു കണ്ടു.

16. And the watchmen of Saul in Gibeah of Benjamin looked, and, behold, the multitude melted away, and they went on beating down [one another].

17. ശൌല് കൂടെയുള്ള ജനത്തോടുഎണ്ണിനോക്കി നമ്മില്നിന്നു പോയവര് ആരെന്നറിവിന് എന്നു കല്പിച്ചു. അവര് എണ്ണിനോക്കിയപ്പോള് യോനാഥാനും അവന്റെ ആയുധവാഹകനും ഇല്ലായിരുന്നു.

17. Then Saul said unto the people that [were] with him, Number now and see who is gone from us. And when they had numbered, behold, Jonathan and his armourbearer [were] not [there].

18. ശൌല് അഹീയാവിനോടുദൈവത്തിന്റെ പെട്ടകം ഇവിടെ കൊണ്ടുവരിക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. ദൈവത്തിന്റെ പെട്ടകം ആ കാലത്തു യിസ്രായേല്മക്കളുടെ അടുക്കല് ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു.

18. And Saul said unto Ahiah, Bring the ark of God. For the ark of God was at that time with the sons of Israel.

19. ശൌല് പുരോഹിതനോടു സംസാരിച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരിക്കുമ്പോള് ഫെലിസ്ത്യരുടെ പാളയത്തിലെ കലാപം മേലക്കുമേല് വര്ദ്ധിച്ചുവന്നു. അപ്പോള് ശൌല് പുരോഹിതനോടുനിന്റെ കൈ വലിക്ക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

19. And it came to pass while Saul talked unto the priest, that the noise that [was] in the host of the Philistines went on and increased. Then Saul said unto the priest, Withdraw thy hand.

20. ശൌലും കൂടെയുള്ള ജനമൊക്കെയും ഒന്നിച്ചുകൂടി പടെക്കു ചെന്നു, അവിടെ അവര് അന്യോന്യം വെട്ടി വലിയ കലക്കമായിരിക്കുന്നതു കണ്ടു.

20. And Saul and all the people that [were] with him assembled themselves, and they came to the battle; and, behold, each man's sword was against his fellow, [and there was] a very great discomfiture.

22. അങ്ങനെ തന്നേ എഫ്രയീംമലനാട്ടില് ഒളിച്ചിരുന്ന യിസ്രായേല്യര് ഒക്കെയും ഫെലിസ്ത്യര് തോറ്റോടി എന്നു കേട്ടയുടനെ അവരും പടയില് ചേര്ന്നു അവരെ പിന്തുടര്ന്നു.

22. Likewise all the men of Israel who had hid themselves in Mount Ephraim, [when] they heard that the Philistines fled, they also followed hard after them in the battle.

23. അങ്ങനെ യഹോവ അന്നു യിസ്രായേലിനെ രക്ഷിച്ചു; പട ബേത്ത്-ആവെന് വരെ പരന്നു.

23. So the LORD saved Israel that day; and the battle passed over unto Bethaven.

24. സന്ധ്യെക്കു മുമ്പും ഞാന് എന്റെ ശത്രുക്കളോടു പ്രതികാരം ചെയ്യുവോളവും ആഹാരം കഴിക്കുന്നവന് ശപിക്കപ്പെട്ടവന് എന്നു ശൌല് പറഞ്ഞു ജനത്തെക്കൊണ്ടു സത്യം ചെയ്യിച്ചിരുന്നതിനാല് യിസ്രായേല്യര് അന്നു വിഷമത്തിലായി; ജനത്തില് ഒരുത്തനും ആഹാരം ആസ്വദിച്ചതുമില്ല.

24. But the men of Israel were distressed that day, for Saul had adjured the people, saying, Cursed [be] the man that eats [any] food until evening that I may be avenged on my enemies. So none of the people tasted [any] food.

25. ജനമൊക്കെയും ഒരു കാട്ടുപ്രദേശത്തു എത്തി; അവിടെ നിലത്തു തേന് ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു.

25. And [the army] of all the land came to a wood, and there was honey upon the ground.

26. ജനം കാട്ടില് കടന്നപ്പോള് തേന് ഇറ്റിറ്റു വീഴുന്നതു കണ്ടുഎങ്കിലും സത്യത്തെ ഭയപ്പെട്ടു ആരും തന്റെ കൈ വായിലേക്കു കൊണ്ടുപോയില്ല.

26. And when the people were come into the wood, behold, the honey dropped, but no man put his hand to his mouth, for the people feared the oath.

27. യോനാഥാനോ തന്റെ അപ്പന് ജനത്തെക്കൊണ്ടു സത്യം ചെയ്യിച്ചതു കേള്ക്കാതിരുന്നതിനാല് വടിയുടെ അറ്റം നീട്ടി ഒരു തേന് കട്ടയില് കുത്തി അതു എടുത്തു തന്റെ കൈ വായിലേക്കു കൊണ്ടുപോയി, അവന്റെ കണ്ണു തെളിഞ്ഞു.

27. But Jonathan had not heard when his father charged the people with the oath, therefore, he put forth the end of the rod that [was] in his hand and dipped it in a honeycomb and put his hand to his mouth, and his eyes were enlightened.

28. അപ്പോള് ജനത്തില് ഒരുത്തന് ഇന്നു യാതൊരു ആഹാരമെങ്കിലും കഴിക്കുന്നവന് ശപിക്കപ്പെട്ടവന് എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു നിന്റെ അപ്പന് ജനത്തെക്കൊണ്ടു സത്യം ചെയ്യിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ടു; ജനം ക്ഷീണിച്ചുമിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

28. Then one of the people spoke and said, Thy father straitly charged the people with an oath, saying, Cursed [be] the man that eats [any] food this day. And the people were faint.

29. അതിന്നു യോനാഥാന് എന്റെ അപ്പന് ദേശത്തെ കഷ്ടത്തിലാക്കി; ഞാന് ഈ തേന് ഒരല്പം ആസ്വദിക്കകൊണ്ടു എന്റെ കണ്ണു തെളിഞ്ഞതു കണ്ടില്ലയോ?

29. Then Jonathan said, My father has troubled the land. See, I pray you, how my eyes have been enlightened because I tasted a little of this honey.

30. ജനത്തിന്നു കണ്ടുകിട്ടിയ ശത്രുക്കളുടെ കൊള്ളയില്നിന്നു അവര് എടുത്തു ഇന്നു വേണ്ടുംപോലെ ഭക്ഷിച്ചിരുന്നു എങ്കില് എത്രനന്നായിരുന്നു. എന്നാല് ഇപ്പോള് ഫെലിസ്ത്യരുടെ അപജയം അത്ര വലുതായില്ലല്ലോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

30. How much more if haply the people had eaten freely today of the spoil of their enemies which they found? Would there not have been now a much greater slaughter among the Philistines?

31. അവര് അന്നു മിക്മാസ് തുടങ്ങി അയ്യാലോന് വരെ ഫെലിസ്ത്യരെ സംഹരിച്ചു, ജനം ഏറ്റവും തളര്ന്നുപോയി.

31. And they smote the Philistines that day from Michmash to Aijalon, but the people were very faint.

32. ആകയാല് ജനം കൊള്ളകൂ ഔടിച്ചെന്നു ആടുകളെയും കാളകളെയും കിടാക്കളെയും പിടിച്ചു നിലത്തു വെച്ചു അറുത്തു രക്തത്തോടുകൂടെ തിന്നു.

32. Therefore, the people flew upon the spoil and took sheep and oxen and calves and slew [them] on the ground, and the people ate [them] with the blood.

33. ജനം രക്തത്തോടെ തിന്നുന്നതിനാല് യഹോവയോടു പാപം ചെയ്യുന്നു എന്നു ശൊലിന്നു അറിവുകിട്ടിയപ്പോള് അവന് നിങ്ങള് ഇന്നു ദ്രോഹം ചെയ്യുന്നു; ഒരു വലിയ കല്ലു എന്റെ അടുക്കല് ഉരുട്ടിക്കൊണ്ടുവരുവിന് എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

33. Then they told Saul, saying, Behold, the people sin against the LORD in that they eat with the blood. And he said, Ye have transgressed; roll a great stone unto me this day.

34. പിന്നെയും ശൌല്നിങ്ങള് ജനത്തിന്റെ ഇടയില് എല്ലാടവും ചെന്നു അവരോടു ഔരോരുത്തന് താന്താന്റെ കാളയെയും ആടിനെയും എന്റെ അടുക്കല് കൊണ്ടുവന്നു ഇവിടെവെച്ചു അറുത്തു തിന്നു കൊള്വിന് ; രക്തത്തോടെ തിന്നുന്നതിനാല് യഹോവയോടു പാപം ചെയ്യരുതു എന്നു പറവിന് എന്നു കല്പിച്ചു. അങ്ങനെ ജനമെല്ലാം കാളകളെ അന്നു രാത്രി കൊണ്ടുവന്നു അവിടെവെച്ചു അറുത്തു.

34. And Saul said, Disperse yourselves among the people and tell each one to bring his ox and his sheep here unto me and slay [them] here and eat and do not sin against the LORD in eating with the blood. And of all the people, each one brought his ox with him that night and slew [them] there.

35. ശൌല് യഹോവേക്കു ഒരു യാഗപീഠം പണിതു; അതു അവന് യഹോവേക്കു ആദ്യം പണിത യാഗപീഠം ആയിരുന്നു.

35. And Saul built an altar unto the LORD; the same was the first altar that he built unto the LORD.

36. അനന്തരം ശൌല്നാം രാത്രിയില് തന്നേ ഫെലിസ്ത്യരെ പിന്തുടര്ന്നു പുലരുവോളം അവരെ കൊള്ളയിടുക; അവരില് ഒരുത്തനെയും ശേഷിപ്പിക്കരുതു എന്നു കല്പിച്ചു. നിനക്കു ബോധിച്ചതുപോലെ ഒക്കെയും ചെയ്തുകൊള്ക എന്നു അവര് പറഞ്ഞപ്പോള്നാം ഇവിടെ ദൈവത്തോടു അടുത്തുചെല്ലുക എന്നു പുരോഹിതന് പറഞ്ഞു.

36. And Saul said, Let us go down after the Philistines by night and spoil them until the morning light, and let us not leave a man of them. And they said, Do whatever seems good unto thee. Then the priest said, Let us draw near unto God here.

37. അങ്ങനെ ശൌല് ദൈവത്തോടുഞാന് ഫെലിസ്ത്യരെ പിന്തുടരേണമോ? നീ അവരെ യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ കയ്യില് ഏല്പിക്കുമോ എന്നു അരുളപ്പാടു ചോദിച്ചു. എന്നാല് അന്നു അവന്നു അരുളപ്പാടു ലഭിച്ചില്ല.

37. And Saul asked counsel of God, Shall I go down after the Philistines? Wilt thou deliver them into the hand of Israel? But he did not answer him that day.

38. അപ്പോള് ശൌല്ജനത്തിന്റെ പ്രധാനികള് ഒക്കെയും ഇവിടെ അടുത്തുവരട്ടെ; ഇന്നു പാപം സംഭവിച്ചതു ഏതു കാര്യത്തില് എന്നു അന്വേഷിച്ചറിവിന് ;

38. Then Saul said, Bring here all the chief of the people and know and see by whom this sin has been this day.

39. യിസ്രായേലിനെ രക്ഷിക്കുന്ന യഹോവയാണ, അതു എന്റെ മകന് യോനാഥാനില് തന്നേ ആയിരുന്നാലും അവന് മരിക്കേണം നിശ്ചയം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. എന്നാല് അവനോടു ഉത്തരം പറവാന് സര്വ്വ ജനത്തിലും ഒരുത്തനും തുനിഞ്ഞില്ല.

39. For, [as] the LORD lives, who saves Israel, though it be in Jonathan, my son, he shall surely die. But [there was] not a man among all the people [that] answered him.

40. അവന് എല്ലായിസ്രായേലിനോടുംനിങ്ങള് ഒരു ഭാഗത്തു നില്പിന് ; ഞാനും എന്റെ മകനായ യോനാഥാനും മറുഭാഗത്തു നില്ക്കാം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. നിന്റെ ഇഷ്ടംപോലെ ആകട്ടെ എന്നു ജനം ശൌലിനോടു പറഞ്ഞു.

40. Then he said unto all Israel, Be ye on one side, and I and Jonathan my son will be on the other side. And the people said unto Saul, Do what seems good unto thee.

41. അങ്ങനെ ശൌല് യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയോടുനേര് വെളിപ്പെടുത്തിത്തരേണമേ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അപ്പോള് ശൌലിന്നു യോനാഥാന്നും ചീട്ടുവീണു; ജനം ഒഴിഞ്ഞുപോയി.

41. Therefore, Saul said unto the LORD God of Israel, Show who is without blemish. And Saul and Jonathan were taken, but the people went out [free].

42. പിന്നെ ശൌല്എനിക്കും എന്റെ മകനായ യോനാഥാന്നും ചീട്ടിടുവിന് എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു; ചീട്ടു യോനാഥാന്നു വീണു.

42. And Saul said, Cast [lots] between me and Jonathan my son. And Jonathan was taken.

43. ശൌല് യോനാഥാനോടുനീ എന്തു ചെയ്തു? എന്നോടു പറക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. യോനാഥാന് അവനോടുഞാന് എന്റെ വടിയുടെ അറ്റംകൊണ്ടു അല്പം തേന് ആസ്വദിച്ചതേയുള്ളു; അതുകൊണ്ടു ഇതാ, ഞാന് മരിക്കേണ്ടിവന്നിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

43. Then Saul said to Jonathan, Tell me what thou hast done. And Jonathan told him, and said, I did but taste a little honey with the end of the rod that [was] in my hand; must I die for this.

44. അതിന്നു ശൌല്ദൈവം എന്നോടു തക്കവണ്ണവും അധികവും ചെയ്യട്ടെ യോനാഥാനേ, നീ മരിക്കേണം എന്നു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.

44. And Saul answered, God do so and more also, for thou shalt surely die, Jonathan.

45. എന്നാല് ജനം ശൌലിനോടുയിസ്രായേലില് ഈ മഹാരക്ഷ പ്രവര്ത്തിച്ചിരിക്കുന്ന യോനാഥാന് മരിക്കേണമോ? ഒരിക്കലും അരുതു; യഹോവയാണ, അവന്റെ തലയിലെ ഒരു രോമവും നിലത്തു വീഴുകയില്ല; അവന് ഇന്നു ദൈവത്തോടുകൂടെയല്ലോ പ്രവര്ത്തിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നതു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അങ്ങനെ ജനം യോനാഥാനെ വീണ്ടെടുത്തു; അവന് മരിക്കേണ്ടിവന്നതുമില്ല.

45. Then the people said unto Saul, Shall Jonathan die, who has wrought this great saving health in Israel? No, in no wise: [as] the LORD lives, there shall not one hair of his head fall to the ground, for he has wrought with God this day. So the people rescued Jonathan that he did not die.

46. ശൌല് ഫെലിസ്ത്യരെ പിന്തുടരാതെ മടങ്ങിപ്പോയി; ഫെലിസ്ത്യരും തങ്ങളുടെ സ്ഥലത്തേക്കു പോയി.

46. Then Saul went up from following the Philistines, and the Philistines went to their own place.

47. ശൌല് യിസ്രായേലില് രാജത്വം ഏറ്റശേഷം മോവാബ്യര്, അമ്മോന്യര്, എദോമ്യര്, സോബാരാജാക്കന്മാര്, ഫെലിസ്ത്യര് എന്നിങ്ങനെ ചുറ്റുമുള്ള സകലജാതികളോടും യുദ്ധംചെയ്തു; അവന് ചെന്നേടത്തൊക്കെയും ജയംപ്രാപിച്ചു.

47. So Saul took the kingdom over Israel and fought against all his enemies on every side, against Moab and against the sons of Ammon and against Edom and against the kings of Zobah and against the Philistines; and wherever he turned himself, he troubled [them].

48. അവന് ശൌര്യം പ്രവര്ത്തിച്ചു അമാലേക്യരെ ജയിച്ചു, യിസ്രായേല്യരെ കവര്ച്ചക്കാരുടെ കയ്യില്നിന്നു വിടുവിക്കയും ചെയ്തു.

48. And he gathered a host and smote Amalek and delivered Israel out of the hands of those that spoiled them.

49. എന്നാല് ശൌലിന്റെ പുത്രന്മാര് യോനാഥാന് , യിശ്വി, മല്ക്കീശുവ എന്നിവര് ആയിരുന്നു; അവന്റെ രണ്ടു പുത്രിമാര്ക്കോ, മൂത്തവള്ക്കു മേരബ് എന്നും ഇളയവള്ക്കു മീഖാള് എന്നും പേരായിരുന്നു.

49. Now the sons of Saul were Jonathan and Ishui and Melchishua. And the names of his two daughters [were these]: the name of the firstborn Merab and the name of the younger Michal.

50. ശൌലിന്റെ ഭാര്യെക്കു അഹീനോവം എന്നു പേര് ആയിരുന്നു; അവള് അഹീമാസിന്റെ മകള്. അവന്റെ സേനാധിപതിക്കു അബ്നേര് എന്നു പേര്; അവന് ശൌലിന്റെ ഇളയപ്പനായ നേരിന്റെ മകന് ആയിരുന്നു.

50. And the name of Saul's wife [was] Ahinoam, the daughter of Ahimaaz. And the name of the captain of his host [was] Abner, the son of Ner, Saul's uncle.

51. ശൌലിന്റെ അപ്പനായ കീശും അബ്നേരിന്റെ അപ്പനായ നേരും അബീയേലിന്റെ മക്കള് ആയിരുന്നു.

51. For Kish [was] the father of Saul, and Ner, the father of Abner, [was] the son of Abiel.

52. ശൌലിന്റെ കാലത്തൊക്കെയും ഫെലിസ്ത്യരോടു കഠിനയുദ്ധം ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു; എന്നാല് ശൌല് യാതൊരു വീരനെയോ ശൂരനെയോ കണ്ടാല് അവനെ തന്റെ അടുക്കല് ചേര്ത്തുകൊള്ളും.

52. And there was intense war against the Philistines all the days of Saul, and when Saul saw any strong man or any valiant man, he took him unto him.:
