1. യഹോവ അബ്രാമിനോടു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തതെന്തെന്നാല്നീ നിന്റെ ദേശത്തെയും ചാര്ച്ചക്കാരെയും പിതൃഭവനത്തെയും വിട്ടു പുറപ്പെട്ടു ഞാന് നിന്നെ കാണിപ്പാനിരിക്കുന്ന ദേശത്തെക്കു പോക.

1. And Jehovah had said to Abram, Go out from your land and from your kindred, and from your father's house, to the land which I will show you.

2. ഞാന് നിന്നെ വലിയോരു ജാതിയാക്കും; നിന്നെ അനുഗ്രഹിച്ചു നിന്റെ പേര് വലുതാക്കും; നീ ഒരു അനുഗ്രഹമായിരിക്കും.

2. And I will make of you a great nation. And I will bless you and make your name great; and you will be a blessing.

3. നിന്നെ അനുഗ്രഹിക്കുന്നവരെ ഞാന് അനുഗ്രഹിക്കും. നിന്നെ ശപിക്കുന്നവരെ ഞാന് ശപിക്കും; നിന്നില് ഭൂമിയിലെ സകല വംശങ്ങളും അനുഗ്രഹിക്കപ്പെടും.

3. And I will bless those who bless you, and curse the one despising you. And in you all families of the earth shall be blessed.

4. യഹോവ തന്നോടു കല്പിച്ചതുപോലെ അബ്രാം പുറപ്പെട്ടു; ലോത്തും അവനോടുകൂടെ പോയി; ഹാരാനില്നിന്നു പുറപ്പെടുമ്പോള് അബ്രാമിന്നു എഴുപത്തഞ്ചു വയസ്സായിരുന്നു.

4. And Abram went out, even as Jehovah had spoken to him. And Lot went with him. And Abram was a son of seventy five years when he went out from Haran.

5. അബ്രാം തന്റെ ഭാര്യയായ സാറായിയെയും സഹോദരന്റെ മകനായ ലോത്തിനെയും തങ്ങള് ഉണ്ടാക്കിയ സമ്പത്തുകളെയൊക്കെയും തങ്ങള് ഹാരാനില് വെച്ചു സമ്പാദിച്ച ആളുകളെയും കൂട്ടിക്കൊണ്ടു കനാന് ദേശത്തേക്കു പോകുവാന് പുറപ്പെട്ടു കനാന് ദേശത്തു എത്തി.

5. And Abram took his wife Sarai, and his brother's son, Lot, and all their substance that they had gained, and the persons they had gotten in Haran. And they went out to go into the land of Canaan. And they came into the land of Canaan.

6. അബ്രാം ശേഖേമെന്ന സ്ഥലംവരെയും ഏലോന് മോരെവരെയും ദേശത്തുകൂടി സഞ്ചരിച്ചു. അന്നു കനാന്യന് ദേശത്തു പാര്ത്തിരുന്നു.

6. And Abram passed through the land as far as the place of Shechem, to the Oak of Moreh. And the Canaanite was then in the land.

7. യഹോവ അബ്രാമിന്നു പ്രത്യക്ഷനായിനിന്റെ സന്തതിക്കു ഞാന് ഈ ദേശം കൊടുക്കുമെന്നു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തു. തനിക്കു പ്രത്യക്ഷനായ യഹോവേക്കു അവന് അവിടെ ഒരു യാഗപീഠം പണിതു.

7. And Jehovah appeared to Abram and said, I will give this land to your seed. And he built an altar there to Jehovah, who appeared to him.

8. അവന് അവിടെനിന്നു ബേഥേലിന്നു കിഴക്കുള്ള മലെക്കു പുറപ്പെട്ടു; ബേഥേല് പടിഞ്ഞാറും ഹായി കിഴക്കുമായി കൂടാരം അടിച്ചു; അവിടെ അവന് യഹോവേക്കു ഒരു യാഗപീഠം പണിതു യഹോവയുടെ നാമത്തില് ആരാധിച്ചു.

8. And he moved from there to a mountain on the east of Bethel, and stretched his tent with Bethel toward the sea, and Ai on the east. And he built an altar there to Jehovah, and called on the name of Jehovah.

9. അബ്രാം പിന്നെയും തെക്കോട്ടു യാത്രചെയ്തുകൊണ്ടിരുന്നു.

9. And Abram pulled up stakes, going on and pulling up stakes toward the Negeb.

10. ദേശത്തു ക്ഷാമം ഉണ്ടായി; ദേശത്തു ക്ഷാമം കഠിനമായി തീര്ന്നതുകൊണ്ടു അബ്രാം മിസ്രയീമില് ചെന്നുപാര്പ്പാന് അവിടേക്കു പോയി.

10. And a famine was in the land, so Abram went down into Egypt to stay there. For the famine was heavy in the land.

11. മിസ്രയീമില് എത്തുമാറായപ്പോള് അവന് തന്റെ ഭാര്യ സാറായിയോടു പറഞ്ഞതുഇതാ, നീ സൌന്ദര്യമുള്ള സ്ത്രീയെന്നു ഞാന് അറിയുന്നു.

11. And it happened when he had drawn near to come to Egypt, he said to his wife Sarai, Behold, please, I know that you are a beautiful woman to look upon.

12. മിസ്രയീമ്യര് നിന്നെ കാണുമ്പോള് ഇവള് അവന്റെ ഭാര്യയെന്നു പറഞ്ഞു എന്നെകൊല്ലുകയും നിന്നെ ജീവനോടെ രക്ഷിക്കയും ചെയ്യും.

12. And it will be, when the Egyptians see you, then they will say, This is his wife, and they will kill me, and they will save you alive.

13. നീ എന്റെ സഹോദരിയെന്നു പറയേണം; എന്നാല് നിന്റെ നിമിത്തം എനിക്കു നന്മവരികയും ഞാന് ജീവിച്ചിരിക്കയും ചെയ്യും.

13. Please say that you are my sister, so that it may be well with me for your sake, and my soul shall live because of you.

14. അങ്ങനെ അബ്രാം മിസ്രയീമില് എത്തിയപ്പോള് സ്ത്രീ അതി സുന്ദരി എന്നു മിസ്രയീമ്യര് കണ്ടു.

14. And it happened, when Abram had come into Egypt, the Egyptians saw the woman, that she was very beautiful.

15. ഫറവോന്റെ പ്രഭുക്കന്മാരും അവളെ കണ്ടു, ഫറവോന്റെ മുമ്പാകെ അവളെ പ്രശംസിച്ചു; സ്ത്രീ ഫറവോന്റെ അരമനയില് പോകേണ്ടിവന്നു.

15. And Pharaoh's princes saw her, and they praised her before Pharaoh. And the woman was taken into Pharaoh's house.

16. അവളുടെ നിമിത്തം അവന് അബ്രാമിന്നു നന്മ ചെയ്തു; അവന്നു ആടുമാടുകളും ആണ്കഴുതകളും ദാസന്മാരും ദാസിമാരും പെണ്കഴുതകളും ഒട്ടകങ്ങളും ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു.

16. And he did good to Abram because of her. And he had sheep, and oxen, and he-asses, and male slaves, and slave-girls, and she-asses, and camels.

17. അബ്രാമിന്റെ ഭാര്യയായ സാറായിനിമിത്തം യഹോവ ഫറവോനെയും അവന്റെ കുടുംബത്തെയും അത്യന്തം ദണ്ഡിപ്പിച്ചു.

17. And Jehovah touched Pharaoh and his house with great plagues on the word of Sarai, Abram's wife.

18. അപ്പോള് ഫറവോന് അബ്രാമിനെ വിളിച്ചുനീ എന്നോടു ഈ ചെയ്തതു എന്തു? അവള് നിന്റെ ഭാര്യയെന്നു എന്നെ അറിയിക്കാഞ്ഞതു എന്തു?

18. And Pharaoh called for Abram and said, What is this you have done to me? Why did you not tell me she is your wife?

19. അവള് എന്റെ സഹോദരിയെന്നു എന്തിന്നു പറഞ്ഞു? ഞാന് അവളെ ഭാര്യയായിട്ടു എടുപ്പാന് സംഗതി വന്നുപോയല്ലോ; ഇപ്പോള് ഇതാ, നിന്റെ ഭാര്യ; അവളെ കൂട്ടിക്കൊണ്ടു പോക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

19. Why did you say, She is my sister? And so I took her for my wife. Now, then, see your wife. Take her and go.

20. ഫറവോന് അവനെക്കുറിച്ചു തന്റെ ആളുകളോടു കല്പിച്ചു; അവര് അവനെയും അവന്റെ ഭാര്യയെയും അവന്നുള്ള സകലവുമായി പറഞ്ഞയച്ചു.

20. And as Pharaoh commanded his men as to him, even they sent away him and his wife and all that he had.
